Pakolo Village was built inside a great cavern within a mountain. Because of its awkward location it does not often get attention from the outside world. People here are very weird and have their own culture. They do not revere the gods that everyone else does and instead worship the creatures they believed hollowed out the cavern. They are all very close knit, one giant family who are kind to one another. What they don't like is outsiders mettling in their affairs. Because of Pakolo's monoply on fine gems, gold, and other highly sought after ores many people from Yuran have tried to come and take control of the village. Each time people have rejected these advances, banding together to protect their community. Recently the leaders of Pakolo have been making a killing after increasing mining and production of jewels and other hand crafted items.

Finding the will to even rise in the morning was difficult for Auriel as of late. It was after her adventure with Castyfe, where they had eliminated the orc, when the nephilim had received the news. Her elder sister Aurelia had deserted them, renounced their father and turned away from them. It had been a blow to her heart so powerful the breath was literally knocked right out of her. She had stared at her father in disbelief, refusing to accept his words despite feeling it within her heart. Why had Auriel been unable to see the pain that her sister was in? The wounded girl had pleaded with her father to bring Aurelia back, to get her to see the light and stay with them. But he had refused. No matter that she was his daughter, she was free to choose her own path. "Do not hate her, Auriel. She may be walking down a road that is different from yours, but it is her own decision. No matter what becomes of her, Aurelia will always be your sister." Samael had placed a hand upon her shoulder and kissed the top of her head, disappearing in a shower of light. Auriel stood there, her head hanging low and tears flowing freely. Since that day Auriel had almost become a recluse. She would hardly leave the Advent, let alone show her face amongst the masses. It felt as if a piece of her had been removed forcefully, and the only solace she had was the two whom remained. Abigail had done her best to console her but even she had to fight through the emotional torrent Aurelia had left behind. Castyfe had become her crutch, and it was only for him that Auriel left her home. He had come with news of a mission posted on the boards in hopes of lifting her spirits. Jobs had always helped focus her and take her mind off of things. With a soft smile, the Nephilim had accepted.

Auriel had prepared very slowly. All of her actions felt hollow, devoid of any sort of joy or excitement for the coming mission. She awoke in a bland mood, showered amongst her shield sisters in silence, and even ate as if she was alone in the room. Auriel headed to her room and opened the closet that held her armor. Her sister had been sitting in the window, her face buried in a book. The halfling hadn't even asked her sister if she wanted to go out, so when the clang of her armor was heard it caught some attention. All Abigail did was raise an eyebrow while briefly meeting Auriel's eyes. With a shrug the girl began to dress herself. "Castyfe and I are off to Pakolo Village. We are being sent as envoys of Pronta to discuss possible trading between the two of them. Pronta wants their ores for military purposes and Pakolo is very stubborn about dealing with outsiders. Recently, their leaders have been more and more open about deals and such. Our higher ups want us to be the first to jump on this." Abigail held her gaze for a moment before unfolding her long legs and sitting back against the wall to read. Auriel lapsed into a comfortable silence and pulled a soft shirt over her head, followed by a leather garment and then her chestplate. For a moment Auriel sat and picked at the gilded gold workings of her armor. In it she saw her reflection, and in that she saw her sister Aurelia. She closed her eyes and took in a breath, letting those thoughts blow away in the wind. It would do her no good to be dwelling on the wound her sister left during a mission. Before leaving the Advent Auriel was sure to load her armory to the max and slipped on her favored gauntlets. For the life of her she could not imagine why Aurelia would feel their father was wrong. Why were they wrong? Had she even stopped to think about who else she was leaving behind? For years Auriel had looked to her elder sister for guidance, following in her footsteps and emulating her behavior. The love she had for Aurelia was strong enough to eclipse even the sun, and the ache she felt was almost unbareable. Auriel caught her breath when she realized her twin was holding her hand. The knowing look in her eyes left Auriel without having to say a word. Instead she embraced her sister and silently shed tears.

