The evening was wearing on, and Kole was hesitantly pacing inside the house. There was a fair at the edge of the city, and he'd promised Kyllian he would go. They'd compromised to let him go later in the day to avoid the peak of the sun, and that time was wearing on. He'd even told Edith about the fair when he'd last seen her. He told her he might see her there... Well, that clinched it. Lifting his head, he turned and marched out the door.

He regretted his action instantly. Crowds of humans and pokehumans alike were gathered outside his front door. He yelped and spun back inside, and hurried out the back door instead once he got his feet to move.

It was a bit slower to go through the woods, but he finally made his way to the fair. His eyes widened in shock. Everyone from this town and the next seemed to be there! The fair was spread all over the wide field for enjoyment. People were riding giant machines that looked like they might take off at any moment! There were rows and rows of stalls filled with odd games and prizes of all kinds. The air with thick and sweet from the food vans that dotted the grounds. Vendors stuck to the side of the grounds, offering trinkets and souvenirs; and next to that was an exotic animal petting zoo!

Kole stood gawking at the entry to the fair, the two poles lined top to bottom with brightly colored flags. Everyone walked by him, too excited to notice the frozen boy who was torn between excitement and fear. ...How was he supposed to find his friends here?!

The day had been exceptionally long for the winged girl. Edith had hurried through her deliveries at break neck speeds, often bumbling on simple orders, all in anticipation for the fair. She hadn't believed it when she heard that Kole would really go to such a place, and she wouldn't have missed it for the world. It held her curiosity before he had even told her, but having such an anti-people person go...Edith wanted to make sure she was there early so that he wouldn't have to be alone for one minute!

Of course, a last minute order had her running late. Even as she flew she came over a thousand lights and smells. The first looks she had of the fair were from the sky which was enough to have her hooked! Edith's mouth dropped, and for a moment all she could do was tread air. There were so many lights! And people - people as far and wide as she could see! But where was Kole?

Kyllian was wearing normal clothing for once in his life, or as close as he wanted to get to it. His friend Uaithne had a thing for kilts that had transferrred on to the little Roman soldier, causing Kyllian to strut around the perirmeter of the fair in a red clad kilt. He wasn't sure why it had a furry purse near his private area, but hey, it was a nifty place to keep gum!

He was shoved over by a group of cackling teenagers who didn't take to kindly to the growl tossed their way. Even though his face was adorably young, the growl had been feral enough to send them skittering. He snorted. Served them right for being rude! One had even called him an ugly girl, and yeah he might have been, but that was only cuz he wasn't a girl, stupid!

As Kyllian closed in on the entrance he noticed that a feathered girl had landed close to him. He watched the way she brushed off her leggings, then passed him a little smile. Maybe she was going to the fair too? He hoped not - she looked grey, which meant she might be related to Chloe and he didn't want to deal with buttstring this evening. He saw Kole relatively quickly and tossed up a hand as he called out, "Hey Kole!", only to be surprised when the girl beside him was waving as well.

Both children stopped to look at each other, suspicion in their gaze. Just who was he/she?!

Kole had started chewing on his lip. Maybe this had been a bad idea... There were so many strangers walking around... So many humans... He stood tight against one of the flag poles to keep his nerves on level. Kyllian would be here. Edith would be here. It would be okay...

An adult had been watching him standing there, and had started to walk over to make sure he was okay. Kole's knees started to shake as the man drew near. The human looked concerned, but looks could be deceiving! Kyllian's voice was like a lifeline, and he spun toward it as the man started to speak and reach out for him.

Hearing Kyllian first, his eyes were set on his best friend, a large smile rising with relief. And then he saw Edith right there! His eyes lit up when he saw her. Oblivious to the tension of the unknown between his friends, he grabbed Edith with one arm as his momentum carried him into Kyllian, his other arm wrapping around the large boy, and hugged his dearest friends close together. "I'm so glad you're both here!" he gasped out before reluctantly backing off. He took Kyllian's hand in one of his own, and Edith's hand in the other. "Kyllian, this is Edith! Edith, this is Kyllian!" He looked between the two with the largest smile he'd ever worn. With his two best friends with him, nothing could go wrong!

