Harlen walked up to the old building, an archaic ring of keys in hand. That would have to be updated, much like many parts of the building, which had been closed and boarded up for years after a small fire had burned through the second floor. Luckily, the damage was contained, and one new floor later, the building was legal to open again. Looking up, he couldn't help but smile. He had sunk most of his personal funds into this library, and had already cleaned and renovated what was necessary inside. He had the books, he had the computers, he had everything he needed. All he had to do now was set up and update a few of the building's more outdated features.
You know this is pointless right? You bankrupted yourself for some books and a fire hazard. And when this fails, you're going right back to the estate. And what do you think your father will do then?
Harlen sighed. Of course Mercurius had to have his two-cents about everything. He ignored him and unlocked the front door. With a creak and a good push, the heavy wooden doors swung open .The movers had already brought the boxes of books, and now all he had to do was unpack them, label them, enter them in the computer, and shelve them according to the dewey decimal system... He had his work cut out for him. He set up the main computer at the circulation desk, and created a small ice creature resembling a monkey. He began labeling and scanning the books, and he passed them off to the ice monkey to shelve them. It was going to be a long day.

Harlen Sinclair  It had taken a while, but the library was up and running. The building was still large and old, and there were rooms that Harlen had yet to inspect, but the books were shelved and the computers were working. Now all he needed were patrons... He then realized that he had failed to inform the academy's residents as to the reopening of the library. This is why you can't do anything. Too focused on the big picture.Harlen shrugged off the insult as he usual did and went to the computer, creating a simple flier informing students and faculty to the re-opening of the library. With fliers in hand, Harlen put on his coat (despite it being rather warm outside) and began his trek around the academy.

 Nina went inside the library and noticed that the librarian is missing. On the floor, she found a flier for this place. She picked it up and placed it in her bag. After that, she read a lot of books. Her favorite ones are those about fashion and Alchemy. "I wish someone else comes here. It's so boring..."Nina said with a sigh. After she's finished reading, Nina decided to use one of the computers to hack the academy's archives and get some data on her great-great-great uncles. When she saw their pictures, she blushed as red as a tomato and said "Thy're so cute! This will be interesting..." Nina said with a smirk. Before anyone arrived, Nina erased the computer's log, turned it off and hid herself among the many bookshelves inside. ((OOC: Hi! ))

Harlen Sinclair Harlen returned to the library exhausted. He had found no one to take his fliers, and as he went to hang some up, the wind had blown them from his hands. He had spent an hour chasing them, only for them to land in a creek. He was sore and tired and just wanted to relax. He pulled up the chair at the circulation desk and sat down lazily. He flipped on the space heaters below the desk to make sure he wouldn't get to cold. Within minutes he felt better in the comfort of the library. As he sat, idly twirling his unlit cigarette, he looked at the circulation computer. A small notice in the corner of the screen said "Computer Station 2 logged in under *unknown name* 3 minutes ago". Harlen sat up at this. He didn't hear anybody when he came in, and he hadn't logged in on that computer since set up yesterday. He repositioned the cigarette between his lips and set out to the desks that housed Computer 2. When he arrived, he saw that the chair and keyboard had obviously been moved during use. He looked around and called out, "Anybody there?" ((OOC: Yay! Another Person! biggrin ))

 When she heard a person's voice, Nina went back to the circulation desk and saw a man with a cigarette. She approached him and said "I'm new here. Are you the librarian?" After that, she gave the man a curtsy and said "Name's Nina Benbow. Pleased to meet you. Have you seen a pair of identical twins with different hair and eye colors around here?" Suddenly, a small bat came out of Nina's bag and it said "Lady Nina, I can't breathe...I apologize for coming out without your permission." ((OOC: Yay!))

Harlen Sinclair Harlen smiled widely as Nina introduced herself. His first visitor! He thought about removing his cigarette, as he didn't actually allow smoking in the building, but then she would see his breath fogging anyway. "H-hi! My names Harlen Sinclair, the owner and librarian here, but you can just call me Harlen. I haven't seen whoever you're looking for... In truth, I haven't seen anyone except you. Nobody really knows we're open..." He trailed off, knowing he was not making the best first impression. He had to prove this place was open and inclusive. "Um... You can use our computers to find whoever you're looking for if you want! I do ask that you get a library card at the front desk first so I can keep track of who's using the computers, but it's all free." He leaned down to look at the bat more closely, some of his fogged breath hitting the creature. "And who's this little guy?"