Auriel's four wings spread and stretched in the morning light. The Advent had openings facing every direction, but she always chose the one facing the sunrise. Something about it made her feel doused in the heavenly love and closer to her father. Today she took little time to revel in that feeling. Instead she let hersel fall from the landing and began to make her descent to the village where the mission was located. She had promised to meet Castyfe outside of it and knew she would probably be the first to arrive. As she flew through the air Auriel thought of nothing other than the feel of the wind through her hair and the weightlessness she felt while flying. It was truly an enchanting experience. As the hollowed out mountain came into view Auriel dipped and landed, letting her wings remain for just awhile longer. It was in this form that she felt whole, truer and stronger. She stood near the cliff edge, facing the morning sun. The halfling closed her eyes, her red hair blowing in the inescapable breeze when one was this high up. This was where she would wait for her friend.

They had been tasked with the chore of speaking to the monarchs of Pakolo village, and Castyfe wasn't exactly thrilled. He didn't mean to sound condescending, but this seemed so menial in hindsight. Of course, Castyfe was not dense, the supplement of ores would help his country in the long run, it just wasn't very fun. He could already picture it: A room full of delegates and monarchs, an oh-so-charming Auriel conversing with said delegates and monarchs, and a sullen Castyfe at her side. Throughout all his years of life, he had never encountered something so boring as politics. Maybe drying paint rivaled the unextraordinary spectacle. Perhaps he would be fortunate enough to die on the way there. That bliss would be unlikely though, given how damned hard it was to kill the Pagan.

The village resided inside a mountain, the air perpetually stained with the aroma of coal fires and mines. Somehow, this exotic looking capital managed to be prosaic in every sense. He sighed deeply, his face deadpanned. There was little to no enthusiasm in his eyes. There was one thing that he could appreciate in villages like these: there was no hedonists, no arrogant people, no selfishness, just a community that survived through sheer fortitude and an exemplary extenuating attitude. This attitude of theirs made the situation seem better, although the reality seemed quite bleak. It was strange, that this place was unfamiliar. Throughout his multiple centuries, the reclusive Pakolo hadn't been touched by the essence of this particular Pagan.

Castyfe's boredom quickly changed when he saw Auriel. She could make the entire trip worth it. It must have been so fulfilling, to fly. His mouth turned into a smile, as Cas approached the her. "Is something on your mind? Besides the dreadful thought that we have to go in there." He said, referring to Pakolo. Castyfe had a knack for reading people. It would have been disgraceful if he hadn't learned by now. "I know it may not be the time for it, but I still want to speak with you later, if I can." Castyfe had his reasons, but he felt that they both needed someone to talk to.

