Prior to the island-wide exposure to Revenge, Stormy spent her time getting her things together, buying a few new ones to add, and overall cleaned up what had been a mostly organized but somewhat dusty-floored room. Gale was away on some new mission which was perfect timing, as now she could move in, get everything settled, and then welcome him back in her new pad. The one she hadn't earned.

With some awkward Twittering abound (her cheer easy to fake through texts) and a question reclining like a cat at the back of her mind (who should she give the room to?), the plan had been set. In the late morning one message was sent out to those who had offered to help:

Quote:
Text from Stormy:
Ready to move! I'll be waiting in #177!

Thank God for the mass compendium of numbers constantly being updated; Ever's hadn't been hard to find. In the meantime she began checking around for other articles of trash to toss away, astounded by the amount of crumpled paper balls hidden under her bed.

Most of the anger and revenge had bled out by now, he'd had a good shouting match in his room and punched a few walls while keeping himself mostly in check and not running out to punch Tuck in the face. Most of his anger was directed at a dead girl and himself so what could did he have to get revenge at that point? The revenge was bright, but burned fast, gone before it took root.

Instead he was now gathering a few broken down boxes to head to Stormy's room and help with the moving process.

Once he was at the door he gave it a few kicks with his foot, "Hey Stormy? It's Roland, open up my arms are full, I brought extra boxes."

Lex received the text with a groan, having just woke up himself. More nightmares had been penetrating his sleep recently, clammy and alone with a thin sheet to support him. The contents made him perk up a bit, seeing as it was from his favorite daughter Mist. A quick shower and three mugs of coffee, a fresh set of clothes, and a practiced smile were all he needed before the stubble sporting man knocked on Stormy's door.

"Stormy? It's Lex."

He was awake, for better or worse: awake and there fairly soon, with bags under his eyes and rumpled hair. He hadn't met any of these people but that was alright. Peyton had suggested that Ever make himself useful, and so he would, eyeing the door with his hands in his pockets, maybe still contemplating running and leaving this to the big Hunters and the friends instead of playing interloper on a somewhat private moment.

The dreams really must have been getting to him if he was worrying about what strangers thought. Ever settled across the hall, sagging against the wall to watch until they got things going. Then he could slide in to help, for better or worse.

The door opened and Stormy had a bright smile of her own to greet them. "Hi! Oh, uh, don't worry about the boxes," she added sheepishly as she saw Roland's catch. "I scrounged some up beforehand. But how thoughtful!" Rather, she had done a lot more than just that in the time between the Twitter messages and now, which probably excused the delay. She wanted to make this as easy on her volunteers as possible.

She opened the door wider and invited the trio to come inside. Trainee rooms weren't exactly spacious to begin with (and the second bed certainly ate some room up), but Stormy had cleaned out everything she thought valuable and stuck them in labeled boxes of varying sizes: clothes, personal items, unfinished reports and other miscellany, tech, more clothes, shoes, one simply labeled "Nevada." Both beds had their sheets folded and their pillows next to them. Leaning against the wall was a long, simple skid. Next to it was a converted digital piano and a padded stool.

"Thanks again for coming, guys," Stormy said. "Between us it won't take but a few trips! There are water bottles on the dresser if you need any, and like I said, I'll pay you guys back once we're done. Any questions?" She had decided against asking how either Lex or Roland were doing; those questions would come later once the work was done and she could relax.

Two others joined him outside the door, one a familiar face. Setting his box pile down he offered a hand to Lex, "Hey, been a while Lex." The last time they had spoke they had been fighting over Nevada, or rather Roland had been, he hadn't seen the Life hunter since then.

Turning to Ever he raised a hand in a wave, "I think I've seen you on Twitter, Ever right? I'm Roland." He went to offer a hand as well to him when Stormy finally opened the door.

"Eh? Ah. Crap. Oh well I'll just store them for later. I should be up for promotion soon myself so I'll end up needing them." He turned to enter the room and take a look at the boxes pausing on the one that said Nevada. He didn't move to grab anything, he just looked at the box quietly.

He preferred to call it fashionably late.

Otto jogged up to the room, panting lightly as he let himself inside. "Sorry.." Otto murmured, looking like he'd rolled right out of bed. He'd slept in, or perhaps had a nap that lasted much too long.

He pointedly ignored the side of the room Nevada used to occupy, focusing on the group that was there.

Lex gave a polite smile to Ever and Roland both, shaking hands with the latter when offered. "Well, there haven't been many opportunities." He excused, shaking his head. Truth was that Lex was still a little cautious about Roland and his apparently wavering emotional stability.

Lex avoided direct eye contact with Stormy, looking a little to the left of her face, along where her jaw line started. "Pleasure." The Life trainee replied, skirting towards the corner of the room. He'd take boxes up a level, maybe grab a water bottle - but he wasn't so sure he was really welcome here. He wasn't quite sure of most things at the moment.

