Delphi Was going through her spring cleaning, her hair tied up in a haphazard poof of an up do, she was busily mussing and fussing over cleaning, dusting, and re arranging furniture in her own meager home. She'd grown up in lavish luxury but when trying to keep on the down low, she found it best not to travel in absolute luxury. The small cottage was all she needed any ways.
Straightening up, she nudged the coffee table with her foot and wiped her brow of the moisture that had gathered there. Her windows were open for once, something she rarely did but it had been such a warm day it was either open the windows or stifle in the heat.
Blinking at the clerk, Lucian looked at the scribbled piece of paper, staring at it for a long moment. Shaking his head, he folded the letter and it suddenly burst into a small little flame. "Gibberish.." He mumbled under his breath, shaking the flame out. "What in the world is any of that suppose to mean?" He made sure the clerk couldn't see or hear him, of course, he wouldn't want to look bad or make him think he was trying to start a fire.
Stepping to a corner of the room, he knelt down, pulling a piece of white chalk from his pocket and scribbled a circle along with some runes. He composed a short message and sent it on its way. <"Ah, hello again. I'm sorry to disturb you.> The voice would have found its way directly to Delphi's mind. He hoped the message wouldn't scare her too badly. The ritual sent the message one way so he wouldn't be able to hear her reply. So he knew he'd have to wait to see.
The voice in her mind was a little more than she was expecting.Startled, she backed up looking around every where but backwards. "Oh!!!" She felt it first with her calves but couldn't stop herself from falling. Landing in the chair she'd backed into, she looked around. Odd.. she had heard his voice clear as a bell.. but there was no messenger.. not even a ghostly messenger.
The message had said he'd be at the hotel.. Smirking and shaking her head, she was a little glad he hadn't been there to actually see her response. Well.. she couldn't very well show up looking like something the cat drug through the mud could she? She'd have to have a shower first.
(scooby doo time warp)
Her hair was still damp when she made her way in through the entrance of the hotel to the lobby. She'd left it down mostly put pulled it back to one side with a silver hair comb. Stopping just inside the door, she looked around to see if perhaps she'd left him waiting too long and he'd gone without her.
It shouldn't have been all that much of a surprise to see him lounging about on a sofa with a glass of wine in one hand and a book in the other. He seemed rather distracted by the book and barely saw her walking in. At least, it seemed that way since he didn't take his eyes from it. "Ahhh.. so my message found you? I'm glad to see you came." His eyes still hadn't moved from the pages as he flipped one aside.
She offered a slightly lopsided smile and chuckled. "Yeah.. it took me by surprise.. caught me under an inch of dust I think.. It's amazing how much dust happened in a week there.." She walked across the floor, stopping a few feet from him. "So.. I'm sorry I kept you waiting.. I just didn't want to leave the house looking like i'd spent the day playing under a pile of soot."
Smirking, he shifted in his seat and finally shut the book. "Well, you definitely don't look like it. You look very beautiful indeed." Taking a sip, he stood to his full height. "That said, I do not understand a female's reasoning behind cleaning. You and Ana both." Shakes his head in exhaustion. "It'd be much easier to do the ritual and be done with it." To which he was referring to the Unseen Servants. "Or to at least hire someone." Though he could imagine Ana arguing with how using the ritual cost him energy which he could just as well be using on cleaning. He'd really never understand it.
She blushed full out. Her attempt hadn't been to look like she'd been trying. Sure, she often liked to do different things with her hair, but something about him noticing.. it made her blush. Not a faint pink.. but a deeper pink. "Thank you.."
Clearing her throat, she looked back at the door they'd gone through to reach their room. She had an inkling his sister would know what debauchery Lucian was up to now. Gathering her thoughts, she looked back she spoke. "So.. Where are we off to now?"
Seeing her blush, he couldn't help but grin, feeling satisfied with himself. Leaning toward her, he lifted a hand and gently brushed her cheek with the back of his fingers. "My my... red does look lovely on you."
Tilting his head toward her vision, he had a feeling she was wanting to leave rather quickly. Avoiding his sister? That actually didn't sit very well with him, but he didn't feel like poking the issue either. He hadn't thought the meeting had gone that badly. Did she really hate her already? He had wished he could have pulled Anastasia from the lab.. who knew what kind of games she was playing in there. However, he turned away and motioned toward the exit. "Ah, I just figured we could check out some more of the shops. Or perhaps since you know the town better than I, you could show me some of your favorite things?"
She looked at the door again and frowned. "Ana's not goign to come?" She looked back at him a little disappointed. She had hoped she'd get a chance to get to know the woman better. Perhaps even start a friendship with her. "Well. We could go to the museum.. There's a few things there I like to look at.. Or there's the park.. Some times they have musicians there.."
"I..." He took a breath, actually stunned for a moment. "I could get her.." He hesitated, he didn't want Delphi to see the lab. It wasn't that he was embarrassed by her, but Ana kept some very dark things there.. most of which would make grown men scream. He didn't like going in there himself. In fact, he hated the mere fact that it existed in the first place. However, he knew he couldn't remove that part of her anymore than she could stop being his sister.
She pondered over his hesitation. "If she's busy I completely understand.. I just was hoping she wasn't too set on a bad idea of me.. She really did seem like a nice person.. So I wanted to get to know her better." She gave him a truthful smile. "However, If she's tied up doing something, I wouldn't want you to disturb her on my account."
A soft chuckle came from him, though it was quick to dissolve. "Honestly, I'd prefer she wasn't doing what she was doing anyway." He said bluntly, a hint of anger in his voice. "I relish any moment to get her out of the lab.. She gets... very self destructive in there." Ah, yes.. self destructive... Though it was true in a way, it was more that he was afraid of world destruction rather than self. She could get way too happy about killing and dissecting while in there.
"I just don't think she'd be too happy about me bringing you in there. Its kind of her sanctuary. She generally doesn't even like me in there." Half truths.. yes, but still true nonetheless. "So if you're willing to wait I can go grab her."
She looked a little hopeful. "If you really wouldn't mind..." She paused on that thought remembering what he'd said about her not really liking him in her lab. "I wouldn't want you to get into any trouble with her.. I know my siblings can stay mad for quite some time when scorned."
"Ah, I'll be alright." He stated, relieved that she hadn't pressed the issue about going herself. "I've handled her before, I'm not too scared about doing it again." He gave a self assured grin before stepping through the doors they had taken for dinner the previous night. If she had been watching she could see him descend down the stairs. Standing at the door, he knocked a couple times, waiting until he saw the door swing open. He was instantly taken back by the scent of roses.. which he knew meant that Ana was hiding the real smell, and whatever else she was doing.
Stepping out, she eyed him suspeciously, "Did you need something?"
Trying to take a peek inside, he was circumvented by her moving in front of him. Shifting his gaze down toward her, "Ah, Delphi was wondering if you'd like to accompany us on a trip in town?"
Her lips turned to a frown, her eyes darting slightly. "I'm kind of busy." Her words were short and abrupt which helped confirm his thoughts.
"Nonsense!" He replied in a jovial manner, one hand clasping her back. "I'm sure you'll enjoy your time! Come, have fun!" He said this more in a statement than question, his hand beginning to push her onward.
She mused, mumbling to herself when her brother was intent on not giving her a say. "Fine.." Her tone was less than cordial as she was being forced back up and toward the door where Delphi was waiting.
She had turned her back so as not to seem nosy with the matter. What ever was going on was between the two twins in her mind. Walking around the loby, she took a seat in a comfy looking chair so as not to be left standing the whole time.
She took this moment to look around the lobby better. If the three of them continued contact, she might just might have to ward the front door to the lobby some day.. Not that she was hunted, she just knew some of her lands were better off not being anywhere near herself or any one she kept in contact with.
She'd just started thumbing through a magazine on DIY projects when she heard the door open. She listened a moment before looking up and gradually around to see if the other woman had joined them or not.
Anastasia's face was less than happy. As she walked through the door she looked as though she was a prisoner, her hands folded neatly in front of her. Lucian on the other hand, had a rather big smile, chattering happily as they walked. Ana wanted to punch him, though she kept this little fact to herself. When nearing the lobby, she curtseyed toward Delphi, her eyes gave away that she was less than sincere, however.
"Ah, sorry about the delay!" Lucian said merrily, his hand still on Anastasia's back as if keeping her there against her will. "Find anything interesting to read?" He gestured toward the magazines.
She smiled warmly at the two siblings and gave a small nod. "It's ok, and yes, I did find something interesting to read.. It's some schematics of some patio furniture and some other things... I'm kinda of a .. do it myself instead of pay others sort you could say... Some times it's more satisfying knowing you put something together with your own hands."
She gave a calculating look to the two before standing and smoothing out her own clothes. "So, shall we then?" She wondered just what had been said but wouldn't ask. That was between the two of them.
"Really?" Lucian quirked one brow and just as simultaneously Ana rolled hers. "I can't agree more, I definitely prefer to do those things myself. If you'd like maybe I can teach you some ritual magic to help make some of it faster. It is one of my talents if I do say so myself." A heavy grin appeared on his lips as he waved a hand and the doors to the outside instantly flung open. "Ladies first."
She smiled broadly. "Ritual magic to help it move along faster?" She seemed intrigued. She actually wanted to learn something other than what her family could offer to teach. "I think that might be fun some day.. to learn that is.. If you're willing." She made her way to the door, walking carefully the sound of the short heal on her knee high black leather boots making a dull clack with every step. dark blue jeans and a flowing short sleeved peasant style top had been her choice of clothes to complement the boots.
"Ah, but of course." He grinned, holding his head a little higher though he never let Ana move out of the corner of his eyes. "Who wouldn't want to learn from the best?" As they walked out the door and into the sun, he instinctively saw his sister blink back, shielding herself somewhat. He smirked and leaned down toward her, "Perhaps if you stopped living in your lab it wouldn't hurt so much." She scowled at him, giving him a look that he knew meant death.
Chuckling, he turned to Delphi. "So, any ideas on what you'd like to do today?"
"Well.." She had closed the magazine and followed after them, pulling a set of sunglasses out of her hand bag, she put them on and looked at Lucian. "There's something showing at the museum of natural history.. A gems exhibit I hear... But if that's not up your ally of fun.. Then perhaps there's always a theme park.. I'm sure you two could use a little fun, no?" Two things she'd been unaccustomed to when she first came to these lands but grew on her quickly, sunglasses and theme parks. How she'd ever lived without the use of something shielding her eyes she'd never know.. then again she had mostly been a night time being than one for the day.. and Roller coasters.. thrills and chills.. what wasn't to like?
"Museum..." The words mulled around in Anastasia's voice. Her eyes narrowed a little, as she looked up at her brother. He instantly knew what she was thinking and could sigh. "I do prefer to learn over most people's idea of 'fun'..." And well, Lucian had drug her out here, he owed her at least something more enjoyable than millions of people crowding around her.