Kyllian had seen the man coming for Kole, but hadn't put much stock in it. He was just a concerned guy trying to help out a nervous, lonely kid. Boy, did Kole ever look scared! It made Kyllian want to wrap him up in a blanket and take him home.

He couldn't help, but to laugh on the contact. A muscled arm moved around to clap Kole on the back, and hug him close. "Hey buddy, I started to worry about you. I didn't see you anywhere inside so I checked around." When he was free he tucked his hands into the pocket's the kilt provided. Orange eyes looked between the pair before grinning a little brighter. Maybe the girl wasn't related to Chloe, but she had definitely wormed her way into someone's good favor.

"Nice ta meet'cha, Edi." Kyllian smiled, holding out his free hand.

Edith held her arms out wide for Kole and embraced him, begrudgingly giving up some space so his friend could get in too. She was a little puffed up at the easy way this horned boy was talking to him. Just who was this kid?

She shuffled her feet in the dirt, and looked to Kole with a cocked eyebrow. Well...if this was Kole's friend then she guessed he was okay, for now, but she would be watching! And she wouldn't take that smile off his face for the world. It brought a smile to her own, as well as a little flush that went all over the back of her neck.

Taking Kyllian's hand she gave it a shake and a little unsure smile. She let go fairly quickly, though not of Kole's and pointed towards the big ferris wheel excitedly.

Kole gave Kyllian a bashful smile. "It-it's my fault. I took too long to get here." Walking through the woods as far from the main crowd as possible would do that. And pacing in the front hall, the kitchen, the bedroom....

Brow rising, he turned to see what Edith was pointing at. The wheel was huge!! "Of course you would want something that goes high," he said with a playful chuckle. He liked the idea as well though. "Okay. Let's go!" He turned, and was again hit with the size of the crowd between them and the desired ride. He blanched, and tightened his hold on Edith's hand while the other reached for Kyllian's shirt. "Umm.. I don't know how to get to it," he murmured. "Can one of you lead?"
PostPosted: Sun Jul 13, 2014 8:46 pm

Kyllian snorted and ruffled his friends hair with a toothy grin. Or rather, a toothless grin! His lower cheek was swollen and slightly puffy, with two of his teeth missing as well. Thankfully not one of his fangs!

Edith bounced up on the balls of her feet and smiled excitedly. She wanted to ride on the big spinning wheel! The way it swayed back and forth...it was so pretty! She squeezed his hand for support, trying her best to stand tall by him with her wings puffed out a little to keep others at bay.

On instinct she opened her mouth, only to frown, lowering her eyes. If only she were able to say something to the people to make them back off, but in truth she was only slightly less afraid of them than Kole. At any moment any one of these children might want to capture her, force her back in a poke'ball...She shuddered.

Sensing the impeding panic mode radiating from both of the other children Kyllian stepped up to the plate. Kyllian slipped his hand into Kole's, slowly loosening it from his shirt. "Edith, do you mind covering the rear guard? I'm trusting you to keep the Prince safe." He winked with a smile and squeezed Kole's hand. "Follow me, my lord, your chariot awaits!"

Kyllian hustled his way through the crowd, using his larger side and loud voice to get people to step aside. "Excuse us," "Ma'am, can you move your dog?" "Watch it!" It was work, especially since he didn't want to take them through the thick of it, but soon enough they were up to the line.

With his eyes down, Kole giggled and blushed. He hated when he kept Kyllian waiting, but he could only push himself to move so fast. And the sad thing was.. he was really getting better, bit by bit.

Rear guard? Bright eyes looked up curiously at Kyllian before they started clashing with the bright red on his cheeks. Prince?! He hesitated before he slowly started to chuckle, giggle, and increased into a laugh. Kyllian could be so silly, but it was working! He was feeling better as they made their way through the crowd, and he looked back at Edith with a shy smile. She probably thought they were both silly now! Yet, he wasn't as afraid as he'd been moments ago.

When they stopped, he peeked around Kyllian to the ride and the line. "Is it a long wait?" he asked, little ears twitching as he saw a couple climb into one of the seats on the big wheel.

