Quote: - The next night you have a nightmare. You can write a small solo in the Deus guild about remembering loss and fear OF Death. You remember in your DREAM SOLO the fear and loss of Death and what dying actually means. You remember death. Feel free to write it out however you wish, from your character's experiences with the concept of death.

She had been so tired. Her body ached in ways not even her farm life had prepared her for. Melusine reminded her that her ribs were still a work in progress, that it would take time and rest for the girl to recover fully. That Melusine could protect her body like the mermaid did, brought just as much comfort as knowing she was not alone in this fight. Other hunters, Shu and Milo..Mel. They had all suffered.
So she did what her weapon asked, what was recommended, forgoing a mission report to Caelius to crawl into the bed that was softer then a cloud to her broken body and instantly slept. But where Melusine protected the body, she could not protect the mind, or the dreams...Nightmares that plagued it.
It started with her sitting at a table, with a small bowl of chocolate covered ice cream. She looked around expecting someone to join her, but they didn't. She wasn't sure why that was important, when she could have ice cream instead. The spoon materialized to her left, and she dipped it into the small bowl, taking a bite of the treat happily, even though she questioned it as well. It was like knowing and not knowing what was going on....
And immediately gagged on it. It felt too heavy in her throat, too thick. And then it was water, so much water and she couldn't breathe. She dreamed of looking into a monsters eyes as the monster choked the life from her. She was on her knees, in a battlefield. She was in another dream, making a wish, she was falling into darkness, she felt a soft kiss on her head....So many things slammed into her.
It all zoned back to the table, to death. She knew death. She feared it, she feared it.
And she woke, sweating but cold. Scared, more scared then she could've ever imagined, even more then when she had clung to Milo on the field. She had died, she had died in dreams and she was awake. regardless of her body protesting, she got up, wrapping herself in her blanket even as her ribs screamed in pain and went to Milo's door. He had no..real door so she called out softly.
"M..Milo...are you awake?" If he wasn't, she would probably just curl up right there. It was better then trying to sleep by herself in her room. So much for bed being a place of solace.

Stepping back upon the soil of Deus meant the return of death, the ideas and the pain of it. It was something he didn't try to think about on a normal basis, obviously it was a negative concept and unpleasant and upset his status quo of optimism and smiles. Because he refused to be one of those people who frowned all the time. He barely let people see any other side of him besides the cheer as it was.
But in his dreams that night after in the comfort of his bed down in the basement, as Koume finished up her repair work - less nagging this time, the extent not heavy like his last trip to the Sahara - it crept up on him and darkened his dreams (yes, sometimes about Power Rangers and stuff. Sometimes about bunnies).
As he tossed and turned he saw Nevada, weak and frail as he had heard she had been in her final hours before her death. He watched as a faceless figure tore at her even in such a state. They plunged a knife into her chest and grinned - except now it wasn't his brown haired friend that had received the final blow but Chel. Her fight now over, her body fell to the ground like a lifeless ragdoll.
And he could do nothing.
The faceless figure shifted into the woman with the glowing yellow eyes and deep dark skin. She split into three and together they descended upon the poor body on the ground - now Noemi - scared and broken. Water seeped everywhere, our of her pores to protect her as they tried to stab at her with identical knifes.
And yet he could do nothing. Just watched from the empty table. It wasn't even like he was chained down to it. It was because he was weak and could do nothing to stop it. To help. His heroics for naught and the empty chair liked to remind him of his failures. He looked over to it, now occupied with a pissed off woman. He knew immediately, Koume, given a physical human body. She leaned over the table and began to crawl upon it, stepping over pieces of her broken weapon form and whispered into his ear 'bakaro.'
And then punched him in the face.
Milo's green eyes snapped open, a bit of sweat on his brow and his sheet wrapped tightly around his body. He lay there, his breathing heavy as he pressed a hand to his forehead and closed his eyes once more, tightly. There might have been an attempt to go back to sleep except for the small voice that drifted through his make shift door. Eyes opened once again and glanced to the source. "Am now."
It took him a bit of unraveling and pulling but eventually his bedsheet released him, allowing him to get up to head towards the door. Milo pulled it open and looked down, "you okay?"
For the record, yes he was shirtless.