Nodding, he gestured at his sister, "Ah well, I do believe we should probably learn more about this world and its strange inhabitant, first. At least, she'll be more manageable there." She instantly shot him a look and he just laughed.
"Play dumb all you like." She retorted in an unamused tone. "But you're not that stupid, either." Her voice was pointed as she poked him in the sternum.
She gave them both a smile and nodded. "Fair enough.. the Museum it is.." She took the lead, setting off down the sidewalk to the right. She'd gone to the museum a few times since her first arrival.. for similar reasons.. She wanted to know what she could about this strange new place and what better way to learn other than to study their histories?
"You two chose a decent location to stay actually..." She spoke as she walked. "You're in walking distance of plenty of things." She snickered more to herself about something she'd never realized. Technically everything was within walking distance.. it just took longer to get there if all you had was your feet to get around.
Ana's steps lightened, trying to put distance between her and her brother. Letting the two of them take the lead, she kept her distance, watching quietly.
"But of course, why would it not be? I chose it." He stated keeping mental note of Ana's retreat. "I had to make sure it was a fine establishment with only the finest people. Nothing else would suffice."
Anastasia huffed silently, "That's why he bought it." She pointed out, her eyes avoiding the two of them. She didn't like them being that close to each other. He had to know better than being around another girl anyway, and throwing it in her face by inviting her didn't make her any happier about the idea.
She sputtered lightly almost choking. "You bought it?? Out right? Woah.." She fell silent a moment. Compared to where she lived now.. theirs was quite the mansion indeed. It gave her more of a mental reason not to invite them over till they got better acquainted and more of friends. That is she hoped they'd be friends.. some how She was sure his sister wouldn't approve of her smaller home. Eh.. it was a place to sleep so she couldn't complain.. besides she'd picked it out.. and it had a great view of the lake drifting off into the woods in the distance.
A hint of a smile pulled at Ana's lips, though she made sure to hide it. Her plan seemed to have work, at least somewhat. "Well, do you think he'd be okay with living somewhere small?" Her statement was cruel, and she knew it, but somehow that hadn't bothered her.
"Dear Sister.. must you really be so mean.." He eyed her, stopping his feet to stare in her direction. Frowning, he turned to Delphi. "My apologies for her." He lowered his head. Letting out a breath, he nodded. "Yes. I figured that we needed a nice place to stay, Ana needed a place for her lab... She had also pointed out that we needed some businesses in the area to help continue our cash flow here."
Anastasia let out a low growl, her eyes narrowing at Lucian's chide. The girl really had no idea how rich they were, that was obvious. Had he really hidden that from her? What else was he hiding? Had he even told her that he bought that little shop they met each other in? She found it almost laughable.
She stopped and smiled all the same. "It's fine.. It was my fault for guessing without knowing too many facts." Letting out a small breath, she looked at Anna. "My apologies if my assumptions wronged you and your brother." She hadn't batted an eye, but now she knew just what she seemed to think of herself. Lucian had tried to warn her that she could seem.. possessive.. And, he'd been right. This seemed like an attempt to weed out her insecurities.
Growling under her breath, she narrowed her eyes but kept walking. As she stepped passed Lucian she felt him grab her arm. Twisting around, she hissed, "Let go of me."
"You should apologize." He stated, his eyes narrowed back at her. For once he seemed very serious and solemn, his tone even and frank.
Her telepathy entering his mind. She was enraged and it was easy to see, even if her words wouldn't reach anyone outside. Her eyes were intensely grinding into him. Despite this, she muttered a very insincere, "I'm sorry for my actions." Her voice in his head barely audible during her internal growl. She then shook off his hand and stalked passed the two of them.
Lucian's face was a mask as she stepped past. It seemed as though the happy facade he was playing at before had completely vanished. He didn't know what to do with her when she was like this. "I'm sorry." He said, his eyes not leaving Ana. Sighing, he turned to Delphi and lowered his head again. "I thank you for not going off on her. She can become... very ridged and angry at times.."
She gave a small shake of her head. "Don't worry about it.." Her voice had dropped so as not to upset the other woman further. "I was right... I shouldn't have assumed.. You had mentioned being new.. not without possession.. So think nothing of it." She gave a small chuckle. All the while she was thinking herself. If that was the worse she could dish out, then Even dealing with her aunt Jeze's mood swings was a bit of a task compared. Still, She had a feeling she should keep an eye on Ana.. and perhaps strengthen her wards.
As they wounded the corner, the saw a building set back away from the road some. In the front surrounded by a large patch of grass was a huge fig tree. "That tree's pretty old.. According to the plaque on the post by it, it's something like one of the largest in the region.." She gave a small shrug. "Actually, if it actually produces figs, I'd hate to be the one they have cleaning up under it..."
Shaking his head back and forth, "You hadn't really assumed anything, at least not incorrectly. Ana... I'm actually surprised she hadn't tried anything earlier. Rather you believe it or not.. in a way, that means she's accepted you.. at least somewhat." His voice sounded a little uncertain, or perhaps hurt. He wasn't sure why she thought he was replacing her though he knew she had a strong tendency to overreact about a lot of things. He'd have to have a talk with her later. "Most of the time she would have already tried something much worse." He was trying to lighten the mood, though he knew it wouldn't be all that comforting, regardless of how much truth there was behind his words. He was surprised that she had even let him force her out today.
When they had reached the tree, Ana had completely stopped, her eyes looking up and down. "Its a very beautiful tree.." She said, her voice quiet. Lucian nodded as he stepped up behind his sister to gaze at it. "I bet it has a lot of stories to tell." She moved toward it, letting a hand touch its bark.
She'd opened her mouth to say something, but closed it. What could she say to help? Nothing, absolutely nothing was the answer. When the two siblings stepped forward to touch the tree, she looked around. Whistling innocently, she stepped in front of the sign that said 'Please to not touch the museum's tree' so as to keep anyone from really noticing that anything was amiss.
The tree had been There for a long time. It had been planted by a member of some long forgotten missionary and bore hidden on one of the thicker limbs the initials of lovers long ago. Obviously this tree had been a meeting place to some one but their time had come and gone. It had with stood several things, had the passing of friends and families and even seen the museum and city it's self being built. The fact that it had been here for so long was why the curator of the museum had petitioned to have it stay rather than be chopped down all together.
Ana's eyes flicked toward Delphi as she hid the sign, she shook her head and rolled her eyes a little. She had little care if someone caught her or not. She was sure it'd be more trouble for them than her. Besides, she felt sorry for the old tree, it was lonely.
She stood there for a moment before finally shifting back. She made a mental promise to visit again another day before returning to the concrete they had been walking. "The poor thing." She stated out loud though to herself. Shaking her head, she began to move toward the building ahead.
Lucian watched his sister, gave the tree a touch of acknowledgement before moving away himself. Noting Delphi, he nodded a thanks. Though looking at the sign, he mumbled, "I'm not sure I'll understand the rules here. I don't believe the tree should be a prisoner. It holds no ill will toward anyone. Has it done something wrong?"
She smiled warmly. "It's not that it has done wrong or that they fear the tree will cause harm.. though I'm sure a part of it is due to insurance liabilities.. It's more the fact that they do not wish to risk having any one harm the tree further..." She turned from the tree after giving it a small nod and followed them. "There's marks on it from long ago where others carved initials into it.. The liabilities... well they don't want some one's child or they themselves climbing on it only to fall and sue the museum's pants off for their own blundering." She shook her head. "It's a rather disgraceful moment in time when you worry of if some one will take you to court for their own stupidity.."

Lucian couldn't help but blink at her words. He took a moment to consider, but ended up shaking his head. "Honestly? That sounds terrible. I don't understand why anyone would do things like that. Does no one teach respect anymore?" Looking toward his sister, he sighed. "Truly... not even Ana would do that.." "Thanks..." She huffed at the compliment. Her arms folded across her chest. She knew what he was getting at, but still.. did he have to insult her? "Sounds like a wonderful place to live in...""Sadly.. those that do are few and far between." She sighed as she walked up the stairs to the front door. "The media pretty much glorifies it.. One idiot gets away with spilling a hot beverage in their lap then suing the establishment that sold it to them and the lands go sue crazy.." She shook her head and stopped once she reached the top of the stairs and looked at the two of them. "Aside from that and a few other things.. This place has some redeeming qualities..""Really.. yet to see any." Anastasia looked to the side, her arms stretched over her stomach in a defiant stance. As Lucian passed by her she felt him kick her foot."Seriously, Dear Sister... you know how to behave." He whispered, though the look of disappointment shown clearly on his face. Turning to look at Delphi, he smiled as if nothing was wrong. "I'm sure it does," he replied. " I can think of one already." He gave her a charming grin before stepping in front and opening the door for both women. She shrugged off Ana's remark and walked into the building, flushing lightly at Lucian's words. "Ah.. you two wait here.. I'll go get us some tickets and a map and then you two can decide where you'd lick to start your surveying." She left the two behind, walking up to the counter. The museum was one of her favorite pass times when she had nothing better to do.
"Three today Clara.." She smiled at the look of astonishment from the other woman.
"Three? You have some guests with you today?" Clara looked ovbiously taken back.
"Mmhmm.. Some new friends, Though I don't think I'll need the tickets for the movie.. What's playing any ways?" She looked over a sheet of paper debating if her two guests might be interested in any of them.Lucian opened his mouth to object, but she left before he could insist. Frowning, he turned to look at Ana for help but she just shrugged. Hearing the conversation with the clerk, he realized that she had to pay to get in, he made a mental note to pay her back. He wasn't sure of the customs here, but where he was from there was no way he'd let her pay for him or Ana. Hearing Delphi's statement about the movie, Ana shifted her weight from the wall she was leaning against, "Movie?" She asked, an actual surprised, almost excited tone in her voice. "You have those here?" She asked when Delphi came into view. When Lucian looked at her in question she blushed and looked away. "Jaron... we watched a few together." As if that answered everything. She looked up from the sheet of movies and blinked. "Yes.. though these are the more educational ones, sea turtles, Dinosaurs, those sorts of things not the more entertaining thrillers or romance flicks most theaters will show.. though there is one on the cosmos if you two are interested in seeing any of them.. You're free to browse the list too.. I've got a membership here so if you want to see one let me know.. we get the movie tickets half price."
