She walked up the drive to their home. She herself didn't own a car, and she usually walked almost everywhere she went. Sometimes, she'd take a bus or a cab. Usually that was only in cases of rain or extreme weather. Since the weather was rather agreeable, she had made the journey on foot as she normally would. She didn't realize just how much further away he lived till then. It had seemed a shorter distance when she was quick to wanna flee there after feeling embarrassed the night he rescued her from herself.
She carried a small paper boutique bag that had the items she was given to wear cleaned, pressed and folded inside. There was also a little card and a stack of small personal individual mini pies. They looked like your typical pie, but they were only big enough for three bites at the most. She came wearing a sundress. It wasn't see through, and it went to her knees. This was the best she could do in an attempt to keep it somewhat modest. Modesty was so not her thing, but she was finding she hadn't given up in her heart on winning him over to be his most favorite person. She had considered it.
That rescue had her thoroughly embarrassed. She was seriously through with the idea that he might ever think well of her. Sure, he seemed to be putting on a very polite front, but she was sure she'd never be his favorite. Well, after a week, she had stopped thinking like that. Thinking such consistent negative defeated thoughts just weren't her style. She was bodacious in most if not all ways. She would just find a way to move past it.
Earlier in the week, she had sent him a text to ask him what his schedule was like. He was supposed to be off today. As she finally made it up to the house, she hoped she hadn't come here for nothing. She put on her million bucks charming Cherry smile. She rang the doorbell. She hummed a song to herself.

Xander was indeed off today, he was getting ready to go for a swim in the pool, so when he came to the door it was with long curly locks free and wearing swim trunks. "Hello," he said opening the door and giving Cerise a smile, "I was just about to go for a swim. Sorry I didn't know you were coming right now. Did you call me ..." he said looking around wondering just what he had done with his phone. He opened the door wider to Cerise and turned to go find his phone, disappearing up the stairs.
"Come in, I'll be right back in just a few moments," he said as he disappeared from view completely hurrying down the upstairs hall and into his room where he was pretty sure he left his cell phone charging on his desk. Grabbing it, he looked at it and frowned at the amount of messages that appeared on his screen. People really seemed to want his attention today.
He headed back downstairs after a moment, sure that Cerise could hear his footfalls on the steps.

Oh ho... Mr. Modest came to the door in his swim wear. She had forgotten they had their own pool. She didn't know anyone else who had one, so it was a small detail that had slipped from her memory in the rush of so many other things she was avoiding recalling from that. As she walked in, her eyes roamed around refreshing her memory of them. This place just amazed her. Even Richard's loft for as nice as it was wasn't this grand. She felt a pang of envy in her heart. Why couldn't she live somewhere like this? So lucky.
Was he going swimming? Ugh. Too bad she didn't know or come dressed for it. If she went swimming, it'd give her an excuse to wear little. He didn't seem to give her a hard time about wearing a bikini at the pool that one time. Then, she recalled him insisting that she shouldn't be saying things like she'd take her panties off for him. That was something he thought was special. She would just have to do her best to hide that part of herself from him as much as possible.
She stood there in the room at the bottom of the stairs facing away looking at the doorways in the room. When the sound of his steps touched her ears, she turned her head back and looked up at him. In front of her, her fingers still clutching the bag. "Hope I'm not disturbing you, but I brought these back. Also... I didn't call or come see you much for a week. This is ok. Right?"

Xander gave a smile and a nod, "It's fine. I don't mind a little company. You company is always appreciated. I was going to go for a swim. You didn't bring a swim suit did you?" He held his hand out for the bag, not realizing, she's brought back the clothes he said she could keep. He would be happy and surprised by the pies because nice snack sized pie were never not appreciated especially when they tasted like Cerise's.
He walked down the hall, past the ballet, music, dining, and living rooms and headed into the kitchen, going straight to the refrigerator and opening it. He turned to Cerise, "Would you like something to drink or a snack. The cook, made a few chicken salad wraps for lunch that are really good. Sal really makes everything so delicious, though you're pies are better than his. Don't tell him I said that, if you ever meet him."
He grinned pulling out a water for himself and waiting for an answer from Cerise.