A small sigh of relief escaped from outside his door. Followed by the usual-"I'm sorry if I woke you." But she wasn't really really sorry. She was relieved, a sudden common feeling she experienced when talking or being with Milo. She was expecting to maybe talk to him through his barred door but Milo appeared instead. She took a moment to search his face, as the usual smile wasn't there. She saw what mirrored her own probably. Fear and a tiredness. The bodies barely healed but the mind...that was a different matter. She adjusted the blanket around her shoulders, eyes dropping get to his chest and stared. Like before when they had first met, It was very distracting. She cleared her throat. "You...I..." she tried to stutter out. "N....Nightmare?" As if that explained everything. She closed her eyes. "I can't sleep. I'm too scared too." She shifted in her blanket robe again. "I don't know...what to do. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have bothered you...." there was an underlining but...she needed to bother you Milo.

Still a bit groggy, Milo just waved off her little apology with his hand and something mumbled that sounded almost like 'don't worry about it, was already up' but was more like gibberish. Especially since he yawned at the same time. Suddenly it hit him once again that, no he was just suddenly woken up. Not by her of course but by...
Yeah, what she just mentioned. The Sun remained silent for a beat as he raised a hand to ruffle through his short brown hair. "Nah, think nothin' of it." He told her in the least, because he could never find anyone that much of a bother, least of all her. Which next course of action to take with her, though, left him oddly stumped. A distraction would have been the best choice if he were more awake and not rattled by the same thing as he was.
So, he kind of went a typical sort of route, "didja wanna come in?" And had to wonder if she would and... if they were talk about it (he was at least awake enough to dread if it would get awkward).

Ah he had just really woken up! Noemi fidgeted with her blanket more because though he mumbled his consent, she was still berating herself for waking her friend, even if she wasn't actually the one to wake him. Just...keep him awake. fkdsljlfk.
"O..Okay, I will try." Sorry Milo she was apologizing to you mentally a thousand times, if he looked at her face, he could probably see it. A thousand apologies, staring at him.
He still didn't smile, which was odd for the Sun hunter. Even more when he did make a joke. A hand reached out to touch his arm gently, "It was bad dream for you too." Well of course, it was nightmares, but to shake Milo made Noemi worried. What did he see? For once, she thought of his own fear instead of her own, to make him so quiet.
She nodded her head at his question, because at this point, she didn't care about how appropriate it was to go into someones room. She was invited, and she needed to be there, away from her own cold room. She touched his arm once more before sliding past him, and looked around. She shouldn't have been surprised by the decorations. Okay she was surprised by the iron maiden closet thing, she actually stared at the large iron torture device for a moment or two....then she looked away.
And then she stared at his posters of the rangers, moving closer over to them. "These are your rangers? Your...um Sentai?" She tried lightly with conversation, to ease the fact that they'd be talking about nightmares...and she was in his room as well.

It hadn't occurred to him that he hadn't yet to smile, it wasn't a conscious thought at the moment (not like it was any other time of the day, it was just... how he do). But a small one did manage to manifest when the short Mist decided not to leave and failed to disappear when she lightly touched his arm. It was like a confirmation that she was still here and hadn't ended up like ... there ... and in his dream... It was an afterthought how weird it sort of felt to be glad, especially how unsure he was about the conversation that could happen and how much he would want to drastically change it.
Still, to her statement about bad dreams, Milo gave her a simple, "yeah," as he pushed back a little to give her some room and then moved to close the door; but left it ajar just in case she needed to make an exit. Didn't want to make her feel trapped or something.
With the nature of her visit, he was a little surprised she didn't just dive into what had been bothering her, so used to girls kind of doing that, but instead went to maybe someone else girls asked him when they saw what he decorated with. Because they never actually knew the stuff. (Except one, not including his sister). Milo looked up to a few of them she was referring to, "aa, yeah, a few of them." He stepped closer to her and pointed to one in particular, "that's for a cross over movie they did with two recent series. They do that each year." Dinosaur rangers and three slightly animal based suited figures adorned that one. And then pointed to another, "That's actually not Sentai but something similar called Kamen Rider." It was colorful, looked like fruit samurai.
"Not a lot of variety, got them from magazines that talk about the current stuff, but I'll take what I can get, ya know?" He went onto explain, finally breaking out into one of his more natural smiles now that he was more awake and in his element.