She stepped aside, motioning Ana to step forward to see for herself. Clara mean while excused herself to help a smaller party out while they made up their minds. Mean while she took out her wallet she'd had hidden in one of the pockets of her small purse and took out her membership card and debit card so as to be ready when they finally finished deciding.Tilting her head to one side, she wasn't quite sure what the other female was talking about. "Thrillers? Romance flicks?" She considered for a long moment. "The ones Jaron showed me were plays or documentaries. Do those count as thrillers?" There was a hint of confusion in her voice, however, it disappeared when Delphi mentioned the cosmos. "You have movies on the stars?!" She almost sounded like an excited school girl. "I'd love to see if I can find Izlania in relation to this current planet!" She then started mumbling some jargon under her breath about what she could find out.Lucian nodded his own approval in Ana's direction, "We were once apart of the Court of Stars. Perhaps me even more than Anastasia. I do share her enthusiasm." However, as Delphi moved to pay, he held up his hand. "Please, let me pay, it'd be my privilege." He gave her a smile. She nodded her head. "Some plays fall in lots of categories if turned into films. Comedies, thrillers.. I suppose.." She paused to think of it. "Romance.. All sorts of things." She smiled, glad to see that she was excited about something. Turning to Clara she gave a nod. "Cosmos in 3D it is Clara."
When Lucian made to protest, she was already working her own protest. "It's cheaper with my discount..." She gave him a reassuring look. "Besides.. I'd like to treat you and your sister since you both were so nice to let me have dinner with you."The ideas Ana had of movies were quite literally plays that had been recorded, but since she didn't know the different, she agreed with a polite nod. "Ohhh, I see! Seems there is a lot I still don't know about movies. What is 3D?" She peered over to the clerk to watch the exchange.Lucian's face wrinkled, disapproval in his tone, "I insist. Besides, money is of no importance to me." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a number of bills, gave them a look and shrugged. "Here, this should be plenty." He handed it over to Clara. "Make sure to get yourself something nice." He smiled at her. She couldn't argue, he hadn't even given her the chance. Shaking her head, she put her cards away. "Well... 3D is.. like seeing a movie pop out of the screen at you. Say you're watching the screen.. and a dragon soars towards you.. it looks like you could nearly reach out and touch it...It's actually fascinating." She smiled broadly.
Turning to Lucian she shook her head again. "I'll go take Ana to look at some things if you and Clara wanna talk." She watched Clara put the correct amount in the till, keeping her generous tip. Fumbling and blushing profusely, she stamped their tickets with the time of the movie and handed them over, dropping one on the counter and fumbling to get it."S-sorry..""Oh," She thought a moment. "So sort of like when you create an illusion using magic?" She watched the exchange between her brother, Clara and Delphi and couldn't help but chuckle when she saw the confused look on his face. She knew he didn't mean anything by it, but he still had a lot to learn about women. He had probably done more damage than she had, that amused her. "Sure! Have fun Lucian!""Wait." He began fumbling over words. "Did I do something wrong?" He was clearly confused as he walked toward the two of them. "I think I may have been misunderstood, I was just informing her that she should buy nicer things for herself, those uniforms are quite atrocious." He says this in a way so Clara couldn't hear, he didn't want to offend her. She shook her head an amused look on her face. "Don't worry about it.. Pretty boys should be allowed to flirt." She was a little hurt, but she wasn't about to let it show. Besides. He was a free man, could do what he wanted. "It's just her work uniform.." She didn't see the point. "She'll have to wear that regardless, Unless for some reason some one changed the owner's mind about the dress code." Turning, she smiled brightly. "Besides. I'm not sure Clara gets many tips so.. it was a nice thing you did for her, she's a sweet girl.""Boy?" He mused, a frown written on his face. "I'm a man, I assure you. Besides, I wasn't flirting.. though, if you'd like me to I could." Walking beside her, he paused and looked back over the counter. "Ah, seems I should have a talk with the manager then." Bowing slightly, "I'll be with you again shortly, Ladies." He then walked back toward Clara, stating that he'd like to see the manager. Anastasia, however, couldn't help but giggle. "He can be amusing when he gets like this."Heaving a small Sigh, she tried to stuff what was running through her mind. Envy? Over him possibly flirting with some one else? This was most unbecoming of her own nature, a fact that slightly surprised her. "He gets like this very often?" She managed to question softly. Shaking her head, she sent her hair around her before looking up the stairs. "Come on.. I think the Jewel show is up there."To the question, Ana couldn't help but grin. It was almost Cheshire-like, as if she knew exactly what was going through the other female's head. She managed to smooth out the smile before looking at Delphi, "Always." She replied. "Sometimes I think he does it on purpose.. that or he truly is a dolt when it comes to women." She let out a breath of her own. There was a reason she had become so bitter around other females. The fact that he was spending more time with Delphi hadn't made it any easier for her."I see.." She lead the way up the stairs, her brow a little furrowed in contemplation. So he really was the ladies man He seemed to protray so well.. Once at the top of the stairs, she hung a right, leading the other woman into a room that had two security guards standing at either side of the door. "This has to be it.. I've heard they have a pretty rare gem on display here..."
She was trying to busy her mind, not let it venture too long onto Ana's words. For two reasons. One she wasn't certain how much she could trust them. The other... This was uncharted territory for herself and it was admitably.. a little scary to admit to herself that she found herself a little disappointed in this new bit of information.Tilting her eyes just slightly, she watched the expression on Delphi's face. It slightly amused her, though she tried not to let it show as she hopped up the stairs, clearly in a better mood than before. "He likes to show off." She stated, pausing when she reached the top of the stairs after having passed her. As she thought about what to say, her lips twitched in a half huff, half smile. "He pisses me off with it... and he knows it." She remarked to herself, her voice quieter. "He's... made it his job to protect everyone, especially females." Letting out a sigh, she stated under her breath, "I fear the day he'll finally find someone.. and leave me.." Her voice was thin, nearly a whisper. Her good mood was now drained as she thought about this. Looking up, she eyed Delphi for a moment. Why was it exactly that her brother had invited her out? It wasn't like him to follow up a meeting with a random girl. Was she being replaced sooner than she thought? She listened to the other woman as she spoke. "Ana.." She paused her voice rather serious. She was a triplet.. she understood some of what it was like to be fearing being replaced. "He's your brother.. There will always be a place for you in his heart. Never forget that. You two will always share a special bond.. something that he will have with no other woman.. No matter how close he and that person become.. She'll never replace you.. She may join you two in your family.. make her own spot among you.. but never could she ever replace you." Her pink gem like eyes held a seriousness to them that was a wisdom all their own. "The bonds of family are strong ones.. and while we some times forget.. they still hold stronger than steel.. stronger than the hardest gem. And blood is forever.. always will be.. But. even so.. the 'implanted' member.. could always be your friend and.. in some way.. a sister."Her eyes kept its gaze on Delphi but they never faultered. Her expression was almost emotionless. Finally shifting, she shook her head, "I don't think you'll ever understand.." Regardless of how much she may have actually understood, Anastasia refused to believe it. She knew her words were hard, and uncalled for, but this woman was a threat and was already causing her more pain than she knew. She turned her back toward Delphi. "My father... you don't know what he did to me.. What he put me through... You don't understand that the hope of my brother coming home and saving me and my mother was all we had. And then.. when he did..." The last part of statement came deep into Delphi's mind. Anastasia knew the fallacy of saying it outloud where the guards could hear. As she turned back around there were tears falling from her eyes. She shifted, catching them with her sleeve. "I don't dislike you." She finally said aloud, "But I can't lose him either, even if that means you hate me."Delphi's heart sank. She felt the words, the anguish that went with them.. no.. the plead. As Ana turned around and showed the dears in her eyes, she couldn't help it. She did what she would have done for any of her two siblings. She was hurting emotionally hurting. She didn't hate the woman at all for she could understand what such an attachment could mean. Closing the gap between herself, she didn't hesitate. Lifting her arms, she embraced the other woman in a hug. She held her tight and firm in a comforting presence. "I don't hate you Ana.. You may be dificult.. But I don't hate you.. And I don't want to replace you either.. I just want to be your friend.... If you'll let me.." Her lips were close to the other woman's ear as she spoke, barely a whisper. It was calm tones, nothing to spook but all sincere.
In this distance, she could have been struck down, marked with a hex.. but so too did that mean that the other woman was vulnerable to any atacks she could deal.. Still, she didn't move to make any attack she just held her in that one hug.As the other female reached out to hug her, she instinctively backed up without realizing she was pushing herself into a corner. Her eyes were wide, and she was trying to object. As Delphi's arms wrapped around her, she went completely still and stiff, trying to think of any way to get out of it without killing her. She was sure she could get away, but not only would she have Lucian to deal with, but the local police as well. She could kill them easily enough, but she was sure that Lucian would be angry that they'd have to move and make a new start in such a weird world."Wow, you two do make a very cute couple!" Lucian stood to the side, eying them both up and down with a wide grin on his face. "I never imagined you'd go for another female, Ana." His eyes were alight with merriment as he poked fun. He then wrapped his arms around them both and gave them a squeeze. "Yep, too beautiful not to join in." The grin on his face was so large that Anastasia thought it might extend to his ears. Reaching up, she smacked him across the face. "If you ever do that again, I'll kill you!" Her eyes flared and she almost thought she saw the guards turn their attention toward them. "Ahh, a joke! I promise!" She said, holding her hands up. She watched them carefully, she did hate pretending to be defenseless.. and if they pushed it...She gave a start as she heard the voice of Lucian. When he wrapped his arms around them both she felt some how.. strange.. it was almost enjoyable being soo close.. but the fact that she was currently hugging his sister left her feeling a little strange. Clearing her throat, she straightened her outfit and stepped aside putting a little distance between the two of them and herself. Ana had made it very clear to her that she was and always would be the outsider here.
Looking to the guards, she gave them a friendly wave and smiled. "Nothing to see here.. just look out for the real dangers and not loose any gems shall we?" It was a jest of course.. but it caused the guards to stiffen at their post and mind their business all the same."Ow.. did you really need to hit that hard?" He feigned while rubbing his cheek, adding a hint of drama. "I was just stating how adorable both of my girls looked together." He flung one arm around Anastasia's shoulder and pulled her closer while doing the same to Delphi on the other side. "How can you blame me for that?" He looked up at the guards and gave them a wink. Her voice was infuriated as it came into Lucian's mind. He shrugged in response which made her flare even more. However, she did her best to not let it show. "I can blame you as much as I like." She retorted, her voice flat. Tilting her gaze over, "Perhaps, we should move on before we start more of a scene?"She stiffened under his arm, readying herself for any comments, aloud or mental from Ana. Ah.. here it was.. a dagger to plunge only deeper into her fate. It had both made her blush deep red and made her feel like the fox in a chicken coup.. and Ana was the outraged and offended hen. Clearing her throat once more, she tried to edge away and not make a scene at the same time all while finding herself pulled even closer in.
"Perhaps we could continue in.. I've been looking forward to seeing the gem show since it was announced.." Her voice was calm, passive as she spoke all while her mind reeled about trying to figure out just how this day could wind up going. Her only conclusion was that something was likely to get ugly in it.If Lucian noticed how uncomfortable she was, he didn't act it. Instead, he continued to move along with both girls under his arms looking as happily oblivious to any sort of danger. Truth was that he knew more than anyone what his sister was capable of, however, he was also aware that he could very easily stop her. "Then let's go!" His voice sounded ecstatic as he continued on through the door. Ana just growled under her breath, but continued on with the little scene. She kept quiet for a long while, pausing to see one gem after another some cut and glimmering in polished beauty and others still in their rough state. It was when they reached the back wall with a rather large crowd and a fairly decent sized case that she stalled all together. She stood rooted in her place, eyes locked on the smokey blue uncut gem inside. It was a rather large stone and one she knew all too well. The question was.. how did it make it's way here?
