Al set his phone aside with a thoughtful look. Rep was going to be here soon and he had a few things more than simply a gift to approach the man with. He had ulterior motives; things that needed discussed and things he needed to be educated on.
He wasn't sure where to begin.
He picked up the large pound shop Aero bar of chocolate and it's accompanying preserved scorpion set in a solid square block of poly-resin. He honestly worried if perhaps one of his collection was a bit much... what if Rep didn't even like arachnids? He sighed but still left it where it was. There was no sense over-thinking this.

Rep hadn't been to Al's room in a while, but for the redhead there was no bribe so tempting as a gift. For all of his bad temper and judgmental attitudes gifts and flattery were the way straight to his heart every single time.
When he showed up it was fashionably late and dressed in a pair of shorts and little else besides - because it was always, always ******** hot this time of year and he hated it - and let himself in. "Sup." he said.

Al turned with a wave of his hand. "Hey man." The other hand stayed behind his back with gifts in hand. He shifted the objects in his hand to place the scorpion first so it wouldn't give him a heart attack after accepting the chocolate but he still offered up the objects as one, "Hey man, I hope you don't hate scorpions. I had packed this from home so it's kind of special but, it also reminded me of you and s**t. I mean. It's red and has some awesome weaponry. It also knows how to tear its enemies apart."
His other hand had fallen to play anxiously with his own shirt, worried Rep may not like it. "A-and the chocolate is just chocolate."

Rep eyed the gifts curiously, as always vaguely animalistic in his caution, taking the chocolate in one hand with a grin. "Ta." he said, before eyeing the other object. "Oooh man. Aye. I like scorpions." Harrison on the other hand did not, he wasn't fond of any kind of creepy crawly insect. The scorpion would have to go in his hoard rather than his room. "I appreciate it, scorpions are ******** scary little bastards."
Apparently satisfied with these offerings, Al got a toothy grin. "Ta." But it didn't take too long to gain an edge of suspicion. "But why presents? Its no my birthday."

Al looked relieved when Rep had accepted both gifts and seemed quite pleased with them. It wasn't until his paranoia bubbled forth that Al looked a bit more suspect, glancing down for just a moment before actually looking Rep in the face.
"Well, that's sorta part of it. So many birthdays lately and you're right, when yours was around you were kinda.... unavailable for celebration. It doesn't have to be your birthday to get gifts. You deserve them regardless. But I also... um..." He glanced downward again. "I wanted to update you on things and ask you about other things. Like, keep you updated I guess. I'm just not sure how you would feel about some of it."
"Like uh, I got a promotion," he looked incredibly uncertain about this. "I'm an intermediate now." He honestly wasn't sure whether or not he actually deserved to be one at this point, but superiors clearly felt differently. He hasn't accomplished much in his time on island and still felt incredibly confused and lost in many ways.

Rep liked the idea that it didn't need to be his birthday to receive gifts and felt like it should be an enforceable rule. But when Al moved on to umm and looked away, he knew there had to be more to it. He squinted suspiciously, folding his arms, fully expecting some horrendous bombshell, something like that Al was actually a woman or was thinking about becoming one. Or maybe that he was going to become some idiot's minion rather than his. When it turned out he'd only been promoted he raised an eyebrow. "That's it?" It wasn't it, he knew, Al had mentioned things plural and he almost certainly would start with the least of them.
"Cause if that's it, congratulations."

Al looked unbelievably relieved. He wasn't entirely sure, even now, what the older man expected of him most of the time. It wasn't to be weak or useless it seemed, even though Al was fairly certain that was what drew him at the start. He smiled wearily. "Nah. You know that's not it anyway. You're smart as hell man."
He took a deep breath and then looked back at Rep again, a renewed sense of security as he personally felt that was the worst of it. "Well, I've been thinking about a few things now..," he held his arms out at his room, the second to worst of it. "Like I'd really like to fix this with you? I just. I'm not sure where to start and like, it'd be a great way to welcome surviving to my first promotion, I guess? Just.. eh. Not if you don't want to." He back tracked a little.

"I'm no that smart, I'm just good at bullshitting." Rep corrected. "Its a subtle difference." But he let Al talk, following his gesture to the wall.
"I can help with it, right now I'm working on the bar as a priority but once its up I can help you with the wall, it shouldn't take more than two or three days to get done, and there's jack s**t else to do on the island."

"Smart enough to know me man," he gave Rep a curious look before shaking his head. He was grateful for the subject change. "Is there any way for me to help with the bar? This island seriously needs one and fast." There was still more to address, but it was important to make business arrangements before continuing on to his failures.

"You can help out with whatever you like with the bar, it mostly needs like, polishing, tidying, sorting s**t, any decorations you can add, whatever. Any help's always welcome man." He grinned. "And there's no drinking age. Old enough to fight, old enough to drink, any rules people impose are imposedo n their selves."

"I never even considered there'd be a drinking age limit man. I mean, well, you know. Legal n' s**t back home at my age - why would it be any different here?" He shrugged at Rep. He frankly didn't understand the strange scandalized response some people gave him over drinking. Usually he just shrugged it off as silly Americans.
"Ooooh though. I might have something you can put up, that's no the only scorpion I've got." Before Rep could object, he'd already scurried over to pull a solitary framed scorpion that was interestingly posed under the glass from his drawer. He offered it to Rep. "Maybe drunk people could study it for weaknesses."