She kept looking at the sentai ranger magazines, wondering if she should, on her next leave, find more of them to gift to Milo. He enjoyed them much and if his room only had so little and he wanted more, she would be willing to treat him.
She reached up to the one he pointed at, touching them as if they would memorize in her head like that before dropping on her toes. He was closer, and she felt that. But it didn't bother her. She looked up at him, over her shoulder. She debated over the next course of action carefully and decided that the best way to convey was in a way that Milo could also understand.
She turned quickly, wrapping her arms around his waist and hiding her face in his chest.
"I died." She squeezed, "I died, I died Milo." She held on, "And then you were a genie, who could grants wishes, and a dark overlord. And...And I killed you." She was making sure he was there by hugging him, holding on to him. "I'm sorry."

It was rather sudden, totally unexpected (especially from Noemi of all people) that even his Hunter reflexes couldn't help him from rocking backwards from her lunge at him. Milo was honestly surprised, blinked for a moment even, until he just looked down at the shorter girl with dread from what he told her.
It was what he had feared, what he had been suddenly plagued with himself and what he had even seen himself. His arms wrapped around her in an instant and held her close as he pressed his face into her hair - also a familiar feeling, he had had a dream of this himself. He wanted to mention it, how much nicer it was than half those other ones (he remembered something about a dark overlord, but it hadn't been that miserable). Still, better subjects but still he found himself telling her, "Kala mai...." His tone flat and serious, "I should be sorry, Noemi-chan, I didn't do my job." Because he hadn't protected her when he said he would and had done so pathetically against those who had attacked her.

"No...No" She shook her head, using Milo as a anchor. She didn't want to shake, like she had times past at home when things scared her. When she would sit in her bed with the covers over her head and wait for Mami or Papi to check up on her at night. They did that every so and again when they could hear her muffled sobs at night. They'd pet her hair from over the covers, hum quietly, stop the shaking. She didn't want to shake in this new world, where Mami wouldn't hum to her, or Papi wouldn't laugh and tell her stories when she wouldn't come from under her covers. She didn't want to shake when she knew Milo was scared and hurt too. That she wasn't the only one on the island.
It was hard to remember the nice dreams, the feeling of warmth and smiles and the pure...Milo of it. Milo was cheerful, something Noemi hadn't realized was very special on this island. When she was scared, it was easier not to be if she saw Milo smiling and acting natural.
She didn't understand why it grounded her so, but it did. She wanted to repay the favor a thousand times but she was too scared, too weak....too Noemi to do so. She wondered if he minded her selfishness.
"No!" She pulled back and looked up at him, because no Milo. You did much better then her, you were much better then here. "You did your job." She made a angry face, "I wasn't strong enough!" She gnawed at her lip, "I was scared, terrified. On the battlefield, I was terrified and I couldn't do much. So I was an easy target." She wasn't sure why she let go of Milo beyond the fact that she wasn't sure she deserved to have him comfort her. After everything, to think he had done nothing. "I almost died..." She said carefully, "Because I am weak, because I couldn't help myself when you were doing everything to help me." She looked down at her feet, "Eres mi héroe y no hice nada."

He didn't know what to say at first. Thinking mostly how he didn't like that she pulled away and that he didn't like what she was saying. And hated for the split second he thought she was right - because the bad guys always did go after those they thought weak and helpless. Even though he so didn't see here as such, but for that split second. Even as he still blamed himself.
Milo's hand drifted towards her and gave it a light squeeze and a small tug to draw her back closer. "Told you it was alright to be scared, ya?" He finally said with a ghost of a smile, "I mean I was when you were..." and stopped himself, because he really didn't want to have that mental image flash in his mind again of her on the ground. Or even the one in his dream where she was being stabbed.
He liked the better memories, even those silly dreams. It was just easier to deal with, more than this. The hard heavy complicated stuff. Even before coming to the island, he brushed things off with a laugh even in tough times. Seemed like one of those, but harder. And he didn't like it.
"You got up the tower, though, Noemi." Milo went with instead after another thought, trying to steer away from those bad thoughts. He reached over and cupped her chin in his hands and gently lifted her head to look her square in the eye, "You braved the desert, we took down monsters together, and you made it up on your own. It sucked what happened up there," and what they remembered, "but we're still here, ya?"