]Edith took her post as seriously as she could without getting too distracted by the wonder around her. There were children her age running around with laughter and smiles abound. Some even had balloon hats! They bounced, jumped and dodged through the crowd on their way towards other games. It made her very excited to be there despite the apprehension.

She kept close to her Prince, watching diligently. She felt better watching Kole start to giggle, and though his laughter surprised her it was in a good way. Edith moved to take his hand with both of hers and smile as bright as the fluorescent lighting around them.

Kyllian couldn't see everything that was happening behind him, but it didn't matter. He had Kole, and now he had Edith as well, both laughing as far as he knew. That Edith kid was quiet! He didn't think she liked him all that well, but wasn't she happy around Kole? Maybe she was just shy, he guessed. He'd just have to break her of that.

Standing on his tip toes Kyllian looked over some shoulders and shook his head. "Nah, it looks like it's going pretty quick! They're taking a lot of people at a time, so we should be up soon."

Sure enough the line ebbed away infront of them, and within a matter of minutes Kyllian was climbing into a blue ferris wheel cage, anxious and curious about the whole deal. Just what did this thing do...? "I wonder what powers this...?" He poked at a few of the bearings, trying to crane his head around the bars to look into the engine outside.

Edith moved in to sit on the opposing bench, settling herself next to the far side near the edge. She tucked her wings in and sat her bag at her feet.

Inside the cage, he went to the other side opposite the door. He could see right through to the other side! His fingers tested the chain link that would keep them from falling out. Would this really hold them?

Behind, a solo rider was called up. The bulbasaur boy gave the trio a glance before smiling to Edith and settling next to her. "Hey. How're you?" he asked her with a coy smile.

Ears twitching, Kole turned back at the sound of a strange voice. They.. didn't get this ride to themselves? And he was sitting next to Edith? Frowning, he turned only to have the game runner tell him to sit down. Shrinking back, he nodded and sat next to Kyllian. "H-have you been on one of these before Kyllian?" he asked, trying to take his mind off the seating arrangement. He would only have been able to sit next to one of them anyway, but...
PostPosted: Sun Jul 20, 2014 5:30 pm

Edith pouted, nervously looking to Kole with a little sigh. She had wanted to sit next to him! But..the bulbasaur boy had always been nice to her, so she smiled to him. She pulled a little notepad out of her bag and wrote "Good" in a pink crayon. Then she asked, "You?"

"Please remain seated for the remainder of the ride and keep all hands...wings, tails, claws?...whatever, just stay inside." The operator, a young teenage boy, shook his head and shut the door to the cage. He checked the systems before pushing the button that had it slowly ascending into the sky.

Of course Kyllian didn't notice any of Kole's hesitation, since his eyes had never left the barrings located near the bottom. The whole system was amazing! If he could just get his hands on it...."Huh?" Turning around he looked at Kole, then noticed another dude in the carriage. What was that all about? "Nope, never been on a ride in my life!....hey, w-we just keep getting higher off the ground, don't we?"

The further they went away from the ground the whiter Kyllian's skin became. He looked out the side, hand clenched on the seats edge. There weren't many instances that he had known fear, but this....

Kole gasped as the ride started up, his hands gripping the seat from curiosity. Their first ride together! Was this Edith's first, too? He looked over to ask, but the other boy had her attention. Gaze dropping, he noticed Kyllian's hands, and looked up at the unusual expression. "It'll go up until we reach the top, and then it'll go back down, like the other cages are doing... Kyllian? You okay? " He reached over to put his hand over Kyllian's encouragingly. He wasn't seeing fear on Kyllian's face, was he? Kyllian wasn't afraid of anything!

"Me? Oh, I'm really good." The bulbasaur blushed slightly. The girl was really cute! "The guy down there wanted the cage to be full... so I'm glad I got on this one with you. My name's Franklin."
PostPosted: Sun Jul 20, 2014 6:14 pm

Kyllian's back was as stiff as the metal he worked with. His clawed hands were gripping the seats edge like tight fights, and he felt like his feet were going to press so hard into the floor that it would fall out from under him. Every little shake, sway and movement put his gut further into the floor.

