[Part 1: Arrival on Megrez]

There was one aspect of senshi life that Luca had not explored yet. It had been mentioned to her a long time ago by an Eternal senshi, Maia (one of the first senshi she had ever met, actually), and yet she had never actually made any motion to investigate it. For several months, she had neglected the concepts of a home planet and a past life, and ignored the presence of a certain button on her senshi phone. Now, during a time when being on Earth seemed to bring more trouble than solace, the idea of going into space seemed like a good one.

At this point, Luca knew better than to henshin up in her house, lest her Order aura bring Chaos baddies home. She headed into her favorite alleyway to transform in and pulled out her henshin pen. A glowing, egg-shaped light formed around her. Cracks appeared in the light, and Sailor Megrez burst forth from the egg like a hatching bird. Once that was done, she pulled out her senshi phone, pressed the center button… and wasn’t entirely sure what to do. Something about concentrating? She focused on the idea of finding her planet, of searching and traveling. Soon, the world seemed to blur around her, and she felt something like movement.

A few moments later, her feet touched ground somewhere. When her vision stabilized, Megrez found herself in a very overgrown field, with grass that came up to her knees. At first, all she saw was grass in every direction, and she wondered if she had somehow been brought to the wrong place. No, that wasn’t possible. How could a senshi phone be attuned to somewhere other than Earth and the home planet? For that matter, how could she be attuned to anywhere other than those places?

A little squinting and peering around revealed some shadows in the distance, and so Megrez started off in that direction. The shadows proved to not be a mirage, and they became bigger as she came closer. It took a good ten or so minutes of walking, but eventually, one of the shadows became clearer. There were four blade-like structures coming out from a tower-like base. When she got closer, she had her guess as to what the shadow was confirmed: it was a windmill. Obviously, it wasn't working, but it was the first sign that there had ever been life here for Megrez. An idea came to her: she took out her senshi phone, activated the camera function, and took a picture of it. This would be nice to show the others, she thought.

The door to the windmill had been torn off and was laying down by the side of the building. Curious, she entered and found that it had several floors inside. This windmill must have been for making flour, not just wind power, and certainly not just for decoration. Suddenly, a voice drifted to Megrez's ears. A man's voice said, "Here for the grand tour, Lady Megrez?" and a scene flashed before her eyes: rustically-dressed women and men loading grain into bins. Just as soon as it appeared, it was gone. She blinked, as though that would suddenly make it come back. Was this one of those visions of the past that Maia talked about? Well, duh, it had to be. It was a shame that she couldn’t take a picture of that.

Megrez looked back out the door of the windmill. It seemed that there was a village (or, rather, what remained of one) a short distance away. At the very least, she knew her next destination.

[Part 2: Culture in Agriculture]

The village's remains were only a short walk away from the windmill. When Megrez got there, she saw the ruins of cottages and roads. There must have been a series of little cobblestone streets connecting each area of this village; right now, she was clearly on the outskirts. There was an overturned wheelbarrow not too far from here, and when she looked at it, another flash occurred. For a moment, it was standing up and filled with all manner of crops: carrots, potatoes, some apples, a few ears of corn. Then it was all gone, dead, dingy and empty. This was clearly a rural area. Megrez found herself wondering if the whole planet was like this, or if she had just ended up in a rural countryside area.

Going further into the village, the frequency of the ruined cottages increased. It must have been quite a prosperous little hamlet when the planet was alive. She simply went where the roads took her, not straying too far from the main path. Occasionally, she would take a picture of the remains of a cottage. Finally, she reached an area that seemed to be the town square. A wrecked, empty fountain stood in the center of the area. If Megrez needed proof that this was her homeworld, she got it: the spouts of the fountain came out of a large egg (which had since been cracked). Yes, an egg to honor the Senshi of Eggs. She couldn't help but smile as she took a picture of it. While she knew that the fountain wasn't dedicated to her specifically, she couldn't stop feeling like it was. It was for the other me, my past self, she reminded herself.

Another vision came to her, lead in with another man's voice: "Welcome to our humble village, Lady Megrez." There were people all around the (now intact) fountain, looking quite excited over something. The gazes of the people were in her direction, and it soon occurred to Megrez what the people were so excited about: her, or rather, the other her. The past Megrez must have come to this village for some reason. It was nice to see that her past self was respected as a senshi, and she felt something like pride swell up in her chest. This was her world, the world her past self loved and was loved by. Even if it was nothing but ruins now, perhaps the current Megrez would come to love it too. No, that wasn't right; she already loved it.

As the people blinked out of existence, Megrez found herself faced with questions. Where did her past self live? Did she have a palace? Did her past self have dark secrets like she did? That last question made her frown. If her past self was free of the blood that now stained her, she would feel... would it be jealousy? Perhaps so. Perhaps she would be jealous of her supposedly purer past counterpart, who did not feel the pain she did. Then again, a person didn't need to kill to have dark secrets. Perhaps, in due time, she would see all of the sides of her past self.

Following that reverie, Megrez left the town square and followed the roads to the other side of the village. She did not see anything in the distance; any other villages or towns or cities must have been some ways away. She doubted these people had cars to get them from place to place. Maybe they had horses or some Megrezian equivalent. Since there was nothing else around, Megrez was at a loss for what to do.

After thinking for a moment, she got an idea: perhaps she could teleport home and then teleport back, and it would spit her out in a different location. After checking her phone to make sure that the pictures she took were still there (they were), she pressed the center button on her senshi phone and focused on going home. Once again, her vision blurred, and she sensed movement.

When Megrez’s feet touched ground again and her vision stabilized, she was back in the alleyway she had started out in. Okay, time to do it again, she thought. She pressed the center button, focused on finding her planet… and nothing happened. Nothing happened as she tried five more times, wasting nearly fifteen minutes in the process. Come on, it’s got to work more than once!

She checked her senshi phone’s screen and saw a countdown: 3 weeks. She had to wait another three weeks before she could try again. She had barely been there for more than a few hours and had only explored one village, only to get a birdbrained idea and totally gyp herself out of exploration. Oops.

Sighing, Megrez powered back down into Luca and headed home. At least she had proof she was there in the pictures and some stories to tell.
