The man closed his Twitter with a small smile gracing his lips, grey eyes closed with a book in his other hand, head laid back on the seat cushion. He'd convinced Otto to help him practice therapy, which in turn meant Otto would be spilling some beans for him.

Namely, Nevada. Stormy had been tight lipped about it, and Lex wasn't satisfied with how that whole discussion turned out. He was a nice person, he really was, but he didn't like not knowing.

The library was empty, and if Otto followed the smell of coffee and cedar, he'd find Lex easily.

Otto despised the smell of coffee, mostly because it reminded him of Kat. Kat and her wretched coffee pranks. He kept going only because he wanted to find out if the promised cakes would be moist and delicious.

Sure enough he found Lex. He looked a little too comfortable. Or maybe Otto just felt uncomfortable. After all, he'd never purposely gone to someone to fish around in his brain, or gotten hypnotized. It was kind of ridiculous. And probably fake. Maybe getting those cakes would be easy.

"Sup." He greeted casually, flopping down in a nearby seat. "So how's this go down?"

"Hey." Lex greeted back, leaning forward and rolling his shoulders, small grin still playing on his lips. "Haven't had time to make the cakes, but they'll be at your door the second they're out of the oven. Scout's honor." He affirmed, nodding encouragingly. He hated backing down on a promise, after all.

"Well, there's a few ways to do it. I could use a pendulum, or I could dose you with enough anethesia. Either way, I end up prompting you with a question and you end up answering. Simple enough, really." He explained, sitting back and pulling both a hypodermic needle and a stopwatch from his pocket.

"Choose when you're ready."

The pendulum sounded bogus. Something a fake magician would use. Otto was much more trusting in the drug within the needle. After all, Lex was a Life tech. Close enough to a doctor.

"Needle's fine." He answered, scooting close enough for Lex to be within reach. "I didn't know hypnosis was a legit thing."

"Neither did I until I read about it in one of the psychology books I delved into when I first got on the island. The brain's pretty interesting, to tell you the truth." Lex said, pulling out a rubber band and strapping it around Otto's bicep, waiting for the vein in his elbow to pop out.

"Anything on your mind lately? I know you said on Twitter you wanted to forget that conversation about BDSM and certain Hunters..." He chuckled a bit, dabbing at the now exposed vein with a cotton swab.

Otto tried not to watch him work too much. He could handle needles just fine, it was just a little bit eerie.

"A lot on my mind. And if you're talkin' about Rep and his boy toys, of course I was grossed out. Not anythin' I wanna imagine." Hot girls in bikinis? Sure. Men in straps and leather? Nope. Nope nope nope.

"Other than that you'd have to be more specific. Worries just sorta pile up on this island."

"I understand both those sentiments." Lex sighed, putting the tourniquet off and giving the boy's vein one more dab of the cotton swab. "Though sometimes I'm more worried about what happens on Twitter than the s**t we throw ourselves into."

Taking the cap off the needle, Lex gave the end a little tap, forcing out any airbubbles that may have been in the liquid. "Well, I heard you were in the infirmary for a while, ran into a piece of work in the Haunted House by the sounds of it." He cleared his throat, keeping the needle pressed against the boy's forearm. "A little storm cloud told me you lost more than just blood."

"Twitter is a dumping ground. Sometimes s**t ain't really as bad outside of it. Sometimes." The effects it left on his peace of mind was another thing.

Otto's eyes darkened at the mention of the Haunted House. "Last time I spent any time in an infirmary was after a botched artifact mission." Last he'd gone, he hadn't been touched. He'd been covered in blood, and his mind had been ripped asunder, but the blood that covered him had not been his own.

"But the last time I was in the Haunted House... that was when Nevada got..." Otto swallowed, watching the needle dip into the skin. "She got killed."