As Castyfe approached the nephilim she turned her head slightly, and then her body. The wings she had conjured began to fade away back into energy that quickly dispersed, leaving her as human as the next guy. But of course she wasn't. With a look of sadness in her eyes she beheld him, no words coming from her mouth. She reached out with one hand and took his, squeezing it lightlt and giving a half-hearted smile. "It will not be a problem, I assure you." Auriel spoke as she released his hand and turned to the entrance of Pakolo. It was a giant cavern partially descending into the ground, lined with hand carved buildings and other intricacies. All along the paths there were ingrained jewels and patterns, a clearly intentional choice. "I am sure we will have time later to speak, then you can tell me what it is you want." With those last words Auriel motioned for Castyfe to follow her into the village. They had been told that the people here were not very fond of outsiders, and relations with the citizens may not be an easy thing to maintain. The two of them had to be on their best behavior, or risk offending an entire village of people. One issue Auriel was acutely aware of was her natural presence. People tended to shy away from nephilim. Whether it was due to their 'holier than thou' aura or the people's inability to accept that they have not lived fully devout lives was unknown to her. Already as she walked through the village, clad in her gold and steel battle regalia there were people staring at her. It was not a look of fawning or even a sign of respect. They were glowering at her. Auriel did her best to leave her face devoid of signs of annoyance or challenge. She remained as passive as possible, and had even chosen to not come into the cavernous village with an equipped weapon. Auriel slowed her innately long gait to walk alongside Castyfe. As they walked deeper into the mountain the more of Pakolo they were able to see. Everything had a particular flavor per se, a clearly defined style that had been crafted over years of isolation. Even the way the buildings were shaped was different from anything Auriel had seen in Pronta and other parts of Yuran. The colors were rich and the designs mainly geometrical. The people were clad in spiraling bands of metal, twisting bracelets decorated with jewels and even pieces inlaid into their bodies. Auriel had seen a man with rubies embedded into his upper arm, making him appear as if he was half dragon with scales covering pieces of his body. When that man had caught Auriel admiring it he shot her a glare and turned away brusquely. "Does it not strike you as odd that the leaders of this village are suddenly seeking outside contracts? I mean, all you need do is meet the eyes of any person here to know how little they trust us." She said quietly, not seeking to agitate a crowd of people. And what she said was very true. A path was literally cleared for them, though not out of respect or kindness. It felt more akin to the villages moving away from a leper or some other ill-marked being.

After a few hours of walking and deciding they were properly lost, Auriel decided to try and get directions. She eyed the streets for an inn of sorts, maybe one that even sold something to eat. A sign advertising 'Glinting Gem Inn' caught her eyes. The halfing entered the establishment and walked up to the bar countertop that served as the proprietor's business area. "Hello, perhaps you can point out the way to the Town Hall." The man behind the counter literally ignored her, as if Auriel did not exist. Instead of growing angry Auriel nodded her head and turned away, a look of exasperation on her face. It seemed they would receive no aid from the villagers. "They're not gonna help you, outsider. But maybe I will." A gruff voice spoke from the corner of the room. Auriel beheld a rather deplorable man, dirty and very grimy looking. He motioned them over to join him at his table, and with a quick glance at Castyfe the nephilim shrugged and walked over. Right away she could tell that this character was insidious. A growing feeling of hatred grew in her; a natural reaction for Auriel to those plagued with evil intention. "You lookin' for the boss man and boss lady? Well you're not gonna find them." The man said with a laugh that sounded like shale shifting over itself, dry and rough. And then he lifted his cup up to his mouth and took a deep drought, offering no more information. Auriel clenched one fist slowly in an attempt to reign in the righteous wrath she was feeling towards the man. It would probably be a bad thing if she went on a cleansing crusade through this village right now. "What do you mean? Have they left the village?" Auriel inquired, keeping the steel in her voice down to a dull roar. The man chuckled and shook his head, taking his time nursing his drink before answering her. "In a manner of speaking. See for yourself. Big house on the West Hill." Auriel nodded her head and turned away from him quickly. Her desire to ram his skull into the wall behind him was overwhelmingly strong. It was not until they were outside that Auriel took a breath and quelled her rage. Sometimes being a nephilim meant
having to deal with the urge to slay the wicked whenever, even in the most inconvenient of times. After regaining her senses Auriel turned to Castyfe and talked. "What do you think he meant by that? I am not sure I understand..." She trailed off, looking for this West Hill the man spoke of. She'd let Cas lead the way for a bit when he was ready.

The wind rushed past the nephilim as she soared through the air. Her arms were held at her side and a smile plastered her face. The freedom of being up so high; no one could reach Auriel up here, no worries came along with her. But she knew her time was short. A calm settled over her as she titled one wing, angling downward in a slow, circling, descent. Up in the clouds her head always cleared. Maybe it was the fresh air or the lack of boundaries, whatever it was it had made the skies Auriel's favorite place to be. Her mind cleared of worries for Yuran and instead focused on her latest assignment. A shadowknight. These creatures were literally the opposite of Paladins such as herself. They dealt with unholy powers and black magics. In other words, they were a blight upon the world that needed eradication.