She had followed behind him. "Well, No. I didn't bring anything for swimming. If someone had answered his phone or replied to a text; I might have known." She teased. Then, she grew a little nervous his good nature would end up actually feeling guilty about it, so she quickly added, "Just teasing." Then, she followed him into the kitchen. "Yeah. I'm not too hungry right now. Just water is good." She stood there debating on saying something scandalous. One was something about she's fine with swimming without a suit. Or, she could just so in her bra and panties. That's almost just like a bikini. Knowing him, he'd get all frowns town on her. She nibbled her bottom lip to stop herself from saying that part. If he were anyone else, her clothes would likely puddle on the floor, and she'd just go swim in her buff. Xander though.... tsk, tsk. "Is it safe to assume me swimming in the nude is out of the question?" Then, she laughed one of those 'gotcha totally kidding' sort of laughs. Only, she was only joking as so far as to make him not think she was serious even though she really was.
Quote:
Xander gave a little frown at her statement until she said she was joking and he just gave her a smile and apologized anyway, "Sorry I left my phone upstairs on the charger this morning. I have a lot of messages from people, but it can't be helped. Doesn't look like anything too important."
He pulled out a water for Cerise and handed it to her before leaning against the counter and taking a sip of his own drink before straightening up and coughing as Cerise made a joke of sort, which he completely did not get. He face turned as red as his hair and she shook his head in the negative, "It's pretty safe to assume that skinning dipping is out of the question, if that is what you are asking."
His face remained red even as he pointed to the hallway, "It you want to swim, they are swim suits in the closet upstairs. Same room you got the clothes from last time, or I guess you can swim in you sundress, but that might not be very comfortable." However as long as didn't swim in the nude Xander would be happy.

Her eyes stalked the frown on his face. She hoped her own missed calls weren't something to be grouped with 'not important', but she was behaving as best she could. She unscrewed the cap off the bottle of water and sipped at it in a most lady like sort of way. The drinking was more of a going through the motions to seem and feel busying doing something.
It was such a curiosity to her. Someone the same age as her who got so red in the face about being naked. She thought back to the big deal about if she took her panties off for him. She sipped at her water some more as her eyes flickered with the contemplation. She arrived at previous conclusion she made before. This guy has to be a virgin. That was the only answer to why he'd be like that, but that itself was a mystery. Obviously he was pretty adorable. Girls at the pool liked him.
Rather then just blurt out something stupid, she smiled. "Ok. I'll go see." She disappeared up there to go find a suit. She stood there looking at them. If she weren't such a prideful woman, she'd happily be willing to accept most of these clothes if he had wanted her to have them. Still, she had the knowledge these belonged to one sister. The other sister knew what the other bought. If she happened by while Cherry was visiting, Cherry would talk to her about the two of them having lunch and going shopping.
Picking one out, she pulled her dress off over her head and laid it out across the foot of the bed. Her undergarments quickly following and laid together next to it. She did take a quick moment to relish being naked as she did quite enjoy her own nakedness a great deal. If only there were a mirror. Oh snap. There was! Duh, Cherry. Of course, in a house like this. She went and stood a moment admiring her body before pulling the bottoms on and securing the top around her ladies. The bottoms fit perfectly. The top was a little snug. Cherry's ladies were a little busty for the size, but she kept adjusting the straps to make it easier.
Finally, she realized that 2 piece wasn't happening, but she found this white number that was almost as good. She was able to get her boobs tucked in at least enough to cover up her nipples. She giggled mischievously to herself. Was Mr Oblivious so unaware that he'd miss that? She made her way back down stairs with her long mahogany tresses flowing behind her. "Xan.... I wanna ask you something. Will you hate that?" Maybe he would hate that. He didn't like calling her by a nick name.