Lex's easy smile faded to a straight line as he took a hand to the small of Otto's back, helping him ease better into the chair. Concern knit his brows as he wound some bandaging around the entry point, feeling nearly tempted to wipe the boy's bangs out of his face. "I'm sorry about your loss. That had to be hard." He continued, treating Otto as though he were still completely sentient.

"If you could, I'd like for you to describe to me the day you lost Nevada. What happened, and how. Feel free to divulge as much as you please." He'd slipped into a more comfortable voice, eased but well woven and rhythmic. He pulled out a notebook, and clicked Regal in preparation to take notes.

Otto's consciousness slipped as he was eased back, and all that was left was the part of his mind Lex had access to.

The day she died was still raw. As if it had happened hours ago. He could feel the chill and sadness. The fear. The pain. "She went off on her own. I caught her outside the house. She was still weaponless, so I went in with her." He murmured darkly, the memories playing before his eyes like a movie screen.

"We ran into a zombie named Alex. It woulda been fine if I coulda taken him on. But... the floors gave way.." His voice started to get somewhat shaky. "The lights came on, and we were in an empty room. She was trapped with Alex, and there was an invisible wall in-between me and them. Nevada screamed for help."

That horrible helpless emotion swelled like surges of the ocean in his heart. "I tried to break it down, but nothin' I did would work. Alex attacked her. He tore at her shoulder. Bit her. Ripped at her... She kept calling out for me. Telling me to look away. I tried to knock down that wall, I really tried. My hands started to bleed."

"Then he.. he tore out her throat."

She'd died in pain. Terrible, agonizing and terrified.

"Alex left. The wall was gone. I went to her side but she was..."

Lex scratched notes down with cool demeanor, attempting to be as professional as he could be while Otto recounted the events of a friend's death. While he hadn't been as great friends with Nevada as some of the Islanders, she'd been one of his first friends on the island. He felt more sorry for Otto at this point, however. The boy hardly showed emotions, and now he was spewing them raw.

"Alex. What did Alex look like?"

"Rotting... his teeth and chin were covered in blood even before he got to her..." He shakily recounted, a shudder in his voice.

"One leg and one arm were skeletal. He had.. mismatched hair. His skin was almost grey it was so dead. I'd run into him in the past, too." He explained all he could of his appearance, his wretched demeanour.

"It was foggy when he attacked her, but when the fog left, he did too." The insanity of the House likely aided in the zombie's behaviour, but he doubted it had been unintentional regardless.

"He's on the student council." He recalled from his spy work in Death, "He's ********' cold. Evil b*****d..."

Lex's face grew a little more taut, still scratching out notes on Otto's emotional state and Alex as well. This was good stuff, very interesting indeed. He didn't even think it would work this well.

"Do you want to kill Alex for what he did to you?" Lex proposed, leaning forward slightly. He'd taken a personal vow to not suggest anything to Otto, or anyone, and was trying not to. He just wanted to see how far he could delve into the young man's brain. "If you could, how would you do it?"

"I wish I could.." He murmured darkly.

"I wish I could do to him what he did to me." He murmured more, but his voice seemed distant and sad. "I wish I could tear him apart. But it'd never come close to the pain I felt when I saw her die. He'll never know how that feels." Halloween would corrupt but it did not die. They just came back angrier and more demented. He'd only continue the cycle.

"I hate him."

"Hate is a terribly strong word." Lex muttered, scrawling down Otto's intense emotions. Hypnosis really did work, it seemed. He'd unlocked the boy's emotions with a simple needle, and a few questions.

Then again, he had picked an incredibly raw and fresh vault. Maybe he'd try something old, a scar already healed. That'd be their next session, if this continued. "So you'd take revenge?" Lex proposed, leaning slightly further, voice hushing. He knew Merlin was involved with the concept of revenge, but he didn't know to what extent.

Not that it really mattered, now that the b*****d was off the island. Surely petty acts of vengeance didn't do anything for the old thing. "What would you say to Alex if you saw him again?"