The shock had only stayed on her face for a few moments and she fought not to look around. If that stone was here, did that mean so too was some one from her family? Surely no one would have let it venture out so far.. Right? She made a mental note to check into this later when she had time to write her father. As they entered, Anastasia's eyes shifted back and forth, taking in all of the gems. "It's like we're in a Dwarven Hold!" She exclaimed, looking at all the glittering jewels. Her eyes finally stopped scanning when she saw Delphi pause, she nudged her brother.Lucian had been looking around much the same as Anastasia. He had let his arms drop at some point during the excursion. When his sister got his attention, he moved closer to see what it was that caught her eyes, "What is it?" He whispered, "I know that look, you recognize it." He kept his voice quiet and even, his eyes not leaving the stone. Closing her eyes, she tried to shut out the sight of the uncut gem. She was listening to the song.. a song that only she'd ever been able to hear from them. Some of her kin were like that.. It was a recessive trait picked up from her father's family. The cut gems no longer sang.. but the gems in their raw.. those still had voices and they called to her.
The smokey jewel's song pulsed and vibrated in her mind, tugging at her even more stronger, that caress that was so familiar to her. This had been the jewel given to her upon the day of her birth, her father's first gift.. It's presence here.. almost enraged her.Still, perhaps it had been sent as a reminder to her of home.. Pink eyes flared open and she leaned in carefully, mindlessly outstretching her hand as though to touch the gem. At the clearing of a guard's throat she snapped back to her own thoughts and straightened up, willing herself to pass on to another display case.Frowning when she choose not to answer him, when he realized it was pulling her toward it, he grabbed her hand. Looking back at the guards, he grinned as if that had been her intention all along. However, as he looked away his face was much more serious. "Perhaps we should leave... at least until the spell is broken." His voice hardly moved above a whisper. He squeezed her hand gently as he moved away from the display. She looked over to Lucian and gave a small nod.. "I did.. Song and sight.." It was all she said as she made her way towards the other entrance into the room. "Consider it.. my little secret for now..." She wanted to put some distance between herself and the gem.
She wasn't sure just how much to explain.. and most certainly not at the museum. "Such things are best not explained among unfriendly ears.." She paused looking at both Ana and Lucian. "Besides.." She smiled. "It's nearing lunch time.."Ana watched, knowing she could press the issue with her telepathy, however, it didn't seem that Delphi wanted to talk about it. No matter how much prodding wouldn't make the woman trust her anymore. She looked up at Lucian and nodded, motioning for them to leave the area.Lucian sighed, but agreed. He lightly squeezed Delphi's hand one last time before letting go. "Where would you like to go then? It seems we need a change of scenery." He knew Ana would agree that they could watch the movie at another time. It seemed this place was all too stifling for current company. "Well.. there is a little cafe here in the museum.. or if you'd like to scout the surrounding cafe's and get a return stamp.. we could come back for the movie.. or... I think the next showing is in a few we could always catch the movie first and then grab food.. It's up to the both of you though... I just.. needed to get out of that room.. too many gems.." She chuckled trying to shrug it off.
To some degree she had been a little reluctant to let him drop his hand from hers, though seeing as how she didn't want to make any further issues with Ana, she hadn't protested. She really had been honest when she'd told the other woman she wanted to be her friend after all.He wasn't stupid, he knew it was more than just "too many gems". However, he wasn't going to push it, she had already been through way too much as it was. Whatever that thing was, it had a complete spell over her. "It's fine.." He stated, moving silently across. That was all he said with a serious tone, after which he returned with his more jovial disposition. "How about we go somewhere else? We could all use some fresh air." His dark hair shifted from his face as he tilted to look at her. Anastasia merely nodded, her hands folded neatly in front of her. "If you like, I could always whip up something quick and we could have a picnic. Or if you prefer the cafe that's fine too." She tried to look nonchalant."How about that picnic? There's a lovely spot over looking a lake near my home.. that is if you wouldn't mind some more fresh air and less city.. You could just use my kitchen and pantry.. though I'm afraid it's nothing as lavish as what you two have.." She'd broken one comfort zone.. why not another? After all.. Hadn't she invaded Ana's space bubble without her asking? "There's even a market on the way we could get any fresh ingredients you might like there." She looked a little hopeful. A picnic in the sun on the grass out in nature.. that sounded like a really good idea."Sure!" Lucian stated enthusiastically. "It sounds like a wonderful idea, if I do say so." He clasped Ana on the back. Her eyes flinched somewhat but otherwise she made no movements. Anastasia nodded, "Sounds good." She moved away from Lucian and back toward the entrance they had come from. "I may need to go to the market, if you don't mind. Is there anything in particular you'd like to eat?" She asked, trying to avoid looking back at them when she knew Lucian was closing the gap to walk beside Delphi."Hmm... I'm not really a very picky eater.." She tapped her bottom lip in thought. "I'm sure just about anything will be most welcome Ana." She smiled at the other woman as she spoke, heading towards the exit as well. "Did we want to come back for the movie After lunch?" She hated to waste money and paying for tickets they wouldn't use.. it grated on a nerve even if Lucian had made it a point to pay...
"Oh! On the way to my place.. Before the market I'll need to make a stop by the bakery.. they have something I want there.." She mused lightly. "But it's close to the market so you two can go picnic shopping while I pick up my thing from the bakery.""Up to you." She replied, shifting in her boots. "I'm sure even if we don't go today we can at another time." That was probably the closest she'd get to saying she wouldn't mind going out again. She felt very awkward once more, keeping herself at a small distance. Lucian tilted his head to one side, half watching his sister curiously. "Are you sure you don't want us to come along?" Ana half smirked for a moment, she understood why she wouldn't want Lucian there.. he'd insist on paying. And her... well it was obvious they didn't get along. "It's a surprise for the two of you.. so.. yes." She gave a cheeky sort of look all her own. "You'll just have to wait till we've had lunch to see what I've gotten." She chuckled as she stopped at the front desk. "Clara.. We might not get to return today to see the movie after all.. Do you think you could give us an extension to another day? Maybe give us a week or so to come back?" She watched The woman open her mouth then cast a look to Lucian. With half goofy smile, she nodded and printed out three vouchers handing them over. "Thanks Clara.. I know it's not usually permitted but.. I'll make it up to you another day ok?"
With that, she closed distance on the door and Ana, handing her the vouchers. "Here, you can hang onto them till we come back." She held the other woman's gaze a moment. It was her own way of saying that to a degree.. she trusted her enough. "Now, off we go." She chuckled, glad to be away from the thing that now loomed lurking over the shadows of her mind. Still she couldn't help but to subconsciously linger close in walking with Lucian, comfort she supposed was why.. or at least that was what she was telling herself. At her statement, Lucian looked over at Clara and gave her a wink. As if on que, Ana rolled her eyes. Her brother had to play his games. Grabbing his hand, Ana pulled him away before he could do more damage, while holding the tickets with her other hand. She let go once they were out the door, letting Lucian fall more in step with Delphi. "Lead the way then."Lucian opened his mouth to object to Ana pulling him away, "Hey!" She gave him a look and he quickly shut up. Was she actually trying to help him? He fell in step, letting Delphi lead though he stayed behind her, oddly quiet. She lead the way quietly. Rounding corner after corner, she finally lead them to a bakery towards the outskirts of town that had a marketplace next door. "All right you two.. I'll meet you both right back here in say.. ten minutes? will that be enough for you two to pick out something for the picnic?" She looked from one to the other for confirmation. He followed along, keeping himself close, asking a few questions here and there about the places they passed along the way. When they reached there intended destination, he stopped, looking it over in a gesture of agreement. To her question, he half laughed, "Sure, as long as she doesn't buy half the place!" He nudged his sister in a playful manner that she definitely didn't return. "Like you have any room to talk." She retorted while shooting daggers in his direction. Moving, she grabbed Lucian's hand and nodded toward her. "We'll make it quick, as long as I can find what I need with relative ease." She then ushered Lucian off toward the stalls.Chuckling at their banter, she nodded. "Allright.. If you need help or might take a little longer just.. do that thing you guys do..." With that, she wandered off into the bakery. She was selecting something for them all to share, something different that was a nice treat. Looking over all the goodies the baker had to offer, she turned down a few of the offered ideas. Finally, she spotted just what she was looking for. Paying for it, she had them box it up for her before taking box in hand and slipping back out of the bakery to their meeting place.By the time they made it back, it looked as though Anastasia had loaded him up with multiple bags of food. He was taking it in stride compared to most, not seeming as though it bothered him at all. Usually, he would have had his Unseen Servants do it, but she bad warned him against scaring the locals with floating bags. She was even carrying a bag or two herself, though they weren't nearly as full, "I think we've found everything." She stated as they cane into view. It looked as though she might have been waiting for a little while."Sorry if it took too long, I tried to get her to hurry." He hefted a heavy bag with little effort and managed to avoid Ana's death gaze all at the same time."No not at all.. You two are perfectly fine, honest.. I had to find just what I wanted any ways." She smiled motioning both of them to follow. "Can I take one or two of those bags from you? I don't mind.." She looked at both of them, hoping she could be of help for them. "My home's not too far away.." She didn't wait for an answer, taking one of the bags piled up on Lucian before turning and leading the way to her home.
She pointed out a few things as she lead them down the road that winder further out of town. When they came to her house, she lead them up the path to the door. Stopping at the door, she balanced her load in one arm before pricking her finger on the thorn of the rose bush by the door. Waving open hand with the droplet of blood over the door, she murmured something before opening the door up. "I'm sorry if you feel a pull.. I upped my wardings a few days ago here.."He opened his mouth to object, but as she quickly took the bag he frowned, "You don't have to do that. I can easily carry everything." He looked toward Ana for help but she just shrugged. He mused and shifted the weight of the bags now that one had been removed. He stood there for a long moment, not saying a word, until he finally motioned with his hand. The bags sprang up of its own volition, flying out of not only Delphi's hand but Anastasia's as well. "Enough." He stated, much more authority in his voice. "Ladies don't carry bags, not one of them." He turned on a heel, staring at both of them to make his point before he spun and carried on, all of the bags were now floating above him where neither girl could reach. Anastasia scowled, "And now you understand how perfectly insufferable he can be..." She crossed her arms over her chest, glaring at him. She turned her eyes toward Delphi, As they came toward the house, they both immediately felt the pop of power as the entered. Ana watched curiously as she saw the p***k of blood. Ahhhh... so the girl wasn't quite as innocent as she seemed, this was an interesting development. Delphi smirked lightly as Ana's words entered her mind. She pushed the door open and entered her home. It wasn't big.. but nor was it a mouse hole of a house.. It was a two story cottage that housed decent sized rooms not the tiny little living spaces of the houses around hers. not that there were many around.. the yard had been in bloom of spring flowers that lined the stone path to the house like cheery happy greeters.