It seemed to Auriel that she had been here not too long ago. Castyfe had accompanied her on a mission to act as diplomats for the village. The mission had been a success and now there was active trade between Pronta and Pakolo Village. They'd been in constant communication and every now and then a request would come in from the undergound village for aid. Auriel assumed this shadowknight business was exactly that. Much as she had arrived before, Auriel flew upon the winds and landed near the entrance. She was apparently to be met by someone who would fill her in with details.

With a gauntlet reaching out for the young nephilim's hand again Isabella tried to hold it. "You know I wasn't done with you." She giggled softly as she wasn't to be expected within the area obviously. Her fingers wrapped around the young woman's hand just as softly as last time as she was looking around the area. "Shadow knights are always a pain aren't they? They can never decide if they are a knight or a necromancer." She asked softly as she was looking around almost refusing to let the Nephililm's hand go. Her glorious eyes were still scanning the entire area as she was trying to catch a glimpse of the target. It had been a while since she was on any mission so she thought to tag along with the Nephilim. "So why is it you only think of yourself as a weapon. That you also refuse to believe that you are more than such?" She asked Auriel as her eyes were still scanning the area. There was a valid reason why Isabella took interest within the young angel and it would probably be revealed over time.

As the duo entered the town of Pakolo, everything seemed safe and secure, the mission could've been a red herring. That was until a female's blood curdling scream could've been heard in the north sector of the town, all the way on the other side of town from where they were. Upon the full arrival, skeletons in clothing could've been seen strewn about, buildings having been burned down here and there, and even the children weren't safe. A few beheaded bodies of children, draconian and nephilim included, were found inside of a pentagram. Soon, a black armor was seen moving another child's body over to the pentagon, the face mask open as he was feasting on the head of the newest child. Fresh blood was pooling from the neck, leaving a trail as he seemed to have been making something bigger than the pentagram. Once he reached the Pentagram, he tossed the body haphazardly onto the other children's corpses, his face mask closing as he dropped the half eaten head of the Kiranu. He was quick to stamp it into the ground with his foot, splattering blood onto the ground while his boot was drenched in the blood. His face mask closed, blood had been dripping from his mouth before he turned towards the entrance of the town. He had the twisted grin of any unnatural being and drew out his blood-soaked black steel blades as he released his energy to direct the new foes towards his area.

Auriel visibly flinched when Isabella pushed her hand back into the nephilim's. How had she gotten there so quick and managed to sneak up on her? The halfling chalked it up to her being too focused on the shadow knight to notice. The redhead turned and looked down at the woman, raising a singular eyebrow. Why had the queen taken such an interest in a half fledged nephilim? Being honest with herself Auriel found it disconcerting. She did not have any ambitions outside of putting an end to the wicked. Getting close with higher ups usually led to favors and promotions. The girl had never meant to catch someone's eye like that. "They are evil beings. They have turned away from the one true god and use their strength for wicked deeds when they could be doing good." Her words were straight to the point and even terse. It wouldn't be false to say that Auriel was unsure how to act around Isabella. With her sisters jokes and fun came as easily as the wind did. Even with Castyfe a smile was usually adorning Auriel's face. But when it came to business and duty there was no room for laughter. Yet here the queen was asking trivial questions and even making jests. The nephilim shifted her position and gently removed her hand, wanting to be ready for the first sign of trouble. Keeping her golden eyes on the entrance to Pakolo, she spoke. "I think you misunderstand. My duty is who I am. What I am. When the angels mixed with humans the nephilim were born, and in them was born the desire to serve so long as they were able to vanquish the forces of darkness from this world. It is who I am meant to be, who I want to be. Anything else is..." Auriel hesitated for a moment, taking her bottom lip lightly underneath her teeth. It was a habit she had with her from childhood, one that had not died away. What was it that Castyfe had said? He loved her. Of course Auriel assumed he meant as a friend, and she loved him much in the same way. Her response had been that her one true love was the righteous fight. It wasn't a lie, she saw little room for much else. For if she rested and chose to spend her time on wanton cravings, who would there be to stand between the unholy and the innocent? Auriel resolved herself and nodded her head before finishing her sentence. "Unimportant." And for now, she absolutely meant that.

