Skaal couldn't say why he decided to wander away from his mother and sisters, again, but he felt the need to. His little home by the forest edge was lovely and all but he wanted to know what was in the forest. Like a good boy he listened to his mother in all things except this. He needed to explore this forest.
About halfway in it got a fair bit darker but the brave little colt was not scared, or at least that is what he told himself. His shaking knees however told a whole different tale. "Jeez... Darker in here than I thought..."

Cyhorse
And so it begins! -Cackles evilly-

Ahriman snaked easily through the trees of the forest. Although it was nearly pitch black, the stallion scaled the land as though he could see perfectly in front of him. Blood soaked the stallion's fur as eyes matching the shadows casted by the trees peered out towards something moving at a slightly more lit area of the forest. It was much larger than any forest creature, but smaller than a soquili. Perhaps it was a foal? The bloodied stallion grinned and licked his maw. What a nice meal that would make.

But as Ahriman slithered his way up to the colt, he realized something: the colt had kalona wings. Snarling slightly, Ahriman scanned the colt for other features of the mighty breed. What Ahriman found instead of two horns was one that was similar to his mother's. Unikalona? Dark eyes scanned for more features and the tail told a different story. Hybrid... Disgusting. Noticing the fear the colt held, Ahriman smirked. Oh this would be fun... "What is a foal doing in these forests all alone?" The stallion began to slowly circle the colt like sharks after their prey. "One your size would be a nice snack for someone such as myself."

Skaal nearly jumped out of his skin when he heard the voice and he realized all at once he shouldn't have come here. The much larger stallion in front of him was blood soaked and obviously something predatory from the very sharp teeth he saw when it spoke, but it was his wings that caught Skaal's attention. "I'm not all alone! My family is just right over there!" He was lieing of course but this larger stallion didn't need to know that. Bravado was often useful against predators or so his mother told him. "So if its okay for me to be here cause my family's around then why are you here Mister?" Skaal couldn't be more foolish in slightly mocking the bigger Kalona but it was just in his nature.

Ahriman loved a good scare. This foal had provided him with the slightest bit of entertainment so far as he came up with the worst comeback for a foal to have. Slowly, the massive stallion lowered his head towards the colt's head. "If you are unable to make a sound, then you can't call out to your family." He lifted his head with a dark chuckle as Ahriman used similar words told him when he was a colt and had a run in with a kalona stallion. Folding his wings to his side, Ahriman smirked at the colt, a fang poking out as he did so. "But why would I only eat you when I could have your whole family. It would be quite the feast." Watching the colt's reaction, Ahriman's spaded tail swung dangerously close to the colt's legs as he stopped his circling and stood in front of the colt now.

Ahriman paused when the colt spoke once again. And once again, the colt caused the stallion to chuckle. Oh how foolish foals could be... it was the reason they were such an easy meal for someone that was starving or simply sick in the head. "You see, kid, you don't know it, but I might have family lurking just out of your sight. They might be waiting for you to lower you guard just enough before we attack you and your family." Ahriman was simply messing with the foal's head, but it was all in good fun. He would never attack another kalona. "You are in luck, though. Since you have some traits of a kalona you might be able to make it out of here alive." Again, Ahriman smirked at the colt before peering around the forest to be aware of any potential danger.

Skaal hissed at the other, his small tail puffing out as much as it could. "If you try and eat me or my family I will stop you!" He opened his mouth as the hiss grew into a growl, and his fangs showed but they were mere nubs compared to Ahriman's fangs. Suddenly though something hit Skaal and he depuffed and stared curiously at the stallion. "What Kalona? What the heck is a Kalona? I'm not one of those... Am I?" His anger forgotten the colt walked closer to the bigger stallion and examined him. First his face, then his body and wings, and finally his tail which looked spaded like his sisters. "So you are a Kalona then? Funny looking bunch I'd say."

Cyhorse
And curiosity peaked for Skaal.

Was this foal joking or was he simply a fool? Either way, Ahriman couldn't help but snort as he lifted his head. "Foolish child. You couldn't stop me if you dared." This kid was testing Ahriman's patience and he was about ready to teach this foal his place and respect for his elders. His thoughts were pushed aside, however when the foal inquired about the kalona breed. "You don't know of the might kalona race? Have you been living under a rock, foal?" At least when Ahriman was a foal he knew of the kalona, unlike this ignorant foal. "No... you aren't a kalona, but judging by your wings, you have some kalona blood pumping through your veins. It is something to be proud of." Ahriman hissed eerily at the colt's comment about the kalona being a funny looking bunch. "Yes. I am a kalona. Why do I even bother with this kid?" The last part he mumbled as he lifted his head slightly, sniffing for something. Perhaps it was just a deer passing by.