On the outside the house seemed quite normal. On the inside, the living room and entry was light and airy, clean and painted in cool blue and white tones. The furnishings comfortable and in good taste for both the room and the decor. It wasn't usual cottage furnishings but nor were they outlandish. The house had a calming airy feel about it with the exception of one door at the far end of the hall. This was her inner most sanctuary and was a dark wood with runes etched into it. To anyone just peeking through it, it was a regular bed room all be it adorned with furs and satin's in several dark blues grays and blacks. Behind a screen, she held an altar. Old habits died hard and even if she used it rarely.. she did occasionally make little offerings here to the darkness. But this was some place the two wouldn't see. Surely not for the door remained locked.
"Make yourselves comfortable. There's a bathroom in the hall, second door to the right.. and upstairs.. can't miss that one.. Ana, the kitchen's this way." She motioned for the other woman to follow her. "Lucian, you can feel free to look around after you put the bag's down.. the back porch has a nice view of the lake."

Lucian nodded and followed the women to the kitchen, putting the sacks down upon the table, "Very beautiful place." He replied, his eyes looking around at the decor. For a moment, he smirked while in thought. "I always told Ana that if we ever stopped adventuring that we'd get a cottage in the woods." His head tilted toward his sister, "I guess I should have kept my promise."
Anastasia had almost had the same thought when she saw the place, though it had been a little more extravagant than the picture in her head. However, it made her smirk just a little, if Lucian was involved it probably would have been more expensive. When she heard his voice, it made her stop, it was a long time ago, she hadn't expected him to remember. "Its fine, Lucian. Things change." Before he could reply, she turned toward Delphi and gave a sad though genuine smile, "It is beautiful, you have good taste."
She smiled gently. "I'd show you the master room.. but I'm afraid it needs to be picked up.. your brother rather caught me in the middle of house cleaning today." She chuckled lightly. She thought though that both would have been highly disappointed. "It's small.. but.. it's mine and I don't have to worry about unwanted guests popping their head around my door to badger me." She chuckled lightly. "Come on you two, lunch can wait while I show you the rest of the house that's clean.. and there's still the back porch." She motioned for the two to follow her. "I hear the old woman down the road's been thinking about selling her cottage.. Or I should say her children are moving her into a home so they'll be looking for buyers.. It's a little bigger than this place.. and on a decent plot of land.. I'll be sad to see her go.. she was such a nice old lady."
Having lived in hotel rooms (or more recently cabins on a ship) for most of her life, Anastasia was having a hard time imagining living in such a place, much less anything bigger. She oddly wondered if it was the same for her brother and if that was why he immediately jumped on taking up residence in yet another hotel. Life was hard being on the road all the time, and seeing Delphi's home made her realize how she'd never had one, she couldn't even consider the place she grew up in to be a home. She shook herself from her thoughts, a part of her longing for things she knew she couldn't have, "I'm not sure I could handle something so big." Was she chickening out now that the opportunity presented itself? Living in a hotel room really wasn't that bad anyway.. Lucian always made sure they were nice and had plenty of room.
Lucian had picked up on his sister's odd behavior. He frowned slightly, though he knew that trying to pry information from her was harder than fighting a dragon. Deciding to let it go for now, he turned toward Delphi, "Lead the way." He followed closely enough but also left some room so she wouldn't feel crowded. "It's sad news to hear." He thought about the opportunity it could present, but it made him confused that Ana didn't seem interested. "If it's as nice as you say I'm sure they'll find a good buyer."
She cast a questioning look back at Lucian as she headed up the stairs towards the two spare rooms and second floor bathroom. "I'm sure you'd adapt.." She spoke softly. "You'd be amazed how easy it can be to adapt to owning after living under some one else's roof for so long.. or on the road for that matter..." She stopped at the landing and grinned. "I'm debating what to do with these two rooms to be completely honest.. so for now they remain empty." The landing looked down upon the living room the other side leading to three doors. The center door was open, showing the bathroom done in a pallet of pale yellows, soft blues and fresh clean white. The walls were broken in half. The bottom was white pained wood paneling the upper half a pale barely noticeable yellow. the curtain that covered the window a darker yellow with tiny dark and light blue rose pattern. The tub was a large claw foot, the sink was set in what looked like an old refurbished ornate dresser and painted a very pale blue.
On either side of the bathroom were decent sized bedrooms. "The one looks out on the front of the house.. the one to the right looks out on the lake.. been thinking about having a balcony installed or something..." She gave a small shrug. "Well.. feel free to look around.." She smiled warmly to the two.
Frowning, she stopped behind as Lucian passed her. She watched Delphi for a moment, wondering if her thoughts or feelings had just been read. She was use to guarding them closely because of Lucian, so someone else reading her easily made her twitch. She decided she'd have to keep a closer reign on them. She preferred her secrets staying her own.
"Are you coming?" Lucian paused at the door to motion toward her. She slowly nodded as she came forward to take a look. After her approach, Lucian turned back toward Delphi and smiled, "Very nice. And I think a balcony would be beautiful." At the dilemma of the rooms, "They could be very useful for guests, or eventually a family, or even rooms for any hobbies." He offered.
She pondered his words a moment. "Guests would be more logical I think... I dont' for see my family visiting much.." She chuckled lightly. "After living with my sister and brother.. I'm certain they're relishing my absense.. And since I no longer travel like I use to.. I keep busy with this place.. This just means I'll need to figure out a tasteful pallet for both these rooms then." She smirked lightly. "Do you have any ideas Ana?" She was picking the other woman's brain, trying to include her some more. "The bathroom was more of a... I needed something to cheer me up day so.. it became bright and yellow.." She walked into the bedroom they had been debating a balcony for and peered out the window.
Blinking, she tilted her head forward. "I can't say I'm that good with decorating.... I tend to prefer white... something classic.. or elegant." She felt strange as she indicated her own wardrobe which was completely devoid of any color. "Lucian is a bit better at that kind of stuff than I am..." She was also very confused at how bright or yellow could cheer someone up, but she wasn't a very cheerful person so maybe that was why. It looked good, but it probably wouldn't have been her color choice.
"If you had your choice it'd probably be something dark." Lucian teased and she made a face at him. Laughing, he shrugged. "I think a pale blue would look good, personally. Or maybe velvet reds." He put a finger to his chin in thought.
She chuckled lightly. " Dark's not that bad for color choices.." She shrugged some. "But I already have my 'dark' room." She pondered the velvet idea. "That makes me think of red velvet cake.." She giggled lightly. "But I like it.. Maybe white walls.. A little red velvet drapery.. some throw pillows.. and maybe even cream or off white to break up the colors a little..." She was clearly putting the room together in her mind as she turned to look at the room. "Shall we go to the back porch then? Get a better look at the back yard and the view from there.."
"Ahh, definitely! And maybe some plush red velvet chairs and a rose motif." He nodded at himself approvingly as he pictured it. "A little light and dark would fit nicely, I think." Anastasia just rolled her eyes at him. He gave her a wide teasing kind of grin that she returned with a sigh. To Delphi's question, he nodded and tugged his sister forward in front of him. "I'd love to see it."
She smiled at the mention of a rose motif. "I guess it's no secret what flower I seem to lean towards most hmm?" She exited the room, walking down the stairs. Heading to the back of the house, she walked through the kitchen and out the french doors off the little dining nook. "Well, you like the view? I figured the picnic could be set up over on that bank." She pointed off to the side some towards the boarder of her little plot of land.
A smirk tilted his lips as he turned to follow. It had been a guess, or perhaps he just felt like emphasizing his own favorite flower. Either way, roses were elegant, and they fit the velvet and red that he was going for. Stepping behind her as they approached the doors, he nodded, "Ah, it's very beautiful." He leaned against the door frame, his eyes shifting along the lake. He stood not far from her, maybe possible to feel his very presence touching her back. "I think it looks like a good place, what do you think Ana?"
Anastasia watched the two of them, keeping her distance a few feet away. She nodded, not really feeling like she was apart of the conversation. "It looks nice." She replied, her arms folded. "Is it alright if I get started on lunch?" She was feeling very uncomfortable the closer the two of them walked beside each other, and right now she just wanted some time to herself.
Turning, she looked at Ana and nodded. "Of course! Here.. let me show you where everything's kept. There's a pitcher of Iced tea in the fridge if you get thirsty.." She moved back into the house and started opening cabenet doors and drawers to show her where everything was. "And here is the cutting boards and the strainers should you need them." She finally finished showing her where the last bit was. "Oh the trash is hidden in this little hide away.. it's not just another storage section of the cabinet." Smiling she opened the tilting door to show her before closing it.
"Do you mind if I borrow your brother for a little bit while I start taking things over to our picnic area? " She wanted to make sure that the other woman would be fine in the kitchen by herself for a little while. "I promise I won't keep him for very long."
The idea didn't make her happy, especially the way it was addressed. However, she had been expecting it since they came here. The other female hadn't exactly seemed malicious in her intention, though the intent didn't sit well with Ana either. In the end, she gave in. She supposed she should trust her brother, and well... if she couldn't she could always send her raven to spy. "I'll be alright." She started pulling out some pans.
Lucian wondered if his sister was finally growing up a little. Smiling, he motioned with his hand, "I'll leave my Unseen Servants with you so you have help." He looked off to seemingly nothing, "Help Ana in any way possible with the food." Little movements of pressure veered off toward his twin, pulling out more pans to help. He smiled and glanced up at Delphi, "Shall we?"
"Thank you." She smiled at the other woman and nodded in return to Lucian. "Sure, just let me get the blanket and an umbrella for the sun. Think we should take some cushions for comfort?" She pondered this all while heading into the front room all without waiting for any sort of a reply. She made her way to a large wooden trunk and opened it. Pulling out a rose adorned blanket, she set it aside in it's folded status and pulled out a basket. "Oh! I'd forgotten about this.. it has matching napkins to the blanket.." She laughed lightly and set it aside to take into the kitchen before they left.
Closing the trunk once more, she picked up basket and blanket and headed to a closet door. "Lucian, in this closet is a rather large umbrella.. could you get it for me? My hands are a little full.."
He followed her into the room, standing to one side as she went through the things. Shifting to one foot, he smirked slightly, "I would take whatever you need. A lady shouldn't have to carry so much." He looked at her, offering to take the items she was holding before going to pull out the umbrella.