There was little time for further conversation, for the screams of a woman cut through Auriel like a knife. She reached behind her and pulled the Bulwark of the Angel's from its holster, fitting it to her arm as she sprinted forth. Nephilim had the ability to bound with each step so it wouldn't take long for Auriel to find the source. A sickening aura enveloped the area, and it was only through the grace of god that the nephilim pushed forth. Shadowknights were very similar to Paladins in how they worked, save for them being on the opposite spectrum of righteousness. Every body of children, women, and men alike enflamed the young nephilim. She found herself gripping the handle to her shield with such force and nearly shaking. The girl needed to get ahold of herself before any mistakes were made. There was already no doubt in her mind that malice had twisted this being into nothing more than a beast. Auriel would be the one to put it down. The armory gauntlet shined with a momentary glory and in her hand appeared a golden, winged spear. The nephilim banged the spear against the shield thrice, for if her aura had not made herself known then the noise surely would. "Come, beast! Witness the glory of the Angels and fall beneath my righteous might!" Auriel had shouted these words in demonica. Initially her sisters had found it queer she wanted to learn the language, but Auriel knew it would come in handy when it came to delivering the last rites to an opponent.

With the sound of a scream everything else was pushed from her mind. The words spoken by the 'girl' would be addressed later. However now was the time to end the shadow knight before any harm could come to anyone el... Her mind went blank when she saw a Kinaru child half eaten drop from the knight's arms. A child... that was all her mind could currently process within this moment. A child... the thought came again, and again, and again. Her energy spiraling as this was an atrocity that shook even her. Shell shock ripped her to her core as hundreds of years worth of war brought her back to her other half. Every negative emotion within her began to surface within her soul. Forming into a single entity and deeming itself a part of her. This entity would be known as 'The Darkness'. The Darkness has always been apart of her since her first war and it was always a difficult thing to get to surface. However when someone did manage to get The Darkness to surface bad things happened everywhere. Her energy turned to a deeper color and she gritted her teeth and let out a fierce war cry. Running forward the darkness made her eyes glow and she was under full influence of it finally. Approaching from the side of the shadow knight she was going to end this quickly. Throwing forward her fist she was about to hit the knight directly in his chest.

The being merely laughed at the sight of Auriel, but was more interested in the queen who took advantage of trying to get to him. However, her speed was quick, his reflexes were better as he caught her reaper claw hand with nothing but his own hand. He managed to grasp her wrist while holding the same blade in his hand as he shook his head. "Such arrogance.... and infront of a being such as myself.... your darker self would be ashamed to have ever known you." The being spoke as he raised his right sword up, wind covering the blade as it roared in anguish. He soon heard the clanging as he released the queen's hand before she had a chance to strike at him and jumped away. He looked to see the Nephilim in the sky calling out to him and had a dark grin. "An angel of Michael's? I skull-screwed a head of an Angel before!" He shouted before he released a strong wave of energy out towards Auriel. It was obvious that this being was no ordinary shadowknight... but he was something more sinister than even Kumori might've not known.

Auriel followed Isabella's charge, completely ignoring the shadowknight's taunt. She would pray for the fallen later, now was the time for eradication. The opponent was at a total loss apparently and had no idea where the nephilim actually was, for she was not in the sky. The wave of energy sailed overhead without even the slightest threat to Auriel, who instead jumped off of the ground and raised the bulwark up, holding her arm close to her body. She easily cleared the reaper and with the grace of an angel she twirled her body, thrusting her shield downward to bash it into the skull of the shadowknight. In her presence it would suffer a weakness to any holy powers, which any weapon in Auriel's hand was considered as such, on top of any weaknesses he already suffered.

