Shikoba took in the landscape through narrowed eyes. The curve of the land was unnatural, as was the smell, the very air even. It was corruption and Insanity and death and everything that reminded him of an old, festering wound not allowed to heal. And there were horsemen lost in this. That it was Charon's quest bothered him, but the executioner's allegiance to Medea wouldn't waver; this was something he felt should be expected from any part of the Clans, regardless of their affiliation. That, and pulling them to their cause for revenge would be handy.

During their walk, however, Shik stopped at one point as something occurred to him. He turned to Shaheen slowly and asked, "Was this what it was like, when you were lost?"

It was something they hadn't talked about in a long time. Shik didn't like bringing it up as the past was the past, but now that they were there and searching, he couldn't help but wonder...

Charon's quest it might have been, but that meant little to Shaheen as she scoured the land with her own insanity tainted gaze. Their surroundings reeked of impurity, as though infected by a terminal sickness, and it was impossible not to have her nose wrinkle in digust.

But even now, after all of her efforts to cure herself, to control the insanity that slowly ate away at her insides, after feeling, in a sense, that she had actually succeeded, it still called to her. It still coaxed from her a sense of longing, a need to shed her body and join the whispers that sought to lull her.

Shik's words earned him a sharp glance, as eyes that had seemed for a moment to have grown empty, sharpened to attention once more.

"No. I was alone then, and without hope, or anything else to keep me anchored."

Clearly this situation was completely different.

By the time Gzifa had regained consciousness, she had found herself alone again. Still curled up in a fetal position, the tiny war horsewoman scanned her surroundings with half-opened eyes, searching for water. None. She pulled a face, deciding that those two conquest and death horsemen were just very stupid and useless after all.

Gzifa pulled herself back up onto her feet, staggering as she took her first few steps. Hunger and thirst were nothing, she told herself, though her body showed otherwise.

She'd find her kinsmen herself. Since when did war need help from the others anyway.

Back into the desert the horsewoman wandered, her eyes scanning the landscape as they shifted in and out of focus. Two figures loomed ahead in the distance, looking much more familiar to her than the ones she'd met before. She wasn't sure, however. It wasn't the first time she been seeing things in the desert.

The horsewoman spread her wings and lifted herself into the air, landing next to the two of them. Wow, they really did look like her kinsmen. Gzifa clung onto the back on the other horsewoman, thinking to herself that she did look very familiar, except that she couldn't really remember.

"Sisterrrrr," she mumbled, rocking back and forth weakly.

"I see." Shaheen wouldn't want his pity or sympathy, and so he showed none. It was something that was irrevocable now as far as Shik was concerned, a distant event that had shaped their lives but did not dictate them. He could hope that they would save someone else from this grievance, though.

The sound of wings put him on the defensive, and he was about to summon his dagger when he saw that it was no gray creature but one of their own--and he knew this only because the woman wore War's minimal clothing and did not look half dead like Famine's. (Everyone else seemed to be sprouting wings, though; what a bizarre trend.)

Though doubtless Shaheen had seen her as well at the same time, he still brushed her with a wing to point the lone figure out before approaching. "You are with kin, War-Sister," he greeted in his rumbling voice, watching to see if she needed support. "Welcome back. Are you alone? Were there others near you?"

(( Referenceish, very outdated, but general appearance + some sweet sideburns and longer hair. Basically think berserker winged wildman ))
