The text is messy and hard to read. It also looks as though something has been spilled on the lower right-hand corner of the thick parchment. Sometimes the spelling is a little off, but the point is made. The paper also smells faintly of coffee, and there's a sticky thumbprint-sized smudge on the edge of the letter near the center.

I hope that evereything is going well. Are they treating you well there? Is it scary? When do you get to come visit again? I am very sorry for embarasing you when we went to the bar. It would have been nice to see you again before you left, just so that I could make it up to you, hah! When you are back in the area I will show you that bakry I mentened. I think you will like the little tarts, they are very good.

Have you seen Preachir or Axel yet? I will write to them too. If you need sompthing please let me know and I will see if I can have it sent.

I am doing very good. I am just always thinking about how luckey I am to have a friends like you, and also Preachir and Axel!!! I know we are all new friends but it is very good to have somewon you can count on when you need it. I am onley a little sad when I think that I can't see you three since you are on very strick scedules, but that is okay. It is a busy time these days, and lots of many holes to dig!!

I would be realy happy if you write back! I like getting letters, but most of the time I am not getting happy letters from happy friends mostly it is sad letters saying thank you for the grave you did a good job. I mean it is nice to get even sad letters but happy letters well they are much better. Don't you agree.

If you get times off you and the others shuld come see my home!! And my garden it grows very good fruit and vegetables but only berries for fruits, my little tree has no started to grown its apples yet. Someday!!! Do you like potatos? I love potatos. I also grow carots and some onions. Do you like strawberys? I like strawberys best, when you are hear you will have to eat some.

The parchment is folded tightly, and it's also kind of crumpled, almost as though someone began to write and decided against it before retrieving the letter and starting again. It's also a little gritty, covered with fine particles of dirt. The spelling is sometimes wrong (as usual) and the handwriting is often barely legible.

Hello Peaches Preachir!!

I am writing you a letter to say HELLO!! I know you have not been gone very long, but that is okay. I think it is always good to get a letter from a happy friend! Are there any beautiful women there? With nice racks for you to rest your head on?? I bet their is.

I have very important question to ask. Please dont kill Axel. I think he is a good man even if he is kind of angry at you a lot but he is nice. Also, he is my friend and Alec's friend and probably he is your friend even if it does not seem to be that way all of the time.

When do you get a brake? To come visit? Unless you have other places to go, please come see my home! I have a garden, and strawberys (which are very sweet this time of year, Preachir!) and it would be fun don't you think. If everyone come together. We can drink ale and eat food and have a good old time.

What is it like there, do you have a good time? Is it scarey? I think you and Alec and Axel are brave. It is a very brave thing to do as far as I am conserned, and I hope training is always easy and good for you and not difficult and I hope they are not mean and that the food is filling too.

It menas you are important to me just like Alec and Axel is because I don't have a lot of good friends and I think it is important to have a good friend to count on when the going gets touff.

This letter smells very distinctly of booze - probably the sweet ale that Henrik favors. It's smudged and hardly legible, and the spelling is worse than normal.

I am writng to Preachri and Alec too please look out for them because they are very small much smaller than you and me. it means they are not as strong as we are becase we are very bigger.

The letter is written in an oddly loopy hand - very hard to read and full of misspellings. However, it was folded very neatly. A surprisingly accurate drawing of Preacher and Alec's faces decorates the bottom.

I must warn you that I am terrible at writing and reading, but with Axel and Preachers help I was able to make this letter for you. I hope it brings a smile to your face! You sound like you could use a happy letter. I like knowing I can bring a smile to some ones face. That seems like a really good thing I agree. Getting this one from you was really awesome, I wasn't expecting one so its good to hear from you. Are you well? How is your family?

I am very glad you are my friend too! I will make sure to come see you when we come to Shiganshina soon I promise. Hopefully your work keeps you busy and it isn't too bad with our being gone.

Things are going remarkably well so far, it's not so scary no not at all~! The Bald men from the bonfire are here sometimes, but even that isn't so bad. People tend to shout a lot, but the meals are good, and I'm starting to be able to do proper push ups without falling on my face. Kinda anyway. I'm better at running than anything else I won't lie.

I hope we can come visit soon too! I had a good time hanging out with you guys. Don't be sorry, I know it was meant in good fun. I still had a good time, thank you for taking us out. I would like to see your garden, that sounds nice. I'm sure it'll grow apples some day! Those are always very good, that will be really neat when it does. I know a good apple pie recipe I'll have to make for you if you like apples and fruits. I'm not the best cook, but I'll defiantly try! Do you have a favorite pie? I know you like sweets, so I'm rather curious what kinds are your favorite. But yes Strawberries are rather good! I love them, and pineapple but we don't get those much anymore unless a fancy noble special orders them. Blackberries too, but I defiantly like sweeter fruits better than tart honestly.

This letter is written in very strong script - messy like the others, but written almost as if someone felt strong emotion as they penned the letter. The script is also much larger at the start, but fades back down to a more normal size as the letter goes on.

Hello Henrik,

Thanks for writing to me. It's nice to get letters from friends. My mother and sister write, but mostly to tell me things about my socks and eating enough food. I am a grown man Henrik. I do not need letters about my socks. So, I was happy to get a letter from you.

Training is okay. They are strict, but it isn't bad. So far, they only make you run laps or do chores as punishment. I like chores, so I don't mind. Unless it is horses, Henrik. Horses do not like me. I have to run a lot of laps, because I am one of the slowest runners in the group. It seems funny that as punishment for not running fast, I have to run more. It is a conununundrum.

When I first joined I thought I was making a mistake. I do not know much about fighting, Henrik. Mostly I know about working. But, I am glad I have joined, because you are right. I can look out for Preacher and Alec.

I would love to visit your house when we get out. I am not a good cook but, I am a good eater. Also I will be sure to bring a pie. I hope to see you soon,

The letter is written hastily, but an inordinate amount of time has been taken to decorate the margins of the page with flowers and stars and hearts. There is also a pressed wildflower tucked in the crease of the paper. It's blue, and it's held its color remarkably well. The start of the letter is a little faded, as if it had been written before the rest of the letter.

Wow, what a lot of advice. Thank you. For all of that advice. It's very [there is a large space here] helpful.

You don't have to worry about all that, because Preacher does not like me Henrik, and we do not talk very much. Today I was running laps and she was sitting there drawing doodles, making fun of me when I ran by. I did stop and try to be nice. I asked her what she was drawing, and I said she was a good drawer. Only, she got mad and tore a page out of her book and threw it at my head.

I know you are friends with Preacher so I sent it to you because it is a pretty good drawing, only, I can't say that to Preacher apparently.

Any way, I hope things are OK with you and yours. Are you still going to bars? I am not really a drinker, but sometimes. Sometimes I could use one.
