This is a Private RP between myself and Wasteland Wyvern. Featuring my Miela and her Leilani.

Miela landed hard, flaring her wings wide as her talons dug deep into the soft soil. That was one of the things she didn't like, why she preferred the rocky terrain of her mountain home. She shook the dirt off her claws and folded her wings carefully. It was nice to explore the far reaches of where her wings could take her, though. To stretch and fly and forget her troubles for a short while.

Mei walked to a small stream nearby and took a drink, bowing gracefully to the water. Her reflection flashed at her for a second, tones of brown and winter. She could hide easily in woods, if she chose too. But she didn't have anything to fear here. Perhaps she would have someone to speak to, soon. This place was common for other Soquilli to gather at. Perhaps she would find someone she could call a friend. It was awfully lonely trying to deal with her daughter. She still had her nephew to meet, but for the time being, it was just her and her daughter, whom she hadn't seen in some time.

Lifting her head from the water, she looked around, head tilted.

Leilani walked slowly through the woods and out onto the plains where her current journey would bound. She had recently visited the seashore and could still smell the salt. Shaking her head and took in a deep breath through her nose and tried to discern if there were any predators around. She could smell something different, and while cautious wanted to see who is was she was smelling. She came to the top of a small hill that stretched downward in front of her, a small stream running nearby with a trickling sound and saw an odd sight. Another soquili with wings, but this one was pelted brown and white with black markings. It was the sharp claws and beak that gave her pause. Clawed things were usually predators but this one didn't seem threatening.
Walking slowly down the hill, one wing opening and closing with a nervous gesture she called out tentatively, "Greetings traveler! Its nice to see another around here. I haven't seen anyone for what seems like ages." She hoped that she had no need to use her wings to escape should this turn sour.

Miela turned her head and looked up the small hill. The mare licked the water off her beak and nodded at the other. She was obviously crossed with something. Wind, and maybe a unicorn? Her interaction with the uni before had been pleasant, so she didn't think that this stranger would hurt her in anyway.

Stepping slowly out of the mud at the edge of the river, she shook the dirt of her claws again. It was a growing problem, so she retreated to the grass and responded to the mare. "Greetings. It seems like a long time for me, as well, stranger. How odd that we can travel for so long without running into another living soul. I did see some birds a while back, but other than that..." She trailed off with a little blush. "Sorry. I am Miela, traveling to nowhere in particular." She bowed her head slightly, a traditional greeting. "Its rather nice to meet you."

Miela unfolded her wings for a moment, stretching them out to their full length and shaking out the muscles that she'd strained bringing herself there. After a a long stretch, she folded them back down and tilted her head, waiting for a reply.

Leilani watched as the other made a small bow of the head after her greeting. It was an unusual gesture and one she logged for possible use later. Leilani was a plethora of information, having an almost photogenic memory. "It is odd how one can travel and not see another though in my line of work that can be a blessing." She paused, "My apologies, I am called Leilani, and I travel as a wandering healer. It is quite nice to meet you as well." Leilani flicked her wing open and closed again. Meeting new people oft made her nervous even if the other didn't have a threatening aura. She was traveling back to help her herd sister Blight with her coming children. Blight was a new mother and would be nervous as all get out and it would help to have a healer along.
"If you don't mind my asking, what species are you? I don't mean to sound rude but I have never come across one of your kind before..." She hoped Miela didn't take it wrong by her saying species. Lei was very scientific, calling other types of Soquili as species.

"Ah, a healer?" Miela watched her flick her wing out and close it again. A nervous gesture, perhaps? "You must meet so many Soquilli doing what you do. It really is an amazing talent, to be able to heal someone else." She bowed again, a little deeper, out of respect for the other mare's chosen profession. Mei imagined that it was difficult one. "A pleasure, Leilani."

She looked down at herself for a moment, wondering at the quesion, before letting out a trilling laugh. "No, I do not mind you asking. I am a hippogryph." She flexed her claws, holding one up so that the healer could see it. "I'm not surprised you haven't seen one of my kind before. And you aren't rude or anything." She laughed again. "Better to ask than to wonder. I guess I could seem scary to someone who'd never met me, but I am nice, actually, in case you were wondering."

Miela lowered her leg, claws resting gently on the grass. "What brings you out this far? Were you on the way to help someone?"

"Ah I am so glad that I did not come off as rude. I tend to be very odd about my way of speech and some do take offense to being called a 'new species' in my eyes." She laughed lightly, a light airy sound. She lowered her head and examined the claws on Miela's feet. They seemed strong and could be a powerful weapon.
Leilani smiled in an almost unhappy way when asked if she was traveling to help someone. "I am indeed traveling to help someone. My herd sister in fact. She found herself unexpectedly pregnant and well the arts of a half unicorn healer could be useful for a first pregnancy." Leilani smiled, thinking of the message brought to her by her herd brother Senshi's parrot familiar. Aurum had been horrified at the thought of young foals running around. He had picked up Senshi's fear of young ones.

