Name: Teagan Jameson

Nickname: N/A

Age:40

Birthday: Nov. 20th

Sign: Scorpio

Gemstone: Beryl, Obsidian & Apache tear

Blood Type: O

Fav. Food: Mac n' Cheese (blue box) stuffed burgers

Hated Food: Potatoes. He used to give all his fries to Micky

School: N/A, Civilian Firefighter

Hobbies:

Hiking - Teagan used to enjoy going for early morning hikes with his daughter to watch the sun rise, then they'd stop for a McGriddle and coffee in the car as he took her to school before heading home to a shower and bed. He's kept up with the hiking, but the sunrise is usually tear-blurred and the drive home silent. It just doesn't feel right to stop- when the first sun peeks over the ridges of the world, he can still almost hear her laugh.

Cooking - Not of the gourmet variety so much as the very down-home variety. It started when he was in high school himself, having to cook to feed himself and his brothers. He's kept up with occasional cooking classes, and found it was a good outlet for having fun with his daughter- holiday meals, making her lunches and trying to figure out easy meals she could assemble and reheat if he was going to be at work for dinner. He played the role of Mr.Mom for Micky as well by providing brownies and cookies for bake sales, being her partner for summertime barbeque cook offs, and helping to teach the girl scouts basic kitchen etiquette. Now its just classes and volunteering sometimes at senior meal centers or youth shelters.

Virtues:

Courage -- His job is risking his life to save others. Teagan came to terms a long time ago with situations of that sort, knowing he had what it took to face uncertainty and flame, stifling heat, low oxygen, and crumbling architecture in order to try to salvage lives and livelihoods of his fellow citizens. He doesn't seek glory in it, its just what he's good at- real courage is understanding fear and being able to do what is right anyway.

Endurance -- 'Trust is earned, Micky. If you haven't earned good faith, keep working hard' Teagan pulled long hours, working third shift/nights as a fireman in order to make sure that he was able to be there to see his daughter off to school and when she got home. As a single parent, one of the good sort that cherished his daughter, he didn't flinch at spending extra hours awake to help her with homework, to pack her a lunch, or to go to the occasional sports match in addition to his work. Teagan took occasional seminars and classes as well during his 'nights' in order to get extra certifications and extra money to prepare for his hopes of a daughter with a college degree debt free. Combined with his normal job, he's just used to long hours, long stress, and soldiering on.

Flaws:

Heart on His Sleeve -- His daughter Micky got her emotional nature from her father. Likewise they shared the inability to hide what they were feeling at any point. Teagan has strong emotions, and he can't hide them, even when it would be better to. He feels deeply, and its always plain to see- happiness, sadness, anger, everything. All his emotions are intense and easy to effect for others.

Soft-Hearted -- He's extremely susceptible of pity. If Teagan sees someone in trouble, suffering or in need, he absolutely will try to help them. This even bleeds into enemies- while he will fight, and fiercely so, when smoke is cleared everyone is a brother, sister, father, mother to someone out there. Leaving an opponent on the field suffering isn't in his vocabulary. He doesn't think of the repercussions or the difficulty of a situation before diving into it when there's suffering on the line. Unless a trap has it written in red neon letters, he probably won't think of that either before jumping in to try to help someone. Likewise, he can't see an animal on the side of the road that has been hit by a car and not try to do something. Teagan is the first to believe apologies and the last to expect betrayals.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Eyes: He has wide, expressive eyes with thick lashes. Bright, electric pink/red gradient

Hair: Mix of brown and auburn red (mostly at sideburns and in beard). Silver starting at his temples.

Face: Squared jaw, high cheeks, the cuts of his face are clear and planar. He has a prominent nose and irish features like Dennis Leary. His eyes have some hollow under them always now. He has a lot of freckles.

Clothes: Heather shirts and belted navy slacks. Dress shoes. Otherwise, he's in his fireman's gear.

(( All the city of Paphos, modernly split into New Paphos and Old Paphos, is actually a UNESCO site. There's a couple 'wonder'-worthy things if you took the city apart into component pieces, but the piece I was interested in was the necropolis, called the 'Tomb of Kings'...sooo....There are some knights named for very specific places and hills and some for whole cities...I've never done this. I don't know how it works. Halp. ))

Challenge: Games for the dead.

Uniform:

Top -- Chest Strap
Bottoms -- Fusion mycenaean/cypriot hellenistic tunic thing
Gloves -- nothing on arms
Belt -- 2 layers, a red sash and an over-belt that is single colour with trim on top and bottom.
Shoes -- interwoven leather strappy shoes
Shoulders -- nothing on shoulders
Accessories -- protective greaves, simple metal with coloured leather and beads.
Weapon --
A strip of leather

horse reins + magicy stuff...
Squire Magic:
By concentrating, Paphos summons to life a 10x10 square, a small funeral pyre (ustrinum), centered on himself. The whole area is filled with fire, smoke, and the sounds of chariots racing around the perimeter. Ancient pyres reached 1,400 degrees Celsius—leaving only incinerated fragments of metal and human bones after hours. Paphos himself is unhurt by the flames, the expectation of old being that the Knight of Paphos would see personally that the warfallen of Mars given to them were well arranged/seen to in their passing rites through the flames. The magic itself is stationary, though Paphos can walk around within it as he channels.
Paphos has enough energy to activate the flames for 20 seconds total, though it can be broken down in to smaller segments (ostensibly to have lit multiple pyres). The flames of his magic are temporary, but the extreme heat and fire can ignite nonmagical fires (such as using it near a pyre of wood to get it lit).

fancy chariot reins + magicy stuff...
Knight Magic:
Second verse, same as the first, but now Paphos has enough energy to activate the flames for 40 seconds total.

