Allyra ran without giving direction a single thought. Her head was far too clouded by the chaos of denial. "It can't be true..." She muttered as several tears flew off her face as she ran still wearing her sister's dress. Finally her strength faded as she neared a lake. She hadn't the faintest idea nor care where she was or how far she had gone. Ally fell to her knees and looked at her reflection in the water. Her mind took over as her dark hair faded white and her eyes sparkled blue like the sky. Out of frustration she splashed the image away and hugged her knees. "Has everything been an illusion this whole time...?" She mumbled. "A false memory?" She didn't hear the tall bell tower toll on the other side of the lake. Ally was far too confused to even feel the grass beneath her own... well, beneath Ari's body.

Arillena

It was rare that Kyouya had a day off, even on the weekend. But what had brought him to the Kodansha garden, just past the cathedral? Difficult to say ... he'd ensconced himself on one of the park benches tucked under the delicate leaves of a Japanese maple, and had been spending time writing, looking up and around for several minutes, then writing again.

When he looked up this time, though, as if lifting away from the stream of words, he was startled to see a familiar figure collapsed on the ground nearby. Truth be told, his first thought was How did I miss her arrive?, followed by, Is she all right?

The notebook and pen disappeared into one pocket, and he automatically reached into a different one for his cell phone as he rose, the concern that he might need to dial for an ambulance or her father hiding itself under reflective lenses. He came over, carefully making enough noise for his presence to be noticed, before calling to the white-haired girl. "Miss Arillena? Are you all right?"

The only word she was able to register from the voice was Arillena. "So it is true..." She mumbled. Ally brushed the white hair off her shoulder as she turned her head slightly to see who had approached her. "K-Kyouya...Ootori?" A memory in her mind recalled. Another tear fell. She looked back to the water. "Leave me al-" she began, but stopped herself. Alone? No... I've been alone far too long.

She shook her head and thought back to what he had asked. "No, I'm not alright." She explained no longer caring how insane she was about to sound. "I just discovered that I'm not supposed to exist. That everything I've seen, heard, felt, and known has only been a- a simple reflection of someone Else's life-time.." And that no one told me... Ally wondered if Ari had figured it out yet. She doubted the bubbly elf would have kept it from her.

Arillena

That calm, practiced poker face served Kyouya well. While he'd been expecting some sort of problem, this certainly hadn't been what had first come to mind, though he parlayed it with the conversation he'd had with Arillena's father, and supposed it could make some amount of sense.

"I'm not sure I understand," he said carefully, lowering himself to sit near her. "Why are you not supposed to exist?" On the surface, it sounded like some of the existential mourning and philosophy that pretty much every teenager got into at some point -- Kyouya himself not entirely excepted, though he preferred not to think about it. Those particular journal pages got burned in disgust when he found them a second time.

Ally felt herself shake her head. She knew this wasn't going to make any sense to a normal person. However the words kept coming. "I always thought That I was a real person... That I was alive and had my own thoughts and feelings..." She said quietly. "...Only to be told that I'm just a shadow of a life that wasn't supposed to exist here." Ally sighed. This isn't going to get anywhere. For Ari's sake I should at least try to make this sound real. I'd hate to trouble her anymore... "Sorry... I know you probably think you're talking to Ari right now... And I guess in one way you are, but..." She paused. "I thought I was Allyra. I have all these memories of being Ally as an individual. But now I'm being told that those memories were fake. And That I'm not Allyra. That I shouldn't be here. I shouldn't be a part of Ari at all. It was all a mistake..." Her thoughts returned to Faolan and his confession. But it wasn't his fault...

"I wonder what would happen if I had just disappeared." She muttered. "If I never existed Ari... she wouldn't have had all those nightmares. She'd of grown up without being afraid of the dark. Afraid of me..." Ally shook her head again. "I'm probably not making any sense to you am I? After all, you probably thought we were two different people too..." She left that open. From what she understood about this person, he was very insightful. Perhaps he had figured it out already. But why wouldn't he- why didn't anyone say anything?

