Valyrmora sat in Cosine's library with a selection of books out on the desk. She had no idea how she had found out information before the fading but she was pretty sure it hadn't been through reading books. She was studying the pre-fading book of worlds. Cosine had kept an index of locations travelled by different gods and goddesses. She was sure that many of them would not exist any more, but some might and she would take her chances. She was looking for specific types of worlds, ones with a love of war. To rebuild her realm she would need to rebuild the army of the Underworld, a dream team of warriors. Should the grigori attack she was sure they would be useful.

To find a warrior worthy she needed to find a war, she needed spirits who had died a warrior's death, fallen in battle and collected by the Valkyries. She ran her finger down the index of books looking for either something that rang a bell with her or something that sounded war-like.

Kyrie had been searching for her aunt for a while since she had returned home from the cemetery with Isi. The questions she had were burning and she wanted answers badly. She just hoped she'd be able to put them all to words to get satisfying answers.

Wandering into her mother's library, her feathers fluffed with happiness as she spotted her sitting at one of the tables with her head bent over something she was studying closely. Bouncing over to the table, she dropped herself uninvited into a seat beside her and peered down at the book she was looking at.

"Hello Auntie Val. What are you doing?" she asked with polite interest. She really hoped she wasn't too busy.

Val was aware of her niece as she bounced into the room. It was hard not to notice, she jangled with the jewellery she liked to wear.
"Hello there Kyrie." She said, keeping her finger in place and glancing to her niece. It was odd seeing the children grown up, stranger than perhaps a god that had evolved from a gem. She looked at her niece for a moment before answering.
"I'm looking for something. A world, or worlds. What are you up to?"

Kyrie peered a little closer at where her aunt's finger had stopped on the page, but she could not make much sense of it. It seemed to be a list of some sort. Smiling as she was greeted, she looked up at Val in time to see her watch her for a moment. Feeling only slightly self conscious, she reached up to straighten a wayward feather, then her eyes lit up as she revealed what she was looking at.

"Oh! Are you thinking of going on a journey somewhere?" she asked with quite a bit more interest. "I'm not up to much. I was just walking around the old church and cemetery with Isi. He was telling me of his plans," she smiled warmly. "He says that I'm going to be able to help him plan some things out and with the decorating once it's built."

"That's exciting." Val wasn't really surprised, he was an industrious young man and very thoughtful. It would be a good first step in taking control of his realm. "I'm sure you'd be good at helping him decorate." Kyrie had a keen eye for that kind of thing. "I am planning on a journey. I need to build my army, but I have quite specific criteria. I'm fussy." She smirked and leaned back in the chair. "I want skilled, strong warriors though there's a catch, they need to be dead."

Kyrie preened a little at the praise she received, then listened intently to her aunt. Laughing a little as she said was fussy, Kyrie shook her head then suddenly remembered why she had been seeking her out. But just as suddenly as that thought had struck, another followed quickly after.
"But... if they are dead, how strong and skilled could they possibly be?" she asked with a puzzled expression in her eyes. "How do you find such spirits?"

Val removed her hand from the book and turned to face her niece.
"Have your parents told you how the Underworld works?" She was curious, Isidore knew about it, though he was more obviously linked, they may have overlooked Kyrie's ties to the realm of the dead. "The living cannot go there, that is why I have not been able to go there until recently. Because of my host. If the living cannot go there then they cannot defend it. So I need an army of spirits, they are special."

Had her parents told her about the Underworld? Not plainly, she thought. There had been conversations about things that had to do with the Underworld, but she had never had a lesson about it. Or perhaps she had never paid close enough attention.

"I think that I knew that the living could not go there," she admitted. "But I don't think that I ever stopped to think about that very deeply. Death has always been a part of my world, but only ever on the edges. The first time I ever encountered it was when I found Maggie. Her mother had been killed by something and Isi and I had a small funeral for her. I do remember when we called all of the spirits to us to try to help Daddy, there was a feeling in the air. Something very real even though I could not see what was happening. Oh! But... I think that has changed now. While I was in the cemetery I saw something and Isi said it was a spirit. I felt drawn to it. I wanted to know more about it."

"Well, your curiosity is natural." She was pleased that Kyrie could see the spirits, Crows had long been guides for the lost ones. The more of them that could see the spirits, the more of them could guide them and help Ankou out with his job.
"The spirits will be drawn to you naturally, like they are drawn to me and your dad. We guide them to the Underworld, your father and the Valkyries can use Soul Paths, you might be able to too. You'll have to speak with your father about that. It's still out of my realms of ability. Once in the Underworld they can progress to rebirth."

"Oh! I do remember that, about what happens to them once they are in the Underworld. But... you really think that they are drawn to me? Are you saying that I am like my dad? That I can guide them to the Underworld?" she asked with a look of awe settled over her face. The thought that she could be a spirit guide had never crossed her mind. All she had known in her youth was her crows. Sure she had used them to call the spirits to the church, but it had not dawned on her what she was really doing with them. These new revelations only opened up so many more questions for her.

"How will I know what to do? Do you think I failed that spirit by not helping it?"

"I think it is entirely possible. You are the child of a spirit guide after all. And as for how you know, well I suppose you will learn. Sann can teach you and your father can of course." She closed the book and moved it to the pile of others that she had worked her way through.
"Why don't you come with me? I'm going to be travelling to battlefields hopefully, there will be many spirits there, I will take Sann with me to help with the spirits, you can come too and learn from her."

Warmth flooded through her at the thought that she might be able to do the things her father could, even more that she would be able to ask him about it and learn from him. Breathing deeply, Kyrie focused back on her aunt as she closed the book and offered to take her along on her travels.

"I would love to come with you Aunt Val. I want to learn more about what you do and I very much want to learn more about the spirits you are looking for. It is still a little hard to picture how useful the dead could be as an army, but I do believe in your judgement about that." Really, who would she be to argue about such things. Even grown in appearance, she knew she had so much more to learn about the world.

"That is because you are thinking in mortal terms." Val replied, turning back to the books. "You think the dead are all wisps and spirits, intangible. There is more to the Underworld, so much more than most comprehend. It is a mirror world, there are beasts and inhabitants as there are on the realm of Gaia. It needs defending as this world does. Harmodius has the dragon kings ... the Underworld has me and my army."

Kyrie thought about that for a moment. Yes, she supposed she was thinking about the dead in mortal terms. She was such a physical being that it took a little extra effort for her to remember the realms beyond the physical, mortal world. Though perhaps that was changing now. Wasn't that what happened when you got older and experienced the world?

"Do you think that I will ever get to see the Underworld?" she asked. "Am I allowed?"

Val had to smile at that question, it was so child like. Really she supposed the Crow goddess was still a child, it would take time to adjust to the adult world that she was now part of.
"Of course, you are divine after all. You may find it draining, though it depends how much of it is within you." She was Ankou's child after all, that made her half Underworld at least.
"I will take you there, perhaps sooner rather than later. If you are able to guide the souls then you will need to see it, to know how to get there."
