Ade: *snorts with laughter* Funny humans are funny, Avant: *rolls his eyes and settles back to watch too, swishing his tail back and forth as he kept an eye on everyone*Ade: *watches not wanting to say to much more, * Nayeli: -grabs the human by the hair and starts dragging her towards the sea- Nalani: What are you doing?! She's not dead! -bolts after them- -groans louder and starts flailing her arms towards the mare's head- Nayeli: -dodges each swing and speaks through her teeth- Are you kidding? Just look at her! She's trying to eat my face! Nalani: No she's not! You're hurting her! -grabs hold of her mistress's pants and starts pulling in the other direction-Ade: "gatono advneha anega?" she inquired to the nearest pony, Avant: *looks over at Ade* You do realize you are speaking in tongues, do you not?Ade: *looks at Avant in shock* "i'm..... " she searches for the word "sorry. I must have ... been speaking in my native tongue."... she collected her thoughts once more before continuing "Why, do they... , why are they going... with the man thing?" Avant: *snorts in amusement before looking out over the scene the other horses were making* Killing it? I don't know. Such things are normally beneath my notice. Unless they really are killing it, then that just be fun. *turns slightly to face her* What tongue was it you were speaking in? Ade: "Cherokee, I..... am ..." she trailed off " Why kill? did they.... step on basket?" Avant: *hums thoughtfully a the choice of language* Interesting. *shrugs his shoulders, flexing his wings like he was bored* Why not kill? I don't know what the two-legger did, or did not do, but as they did not throw it into the ocean, it couldn't have been anything too bad.Ade: "that .... does not ... seem...duyu....i mean, right"... she looked at the soq as he flexed his wings "who... are... you?"Avant: *laughs softly, a deep rumble of sound* Your "right" and my "right" would appear to differ. I am Avant Resari. And your name?Ade: "Adeyoha, most call me... Ade" (pronounced ahday) she contemplated him "your... wings are strange, much like another I know, but you do not have shells ... no not shells, scales, as she does... she is quite mean" Avant: Adeyoha it shall be then. *hums thoughtful and stretches out one wing, making a show of examining it* No, I have no scales, or need of them. I am a Kalona. And, as a species, we can all be quite... mean.Ade: thought to herself for a minute "Kah-lon-a, " her eyes got wide and she stepped back in fear "Shadow Walker!" Avant: *laughs softly again, folding his wing back down* There, you got it. I was beginning to wonder about you. *raises a condescending eyebrow* While being generally afraid of the Shadow Walkers is probably a good idea, I have done thing to warrant your fear. You should be nicer or perhaps I shall.Ade: eyes still wide "My father, He told me stories of the cursed ones"... she kept her eyes on him at all times "I should not trust you, you will eat me!" Avant: *snorts and steps closer* I wouldn't say that I was cursed. My mother was you see, a cursed skinwalker. So her, yes, me, no. You should probably get that straight. *grins at her* I have to desire to eat your flesh Ade. If I did, I wouldn't have bothered speaking to you. I would have just... well. I'm sure you can imagine.Ade: "it doesn't matter... the death can come any time any where.... while i do not FEAR death.... i do not wish to hasten it"... she paused "how can i trust you, are curses not passed on?" Avant: *rolls his eyes at the sky* You cannot trust me. You can, however, trust that I will act in whatever way serves me best. And killing you, at least at the moment, doesn't serve me at all. *pauses a moment before shaking his head, looking out over the grasslands* She was cursed after my birth so, no.

Adeyoha looks at Avant, being sure to still keep her distance... "are you saying my father is... gayhgogi.... he would not.... lie... to me!" she became angry "YOU lie, it is your way shadow man!"
she stomped her hoof in protest... she did not like his insinuations. Her father was an honest man, and a good warrior. He was no chief, but he was a man of his word, In the nations if a man did not have his honor he was nothing!
"How dare you, you do not know my people... we do not lie, our word is all we have!" her face flushed in anger

Avant Resari raised an eyebrow at her, taking another smooth step closer. He wasn't afraid of her, nor did he need her afraid of him. It was just more amusing that way. "I don't believe I said anything of the sort, but given as I don't know what that word means, it is entirely possible that I did." He rolled his shoulder in a shrug. "Yes, I lie. Often and well. But I am not lying about being cursed. I am not, unless you think being a Shadow Walker is my curse." Avant circled around her, considering her from different angles. She was angry with him now, but it was a pointless anger. Pointless and based on such... petty things. "I dare a great deal, Adeyoha, and will dare a great more. I am Kalona, after all. But I do not doubt your word." He bowed his head slightly. "Perhaps we have differing definitions of what being 'cursed' is, and in that lies our disagreement."