His hand took hers, and she held it, squeezing it gently. For her, it was okay. For her, it was comforting. Noemi tried a weak wan smile at him, even as he admitted that he was scared. He had been scared?
"Y...you were so calm." She looked away, "I...I'm sorry." She started to gnaw at her lip again, "I'm sorry that I scared you..." In whichever way she did. If she fell in battle, when she stabbed him in the dream, when she was ancient.
She liked the better memories too, some of them had been funny. Seeing him as a genie, seeing him as a princess in a tower that she had to save. Silly things that just made her want to laugh. But it was hard to laugh when there was the more overwhelming death. The more serious one of herself...killing Milo for power. There was so many things that were negative, she was trying to hold on to the light.
"I did." Her head tilted up as he let go of her hands and grabbed her chin. It was hard to actually stare right into his face, because wow uh...eye contact. But she did so, searching it for his thoughts, his feelings. "Not all of it sucked." She realized that he wanted the positive, the good, and she did too. She smiled shyly at him. "I saved you from a tower, cause I was a knight and you were my princess." She closed her eyes, smiling. She hated that she felt the tears brimming just a little, one sliding out of her closed eyes. "I was worried I would change. That this would break me." That it would break him...but Milo never broke. "You make me feel better, why do you do that?" She mumbled.

It was good to see that smile appearing back on her face, even it was small or shy or weak. It was so much better to see than that frown or those pursed lips of worry. He didn't mind that she would or, yeah, if she got scared but it was so much better to see her in a better, happier mood. Brought him at ease and Milo almost felt like pulling her fully into his arms again.
He stuck with conversation for now, his own smile easing back naturally. "Dun be sorry, it was bound to happen sometime ya?" Even if he hated to admit that he had been scared, but at least it was over something - someone - that mattered. Not like over like mission reports or something that Caelius would yell at them for.
When the tear spilled out, Milo gently brushed his thumb over her cheek to wipe it away, "aa, so I was the princess, ya? I had a dream where like we were different and had horns and stuff but like, you were showing me around and tellin' me all the cool stuff." And another about him being an Overlord, but nevermind about that one. It had bee cool even though Noemi had been a prisoner. But he had saved her. Nut anyways.
"You're nakama, Noemi-chan." He told her, still finding himself with his hand on her cheek. "Always gotta make sure my friends are smilin,' even if you break a little. I'll help make you feel better again." Like being scared, it was alright to break a little. Just had to get back up. (Oh the Sentai references he could pull up).

She sighed a little as he brushed away the tear, hating for the moment that she couldn't even hold it in, but relieved to know that Milo didn't judge her for it. He was being gentle, and it made her heart pound like crazy. She wasn't sure why, because Milo was being Milo. There was no need for her to be nervous, to be so anxious when he was trying to comfort her.
"You were a princess." She repeated, opening her eyes up, "But you weren't really in danger, It was really silly too, um...you..you didn't wear a dress...just so you know. I guess you were like more um....a prince...in a tower." She gave a watery chuckle. She remembered seeing a glimpse of the horned beings, and warmth. so much warmth. "I was a guide yes? that seems silly too." She chuckled again. She could feel the stupid burning at the back of her eyes. "When...when you were a genie, You came out of one of the power...power ranger things...the one they morph with?...I don't...I don't know how I knew but that's what it was..."
"S..Sorry." Another tear slipped, and she brought her hands up to press at her eyes. "S..Sorry, I'm sorry, I don't know why...You make me feel better but...but...but my eyes keep..." She started to move her face away, and give him a smile instead. "I..I was worried that it would cause hate? I was worried about Shu, and about you and about Stormy. I've never been so wo...worried." Ah these stupid tears, instead of trying to hide them behind her hands, she pulled her shirt up. "A...and these stupid n...nightmares keep coming back, it...it's all I can think about. I...I want to ma..make you feel better too but-" There was a small break in her voice, "I..I'm sorry. I...I should go...go back.."

It was the dead of night, others were bound to be sleeping - had to wonder if others were having bad dreams as well - but Milo couldn't help but let out a hearty laugh at her story. A prince, huh? And a genie coming out of a morpher? These were the things he wanted to hear about.
But it all fell so short when she dissolved right in front of him. "Nah, nah, Noem-chan. It's okay." She might of have pulled away but he didn't let her go for too long, he followed after her even as she pulled up her shirt to catch her tears. It was probably not the best opportunity he could have taken, but it seemed the right moment to pull her back into a hug. "Been a long time too, hated seeing you like that. And Chel and all of you." And Jack and Finn had been such wonderful people for ditching him. Those types of nightmares.
"Wanna stay here for the night?" He found himself asking her as he pressed his face to her hair again, "just in case they come back?"