Skaal snorted and looked sideways at the larger blood covered stallion. "Maybe it is this Kalona blood you say I have that makes me say such things, and no I haven't been living under a rock, I have been living for only about a few months. I thought my wings were a bit odd, but then I also don't know my father. So if he was a Kalona or of the blood then I guess its a question to take up with him." And there he went again. Sassing older and obviously stronger Soquili. Skaal trotted around the larger stallion and looked at all his parts, from his wings, to his tail, to his very sharp teeth. "I take back what I said about the funny looking part. You do look rather strong, and rather scary but as the man of my family I have to be strong too!"

Cyhorse
Yeah he just doesn't get that he isn't supposed to sass folks.

Ahriman's pitch black eyes peered down at the colt as he spoke about his father. There was the sass again... strike two for the colt. Again, there was something these two shared in common. Ahriman had never gotten the chance to meet his father. He knew the stallion was a kalona, but nothing more than that. "You are lucky, kid. If I were like most other kalona you would probably already be dead and your parents eaten." The young adult had heard stories of his elders eating impure foals in order to clear the land of lessers. "I would watch my mouth when meeting certain adults." It was obvious that Ahriman spoke from experience.

The colt brought the comment about him being funny looking up once again and Ahriman resisted the urge to attack the colt. His circling caused an eyebrow to raise on the older stallion as he watched the colt. "If you grow to adulthood, you might be strong one day... It takes training to be able to fight, kid." Ahriman's spaded tail swayed slowly as the colt found his position in front of the big stallion once again.

Wasteland Wyvern

Skaal realized that because this one wasn't attacking him that maybe just maybe he could help him. Skaal wanted nothing more than to be strong and to be able to protect his family, "I will watch my mouth more carefully in the future. I don't mean to sass others, its just a defensive mechanism for me... You are not the first to say that I am a freak you know." He looked up at the older stallion. "Let me start over Elder one. My name is Skaalbjorn or just Skaal for short and it is nice to meet you." He was trying to make amends for sassing the older stallion.

Cyhorse
Well maybe Ahriman can teach him a little bit about the breed before they part was.

The older stallion watched the colt for a moment, feeling no pity for the fool. His pitch black eyes pierced the colt as he apologized and explained his behavior. Ahriman simply shrugged at the colt's words as though he could care less. When he called himself a freak, Ahriman sneered at the colt. "Sadly, you are not a freak. You are fairly normal. Seeing a pure kalona, now that is a rarity." Kalona were becoming softer and the race was becoming weaker because of it. Less purebred kalona were traveling the land and more lessers scattered the area. These lessers gave the kalona race a bad name and made other lessers less fearful of what a kalona once stood for... or at least that was what Ahriman had heard from his elders.

When the colt called Ahriman his elder and stated he would 'start over', Ahriman hissed. If this colt were lucky, Ahriman would forgive and forget like he seemed to be pleading the stallion to do. 'Nice to meet you.' He quirked a brow at the colt and grimaced slightly. It was obvious now that he was raised by lessers and would be another embarrassment to the kalona race. Most older kalona would kill the kid, but Ahriman could never bring himself to murder a foal. Since Ahriman was unused to these formalities, he shifted uncomfortably before snorting as a response to the colt's introduction.

Wasteland Wyvern
Sure! He wouldn't mind. He'll just be a bit grumpy about it, but that's just Ahriman. XD

Skaal was curious about why the older male seemed so uncomfortable with the formalities but he didn't want to ask and end up angering him. "I am sorry about being so brash. Its a bit of a defensive mechanism for me." He shyly looked up at Ahriman. Desperately wanting to ask questions he was sure he looked ready to burst, but he didn't want to be ruder than he already had been. "May I ask your name Elder?" He figured a name would be an okay thing to ask as he didn't want to keep referring to him as Elder or just the older stallion. He hesitantly smiled up at him.

Cyhorse
Poor Ahriman having to deal with Skaal. He can be such a terror. I also ended up changing his RP color to skyblue. Sorry about the sudden change.

Black as pitch eyes would have pierced the foal if they could as Ahriman hovered over the colt. His spaded tail swinging wildly behind him now, wrapping around and lashing dangerously towards the colt's gangly legs. When the colt began his apology, Ahriman hissed at the colt. "I suggest you don't let your defense mechanism take control around certain soquili, colt." Part of him wanted to step on this colt and squish him here and now. No matter how much of a tough exterior he held, Ahriman knew he could never do such a thing to a foal.

The colt's tiny voice crept to the stallion's ears once more and Ahriman quirked a brow as he peered down at the colt once again. Did he give this foal his name so that he could tell his parents of the threats that were made? Would they hunt Ahriman down? With a soft, daring chuckle the stallion made his decision. "Ahriman." When he heard a bush rustle, Ahriman's head snapped in the direction and a snarl quickly overcame his features, giving him a more fearsome appearance than before.

Wasteland Wyvern
I'm so sorry about the slow reply! Ahriman's character has been very finicky lately.
