Kōsetsu,
Idaina
introduction
N A M E ; Idaina Kōsetsu N I C K N A M E S; Koko, and anything else anyone wants to call her. A G E ; twenty G E N D E R ; female S E X U A L I T Y; pansexual W E I G H T; 121 lbs. H E I G H T; 5'2" R E S I D E N C E; apartment right above the bakery, Coffee&Cakes. O C C U P A T I O N; pastry chef/store owner
backstory
T R A I T S; Bashful. This is to say the least. Idaina is extremely shy and nervous around others, which can be both positive and negative, depending on the situation. She's missed out on a lot of important experiences due to being a introvert, like dating and partying and being part of a club or team, which in some eyes make her boring. On the other hand, though, she's had less heartbreak, been given has a vivid imagination, and has grown insightful and observant of things around her. She's also very adaptable to being alone, which is important, though her social skills are lacking much more heavily. Koko often finds herself in embarrassing situations--embarrassing to her, anyway--and tends to brood over them long after they've happened. Idaina is the kind of girl who when the flight attendant tells her to have a safe trip, she'll wish them the same, and curses herself for over a year over it.
Curious. Like her timidness, this is also a two-sided coin. Koko has a tendency to meddle and get her nose in places where she doesn't belong, and it can get her in a lot of trouble. On the other hand, it also makes her great at finding out facts and what people's true intentions are, which is especially vital to her because of her naturally trusting nature. If something doesn't feel right, you can be sure she'll get to the bottom of it. She may not be the best with dealing with things like friendship and fights and flirting, but give her a clue and she could solve any mystery in a heart beat. Actually, if she wasn't so passionate about baking, Idaina might have made a good detective.
Temperamental. Hey, just because she seems sweet and innocent, doesn't mean she doesn't have a dark side. Koko has a bit of a temper on her, and a nasty one at that. She usually tries to remain passive, to not care, but eventually it blows up in everyone's faces, though it might not be until much later. She'll often get quite upset, depending on how angry she is, and say things that were better left alone. Because of her observation skills and her inevitable ability to listen, Idaina almost always knows what to say to get to someone's head. She's not very violent, however, though she does tend to spread nasty gossip when angered. She wouldn't turn down a challenge if it was an option to fight, though. Despite this, if something someone said truly hurt her instead of just set her off, she would be much more assertive than aggressive, demanding an explanation, but not being rude in the process. Either way, in the end, though, it's hard for her to keep a grudge. Usually, after it's all over, she can forgive all for what happened, and ask the same in return.
Evasive. You'd think after not being able to talk all her life that she'd be much more open about herself, but that is not the case. In fact, Idaina will avoid any sort of self-revelation if she can. It's not exactly that she has many things to hide--though of course, we all do have our secrets--it's more that she's just not comfortable talking about herself. This may be caused by various factors in her past, or maybe that's just the way she is, there's no telling. Koko gets tense when she has to speak at all, but talking about herself is a nightmare. Of course, she'll answer simple questions like her favorite books and movies and colors, and she'll enjoy long intelligent discussions about where we might have come from and if the shade of red she sees is the same shade everyone else sees, but as far as asking her something personal, forget it. Idaina will mostly just shrug and say she doesn't know, and ask you something to distract you from her.
Passionate. Now, this covers a wide range of things. Koko can be literally passionate about anything, from the warm breeze in early autumn to how many steps she takes from her car to her house. This is preeminent, since she has near-exhaustive trouble with small talk. The major thing she's so ardent about is, of course, baking. Idaina can make a cookie melt in your mouth, prepare a cake so moist it's almost dripping, and whip frosting so light you could float on it, and enjoy every second of making it. That kind of skill did not come naturally to her, though it might seem like it. It came through years of hard work doing what she loved, and the talent came along with it. Koko places a big importance on dreams and where they can take you, and though it might not seem like it, she takes life very seriously. Even with relationships, she's fierce about how she feels and doesn't take the word 'love' lightly, whether it's towards friends, family, or otherwise.
Accepting. Lastly, Koko is open-minded. Sure, some people will tick her off, and she'll probably have trouble approaching you, but in the end, it doesn't matter to her who you are, she'll appreciate you no matter what. This allows her to get along with all sorts of people, and relate to everyone in a different way. This has also given her an opportunity to experience things from all different cultures, a way to get back what she lost due to her shy demeanor. Acceptance is probably a minor trait, but to the people she welcomes, it's very important in order to establish a strong bond. It has also melded her into a much more well-rounded individual, and has given her a bit more tolerance.
B I O G R A P H Y; There's not much to say. Idaina was born in Okinawa and lived there her entire childhood. She moved to the Janhall with her father towards the end of her middle school years. Her parents had gotten a divorce when she was about thirteen, and after that was when her father started the bakery. She had never really gotten along with her mother. Idaina has always been distant with her, and that increased after she decided to live with her dad. There was a lot of fighting over her staying with her father, but in the end, her mother let her go where she wanted. Since then, they haven't seen much of each other.
Koko's father got remarried just last year, his new wife has already had one child, a little boy named Reikoku. Idaina also has an older half-sibling on her mother's side from a previous marriage, that of which she's never met but has always wanted to. Aside from that, she has two very close best friends that she went to high school with, and who will occasionally call and check up with her while they have free time from college. Idaina feels, though, that they're growing distant, and though this is normal in young adult life, it's still depressing.
Koko took over the store soon after her father and her step mother had their first child, and now lives in a small apartment above it. She doesn't play much of a social role, but instead handles financial matters. She is also the pastry chef, and spends most of her time coming up with new recipes for the shop. Currently, Idaina is on the look out for a good barista, having only one employee.
general
M E N T A LXXH E A L T H; Koko has a severe case of social anxiety, if that wasn't already obvious. She has medication for it, but never takes it, disliking the foggy feel it gives her. She's had a few anxiety attacks in the past, and from which she can tell you, they were hell, but recently it hasn't been as bad. Other than that, it's pretty normal up there. P H Y S I C A LXXH E A L T H; Pretty good, considering she runs a sweet shop. She likes to go walking when there isn't many people around, and during to the summer she'll visit the beach time to time for a swim. Sometimes, she'll eat an extra cupcake or pop a few chocolate chips in her mouth, but nobody's perfect, after all.
extra
B O N U S; She has a hard time eating around people. Part of the social phobia. P E T S; Rosemary, an albino corn snake that usually stays wrapped around her wrist unless she's working. There's also various amounts of stray cats and dogs that they feed in the back of the shop and occasionally name, but none that she would really call her pet. A B I L I T I E S; Idaina's mother was half lycan, which makes her a quarter supernatural. The can't turn into a wolf or anything of the sort, but she does have extremely finely-tuned senses. She can smell things from miles away, and taste every ingredient from a recipe. Her eyesight is crystal clear, though it could probably be better if she had training of some sort. Koko's strength and agility are also superb, but nothing inhuman. Her sharpest sense is probably her sense of touch and temperature. Sometimes she just loves to rub the texture of things. Unfortunately, though, her sensitivity toward temperature gets in the way sometimes. She's very picky about being too hot or cold. R E L A T I O N S;