Xander just waited for Cerise to finish getting dressed for the pool, rather happy that he wasn’t going to have to give up his swim, not that he would really mind all too much. It wasn’t like he had that many friends or hung out very often, so it was nice be able to. He was getting use to this being social thing. Even the nurses at work were commenting on how he seemed to have changed over the year, even though sometimes they still made him a little uncomfortable.
He looked up hearing Cerise call him and noted that unfortunately the swimsuit didn’t fit perfectly, but it covered enough, so he wasn’t going to complain, even if he could see more than he would like to see at the current moment in time. He, however, had long ago accepted that swimsuits were often anything but modest.
“Sure, you can ask me something,” he said motioning for her to follow him out the kitchen doors, onto the path that led to the pool, “I won’t hate it. It’s just a question, right?” He gave her a smile and continued down the length of the house, until the pool house was in view, further down the path and across the sprawling lawn.
“It’s just over there,” he said, “I showed you it last time, right?”

She laughed lightly. “Um. I didn’t mean will you hate a question. I wasn’t sure if you’d hate me calling you Xan. I notice that you only ever call me by my actual proper name, so I wasn’t sure if you’d hate being called by a nick name. You didn’t like that I called you cute either.” She followed along catching up quickly. Her eyes looked over the grounds. Damn. This place was really big. So big. Geez. Half her neighborhood could fit inside here. In part, it stirred her pride up even more. Deep down, she felt completely envious. How incredible he lived someplace like this. She wanted to live some place like this. It appealed to her not so much on grounds of greed so much as pride. Her ever feasting parasite of hubris she had.
“Oh. I think you did show me, but it never hurts to revisit something more than once. I’ve heard sometimes it can take a person hearing a thing up to seven times before they permanently remember it.” She clutched the water bottle she had remembered to grab on their way out the door. As they reached the pool, she wondered if they had towels in the pool house. From the outside, it looked almost like a small house in its own right. “Well… it is just a question. Two really. Sort of. They are very personal, so you might hate it. If you feel like you don’t know me well enough to answer. You don’t have to. If you decline to answer me, then you will need to tell me something else about yourself that is a secret or something not many people know about though.”
She didn’t want to just up and ask him out loud. She walked closer to the pool. Maybe she should near him in the pool and then ask.

Xander looked at Cerise and gave a little laugh, “oh sorry. No I do not mind the nickname. I always call you Cerise, because its a very nice name and its just the proper thing to do. If you would prefer if I called you Cherry I can, but Cerise is a very nice name.”
He continued across the path right up to the pool house opening the door and heading in. Off to the side was a nice sized hot tub and the other side was a bar or sorts, off to the right were bathroom with changing areas and showers. About three feet beyond the bar and hot tub was the pool which extended to the back of the pool house going from about 3ft deep to about 8ft. Lounge chairs lined each side of the pool for them to relax in, when they were done swimming.
He chuckled again and shook his head, “don’t worry, I’m sure it will be fine, go ahead and ask your question. I warn you though, I don’t have many secrets, so if I can’t answer the secret might be a little boring.” He walked over the other towel station that sat between the two bathrooms, picking one up and dropping it on a chair, before kicking his flip flops under it.

She smiled away when he laughed. That was a relief. While that was such a small little thing, it was enough that fed the idea of wanting to be his favorite person. “I don’t really have a preference for what you call me. You can call me whatever you want.” Proper thing to do. She would have snorted at that, but that’d be rude. “Oh my friend. You might be proper to a fault just about. Ah well, what can you do. We can only be who we are, right?”
Her envy deepened as she meandered around that pool building. It was so unfair. She wanted to live someplace like this. So much. A tiny feeling even deeper than that hatched a new feeling of being willing to do anything and everything it took to make that happen. Not necessarily here, but she would want something like this. A big house and fancy pools. A hot tub? Oh. She was so going in that before she left.
She sat on the edge of the 8 ft line of the pool. She looked at him a moment and then slipped in. She touched down at the bottom and came back up. Once back up, she twisted her now wet hair and tied it in a knot. She swam over to where he was. “I am not good with finding a more…. subtle way to ask you this. I guess subtly just really isn’t my thing anyways. I’m a fairly blatant person. “ She smiled and took a breath as she went in to ask. “Have you ever kissed anyone? Like… really kissed someone?” She was going to ask him if he was a virgin. She stopped herself because she felt like if he was; that might be a little mean to make him tell her that to her face. Most guys she had ever known would have rather been dead than admit to a pretty girl that they never been with a girl. She didn’t want to do that to him. This was sort of the same thing, but it was a little further out. Admitting to not kissing someone was like admitting all of it.