"I don't want to keep hurting Arillena. She's... Well, She's not my sister actually. Maybe before all of this... we could have been... but..." She look at Ari's pale hands, then wrapped her arms around herself. "I'm afraid of what will happen to her..."

Arillena

Kyouya let her speak, listening attentively and not making any immediate judgements. Rather, he absorbed the stream of words, letting them sift deeply into that steel-trap mind of his. Regardless of what was going on with Miss Arillena, or Miss Allyra (whichever it was, and that niggling reminder about the color of her hair still bothered him -- but that was not relevant right now -- ), there was clearly something very deeply wrong with the young lady, at least emotionally at the moment.

It was only when her words finally slowed to a halt, and he had had a moment to process them, that he parted his lips to speak. Those sharp, dark eyes remained riveted to her face, studying her with all the intensity that belonged to Kyouya Ootori, though his words remained quiet and level, evoking a deep, calming stillness. "Why do you think you're not a real person, Allyra-san? Just because someone told you so?"

Ally was silent for a moment hearing his question. A whisper of pointlessness echoed in the back of her mind. You're not supposed to be here. You shouldn't exist. You are only causing other people's pain. She shook her head trying to silence the tormenting voice. "Yes, I was just accidentally informed by a couple of people that I'm just..." Again she paused. Even though her mind and emotions were out of control- she somehow was able to remember who she was talking to. Ally took a deep breath. "That I'm just an imaginary friend from long ago..." It was as close to the truth as she could get without raising too much medical alarm. "Maybe it would be better for her if I just disappeared." She sighed.

Maybe you should both just vanish~ The tormentor in the back of her mind whispered. Ally shook her head again trying to ignore the voice but it continued. After all, How fair is it that only one of you is able to survive? It should have been you all along. So if you have to disappear- she should too~

"She should too..." Ally muttered watching a water spider dart across the water. "We should disappear... Then no one would have to deal with us anymore..." She chuckled darkly, "Why didn't I think of that before." A white haired Allyra stood up and stared blankly at the lake before her as her reflection stared back with equally empty, sad eyes. Her previous concern for protecting the perspective of sanity for her sister vanished. "If I go somewhere no one can find me, it'll be like neither of us existed,"

~~
Deep inside Ally's head, behind the lying and torturous voices- another was attempting to cry out to her. Don't listen to them! It shouted. Nothing will change until you accept yourself, for who you are!

Kyouya studied her gravely, before rising to stand at her shoulder, his reflection adjoining hers in the water. "And who's to say that they told you the truth?" It was rare that he touched people, but he laid a slim-fingered hand on the girl's shoulder, the sensation helping to anchor them in the real world, not just in her mind. "You seem real enough to me."

A small, knowing smile lurked in the corners of his mouth. "And I'm not exactly one known for hallucinations." The smile disappeared, slowly, as he caught the dark chuckle and the ominous tone to her words.

"Not true," he pointed out levelly, though perhaps there was just a whisper of steel under that velvety-smooth voice of his. "There are plenty of people who would notice if you disappeared, and most would be rather distraught about it. You wouldn't relieve anyone; instead all you would do is make them frantic with worry about you, regardless of your method of disappearance." It didn't matter which of her personalities he was speaking to; the words were intended for both.

~~~~~~~~~~
The bright tiny voice rang out amongst the chorus of darkness. You must listen Ally! You were never meant to disappear. No matter what happens you will not vanish! You can be at peace. You only have to accept it. Accept yourself, and you will live on!
~~~~~~~~~~

Allyra blinked. Live on! She blinked again as tears began to fall down her cheeks. "What... What am I saying..." She asked herself. "This isn't what I wanted to happen..." The elvish girl brought her hands her to face as what felt like centuries of tears poured from her eyes. She felt Kyouya place a hand of her shoulder. As he spoke a mental image appeared in her head.

~~~~~~~~~~
Ally stood before a large endless wall, a blurred image of herself reflected back. The foggy silhouette mirrored her as she tapped on the wall... Glass? She took a step back as the wall cracked. Voices resonated around her as several shards fell to the ground. "No matter what you must live on!" "Reside forever in the dark!" "What have I done?" "You seem real enough to me." "Not a shadow, but a reflection."
~~~~~~~~~~

"I see..." Ally whispered... through the tears and behind her hands she smiled faintly. "I've been trapping myself in this darkness, and only making others worry by doing so... Thinking that Keeping it all inside would stop it from hurting others." She rubbed her eyes and looked up at Kyouya curiously. Allyra had never considered that to be the case. "Do you think... If I wished hard enough, I could free myself from my own internal prison?" She asked. The elf felt the tiny voice in her head smile. She turned back to the water, "Then maybe... Everything would be okay..."

