Eanah leaned as close to Thren's neck as she could, one hand clasping a swirling Ysali orb and the other her scepter. Granted, that didn't leave her a lot of appendages with which to hold on to her temporary mount, but Thren seemed more than capable of keeping her from falling off all by himself.
Do you offer riding lessons when you're away from me? she asked, a smile in her mind that was not echoed on her face. On the outside, she was all steely concentration, determined to put down as many of these Orderite creations as she could, no matter how clumsy her movements.
What? No. I just... know where you'll be.
Hm. It made sense. Eanah decided to test him, slowly leaning too far to the left. Thren compensated immediately.
Stop that. Concentrate.
The Oblivionite sighed. He was right, of course. She should have been paying a great deal more attention to most things, but lately her concentration had been, to put it mildly, spotty. As much as she had learned to love the idea of this child she was carrying, as much as she wanted the best for him... or her... she couldn't help but wish he would just hurry up and arrive. There was nothing fun or interesting about feeling out of place in your own skin, and Eanah had been doing just that for far too long now.
Lurching to an unexpected stop, Thren's attention turned to the back of Leyn's cloak-covered head as the mage raised his hand in a warning. Eanah was forced to grab on this time, a quick apology all she received as their opponent came into view. This Mara was huge, much larger than the first they'd seen, and she knew they had to strike quickly if they wanted to get the upper hand.
For a moment, she pictured herself leaping off of Thren's back and running within range, blasting the creature until it crumbled into dust. Then she sighed, carefully dropping to the sand as Thren lowered his body to assist her. Her job was to bring up the rear and stay out of the way, just in case something went wrong. Eanah was certain nothing would go wrong.
She watched in silence as her lover and her khehora raced forward, spells flying and claws flashing, and though she managed to find several instances to use her own magic, for the most part, she had been correct. Nothing went wrong in the slightest.