Xander gave a nod, knowing he would likely continue to call her Cerise, maybe one day that would change, but today wasn’t that day. It wasn’t that he didn’t do nicknames, he did, he called Liliana, Lily and Songbird, it was just that he was proper and he liked what he liked. If Cerise would have said she preferred Cherry, he would have changed to that thought to be polite. He laughed again, “Yes, that may be, but most people can say they never expect me to be rude or inappropriate, so that’s something at least.”
While Cerise swam over he quickly went to get a hair tie having seen her ties her’s up. He had still yet to get a haircut, more for be busy and lacking the desire or energy to actually go get it done, than anything else. So his curls still fell around his waist and needed to be tied up, though he wondered if maybe braiding it would be better.
He sat on the edge of the pool watching Cerise as she came out of the water and nodding when she started speaking. He could see how she could be blatant, being around her enough and he waited for her question. It was a simple one that he didn’t at all mind answered, he didn’t even blush as he admitted, “no I’ve never kissed anyone before. Had not reason really. I’ve not dated or even had a crush I don’t think. I’ve always been overly focused on my education and career everything else just sort of fell off. It will happen, when it happens.”
He went about quickly braiding up his hair and securing it with a hair tie before slipping into the pool himself, going under for a bit before coming back up and floating on his back. “I love the water.”

Her eyes just observed him with a rather incredulous look. The way he just said all that matter of fact like. The way it was just so nonplussed. “Really? That’s just…” She sunk down in the water till it was around her nose. She looked around thinking of a way to say what she wanted to say. “unusual. I mean.. Lots of people go through medical school and higher education and still end up marrying and having big families before their done.” Though really, the fact he hadn’t kissed anyone wasn’t quite as surprising. His responses to some of our outrageous comments had made her curious to ask that. “so… do you feel like you need a reason to? Like… sometimes it’s fun or nice to do things for the sake of doing them. Like…”
She thought about a scenario that might make sense. With her eyes on him keen almost like a predator on the hunt, she watched him. “Like, let’s say you walk into one of those Thirty One Flavor ice cream parlors. When you go there, you usually almost always end up getting one of two flavors, BUUUUTTTTT….. sometimes, you walk in and they have these new curious flavors. Like… maybe something sugar free. or low fat. you think… ugh. That probably tastes only like … a third like regular or REAL ice cream. So,you ask if you can have a free sample. Sometimes, they’ll have something like birthday cake or Reese’s Cups. You try those to see if maybe it’s good enough to make you deviate from your normal palette. Maybe the raspberry sorbet is actually really freaking fantastic. Maybe you think, ‘Hey, if I get this instead of my normal death by chocolate; I’d be eating way less calories. Not to mention sugar free is probably healthier. And.. it’s exciting to try something different.’ You try all these different flavors.”
She pauses and watching him and then continues. “There isn’t anything wrong with liking to try something. What if you bought a flavor of strawberry cheesecake. Only when you’ve taken a few bites, you realize it’s way too rich of a flavor. You can’t possibly eat a full cone’s worth, but you already spent your money on it.” Maybe he wouldn’t understand that part. Someone who’s grown up in the lap of luxury would probably just throw it out and order something they like better. She sighed at that wondering. “Sometimes, you never know if you’ll like something if you don’t try it. Who says you have to buy the whole cone to try it? And…. kissing is like tasting small spoonfuls of ice cream.”
She winced a little inwardly once she had finished. Maybe she had overplayed that. Still.Maybe she wasn’t supporting the idea of that. Maybe it was also propping up the other aspects of her.