She smirked some. "Incase you haven't noticed.. I'm not exactly a damsel in distress.. Though thank you for offering to take anything." She chuckled lightly. "So cushions.. yes or no?" She looked at him before looking at the closet. "I'll let you surprise us! if you want the cushions just grab the ones from the closet with the umbrella.. if not then just take the umbrella." With that, she headed into the kitchen and set the basket on the counter. "I found a picnic basket you could use for the food."
"No?" He tilted his head from the closet to give her a look that said he was unconvinced. "First, I never said you were a damsel in distress." He pointed out. "I merely stated that you were a lady. You are a lady, are you not?" He pulled out the umbrella along with a few cushions.
As she entered the kitchen the sounds of sizzling oil and butter could already be heard in a couple of pans. Many herbs and vegetables were sitting out in an array on the counter top as the sound of the knife cutting them with expert technique could be heard. When Delphi came in, Anastasia looked up. "Umm... alright." Came her voice as she continued to dice some green onions.
She returned to the front room. "Well.. I am.. but.. I've tried to become... self efficient and independent... When you leave court without so much as a servant.. you more or less have to learn to fend for yourself." She paused a moment. She'd let something slip.. Council or not.. the fact of the matter was that her family was part of the demonic high court. "Come on.. we should get out there and start setting up.. other wise Ana will be done and we'll have nothing prepared for her."
His nose wrinkled in distaste. "I suppose you could say we left without servants... so I made my own. Regardless, as long as I'm around I'll insist you be treated as they lady you are." He seriously doubted his sister would be done in any decent amount of time, but it was obvious that she was trying to derail the current conversation so he let it go. "I will follow behind, I don't want to accidentally hit you with the umbrella."
Nodding, she made her way through the kitchen. Pushing open the french doors, she left the house and made her way towards the spot she had pointed out. Opening the blanket, she gave it a quick snap that sent it opening and unfolding as she worked it. She smoothed the blanket on the grass and stepped back to admire her handy work. It seemed like ages since she'd last used it.
Lucian couldn't help but notice the look his sister gave him as they passed. He just grinned at her and she rolled her eyes. He followed along and untethered the umbrella, pushing the mechanism until it locked in place. He set it up in a place that gave them the most shade before placing the pillows in convenient places. He looked off toward the sky for a moment, "Can I ask you something personal? You don't have to answer if it's too forward or not the right time. I know we don't exactly know each other very well yet."
She looked at him rather puzzled for a moment. "Sure, ask away." She smiled a genuine sincere smile that only continued into her eyes. "I'm not exactly too much of a closed book.." She followed his gaze to the sky as she spoke.
She quietly wondered what was on his mind. Likely one of those random questions she'd heard some guys offer their lady accomplices in cafe's. Information diggers she called those topics.
He turned to look at her, "I know it's none of my business.. But why did you come here of all places? This world still has me puzzled. It's not a bad place, but I definitely wouldn't put it among my first choice." He moved to sit on one off the cushions. "I feel like I'm cheating my sister somehow.. She's been trying to come up with a way to leave.. and I've been stalling..." He let his voice trail off. He didn't want to say that he was doing so because of her, however, in a way he was asking if there was something about this world that she knew that he didn't. A way to keep his sister from forcing their return.
She pondered the thought a moment. "Tricky question... I suppose I left my home lands to pursue a life where I wasn't always known as the niece of my uncle.. daughter to my mother. That's not to say that they're bad people..I just wanted something different from my life other than to have things dictated for me."
Her gaze shifted out to the lake some. "This land.. It's different.. No matter who.. or what you are.. I've come to learn that what you are makes no difference.. You can make what ever kind of life for yourself you want. What ever your back ground you don't have to adhere to stereo types if you don't want." She looked back at him and smiled softly. "You know.. The day we met.. I was feeling a little home sick actually.. Was debating going back if nothing more than for a visit.. But.. meeting you and Ana.. It reminded me why I left... I wanted the opportunity to meet new people.. to get out and.. have my own adventure and as normal life as I possibly could.. I hope that answers your question..."
She took her own seat on a cushion. "I've seen what passes for demonic in this world find love among the angelic.. If that can happen here.. There's no telling what other wonders await.. but I'm willing to stick it out..." Her gaze lingered just a little longer than it likely should have as she trailed off. He'd been her reasoning for staying.. for not just picking up a souvenir for her cousins and returning home.. But he was also right. They didn't know each other very long.. and there were still darker things about herself she was sure he wouldn't like about her.. a fact that left her feeling a little insecure for a change. Not to mention Ana was now alone in her house.. Hopefully she wouldn't be doing any poking around.. Not that she didn't have certain things.... under more than lock and key.
He considered for a long moment, listening to her speak while he kept his eyes on some roaming clouds. He wasn't quite sure how to address what she had told him. He supposed in a general manner that he could understand how someone may not want to be associated with a family member, but in reality that wasn't something that had ever crossed his mind. Even though his father wasn't a very good individual, he had no problem using his father's name to get him further in life. However, if Delphi wanted to get by on her own merit, who was he to say otherwise?
"This world seems... to stifle individuals though." He replied, unconvinced. "If this is a world where someone can sue for nothing, or make others feel so.. little.. Than why would anyone want to live here? Where I'm from anyone can take up a sword and make a name for themselves. They can become something more. They can become kings if they'd like, saviors or even become hand picked by their deity. It doesn't seem the same here."
He twisted in his seat. His eyes narrowing as she continued. "Blasphemy. Do angels and demons really mingle that much here?" He considered this for a while, chewing his lower lip. "Does good and evil mean that little? Or perhaps.." He frowned, sighing. "Angels and demons do not mean the same here as they do in my world... I suppose it would make sense since nothing else is the same here either.." He put a hand to his chin in thought.
He soon realized he was sounding rather harsh. He knew that in this world he needed to temper himself better. There was so very little that he knew and to jump to conclusions would cause more harm than good. He was completely out of his element. "I... I'm sorry.." He stood to his feet. "I'm so use to everything being black and white.. I guess you could say I'm confused by this world and its customs..." His eyes met hers, however, he felt so ashamed he looked away. He drew in a breath, "I am glad that our presence has meant something to someone.. however..."
"I think.. that perhaps some times it's best to jump right in and see how you fair..then again.. Some times it's not so easy. This world is very gray... not so much black and white.. I suppose that's part of it's allure.." She chuckled lightly. "Yes.. some sue for no reason.. but.. there are reasons that they do so legitly.. I'm sorry If I didn't paint a very good picture of the place.. but.. I'm sure no matter where you go there is and will be corruption.. It's just the means to uprooting are more... behind the scenes and covert than they are else where.. Back home.. If some one was over stepping their boundaries or using their power for corrupt reasons.. My uncle would go in and slaughter them.. Wipe the wretch from existence and be done with it.. Here.. things are done more.. delicately.. You can make your own lives, fortunes though I'm not sure you could make a kingdom.. an empire.. in a sense.. but not an actual kingdom.. you can start at the bottom, and work your way to the top."
Leaning backwards, she sprawled out in the grass. Her pale hair surrounded her head like a fan. Looking back at the sky, she drew in a small breath. "You two should try to give this place a chance.. maybe you'll see a bit of it's charm.. I'd be lying if I said that should you two leave.. you wouldn't be missed. I've certainly enjoyed having you two to talk to, even if Ana seems to think I'm trying to steal you from her.." She said the last matter of factually.
"Ana..." He drew out a deep sigh, his eyes distant. "I worry about her." He sat back down, folding his knees inward. He turned to look at her, noting how beautiful she looked laying there like that. A part of him wanted to join her and pull her into his arms, but he was vaguely aware of the little bird that was hiding among the trees. He didn't need to give his sister more of a reason to go after her.
"Pardon my bluntness..." He chewed his lip, shifting his head in the other direction again. "But I think its kind of obvious about her unhealthy obsession. I understand where she is coming from, but sometimes I worry that she won't try to find happiness. Maybe that's the reason I feel so terrible for not searching as hard as she does about finding a way back. I know she misses Jaron. And for the first time it seemed as though she was actually moving forward with her life. Now.. she's back to square one." He shook his head, a frown written deep on his face. "And I'm not sure that without something for her to hold onto, that she'll make it in this world..."
"Jaron?" She rolled towards him, propping herself on an elbow. The question was written plane on her face. "It was the movie wasn't it.. I'm terribly sorry if I've sent her into a setback.. You know.. I really like Ana.. she's an interesting sort.. quiet.. but.. if you get past her quiet.. brooding facade...she's quite nice. I'd like to become her friend hopefully.." She chuckled lightly, her nose scrunching in a cute mousy sort of way. Her eyes took notice of the little bird hiding. "I think.. in time.. your sister could possibly find some one..I'm no oracle or seeress.. that's my aunts.." She chuckled once more.. "But.. I have faith that in time.. anything is capable of happening."
His head shook back and forth, his hair swinging. He ran his hand through his mane, combing some behind his ears. "Her boyfriend. Or was, before we came here. I'm actually surprised he didn't find a way to join us. He's a crafty sort.. probably not the best influence on her." His teeth gritted somewhat at the thought. "However... she.. softened somewhat when around him, oddly enough." He fell back against the blanket with enough force it would have looked like he was pushed if someone was close enough to do so.
"Don't get me the wrong way... I'm not saying it couldn't happen.. But I've never known Ana to have friends. Even being apart of the Seelie courts, I don't think she's managed even a single confidant there." He continued to look toward the sky. "She.. refuses... She hates the world too much." Looking back toward her, he noted the cute little look on her face and reached up, poking her nose softly. "But maybe... Jaron has done more good for her than I thought.. I have seen her be a lot nicer to you than I have ever seen her be to another girl before. Maybe there is some hope."
She stuck her tongue out at him when he poked her nose. "I've found that the world will always find hope for anything... little duck.." She chuckled lightly. "Some times it just takes some one to make the first step of faith and good will.. I guess in this way I am more my father than my mother.. I cannot hate the world.. though I might hate things that happens in it.. Not everything is to bear blame for a small part.." She had to wonder just how dark Ana was.. sure she smelled of death.. she noticed the scent when she had joined them for dinner that first night. If he could accept Ana's darkness.. Maybe he could possibly accept hers? She frowned as she thought of that. It was a risky thing.. How did one even mention something like that? The fact was it wasn't a topic for so soon especially among friends.. "My friend.. our conversation has turned so very serious I think.." She chuckled brightly again. "I fear I bore you with my answers.." Rolling to rest on her stomach, she kicked her feet up to rest in the air, crossed at the ankles. "Aside from what you've already told me.. What was your home like?? I don't mean where you were born but.. the other parts of it.."
He mused, his pale blue eyes deep in thought. He closed them, images rushing through his head until he opened them again. "I wish she could see that.." He shook his head, tears almost brimming his eyes. "Its my fault I wasn't there to save her." His hands clutched into fists at his side but he kept his anger otherwise in check. "If I had... maybe she wouldn't be the way she is.." His voice trailed off, more a statement to himself than her. Noting her reluctance to get even further into the darker tone of the conversation, he nodded. He drew in a deep breath, refocusing his eyes upon her.