(thx to everyone that helped with suggestions on how to knight~)

Hello Ivy!!

The only thing I can say I was worried about is that his whole personality and hobbies seem to be centred on his daughter and the loss of her. We try and make sure that people don’t concentrate their characters personality/hobbies on one aspect that effects their whole life in case that aspect was ever removed, although I guess since he will never get over the loss of his daughter there will be little chance of that happening! And even if he was to corrupt he could either keep his civilian memories or lose his powered side, the former resulting in a re-write anyway…..SO LETS CONTINUE!

Hiking - What got him into hiking? Has it been a lifelong hobby? From school age or something he developed along with his daughter when she was old enough?

Knight Title: Paphos Page (Tomb of Kings) - Regarding his name I think the name Paphos is fine if your happy keeping it at that but if you wanted to be specifically the Tomb of Kings wonder if may start becoming a little difficult as you would have to take on that name…or risk someone using that name in the future if you take another….you know what? I don’t know myself XD I will throw this one to the mods|!

Magic –I just want to confirm; the fire his magic causes is magical in nature and not fire itself, but it can produce heat that can cause fire? Is that correct? Just taking it from “The flames of his magic are temporary, but the extreme heat and fire can ignite non-magical fires (such as using it near a pyre of wood to get it lit).” or is it that these flames are still very much flames and even though they last only 30 seconds they can ignite other material which will still be aflame long after the magic has finished? Now that I read it back its obviously the latter XD

I am thinking though that the time limit of the flames is too long, reducing it to 15 or max 20 for his squire stage should be plenty as although Paphos would remain unharmed and his opponent could move away from the flames (if they’re not stupid!) then its hardly a long time at all. But if Paphos managed to bear hug someone to stay within the flames they can be turned very crispy very soon! Lowering this time would reduce the chance of crispy death but still allow (god forbid why he would) to say hold someone within the magic!

And again for the knight stage to be reduce down to say 40 seconds?

He really likes being out and Doing, not to mention its a good excuse to sniff green air. The origins are from high school and college, the former because it was a good way to supplement being on the track team's distance running squad. The latter, college years, Teagan seriously considered being a ranger, which would have brought together his courage to tough situations with his love of the outdoors. His fiance was the deal breaker- a woman who loved city life and dreamed of a cute apartment above a business or bistro with one of those side doors and gates. After that it was something he did for exercise still, and then something that his daughter liked to do because small persons have SO MUCH ENERGY.

I'm happy to edit in any of that into the description text, I just remembered that some crits suggested that a life backstory wasn't wanted.

Yeah, it was extra hard for me since wikipedia and all other references to it do tend to hyphenate/use both like "Tombs of the Kings (Paphos)", "Paphos Archaeological Park (Paphos Odeon, Saranta Kolones, Tombs of the Kings)".
UNESCO's site has it listed as just Paphos overall, but in the article goes on to pick it apart into the notable features. Since the 7 hills of Rome (aventine, palatine, etc) were picked apart, I wasn't certain if I should use Paphos or Tomb of Kings (in which case...is he Tomb Knight? Tomb of Kings Knight? ). Thanks for KICKING THIS UP A KNOTCH to the mods /smooch

Reductions made! (yep, you read it right! flames are magical flames and can/do ignite nonmagical flames if there's something flammable there because of the intensity.)

[ Haha no your completely right about the crit not wanting a novel, I was just curious, and with it being focused on his daughter so much I just wanted to make sure that (and you have done so) there is more to his character than that fact.

The change to his powers would be fantastic! Let me throw you one of these

Ivynian

Hey, Ivynian!

This is a great profile and I feel so awful for this man!

To answer the question about naming, I think that if you wanted to call him Paphos that would be fine, but if you wanted his wonder to be specifically the Tomb of Kings then his name would have to be the untranslated/original name for the location, "Tafoi ton Vasileon". He could take a shorter nickname from this but that would be his official wonder!

I also have a question about his magic, though! Fires that burn that strong could cause a lot of immediate damage; even if the flames are magical, what sort of physical effect would this have on an opponent the attack was used on/near? Could they theoretically be burned by the nonmagical flames or would they just be subject to extreme heat/smoke/the distracting sounds? I think actually causing burns might be a little too strong—unless there is some time for someone to get away from the hottest parts of the fire if need be. (If you are thinking that the magical fires could cause burns to a person and not just start natural fires around it, is there any warning/any time for people to get away from the pyre?)

If I am misreading anything, I apologize—please quote me to let me know (or if you make any changes or have any questions or comments!) and I'll get back to you asap!