Xander hadn’t been embarrassed when he made the statement, but Cerise sure made him feel like he should be. Maybe it was uncommon, but he didn’t think that was necessarily a bad thing. He floated thinking on it before she asked if he felt like he needed a reason. Did he? Yes, he thought, he wanted to really care about the first person he kissed, and he wanted it to be romantic or even spontaneous. He didn’t really know, but for sure it was who he kissed that matter.
He listened as she spoke about ice cream and trying flavors and what not losing him as she tried to make an analogy that he whole didn’t understand at the first part of her explanation. It wasn’t until she got to the end of the explanation that he understood what she was talking about and he stood up in the water.
“I don’t think you should just go around kissing people because you feel like it, im mean outside of your family or significant other. It’s suppose to mean something right? Its like an endearment, like kissing your child on the forehead. You don’t go around just kissing people on the forehead just because. It’s not like I plan for the first kiss I ever have to be at the altar, but I wouldn't just go um … make out … with the girl at the … um bar.”
He thought that was what she was talking about or something to that effect. He wondered briefly if she was trying to convince him because she wanted to kiss him, but he pushed the thought from his head. He doubted it, it seemed an innocent enough question that sparked more curiosity.
Xander ducked under the water and kicking off and gliding through the water to the 8ft end and coming back up. He again floated on his back for a second before backstroking back to where Cerise was.

There were obviously just some things they didn’t see eye to eye on. Modesty levels of clothes. Who you kissed or why seemed to now also be another. She genuinely listened to his side of things though. She was feeling out this side of him. It was the aspect of people she knew how to relate to best. After all, she really just didn’t know how to interact with people if it didn’t involve anything promiscuous at all. She could count her close friends on probably one hand, and acquaintances on the other. All her close friends were people she had at least kissed or more.
She treaded some water before floating around on her back feeling the water funnel into her ears and wet around her skin. The skin that was previously in the water meeting the air above the water. She found that sensation on her skin to be exciting. She moved her head to listen to this little chastisement. “Well, that’s very romantic and all Xander, and I’m sure that’s one way to see what a kiss can be. I don’t think it necessarily needs to mean anything to everyone. A kiss isn’t like…. “
She stopped. Well, yeah…. All the things she’d even bother to compare it to as something to do with a significant other. She already did those with several others. Though she had to conceded on some level maybe it wasn’t something she did with just everyone. Most of the people she enjoyed kissing were friends at least or favored friends with benefits. She didn’t always get into the nitty gritties with people the first time upon meeting them either. Though her reason for that was people often looked a different person in the daylight. She wanted to be sure the people she was entangling with were people she felt comfortable with. The ones she was especially comfortable with were frequent stops in her life as a rolling stone.
“Kisses don’t have to mean that you love someone or are in love with them. Even with that, you know it’s entirely possible to love someone enough to want to kiss them, and yet you aren’t at all in love with them. You would never marry them.”
The thing about that statement there was it was laden with one of her deeper issues. Commitment. The very idea of marrying or settling down with one single person; it was preposterous. That was like right up there next to her parents wanting her to give them grandchildren. She was just too full of herself to open up room for other people in that way. Not to mention, getting into a level of emotional involvement to get to that place. That was more closer to the heart of her problems. She wasn’t at all willing to put her heart on the line. She was rarely even willing to open up and make herself vulnerable for people to see anything beyond the surface or what she wanted them to see.
“Look… I’m just saying. I could never even think or consider someone the kind of person I’d consider marriage material if they couldn’t kiss me before we were married. That’s ridiculous. I live life in the moment. Tomorrow isn’t promised to anyone. If you look around this town, crazy stuff is going down all the time. People seem to go missing by the dozens. You can’t just assume you’ll have forever to see, hear, taste, touch, and feel everything there is to be. You have to do it right then while it’s in front of you. That way if this crazy s**t that goes on happens to be your turn. You can meet it with no regrets about all the things you never had in life. I’m a sensual person. I love experiencing life through my senses. Touch is really an important one. Kissing is part of that, but I can see what you mean. It’d be your first. You wouldn’t want that to be someone else’s after thought. I just think you’re overthinking what it should mean. You probably do that out of a lack of experience.”
Dammit, Cherry. Just…. stop talking. Yup. Gonna stop talking. She might have put her foot in it right then, but that was too late. She’d just shut herself up before she said worse things. Revealing the lurking temptress that hid inside her. That person who relished happenings just because they were inappropriate.