"No.. you're not boring me." He stated to her implied question. Lifting his hand, he moved it to gently drag his fingers against her cheek. He made sure that the raven couldn't see from its angle.. but he couldn't help himself, she looked so damn beautiful.
Shifting, he moved his weight upon his elbow, his hand drifting from her face back to his side. "I'm not really sure there is much more to tell. It was hell.." He said, a hestancy to his voice. "Probably more for Anastasia than for me. At least.. I was preened for a long time, meant to be the heir to my father's fortune. Only the best servants and tutors until I came of age enough for private school." He was distant at the thought. "I wasn't aware of everything that went on there until long after we left.. I'm not even sure Ana has told me everything. It was.. so very long ago.. I don't like to give it much thought anymore."
She closed her eyes as he stroked her cheek. She wanted to rest her cheek in his hand, let the warmth from his hand linger. As he drew his hand away, her eyes opened once more. "Hell..." He voice was soft as she repeated the word. Her smile was a little bitter sweet as she spoke next. "Sounds like your world's version of hell and mine are far different from one another.." She frowned some. "Your father... She told me what became of him.. at the museum.." It didn't bother her.. Her own mother had slaughtered her grandparents after all.
To her statment he almost laughed, "My home... is nothing compared to hell. I might compare the two, because in a way it was.. to us.. But hell.. really isn't something to joke about. Where I come from there are nine layers of hell, each one too terrible to imagine." His voice was hard, but his eyes were still distant as he spoke."What is it like where you are from?" He was slightly curious, though he couldn't imagine hell being anything but what it was where he came from.
"Did she tell you why?" His eyes held more purpose as he said this, no longer thinking but more focused. His hands were clutched again as he brought himself back to a sitting position. His lips were hardlined, thin and full of anger. "He killed her.." He said without waiting for her to answer. "..Our mother.. he killed her... right in front of Ana.. He beat her until she bled out..." His knuckles were now gripped so tight they were turning white. "Had I not heard her... had our magic not tied us to one another.. He might have killed her too.." His jaw was tight as he spoke.
There it was.. the question that could do her asunder. "You say you grew up in a place like hell.." She paused long and hard. "The land I'm from.. Well we only have one hell.. the under dark.. The demonic realm." She looked down at the blanket. For the first time she actually felt ashamed of the other half of her blood. "I grew up in the under dark.." Her voice was soft almost inaudible. "My uncle is.. Lucifer.. the Lucifer... My world.. Some myths are not myths at all.. and well.. Angles, Demons.. they're very real.. but not at all what most expect.. Uncle Luci.. while he has his dark side.. he's just a man like any other inside.."
She looked up as he mentioned just why Ana had killed their father. "No.. she hadn't that I recall.." She watched him long and hard. "I'm sorry.. That she had to endear such a thing..I can't imagine What seeing your mother die would be like.. "
Frowning, he leaned back, his arms crossing over his chest. He felt the hair on his arms raise, he watched her, his eyes a little less soft than before. "The Underdark.." That word meant something very different in his world, and it was for that reason that he hadn't gone completely postal at her confession. "Our Underdark is the place of Drow.. and Undead.. Abhorrant creatures.. But not demons.." He was trying to keep his tone even but there was a part of him that wanted to rage. Despite knowing that Delphi wasn't anything like the creatures he had come to know as demons, there was a part of him that instantly screamed out to purify her. He was trying his best to keep that part of him under control. "In my world.. we'd call Lucifer.. Or whom we call Asmodeus.. as a devil, not demon." He drew in a breath, trying to relax himself, trying to assure himself that her definition of demon was far different than his own. "Devils.. while evil.. pure evil.. can be reasoned and worked with, within reason... Demons are nothing but chaos and malice... pure destruction and torture. They would wipe out everything in my world if given even a second's chance. So excuse me if I seem... a little on edge..." He frowned while he thought about it. "Some of the last remaining angels on the main plate of our world spend their lives keeping the gates so that the demons can't take over. The demons have almost all but won." At his own statement he wondered exactly what a SwordDancer would do if they had known or had been told what he was just told. Then it dawned on him and he half laughed, Azrael would probably forgive her. So why was there a part of him that couldn't put it aside? Still, he softened somewhat when he remembered what a redeemer sort that Azrael really was. Besides, was he not talking to someone who would be considered a devil in his world, not a demon?
Visibly shifting, he tried to ease himself somewhat, knowing that some of his rage was coming from the previous on-going conversation about his mother. "Like I said.. there are things that she still keeps from me.. And much worse things that I know happened. Her life there.. it's what has bred her to be the way she is.."
She felt herself still, shrink back some at his reaction. "We are demons, fallen angles and devils.. or in my case.. demon and yet not.. I'm only half.. but after my mother slaughtered my father's parents for an unforgivable offence upon him.. I was kept from learning about that land till I left to make my own way.." She held her eyes on the blanket, down cast and unable to meet his gaze. Visibly she wasn't a very tall woman at all and even seemed to shrink further. "The museum.. the stone.. was mine, is mine.. Possibly sent by my family as a reminder.. at least that would be the brighter thought of it.. I hear the songs in stones.. Not a spell.. though I suppose it makes me look spell bound.. Even now.. the gems in the earth below, nestled in their warm holds within the earth... I hear them sing.. It's part of why I chose this place to have a house.."
His eyes were still somewhat calculating and cold. His arms were over his chest, clung hard to keep himself from doing anything too rash. He tried to imagine her being born from Glyssa or any of her siblings and he couldn't even think it. She didn't feel nor seem anywhere near that blood thirsty or cruel. "Am I wrong to assume your family.. your home... isn't anywhere near as evil as the demons I know?" His head cocked to one side to watch her. "I.. I can't bring myself to believe that you're pure evil.. not one part of you.. even if only half." There was hesitation in his voice, uncertainty. It wasn't that he wasn't interested in the other part of her either, but he had to get the first part squared away before he could even start to try to think of the other.
"Dark.. cold, and brutal when crossed.. maybe some of us even a bit narcissistic.. bot not evil in the sense that most seem to point out.. Power hungry.. but we hold family values, feel love and compassion. My aunt.. one of the last wolf demons in my world.. she's as nice as they come.. sweet even.. but when push comes to shove and she needs to protect those she cares for.. she's as vicious as ever." She frowned as she finally looked up at him.
She could see he was having difficulties with this. " So to answer you.. No.. We're not as purely chaotically evil as most worlds seem to label us..." Her eyes flicked towards the bird. This was all most definitely being let to the bird's mistress no doubt Ana was having a laugh.
He drew in a deep breath that he knew had been locked away since she first spoke about her mother's side of the family. His hand was rubbing at his temple as if trying to alleviate a headache that was forming. "I'm not saying I'm not guilty of this myself, but you are assuming that all demons are the same in your world as they are in others. There are reasons that demons are labeled what they are.. regardless of how true it is where you come from. Not all demons are as... reasonable." He was trying to think of a better word but wasn't sure he could come up with one without offending her. Sighing, he mulled over his words carefully. "I know that what I say might hurt you, but... the truth remains that in my world demons are thus, and carelessly believing that its just a facade put upon them can be foolish. I have seen what they can do with my own eyes... what they are..."
He twitched, letting his guard fall as he eased into a more comfortable position. "That aside.." He began, his eyes now softer as he regarded her. "It doesn't sound like your family is anything like the Asmodeus I know, regardless of who your uncle may be in your world. Maybe misguided in some ways, but that is different than being evil." He shook his head at himself, knowing that in a way he was being a hypocrite. If she truly knew who and what Anastasia was.. than he knew she'd call him out on it. Then why was it okay for his sister and not her? Because he still held on to some belief that there was a part of his sister who was good? And how much of that was a lie that he was telling himself?
Anastasia did continue to watch the whole scene from the eyes of the raven. However, had she known the thoughts that were going through Delphi's head she would have been sick. She most definitely wasn't laughing and wouldn't have dreamed of doing so in the said situation.
She sat up, hugging her knees to her chest and resting her chin upon them. "I know... that not all worlds are the same with their.... inhabitants.. I can only give an explanation of what we are where we're from.. Demons.. and half demons.. have been known to be captured and sold off into slavery if not able to fend for themselves. The lesser houses.. they have it worse.. the higher in the arristorcatical society.. the less you fear of it... Once your house falls, you start to worry of raids and keep from venturing out from hell.. The surface worlders can be cruel.. or accepting of what we are.. So.. it's not like we're all peachy keen with one another.. there are some of us who are quite bitter and resentful of the way we're treated leading to other such issues.. the discriminatory line can be a rough one to ignore.."
She took a small breath, letting it out slowly as she thought. "If.. if my half blood is something you cannot over look.. then let me know.." Bowing her head, she rested her forehead against her knees allowing her hair to serve as a curtain between them. "Though I hope it's something that can eventually be worked out.. I understand if it's something you cannot.. I just.. " She paused.. she idn't want to finished the sentence.. what good was it? To say what? That she didn't want her demonic blood to be an issue because she thought possibly that she could be starting to care for him? Wasn't that an absurd notion giving that this was only their second meeting? After the cat was let out of this bag she was starting to be certain that maybe this would be their last too. Well, one bright side.. Ana wouldn't have to worry about loosing him, right? The smile that formed at this thought was bitter sweet.
He wasn't quite sure he could believe the story she was painting. Demons being the victims? He frowned at that thought, knowing it was far different than any demon from his world. It wasn't something he could fathom mentally. "Okay.." He threw his hands up, exasperated. "Bare with me please.." His eyes were distant, deep in thought. He didn't want to offend her, but he couldn't process everything she was telling him, either. "I need..." He heaved his shoulders, feeling almost defeated. "I need a moment. I need to.. come up with something.." He was struggling for words that wouldn't offend her. "I can't continue to call you.. or your race... demons.." He chewed his lip, his hands now resting in his lap. "..Because... in my world... they wouldn't be. I know that might offend you.. and I'm not saying you shouldn't be proud of who you are.. But I can't... I can't call you that. In my world it means too much evil.. too many terrible things.. And I can't associate that with you." He hoped she understood what he was saying without getting in an outrage that he was taking away from who she was. He was worried that she wouldn't though.. but he couldn't in good conscious call her something that meant so much death...
She actually flinched trying to make herself that much smaller. Slowly, carefully she chanced a glance. One pink eye peered out at him. "Would it be better if you just referred to me as one of the darkling throng?" Her voice had been quiet as she spoke. "Or.. just call us.. the fallen.." She shrug some. It was generally a racial slur saved for her kind in her world. "If it makes it easier for you to process.. I don't mind.. It's hard to imagine something one way when you've known something totally different your whole life.. just be thankful you two weren't of our court before my aunt Hebs came about.." She shuddered at the thought "Things were... gravely different.."
