Days ago, a pair of girls attempted to murder their friend in order to gain the approval of Slenderman, who they believe is real. All three of the girls involved are twelve years old.

The victim was stabbed 19 times and left for dead, but was able to receive help and is now undergoing hospitilization. She will survive, but she and her family now face a long, uphill battle. Members of the creepypasta community have set up a fundraiser to help cover medical treatment and court expenses.

High-profile tragedies are sadly not uncommon, but this one has struck me very deeply for personal reasons, and I want to help the victim in any way I can. I encourage everyone to donate if possible, but if you are unable to, please consider signal boosting to create more awareness of this fundraising effort.

The victim's family has also requested "homemade hearts of paper, fabric and felted wool that are purple in color and infused with prayers, love and light." These will be used to decorate the walls of the girl's room, "to remind her that the power of love is greater than all else." The address provided to send these hearts to is:

Hearts for Healing, P.O. Box 407, Waukesha, WI, 53187-0407.

Edit: At the moment, there appears to be some confusion concerning how well thought-out this fundraiser is, and whether the organizers are even capable of getting the money to the family. I will not remove the link, but please hold off on donating or signal boosting until this notice is removed. If another, more reliable fundraiser is set up, I will link to it instead.

It is really a messed up story/case. Almost sounds like something you would have heard about in Supernatural.

This reminds me of a time back when I was a freshmen in highschool. There was a news story about a group of boys crushing their friend in a sandbox, because of a move Gaara has on Naruto. That tragedy stemmed a lot of stigma for any type of thing related to anime in my area. I can only hope that all three girls receive help, mentally or health-wise, in the future, and that the victim makes a full recovery.

That's really messed up...makes you wonder why anyone would do such a thing...and so young.

I hope the best for the victim and her recovery...physically, emotionally, and financially.
I hope the two girls responsible get the guidance, therapy, and surveillance they clearly need.