Miela seemed amused at the attention to her claws, holding one up so that she could see them clearly. "This is not my first time coming across someone who didn't know what a hippogryph was. Though, you are the first to have asked outright like you did." She nodded, as though agreeing with herself. "And I think that's the best way to go about it.

"You aren't the first unicorn I've come across. My daughter is part unicorn. I... met someone, some time ago." She admitted, glad she didn't blush like some of the other soquili she had met. "He was a healer too."

Miela huffed a laugh. "Yeah, I can imagine that just having you around would be enough to calm her nerves a little. She must be so stressed, if it is truly unexpected. Poor dear."

Leilani looked up from examining Miela's claws and smiled shyly. She was so fascinated by the claws that she had lost the conversation almost but thankfully Miela brought it back to the fore of her mind. "You have children yourself? You are very lucky, I've always wanted to find a mate and have children but with my travels it seems fated to not happen any time soon." She sighed heavily then smiled to let Miela know that she was joking in a good way.
Leilani thought of Blight and how the father had Kalona blood. The last message sent by the parrot had stated that and that Blight was worried the father would steal her children once they were born. "Well to be honest its not just new mother nerves. She is worried the father might spirit away one or more of them to raise in the ways of the Kalona as he is half blooded himself." Leilani tried to hide the feelings that were bubbling beneath the surface of her mind. If she ever found that Kalona blooded beast she would give him a taste of what she thought about impregnating mares and running off!

Miela offered her a smile of her own, knowing that something different could be endlessly fascinating, and lowered her claw to the ground again. "Yes, I think I really was. Ciela is my daughter, though she is grown now and is temped by a herd so far away. I rarely see her." She lowered her eyes a moment, then looked up again, determined. "But I hope to talk some sense into her. As for her father... well, he was not my mate. He had helped me and... one thing lead to another." She grinned. "So, you never know, you may just end up with a child or two of your own unexpectedly." Laughing sofly, she tucked her wings in close to her and gave a bright smile.

"A half-Kalona? My." That was a concern then, that he might try to take one of her children away from her. "Won't the herd protect them? My my, I hope nothing like that happens. I don't know what it would be like, having a child taken. I can't imagine it."

Leilani looked down with a shy smile on her face. She'd met a few Stallions that had taken her breath away and had promised when she came back that way that she would look them up, but Miela's explanation of how her child was far away halted that train of thought. That was exactly what she feared was having children and them wandering off on their own. She knew it was expected of children to go their own way eventually but the thought of it broke her heart in advanced. Shaking her head she said, "Well even though she is far away at least you have her in your heart Miela. That is something I fear is having children and watching them wander away eventually. I don't think I could find reasons to stop them that make sense, you know?"
She shook her head at the mention of Blight's herd protecting her and her children. "Sadly no. I don't think anyone in our little herd could stop a determined Kalona, even if he's only half blooded." She looked up at Miela hoping the other mare would understand the plight they all faced if Svanbjorn came for his children.

"Yes, I have her in my heart and in my thoughts. I would like to see her more, true. But, well, she is grown and does have to make her own choices." Heaving a heavy sigh, Miela shook her head. "I just wish those choices kept her closer to me."

She nodded. "I had that worry as I was raising her. We were alone, so it was easy to be afraid of letting her go, and being alone again. But the time we had together was worth the fear, I think." She folded her wings down. "So, it would be an easy choice for me to have children again, even knowing they will one day wander off to live their lives. If you take anything from this ramble of mine," laughing a little self consciously, she ducked her head, "it's that you should try."

Miela snorted, annoyed and angry on behalf of this mare she'd never met. "That's just horrible!" She dug her claws into the dirt and snapped her beak on open air. "A mother to be should not have to live under that stress, and the children... I can not imagine it being allowed."

She listened intently as Miela explained that letting go of her child was saddening but still in a way good. She couldn't help the smile that came aferward, "You are right. If I ever had children be it out of lifemate or lifemate I will let them go with a heavy but happy heart when its time."
Miela wasn't happy with the news of the Kalona possibly taking the children. She watched how the hippogryph reacted, feeling the same herself but unable to do anything. "Would you be interested in traveling with me? Maybe with someone as strong as you around there will be no chance of him stealing the children." She was hopeful the other mare would consent but if not she would understand.

Miela smiled at her, happy to have made an impression, and perhaps a friend. It wasn't often she got to talk to anyone outside her family. "I think you would make a great mother, life mate or no."

"I..." She paused to consider what she was being asked, making little claw marks in the grass as she thought. It wasn't something Miela should just agree too without thinking, but... She couldn't stand the thought of the children being taken away from their mother. If they chose to go with their father when they were older, that was one thing, but... "If I can help, I want too. I'm not as strong as a Kalona, nor am I very good at fighting, but I will help anyway I can. So..." She smiled again, a strong, sure smile. "Where are we heading?"