The small bat perched on Nina's shoulder, bowed to the man and said "My name's Noah. I'm Lady Nina's familiar." "Noah keeps me company and helps me out. Are you surprised that he can talk in his animal form?" Nina explained. She then remebered a strange package that was given to her when she first got here. "Noah, can you summon that package the nice person at the front desk gave us?" Nina said. Suddenly, Noah vomitted a rather small package on the floor. "Sorry about that. If I had summoned it while in my human form, it wouldn't involved regurgitation..." Noah said. After cleaning the floor and the package using simple magic, Nina opened it and found a library card inside. "Is this it, Harlen?" Nina asked while giving Harlen the library card.

Harlen Sinclair As the bat began regurgitating, Harlen gave an uneasy grimace. He had just bought new carpets! "It's not that he talks... Well, it is a little... Sorry, I'm still very new here and I'm just now getting used to having creatures about." As the bat cleaned up, he let out a sigh of relief for his precious carpets, but wondered what could be in the package. Harlen stammered a little bit as he looked at the card. It was indeed the card design he had implemented for the library, with Nina's data printed on it. The cigarette dropped from his mouth as he stood shocked that it existed without his knowing. After a moment, he recomposed himself. Then he realized what she had said. "What man at the front desk? Right now, I'm the only one who's working here, or even been here in the past few days."

"Noah, in his human form, bumped into someone earlier and gave him the package. That man claimed to be working here but he may have tricked us due to Noah's gullible nature. Who knows what else is in it." Nina said in frustation. Suddenly, the library card started bursring into flames! "I'll handle this, m'lady." Noah said as he casted a barrier spell on the card causing the flames to be snuffed out. "I'll just get a new one from you." Nina said. "I'm so sorry, m'lady! May I perch on your shoulder while Lady Nina applies for another card, Mr. Sinclair?" Noah said.

Harlen Sinclair Noah's spell had prevented any serious damage, but the flames had singed his hands (though he liked heat, he was more susceptible to burns than a normal person). He breathed slowly onto the burns and a gentle frost formed over them. They would be fine, probably gone before the day was over. Look at that, here for one day and your getting burned by library cards. This place'll be the death of you. Harlen shook his head, silencing the voice in his mind. This was not a time for Mercurius to mess with him. He then realized it appeared he was saying no to Noah's request. "Sorry, got a bit distracted. You're welcome to perch where ever you want, but I warn you, I have a cold shoulder." He couldn't help but laugh, it was a terrible pun, but he loved it. He led Nina to the circulation desk and gave her a real, non-flammable library card. He couldn't help but wonder who this strange man was.

"Yay!" Noah said with a cheerful voice as he flew from Nina's shoulder to Harlen's shoulder. He felt cold but he didn't mind. When Nina got her new library card, she grabbed a book from her bag and placed said card in it. After returning her book to her bag, Nina rolled up her sleeves and stepped back from the desk a little. Suddenly, Nina conjured flames from her left hand while she conjured frost from her right hand. After the flames and frost disappeared, Nina said "Sorry about that. I can mimic other peoples' abilities to some extent(can't mimic high-level abilities though), like your ability to contro ice." After that, Nina fixed her sleeves and gave Harlen the library card. She then used the computer to access the academy's records for the people she's looking for. "These are the people I'm looking for, my great-great-great uncles Alban Benbow and Nigel Benbow." Nina said as she showed Harlen their pictures. ((OOC: Their pics are in the post "nvidhvi's characters". ))

Harlen Sinclair He looked over Nina's shoulder, and looked at the two young men on the screen. Hearing her say Great-Great-Great Uncles, Harlen almost questioned if they were actually alive, but he figured that in this town, it was more normal than he thought. "Well, I can't say that I've seen them before, but I can keep my eyes open for them, and you're more than welcome to use this library to find them. It's probably no help, but I do have some of the Academy's older records locked in a room here. They were left behind after a fire, but I don't think they were damaged. I don't know when they joined the academy, but if it was ten years ago or more, it will be in there." Curiosity suddenly overtook him as well. "Why are you so determined to find these two? Some sort of supernatural family reunion?"

 Nina then cleared her throat and explained "153 years ago, the Benbow family's mansion suddenly disappeared from London. My father said that those two are the culprits. At first, I wanted to squeeze them for answers and kill them afterwards. Then I saw their pictures and they the cutest things ever! I still want those answers but at least I don't need to kill them." After taking a nap for a few minutes, Noah glanced at the computer screen and said "According to this, those two applied to this academy only a few months ago." "I guess the Academy's old records won't help us..." Nina said in disappointment. After a few minutes of silence, Noah came up with something. He flew from Harlen's shoulder and landed on the floor. He said words inaudible to human ears. Suddenly, a mist surrounded Noah. When the smoke cleared, a grey-haired, green-eyed young man appeared in the bat's place. He also wore clothes and a collar.