He looked at Kole's hand on his and gulped. "Y-yeah, why wouldn't I be? I just..didn't know it would be this...high.." At that moment the cage came to a little stop, probably to let others on below them, but it did nothing for Kyllian, who chose that moment to hiss and close his eyes.

Edith made a little silent laugh and smiled, her cheeks a little warm from her own blush. She hadn't been as happy to have him there as she was now. Franklin was a really nice guy! On her little pad she wrote, "I'm glad you got on too. Are you here by yourself?" And then after all of that wrote, "My name's Edith".

She looked away from Franklin to Kole, and just as quickly to Kyllian. In concern she leaned forward, intending to put her hand on his free one, but it caused the paused cage to tilt which just worried him more. So with a little sigh she sat back in her seat to write, "Are you scared?" on a separate page and hold it up for Kole to see.

Kole frowned and tightened his hold. "Don't worry. I won't let you fall." Could he possibly hold Kyllian's weight with his little wings? ...Hopefully they wouldn't have to find out today.

He looked over to Edith, and gave her an appreciative smile. "I'm fine.." he looked over to Kyllian and then back, "Kyllian's just not used to this kind of ride. It'll be over soon anyway."

Franklin smiled. "Edith. That's pretty." Just like her smile! "Yeah, I'm here by myself. That's why I got on with you. Just one more body was needed, and I didn't have anyone else to ride with."

He looked over to the two boys as well, and smiled brightly. "Aww, you don't have to be scared. People ride this thing all the time! It's sturdy as anything. See?" He swung his upper body to make the cage sway back and forth a bit more than it already was, "showing" just how safe the ride was. He didn't understand the glare he was suddenly getting from the boy with the wings. He was just trying to be helpful!
PostPosted: Sun Jul 20, 2014 6:45 pm

"Uh, huh, thanks buddy." Kyllian squeaked, never bothering to open his eyes. Between Edith, the ferris wheel and his own nerves he felt ready to pass out at any moment. He was really glad Chloe wasn't here to see him!

He let out a little relieved sigh when he felt it start up again. The scared child started counting backwards in his mind to give him something else to concentrate on.

Edith nodded, and moved to cross one of her legs underneath her so she could sit up a little taller. Unlike Kyllian she wasn't bothered by the height at all; in fact, she was pretty happy! She took every chance she could to look outside, her wings fluttering in what space they could.

She grabbed onto one of the bars near her as Franklin made the cage sway. It felt kind of cool to her, which is why she went along with it, grinning a bit, until she saw the look Kole was giving him.

"Hey, Franky, do. not. move." Kyllian's nerves were almost fried at that point. He thought at one point he might as well take his chances and start climbing out. At least then he could start moving down instead of climbing up!

Edith frowned and moved over to put a hand on Franklin's shoulder. She shook her head and gave a little soft smile. She knew he was trying, and he was being really nice, but sometimes it didn't work out that way, you know? So instead she pointed to a few of the stalls below them. Was that Cotton Candy?!

Kole patted Kyllian's hand before turning to look out of their cage again. Poor Kyllian. Afraid of being so high? Who would have thought...? Though, Kyllian was usually on the ground, and didn't have wings. Of course, Kole was now too worried to truly enjoy the ride like he would have.

Franklin gave Edith an apologetic smile, and reached to hold her hand that had just squeezed his shoulder. She was so sweet, and had wanted to swing the cage, too. Too bad that big guy was such a party pooper.

He craned his neck to look out where Edith was pointing, and smiled. "That's all the food over there. ..Wanna get something to eat with me when the ride's over, Edith?"

At the request to Edith, Kole's head snapped forward again. ....Just Edith? "A-actually, I could go for a bite, too. Why don't we all go?" He looked over to Kyllian with a hopeful smile, avoiding the rather annoyed look being returned to him now from the bulbasaur. "M-maybe something to eat after would help you feel better?" He'd been so excited to spend the day with his friends... and now this guy was trying to take Edith away...