Ade stood her ground this time, "It means.... one who tells lies... my father was not that way. In my Tribe, a man is NOTHING " she spat the last word out angrily and forcefully "with out his word!"
"We were taught that Kalona, have fallen from the circle. They do not follow the path, they do not die to join the great fathers... they roam from body to body... taking and devouring what they will, with no care or thanks to the ancestors. They are cruel beasts, that eat our young, abuse and take what they want from us women, and leave us husbandless and fatherless"
She was not sure why she was still here, talking to this beast. Any second she might swallow her up, but something in her said to stay... because this Kalona was different... there was something she had to learn, or do... with him...

Avant bared his teeth slightly at the defiance before reminding himself that he had no need of her fear at the moment. There was always later if she became too boring for him to abide.
"So, you are saying that I am nothing, because I lie?" He laughed softly, shaking his head so that his braids fell in place around him. "You should know that when I give my word, you can trust it. I just don't see the need to pander to the fear of others, and the oppressive weight of the truth that someone else decides. The truth is not always as it appears."
He shrugged. "That is a fairly accurate description. Well, the cruel part, at any rate. We are. But we do die, and as far as I know, we cannot roam from body to body. Though..." Avant paused, considering. "That would be very interesting if I could."
Avant shook his head. "I think you are confused on some matters. Perhaps we have fallen from your circle, and do not follow your path, but we aren't of you. At least, I'm not. You could say the same of almost every horse that doesn't believe in your superstitions. It doesn't mean that we are all, necessarily evil." He cracked a smile. "Well, I am, but that doesn't mean everyone is."
He stepped smoothly towards her, raising his head so he could look down at her. "You are remarkably naive, did you know that?" He brushed her wing with one of his, just to see what she’d do.

She stepped back at the brush of his wing *NO FEAR* She had to remind herself...
"Do not stand over me like I am one of your herd"... she raised her head in defiance and looked him in the eyes... " I am also not yours to touch..."
she frowned "you say you give your word, but yet..... you say you lie, so which is the truth?"

Avant laughed when she stepped back, laughed at the little mare who was trying to be so brave. It was almost endearing, if he had use for such an emotion. He didn't, so he just thought it was funny. "You wouldn't survive among my herd, trust me on that, if naught else. My sisters would enjoy you, I think. They always like the defiant ones..." He trailed off, wondering where they had wandered off to. "You are mine to touch if I choose to do so. But I don't wish anymore than I already have done. I just wanted to see how you'd react, Adeyoha. Your reaction was... typical" Avant considered her for a second, and sighed, rolling his eyes before explaining. "I lie, true, but if I give my word, in a specific manner, then you can trust that I will hold that promise or truth until my death. There is much more about Kalona's that you do not know. Honor is among that number. At least, for me. But then, a full-blooded Kalona would probably just have killed you by now." He shrugged. "I'd rather find you interesting, something to add to my collection, than to have to kill you. Don't bore me now, Adeyoha."

She stepped back hurt for a moment... he didn't WANT to touch her... but quickly she regained face...
She began to look around... to wonder if she should try to ... escape this Shadow walkers clutches before it was to late... She shook her head "If I wanted to be collected, I would have .... paired up with the man my father chose, instead of leaving my tribe"... she looked him in the face again... he truely wasn't so bad to look at... but her father told her they like to toy with their food, to twist and replace hope with desperation, and turn a Proud Pony into a broken resigned mess....
"You say 'IF I give my word, in a specific manner' .... Give it .... Say you will not Kill me, or leave me with a broken spirit... My spirit, pride, is what I have left... what my fathers have given me in birth..."

Avant felt a moments pride for a looks of hurt on the mare's face. It was comical, But his kept his expression as smooth and condescending as it had been before. He watched as she looked around, probably seeking some sort of escape. The Kalona wasn't sure if he would let her leave or not. Didn't know if she was worth the bother of keeping her hear, or even killing her. She seemed a bit lost, so alone. He rumbled out a laugh and shook his head, mane spilling into his eyes. "You're idea of 'collected' is vastly different than mine, little mare." He started to circle her, amusement in every step. "Your father would have you mate some stallion, have as many baskets as you can, and then turn around and do the same to your children." He shook his head. "If I decided to 'collect' you, then you would be mine." He growled the word, You already left your tribe, so at least I wouldn't have to deal with them coming to 'save' you." He laughed at her. "If I collected you... well. I don't think I should explain. I don't want to scare you." He stopped at the demand, eyes opening wide in surprise. It wasn't often that someone demanded something of him. Less often that they demanded something like... that of him. "I give you my word that I will not kill you this meeting, or until after the sun sets on the day you depart from my side. But I cannot promise that I will not break your spirit, little mare. It might be all you are good for."

she nickered in a chuckle, Glad that she could surprise this fearsome creature
"No Avant, You misunderstand me... I left my tribe, that does not mean I'm alone. While no physical beings may be here to "rescue" me, My ancestors will guide and protect me. I do not think you can break me as easily as you think".... she paused a moment..... "and before you .... speak it.... NO, I am not willing to find out"...
She Turned her side to him, swishing her tail just enough for the very tip to brush up his leg and started to walk... "Since, for now it seems... I am ... safe from you... shall we walk?"

