He wasn't sure how long he had managed to recharge. He remembered not -wanting- to recharge, and Bass telling him to...and next thing he knew he was waking back up, Bass still recharging against him. s**t, he wasn't supposed to be resting! He had patrols to do, and a list of about a million other tasks that needed to be taken care of. Recharging just wasn't an option...no matter how nice it was here in Bass' bed.

Proto had reluctantly freed himself from the other's grasp, managing to slip out of bed without waking him up. He really hated sneaking out of here, especially with Bass in his current condition, but unfortunately it was necessary.

Soon hopefully everything would be fine again...

He had spent the day patrolling, once again not managing to catch up to Flashover. The a*****e. The longer this went on, the more irritated Proto got. If he wasn't so damn tired he'd be capable of throwing a temper tantrum to rival those of Bass' right now.

Instead, the exhausted bot dragged himself to his father's neighborhood and headed towards his door. Just a quick visit...see if he had any more e-pops he could maybe take back to Bass, and then head back to the Tower to check on things there. Then....well who knew what then, his work was never done.

Outside Light's door, a familiar whistle sounded. Hopefully his dad was still awake.

Light had eagerly awaited a phone call or visit from any of his children today, considering the holiday. He told himself not to be disappointed if he heard nothing from them. They were out on their own now and had little time to spend with their "father". Of all his kids, the one he had least expected to see stood at his doorstep. An incredulous look on his face, Light opened the door wide. "Proto, my boy! Y-you came to see me??" Scanning his son's body revealed no major injury, so he must have come just to visit. With a large grin, he pulled Proto into a great bear hug, pleased beyond words that his eldest boy had dropped by to see him.

He had told himself not to get too hopeful...surely Light was out, or possibly even asleep. No way he'd be at home, it wasn't like he had called ahead or anything this time. So when the door flew open he was a bit surprised. Not nearly as surprised as he was when he suddenly found himself pulled into a bear hug.

"GMKAVA FATHER"
The General lost his cool composure for a minute, flailing his arms to either side as he found himself squished against the older Audio.

"...Hello to you too?"
He sounded exhausted, soon stopping his struggles to just lean on Light a bit.

Light laughed, his eyes crinkling as he gave Proto a genuine smile and released him. "Lets go inside, my boy! He steered the bot into his home. Everything alright? You seem tired. Wily hasn't been feeding you enough, has he?"

Before Proto could blink he found himself steered inside. Well...okay, this was fine. He could visit for a few minutes, get what he needed, and leave right? Unfortunately he had no idea what holiday it was, it just so happened his visit coincided with the day.

Damnit.

"I've just been...very busy. The rebels hurt a bot that.....I care for. At least I think that's what it is."

Emotions were a damn confusing thing.
"I've been out trying to find those who did it. It hasn't left me with much time to rest...but every minute I am not looking more and more bots are being offlined."

Light frowned. "I'm sorry to hear that, my boy. Have a seat and I'll make us something to eat." In truth, the doctor had prepared a little something for just this occasion, hoping someone would drop by. As he pulled the pre-made meal from the fridge and began to warm it, he turned back to the conversation. "I have tried convincing the rebels that audio and bots could live and work together but it is difficult. Wily is their oppressor and they see the bots working for him as helping keep them oppressed."

"I....can't stay long..."
Mostly, he was afraid if he sat still too long he'd fall back into recharge. No, he had things to do, damnit!

"I have a problem seeing this portion of the rebellion as anything but terrorists. They are entitled to their opinion, and at one time I -fought- for them...but this particular branch felt the need to coat a friend of mine in gel and light him on fire."

Proto's voice had cracked as he gave that statement. He turned his gaze away so he could stare at the floor.

"How is that any better than supposedly being oppressed?"

"Just a quick bite, my boy." Light nodded, filling a pair of plates. As he walked back to Proto, he took a seat on the couch and gestured for his son to sit next to him before handing over the plate.

Light's frown deepened into a look of downright anger as Proto described what had happened to his friend. No matter what the bot had done, there was no reason to torture him. "I will find out who was responsible for this," the doctor declared hotly. Although Light was not wholly a part of the rebellion, he often heard from and lent a hand in some of their more humanitarian operations. He believed he had enough of a voice among them to be heard if he spoke out about the wrongness of this deed.

Proto took a seat on the couch, and kind of gave the plate of food a confused look. His dad did remember he was a bot right? This didn't look like E-tanks. Or E-pops. ....

"I'll save you the trouble, it was Flashover. The same one who hit me with the rocket and damaged my memory banks."

He was frowning heavily at this point.

"I'm -going- to find him."
And that was that. Light didn't need to know just what his son was going to do once he caught up to the rebel.

Flashover; He might have heard the name before, but he didn't personally know the audio. He would soon. Today was not the day, however. Today was a day to celebrate the time he got to spend with his boy, however limited. "I'll take care of it, son." He smiled a bit, noticing Proto's confusion. "It's safe to eat, my boy. I call it E-loaf. Not very inventive, but I'm afraid I don't have much skill for naming these things," the doctor chuckled.

Sorry Light, this was something Proto was going to take care of. But, he would just go quiet about that situation. Honestly, talking about Bass' condition and the one who had attacked him would simply anger Proto. Or maybe even make him cry. He really didn't want to cry right now.

Proto still didn't seem to think the food was really -edible- but..he tried it anyway. Honestly...it was quite good! And he was pretty hungry....

Approximately 30 seconds later the food was scarfed down.

Light grinned at the voracity with which Proto wolfed down his meal. "Seconds, son?" Light asked, still working on his own plate of non-bot food. Although Blues had fallen silent, the elder audio was simply enjoying being in his boy's presence after so long apart.

"...No, I'm fine. Thank you."
He could eat more. But then he'd definitely feel sluggish and fall asleep. No, this would be plenty to keep him going and back to the Tower...and whatever his next project was.

For now he was content to just sit still for a bit and chat with his father. It...was nice. The older Audio wasn't so bad, though he still had his reservations. This -was- the one who built him to fight a war he didn't fully understand. A lot of pain had come from that decision, and over the years Blues had become a rather closed off individual.

Every so often someone broke through the walls and got to the hurt bot underneath. And one such individual was currently relying on him to cheer him up a bit.

"Dad...that friend of mine, who is pretty injured..."
Yeah, and limbless really.
"He really enjoyed those E-pops you created. ...You don't happen to have any more, do you?"
Proto felt awful, showing up out of the blue just to ask his Father for a favor. His head hung a bit at the request.

Light's smile widened at his son's request. This little chat with his son had lightened his guilty conscience somewhat and eased some of the ache in his heart. "Of course, my boy." The doctor stood and hurried off to the lab. After their last meeting, Light had made a small device to create the pops and, as such, was able to produce them in much larger quantities. He packed up a large box for Blues along with a to go box of the E-loaf with enough for he and his friend to share. Returning to the couch, Light handed over the bag full of goodies. "There you are, son. Make sure you eat some yourself, now."

What a relief. His father wasn't annoyed by the request. In fact, he almost seemed prepared for it! Proto stood to take the bag. And...a moment after that he actually moved to hug the other Audio. It was quick, and the unease was apparent in Proto's stance. But still, it was something. At least he was making the effort.

"Thank you...he'll appreciate it, and I do as well. And yes, dad, I'll make sure to eat some too."
-After- he made sure Bass was doing alright and got him set up with some E-pops.

For now though, he really needed to get going. Sad as it was, he couldn't stay here with his father forever. Proto made sure everything was packed away safely in the bag, before moving towards the door.
