Days ago, a pair of girls attempted to murder their friend in order to gain the approval of Slenderman, who they believe is real. All three of the girls involved are twelve years old.
The victim was stabbed 19 times and left for dead, but was able to receive help and is now undergoing hospitilization. She will survive, but she and her family now face a long, uphill battle. Members of the creepypasta community have set up a fundraiser to help cover medical treatment and court expenses.
High-profile tragedies are sadly not uncommon, but this one has struck me very deeply for personal reasons, and I want to help the victim in any way I can.