"I have no fear of ghosts, little tribeling. Or ancestors. I have dealt with the like before. My father was once pledged to a ghost, a lifetime ago." Avant continued amicably. "And if you stay near me, tribeling, then you will find out how far I can push you until you break, or leave, I suppose. Those are the only two choices." He chuckled softly. "You shouldn't be willing, but by standing there, you show yourself to be. Actions speak louder than words." Avant growled low in his chest, side stepping so she wouldn't try to touch him again. "I already believe that I told you that I have no desire to touch you anymore. Have a care, little mare. I promised I would not kill you. I said nothing about harming you." Avant slashed his tail through the air, whip-like and threatening. "Do you no longer believe in your people's legends? That you would want to walk with a Shadow Walker?" He nodded his head toward the wood. "If you wish to walk, then perhaps in there. Where there is something to hunt, perhaps." He paused a moment. "You can eat the grass, I suppose." His tone said just what he thought about that, lip curling up in disgust.

" I do eat grass, but I understand the need for death... it has it's... place." she said distainfully as she continued to walk ... "it is not right that you should only touch me when you please... but the moment a hair falls accidentally on your flesh, you become angry..." She smirked....
"this tells on you, you like to have control... and when you cannot maintain control of another... you lash out... and LOOSE control completely"...
she turned to face him "Pain hurts, i would know... I've gone through much though i do not have physical scars to show it. Physical pain is nothing, scars of the flesh, i have your word you will not kill me... and even if you did, I would just join those who walk before me... I am in control of myself... "
She looked him over... "I see the scars on your flesh... you have experianced pain, though... your breed enjoys it i'm told... for a shadow walker, you twist pain into love... no I do not trust your kind... but for the time being... i trust YOU... but understand.. trust is not control... you will never control me"

He laughed at her, finding it funny they both had the same thoughts on each others eating habits. He also found it funny that she thought he's lost any control. Expressing his displeasure at being touched was not a loss of control. She'd bee bleeding if he'd actually lost control. Avant did like being in control, surely, but he also understood that there were many things beyond his reach. He didn't seek to control everything. But he wasn't about to correct her wrong assumption, simply humming as a neutral answer. "You are in control of yourself." He echoed, finding no fault with the statement, though as someone who was accusing him of being a control freak, she was showing more signs of it than he was. "I did give my word not to kill you yet." He agreed amicably. And then he sighed, stepping into the cool shade of the trees, vines catching around his wings for a moment. He snapped himself free and scented the air, hoping to find lunch. "You should be careful how much you judge me by my breed. I am only half a Kalona." He turned to look at her for a moment, then ahead. "You should remember that." Avant listened to her ramble about control again. There was something there, obviously. Too soon to point it out, too soon for it to be any use, but perhaps it was a key to breaking the spirited tribeling. "I never said that I wanted to control you, Adeyoha."

"In our land, men collect women to control them. " she stopped and looked at him "Clean our homes, cook our food... bear our young, it doesn't matter if you like us, you belong to us and will do as we say. Don't try to think, it's not your place, don't tell me your opinion, it's actually better if you don't have an opinion at all, just shut up, and clean our homes, raise our sons, and train our daughters to be good mates" ...
She trailed off on her rant, looked down in embarrassment when she realized just all that she has said ... "Women are, kind of status in our tribe. The more women and children a Stallion has, means he must be strong, wealthy, to have all these mates to protect."
She swished her tail in anger, "This is NOT the life I want, Avant. I have a mind... I want to USE it" ...

"I believe in most lands, men collect women to control them." Avant agreed. "I don't think they like the idea that they may be collected themselves." He laughed softly, amused by the fact that she was agree about someone controlling her and she had come across him, who does the same thing with anyone who crossed his path.
'If you have a mind, and want to use it, then I suggest doing so." He shrugged at her. "That's if you can stay away from your people who want to control you, other's like myself who would control you long enough to break you, and provided you have something to offer. You're mind may just ensure you end up alone."
He looked down at her before stepping ahead slightly, failing to find anything in the immediate area that he could hunt. "You may be overcompensating, you know. You have such a strong mind that you force others to be subservient. It's a common roll reversal. But there are not many males, or females, that I have found that enjoy the roll you would put them in." Avant ducked under a tangle of thorned vines. "You may end up just as alone as I am, little mare."
