She'd woken up extra early that day, and she didn't know why, nor did she know why she felt so happy. She had her moments of happiness but this was different. She felt energized and alive, and there was a spring in her step and music in her soul. There was not usually music in her soul.

She hummed as she set out in the noonday canopy-filtered light to seek out some seggan - because she was practically all out - and skipped, or whatever equivalent was possible for a khehora.

She felt good, she felt very good. A bit cold and stuffy, but generally, good, like she was floating in a cloud of good will. Why did she feel so happy today? Not that she was complaining, but it was, still, very unusual.

She'd been thanked That had to be it, but it couldn't be, could it? She'd been thanked by the magescan, but she had also been thanked before, in equally obscure and subtle ways. The people she lived with did not like to show their gratitude obviously, preferring to keep it under cover, and she had become used to it in the months she'd lived with her mother's tribe. They just did not like to say 'thank you' and neither, apparently, did the magescan.

So it couldn't have been the thanking alone that made her wiggle with residual happiness.

Perhaps it was because he had left her unharmed and thanked her anyway? Perhaps it was because he had needed her help and she'd given it? She wondered if it mattered why she felt this way. She wasn't sure it did!

Humming, she hop-skipped-waddled over to a seggan leaf peeking out of the leaf litter and carefully picked it and put it in her carrybag. She had no idea how long her good mood would last, but she was going to enjoy it while she did: yay, Seggan!

A shuffling from nearby drew her attention and damped her mood briefly at the thought of a predator. But no, it was day, and most of the scary beasts of Soldul were asleep... magescan then?

It was neither: a young Soldulan hastar stared warily out of the brush at Malta and she waved her tail.

"Awww!" she cooed, trying to smile nonthreateningly at it, "You're so cute!" It huffed and pawed the ground nervously.

"Come and play with me!" she said, crouching before bouncing towards it, humming happily.

The hastar saw a large khehora pounce towards it and was not taking chances. It bolted with all the speed and agility of its kind, mewling for its mother.

Malta skidded to a halt and frowned, before chirping admonishingly at herself. She shouldn't have run at it like that, she knew that. She had been very silly.

But... She couldn't help it. She just felt so amazing and energized.... she just had to run. She knew, though, that running scared animals. She didn't want to scare animals, not now. Not when there was just so much good feeling in her.

In that vein, she decided to Leave the hastar to its family and continue on her herb-picking, humming along her way.
