Casseth swiped his arm over his forehead, sighing as he stepped back out into the hot Eowyn sun. The day had been a long and tiring one. He’d had another match at the Pit and while he had won, he had not come out unscathed. His body ached and needed rest. The scrapes and bruises that littered his body were deemed to be non-life threatening and so the healers had turned him out without so much as lifting a finger. Cas didn’t mind, though. He was eager to get home and rest. Less time spent under the healers of the Pit the better off Casseth felt. After that first incident, he didn’t fully trust those that worked there.
He shrugged his pack on as headed out into the desert to make the short trek back to town. He had the house to himself at the moment, his father having traveled back to Soudul to visit the oblivionite leader one last time. Kilian had left reluctantly, not wanting to go back to that place but had no other choice if he wanted to advance to the next level. So Casseth now had their huge house to himself. He rolled his shoulders, trying to ease the ache of muscles there.
Cas paused as he heard a strange buzzing sound. Tilting his head, he frowned as he strained to listen. He turned, searching for the source of the noise but saw nothing. Was it coming from town? His gaze flit back in the direction of Taliuma but Cas just shook his head. It was too far away from him to be hearing any kind of noise from there. He heard it again and spun. This time, however, he wasn’t disappointed. His gaze fell onto that of a strange, rock like creature that was floating towards him. Covered in a type of stone armor, it floated towards him on green magic.
He stumbled back as it began to speak. Casseth frowned, pulling at his magic, tearing a bolder up from the ground just as it moved closer. “What are you?” He muttered as he sent the bolder flying towards the creature. He cursed as it swung it’s weapon, breaking the rock in half as easily as Cas had formed it.
The creature froze as it began to speak again. “Must bring back.”
“The hell you will.” Casseth sent another bolder flying quickly towards the monster as he took off running. As he glanced back, he stumbled, surprised that the creature was still following him. Either he was being extremely slow or the beast was just quicker than he had anticipated. Either way Casseth sent more rocks flying towards the creature as he bounded off for town. Soon he arrived, exhausted and out of breath and as he moved into the town’s gates he turned to face out into the desert. He frowned as he watched the monster retreat. As if it wasn’t coming near town or other magescians. Just what was that thing and what had it wanted with him?