Xander frowned at Cerise who seemingly brushed off his sentiments, standing in the pool, though he had been floating before. He was a bit old fashioned, he knew it, if thrown to the sharks in this day and age, if he stepped outside his bubble then he’d likely be gobbled up whole. Kissing just looked very personal. Until that moment he hadn't even really thought about it, but it seemed very obvious to him the Cerise had definitely kissed someone before.
Her words stop and Xander sort of just watched her float around until she started to speak again, so much talk about kissing. It was making him a little uncomfortable in the moment, a very unsure feeling of being back in a corner so to speak. It felt sort of like a dare, in a way.
“I know that,” he said a little dead pan, feeling like a teenage, “but …” He didn’t really know what to add to the but and as she continued on having never been confronted so boldly about his beliefs before and hearing the truth in her words about Destiny City. Doubt settled in, if only just a little? Was he being ridiculous? He fought in that war, that night time menagerie of teens and young adult fighting for the earth, or something. If he died tomorrow, would he regret never having kissed someone, loved someone, touched them in an intimate way.
After a moment he shook his head, he honestly wasn’t sure, but he didn’t think he would. Still watching Cerise floating in the pool he wondered if he should just go ahead and kiss her. Would she even be okay with that? Seemed like she would. Xander though shook the thought from his head and just smiled and walked over to Cherry and touched her cheek lightly. He pushed the doubt from his mind after a few moment, he was who he was and she was who she was and that was just it.
“It will happen when it happens, be it tomorrow or never. It’s not that big of a deal if it never happens. If I die tomorrow not knowing what I missed maybe I’d learn for the next life time. I’m here now and I’ve still got time and right now I just want to swim.”
He fell back into the water, surely splashing Cerise and came back up laughing, trying to swim away before she had the chance to return the favor.

She felt a little unsure. The initial quietness followed by that dead pan answer. She hoped that she wasn’t overstepping and pushing this guy too far. Already she knew of him that he was just a genuinely nice person. While she kept feeling this need to acquaint herself with him the way she knew how to connect with people. It was testing his boundaries. Learning how he is by the way he responds to various stimuli, or by the way he answers his questions. Then, there he was. The look on his face, the touch on her cheek.
She felt like they were suddenly on the brink of something that itself was a little different and unique from others like it. Whoa. Truth was she had been considering the possibility of going up and kissing him. Just because she felt like it was a shame someone so amazing had gone his whole life unkissed. Xander was a nice guy, and there was no reason he needed to become his own version of the 40 year old virgin.
Then, when he didn’t, and she heard his reply. How could she argue with that? Still, the touch on her face made muscles in her back unrelax. Suddenly she started sinking, and water rushing up her nose. She stood up quickly and coughed a time or two. She quickly shook and wiped the water out of her face. Then, she turned her head with a diabolical grin. “Oh. You didn’t…” She then moved into the water most shark like looking for a good spot to get him back with.
Another thought then slipped in her head. This had been going rather well. She didn’t want to press her luck, but dammit, she just couldn’t help herself. She narrowed in and swimming a close and narrow circle around him surfaced. “Ok. Lemme ask you this then. Whenever I come to find you. I by some amazingly good stroke of luck find you. But…when i met you by the pool, you were by yourself. Whenever I see you, you’re by yourself. Can I ask you why that is? Are you a lone wolf type? Just someone who likes being left alone? Cuz you know… if you are… you don’t have to humor me by letting me stick around and bother you. I’m an only child, so it’s in my nature to seek people out. I will hang around people till they get sick of me and make me leave. That doesn’t mean that I have the right to ruin your days off if you’d rather not see me.”
Even though it was another heavy thing to ask him about, she followed it up with another circle around him. He was so unlike any of the other guys she associated with. He was both seemingly difficult and easy at the same time. It was confusing. Yet, she couldn’t resist the draw. The pull like a moth to the flame. Deeper still, a part of her wondered if she better stop trying to navigate into parts of his mind most people would have the decency to leave untread. It might result in some reciprocal need to open up herself and reveal aspects of her own nature. Because she was full of secrets and tales. She was a dirty bird, and there were at least several handfuls of stories she wasn’t prepared for him to hear at all.