Kyouya chuckled softly, glad to see the sparkle in Ari? -- Ally? -- the girl's eyes come to life again. "Wishing is one thing, but it won't get you very far without the work to accomplish it, too." he reminded her. "Of course, given what it sounds like, I think the warden ought to let you out early for good behavior," he teased her gently.

He squeezed her shoulder very lightly, and let his hand drop away, now that she seemed more grounded. "Why wouldn't things be okay? You know what you need to do, don't you?"

Ally stood silently. The hurtful voices inside trembled as they realized the elf understood her purpose. She smiled. "Yes, I think I do." She whispered with a small smile. I understand now... I must return what was stolen from us. Even if it means fading away. I won't disappear. She wouldn't allow that. The familiar sensation of nausea warned the elf that her time was almost up. She wrapped her arms around her stomach by force of habit, but the pain she initially felt was weaker than it had been. So that's why we could never meet Ari. Because we've never been apart. Ally giggled softly realizing the faint irony of their situation. Suddenly feeling weak she fell gently to her knees. Without looking up she asked. "Even in the darkest of nights when there's not a glimmer of visible light to be seen... One is never truly alone. Wouldn't you agree, Kyouya?" She felt the dizziness begin to swirl in her head, but the girl forced herself to stay awake... there was once more thing she wanted to say.

His first instinct, as she dropped back to her knees, arms wrapped around her waist, was to reach both for her and again, for that cell phone, for an emergency call. She must be ill. Nauseous? Feverish, maybe. His eyes widened slightly as he reconsidered the entire strange conversation in a terrifying light. Tell me she didn't poison herself before she got here...! The phone was in his hand before he realized it, flipped open with his fingers immediately poised to dial.

Crouching down next to her, he nodded firmly. "Yes. You're right, we're never alone. Allyra, look at me. What's wrong? Are you unwell?"

Ally looked up at Kyouya. Her vision was blurring as she tried to remain awake, but she could still faintly see the concern in both his eyes and his voice. "D-Don't worry I'm fine. Don't you remember? This usually happens to me before..." She shook her head. "N-Never mind." She said with a faint laugh. This will probably be the last time that I- well, that I as Allyra, speak to him. "She was right you know, about you." Ally closed her eyes as the familiar darkness came over her senses. "I'm glad that she's found a caring friend like you... Thank you Kyouya." Ally's senses faded away as she fell backwards unconscious.

Fine? There's no way on earth you're fine ..... Before what? ... He didn't even have time to process before his fingers were rapidly blurring over the keypad and the phone was to his ear. "Ootori. I need medical assistance. Classmate. Unconscious. The Kodansha garden, by the lake. NOW."

He tossed the phone back in his pocket. Even at the rate he knew his people could arrive, it would still be a few minutes. He reached to roll her over onto her side so that her air passage wasn't blocked, and tucked his coat under her head to elevate it slightly. He touched her forehead with the back of his wrist, compared her warmth to his own -- no fever, at least, and her pulse seemed steady. If nothing else, it gave him something to do as he nervously impatiently waited for the medical team to arrive or for her to rouse.

Ari was dreaming. She couldn't place where she was or what she was doing last. Small images of people she recognized flashed in her head. Oh no... Am I sleepwalking again? She worried. No something feels different then last time... Where am I? A tiny voice in her head whispered to her. Don't worry, I'm going to take the Darkness away. Ari began to ask what the voice meant, but her thoughts faded away as the sound of a siren interrupted.

The unconscious elf breathed evenly as if sleeping.