Then Otto barged in like a bat out of hell. If there was once thing Lex was sure of, it would be that Otto's presence would make things either easier or extremely awkward, depending on what he knew.

He smiled regardless, giving Otto a small wave as he screamed internally.

Ever took Roland's hand with a tired sort of smile, flat and unconvincing, his eyes sweeping over the rest of them. Perhaps another day, he would have been all cheery jokes, poking fun, strangers or no. Instead he'd take hands and blink at them, nodding at Roland, and quickly turning his focus onto Stormy.

No offense intended. They just weren't why he was here today.

"Where are you moving to? I mean. Upstairs, but...number?" He asked the question as he slid away to grab a box, and then paused to offer her a hand, as well. "Uh, and sorry, nice to meet you as well."

"Oh? Congrats ahead of time then," she chirped at Roland, already on the move to nudge likeminded boxes closer together for no overt reason, though it did partially obscured the Nevada one from sight. Stormy looked up as she heard Otto's drowsy voice and burst into another big smile. "Glad you could make it! Really quickly--" They were making introductions somewhat already, so she figured she'd speed it along by pointing. "Otto, Lex, Roland, and our new guy Ever! This'll definitely go quickly."

There was no sign of her recognizing that she might have accidentally intorudced an awkward moment between the former three, nor that her last encounter with Lex in particular had been . . . less than pleasant. She was all smiles and energy as usual (as expected).

Stormy indicated the various boxes holding her clothes. "Let's start with the light stuff. Otto, Roland, Ever, you guys take those. Lex, can you handle the box of tech for me?" It wasn't heavy so much as a bit overfilled, holding the converted dvd player, all of her movies (all Disney save for The Nightmare Before Christmas), her iPod and the accompanying set of earbuds, and a broken cellphone down at the bottom. She figured letting the guy (Lex, not Mr. Lex) from a division all about steady hands handle the carrying.

"We're going to #221," she answered Ever, happily taking his hand and giving it a shake. "Not too far from the stairs. Just a diagonal step from Otto's room, actually!" She took up the single box of Nevada's things, the lable pressed to her stomach, and waited for them to grab boxes before leading them out.

Otto gave the other men a look, and said nothing. No greeting, no nod. Nothing. He was here to help Stormy. That was all.

He was surprised to hear her room was right across from his own. That made navigating back and forth a lot easier on him. The teen, keen on showing off his upper body strength from years of wielding a six foot boomerang, piled a few boxes on top of each other and carried them out the door.

He felt confident. He knew where he was going.

Right, introductions. He pretty much knew everyone, besides Ever - and Stormy quickly took care of that. She also took care of the "Nevada" box quite quickly. Still grieving, he assumed. Or at least she hadn't yet let the thought of the poor girl die along with her body. A small frown pulled at the corners of his lips - she really needed to let go. People died on this island all the time, and two months or more of grieving each time would do them no good.

"Mmkay." He responded, picking up the stacked box of gear and movies with relative ease, steady hands keeping anything from shaking. She'd dropped the Mr. when addressing him. Hm, maybe that was a good thing? Less formalities were good in relationships, typically.

He decided to put the thoughts in his back pocket for the time being, instead focusing on the work they were here to do.

It wasn't exactly laziness that made Ever only pick up one box, so much as it was an old familiarity: others might be used to their strength by now, but to Ever it was still a novelty. He wasn't used to lugging around piles of things, to being able to lift as much as he could now. It'd only occur to him as a problem when he fell into step next to Roland, to follow him wherever the room was -- because, really, out of all of them, he was the most familiar face.

Of course, once he saw other people lugging mountains of boxes, Otto who seemed barely legal half-hidden under a pile of them, he could have taken more.

He didn't.

"I feel strangely outclassed right now." That was a bit more like himself: faintly amused, distractedly so, as he took in the rest of them.
PostPosted: Sat Jun 28, 2014 8:03 pm

He made sure he said nothing to Otto and he made no moves towards the box with Nevada's name on it, instead like Otto he went and grabbed a few extra boxes, two for his stack one shy of Otto's before filing into line to start moving. Behind him he glanced at Ever.

"You get... a little more use to the strength. I ummm might have almost decked Peyton in a spar a while ago with just my fist. Would have broken a nose without shields."

"Be fair to yourself, Mr. Ever!" she chirped as she went up the stairs. "All of us have been here for a while so we're used to it; plus the higher in rank you go, the easier you'll find things. It helps that Otto and I handle heavy weapons, too."

Room 221's door was already open by the time they reached it. Next to the number plate was a little sticky note with a big b; under the plate was another sticky note that read Baker Street.

Still seeming oblivious to the awkwardness, Stormy gingerly dropped Nevada's things by the opposite wall without fuss. "So, how has everyone been?" she asked as she turned to get more boxes. "That last mission was . . . fun after all, huh?"