Gritting her teeth she growled as time seemed to slow down for her. She was able to plan everything as energy was flowing through her gauntlets. Then the shadow knight looked up to the nephilim. Oh the arrogance of this one was indeed going to be his downfall. As her fist was still caught within his hand she used his distraction to her advantage. Charging her entire body full of energy she smiled like a demon as she grabbed his hand. Raising it up quickly and bringing it back down she would break his hand through the armor letting her go. Two large gauntlets of energy burst into existence at the same time grabbing his neck and his other wrist holding them in place. She moved his head down to her with her created arm so that this technique would hit him entirely. Kneeling down her eyes were glowing with rage as energy shot her up. Raising her gauntlet directly in front of his face her gauntlet would connect with him sending him flying into the air backed with her immense strength. This was going to be it for the shadow knight as The Darkness was currently influencing her still. Telling her to destroy this individual until he ceased to exist completely.

The being watched as Auriel charged in towards him, jumping over the queen to try and slam her shield down onto his head. It would prove to be worthless as he thrusted his right sword out, Pure dark energy covering it, however it wasn't going to be filled with holey energy as he stopped the shield in place, the ground however didn't give a single break as he was more than capable enough of stopping the shield with his sword. The holy energy she produced was mocking him at best, but the light was a bit sickening. He soon felt the queen's wrath on his fingers as she dislocated them while he was pulling his hand away. But with the darkness being abundant around them, his malleable body was very quick to re-assign the digits back into place. He soon felt two gauntlets trying to hold him in place before he grinned underneath the mask as he was hit into the air hard from the uppercut afterwards, this worked into his favor however as the face mask broke slightly. He soon spun himself into the air, effectively landing in the skies as he skidded a bit to a stop. "I'm out of your league whores!" He shouted before shooting out several arrows of darkness towards the foes.

Auriel's shield met the blade with a clang, and she gritted her teeth as she collided against it. The bulwark would not break even with a hit like that. Rather than collide with her ally the nephilim used the moment where they stopped to push off and lean forward, effectively flipping herself over the shadow knight and dodging the arrows. Golden energy enveloped Auriel and burst away from her, and immediately after another surge of energy shot forth. A ball of light would appear in the sky and bask the area in rays so bright they may as well have been standing under the sun. The first wave would wash through the entire area and remove auras and passives that the shadowknight may have had. The nephilim was not done yet, and her positioning would provide her with a unique opportunity to provide utility and debuff her target.. "It is time for an early judgment!" Once more energy poured from her body and spread into the area. At once the shadowknight's mind would be clouded with all the wicked deeds he had committed. They would swirl in his mind and push down on him.

With her jaw clenched she let out a soft grown as she held her gauntlet above her head. Creating a large shield of energy above her head the arrows were easily halted. When the arrows ceased the energy broke down and she looked to see her partner harming him with sunlight and other abilities. She knew this was her opportunity as she had to make this quick. With wings coming out of her back she dashed forward with a new found speed. Then when she looked up she saw her partner weighing down upon their enemy even further. This was her time to strike! This was her time to end this menace who would crush the purest of things in existence. "Your soul is mine!" She shouted in a war cry as she used the Shoryuken technique again. Energy propelling her up her guantlet would make contact with his head yet again. When this would happen she would fly up and meet him. Flying past him she would then halt and start to fly back down and create an entire new limb made of energy. The energy formed into a gauntlet the size of a two story house. Pointing the gauntlet down to him she flew down towards him and threw her fist towards the knight. Using a technique from the raging fist. The technique was known as an armor destroyer that combined with the size of the creation technique would surely destroy his entire being. "Now just die!" She shouted at the top of her lungs as the giant arm was about to collide with him.