He looked at her, his face softer but also somber at the same time. "I'm sorry... I really am." He shifted, knowing he had hurt her more than he had ever wanted to. His long hair drifted into his face as a wind blew by. "I didn't meant to hurt you." His words were quiet enough that Ana couldn't pick it up from where her bird sat in the tree. "Which would you prefer I referred to your race as?" At the question, he never looked up, his face still shrouded by his hair. He wasn't sure how to explain to her what the word evoked in his head and why he couldn't call her that. He thought her much too sweet, much too beautiful to put something so evil to her name, but he couldn't tell her that.
It wasn't much different than how he viewed his sister, there was a part of him who longed to keep her innocent in his mind, despite how he knew her tendencies were anything but. It was still different though, he couldn't dare even think of Delphi doing anything so... dark.. evil... twisted. He wanted to keep her precious in his mind. "If you want me to leave.. I will." He didn't want to, but he knew he had crossed a line. He'd accept whatever punishment she deemed acceptable for his crime.
She was hurt, yes.. but she couldn't hold it against him. How could she? They were from literally two different worlds. Worlds who had most certainly two very different ideas of what her race was. "Would it make it easier to call us.. Fiends?" It was a lighter used word, one that had many more meanings than just evil and mischief.
It was when he was asking if she wanted him to leave that she finally looked up fully. Her cheeks were tear stained. Having perfected the ability to cry silently long ago to keep her siblings from worrying over her when they were children. Without thinking, she flung herself at him, catching hold of him in a hug. "Don't.. I know .. You're idea is just.. it's not the same of what we are.. I understand.. It would be like me hearing that you were a.. collector.. it's apples and oranges.. And I'm not angry.. Hurt.. a little.. but.. I don't want you to leave.. not on unfriendly terms.."
"Fiends..." He didn't like that term much better. It was still something that placed a very negative tone on her. His head was starting to hurt. All of this was playing way too much on his emotions, something he didn't like to think about, much less talk about, in the first place. "If... its easier..." He said quietly, still not sure how much he liked this idea either, but if it worked perhaps it could be a compromise. "To preserve what you are.. and still help me to.. deal with it better... If its okay.. I could call your kind.. Daemons..? Difference of pronounciation mostly.. but if it can paint a different picture in my head.."
When he heard her start to cry, his head tilted upward through his hair. He frowned, mentally kicking himself for everything he had done. He moved himself closer to her and instantly wrapped his arms around her as if it had been his own idea. He cradled her, letting his hand drift through her hair in comforting motions. "I'm so sorry.." He repeated this over and over again, his voice calm and soothing. He knew he'd have hell to pay from Ana, but dammit, he couldn't handle a girl crying.. "I won't leave then.. I'll stay.. right here..." He reassured her, keeping her tight in his arms.
Feeling him comfort her in return, She allowed herself to sob lightly a little while longer. Once she was cried out, she was quiet a long while. Finally wiping away what cold tears were left, she looked up at him, the angle was enough for her to get a slight view of his face but not fully. "Daemons?" She rolled the wod over him her mind for a moment before finally nodding with a small smile. "I think.. I like it more.. It's different.. yet sounds similar... Like the seperate factions of fae courts..." She mused lightly. She had a moment to wonder hos the flelves would take this analagy but shrugged it off. It didn't matter.
Still, she didn't move from her secure location. She felt oddly safe and comfortable like this. Nothing seemed to matter nearly as much. Not the misunderstanding over one word.. not just what his ideas of demons were.. not even that raven in the tree... "The raven.." She squeezed her eyes shut tight as her thought was audible. "I'm sorry..." Hastily she looked around for the bird, still not moving as though she might shrink all together and become invisible.. though she knew she couldn't meld into him and hide....What was done.. was done...
He continued to hold her, stroking her hair softly. Smiling softly, he shifted some of the hair from her face, letting his eyes meet hers. He let his hand briefly brush her cheek, removing the tears. "I'm glad you're okay with it." Leaning over her, he let his head fall, brushing his lips against her forehead. He kept his hand against her cheek, tilting her head up slightly once more to meet his gaze. He wasn't thinking about the raven or his sister in the least, even despite Delphi's current distress. That said, he should have been.
In an instant, a flash of light and dark was seen just to the side of them. Anastasia's white form had appeared out of no where, her eyes furious in rage. It had taken her much longer than she had wanted to get to the hill that they had been sitting in. She had even had to forgo another dish she had planned to get there before more happened. "Lucian!" She grabbed his arm, yanking it away from his embrace with Delphi.
His head turned to look at her, his eyes were serious and seemed to hold no remorse. It would have taken Anastasia much more strength than she had to forcibly remove him if he hadn't allowed it. Despite the fact that he seemed ridged at her sudden appearance, his mood quickly changed when his pale eyes met hers. "Ahh! Ana!" His face turned to a grin as he stood to his feet. "I guess that means dinner is ready then?" As if on cue trays of food were being carried and arrived behind Ana as if floating on air.
She mused, her eyes narrowing as she chewed the inside of her cheeks though she didn't speak. Her eyes were glued on Delphi for a time, almost as if a warning. "Yes.." She straightened some wrinkles out of her dress as if nothing had been upsetting her just a moment before. "I hope you guys like it." As the servants put the tray down it was an array of nine horderves, "Buffalo Chicken Meatballs, Pretzel Pizza Rolls, Feta, Ricotta Spinach Rolls, Spicy Asian Meatballs, Cranberry Feta Pinwheels, Avacodo and Goat cheese Crostinis, Stuffed Mushrooms, Pineapple and Beef Screwers and Spicy Thai Pineapple Wraps." She motioned and each one of the plates were brought up and placed in front of them.
She met the other woman's gaze. Ah the warning... She had a moment to feel a bit of remorse. Her cheeks still were flushed with a blush from the touch of his lips. It had been an intimate gesture. Whether he knew it or not, to her it had meant more than just the comfort among friends.
She cleared her throat, reluctantly leaving the nestled spot she had been in. Her eyes held something a little more defiant. She wasn't sorry. She was and yet still... she wasn't. She couldn't and wouldn't feel shame in what had happened.
As if on que, she stood up. "I forgot my surprise in the kitchen. I should go get it before we start.. Unless one of those phantasmal servants would be so kind..." She started to leave. She figured they would need a little bit of time to talk any ways and at least with her at the house, they could till she returned. Tonight no doubt she'd triple her wards.

Lucian held up a hand before Delphi turned to leave. "Lizzy, if you would, please retrieve the surprise." His voice was more authoritive as he looked between each of the girls. He understood what was happening, and he wasn't at all amused. "Ana, Delphi.. sit down." He wasn't taking no for an answer as he looked at each of them. He was sitting on one of the cushions, his legs crossed with his arms across his chest. Anastasia frowned, looking from Delphi to her brother before she finally and reluctantly sat on the cushion beside her brother. She almost seemed like a subservient creature obeying its master, though she tried very hard to not make it seem thus. "Lucian.." She began, reaching for his hand."Enough." He said, his eyes hard. She immediately squeaked, her hands curling in toward herself as if she were bit. "Now.." He looked up toward Delphi this time. "My sister has prepared this meal, for both of us. Regardless of any animosity between the two of you, I personally know that means a lot coming from her. So please, eat." His voice seemed to lose some of its harsh tone at the end. He smiled and moved to grab a few of the skewers and began to merrily eat as if nothing else had mattered. Sitting, she looked to the food quietly. This was childish. Uterly and stupidly childish. Sighing, she picked up a plats and began to dish herself up a few of the items. "Thank you Ana, it smells wonderful." She was trying to put what had happened behind them. To let bygones be bygones.
She was still daughter to her mother and By deities dark and high, she would act thusly. Her mother wouldn't scamper off and cower. Her mother after all would have been quite bold in the matter and likely flaunted the ordeal.. but that was her mother.. not her. She was still so very much like her father in things it was almost laughable.
Smiling, she nibbled in silence, looking out over the lake as a warm merry spring breeze picked up and played among them. It sent her hair fluttering about as though it had been a friendly reminder from some unseen friend that She should be happy not angry or sad. Lucian continued to eat, though he noted that Ana was only picking at her food. He sighed, rolling his eyes slightly. He picked up one of the meatballs and shoved it into her mouth. Laughing, she choked slightly, her eyes wide at him, "If you don't eat, I'll do more." He threatened, his eyes narrowing in merriment. "The two of you can't continue this Cold War." She frowned, shaking her head slightly. As she turned to move, he grabbed her arm, holding her in her position. "Ana.. really..? Stay, enjoy the food you've cooked." He made her sit back down though as she did he realized the silence wasn't getting any better. Sighing again, he looked over at Delphi for help. He picked up some more of the food, taking another bite. Girls... he didn't understand them... not one bit. It wasn't long afterwards that he felt the magical pressure when his Unseen Servant appeared carrying the bag that held whatever it was that Delphi had bought. "Ahh, thank you Lizzy!" He patted the Unseen Servant's head and then took the bag and handed it to Delphi. "Ana, I'd like you to stay, really I would." She smiled warmly and took the bag from Lucian and set it aside. Picking up some of the pinwheels, she ate, wiggling a little in her seat. It was delicious. She had to admit, Ana could cook very well. Perhaps if they could put this behind them and become friends after all, she would ask Ana for some tips.
"So, I owe you both an explanation of why I was... un-nerved at the Museum.. The smokey gem.. I've already explained it was mine.. What it's doing here how ever.. Is beyond me." She was trying to move past the awkward silence and start the conversation a new. "I already explained to your brother that jewels call to me in their raw.. Only their raw state to they sing..." She closed her eyes and listened to the happy melodies below them. Carefully she opened her eyes once more. "The question now is.. Why is it here.. and how did it get here."Anastasia felt very uneasy as she sat there, still trying to clear her throat from the food that was shoved in. She picked at some of the food more, but wasn't making much of an effort to eat beyond that. Her stomach felt ill and lurked several times. Staying quiet wasn't something she'd usually do, but she was trying to show Lucian she could behave.. then maybe.. She shook her head at herself. She felt tears forming at the brim of her eyes, but she kept them back. She was an idiot and she knew it. A part of her just wanted to end it and torch the entire place with Delphi inside. Sure, Lucian would be mad, but he'd forget in time...
It was at that moment that she felt Lucian's hand on her shoulder. She blinked, looking up. "It'll be okay.." He whispered where only she could hear. This made her frown and she knew that there was no way he'd forgive her if she did something. Why the girl held his interest she had no idea.. but it was obvious.. she was being replaced.Lucian listened to the explanation while pulling a toothpick from his mouth and having one of his servants safely dispose of it. "Any ideas on why?" He asked. He wasn't sure how much help he could be knowing as little as he did about the other side of her. Fairy dragons weren't exactly numerous in his world, and even then it was possible they were nothing the same. "Could your family have sent it here?" He was searching for clues. "It's possible.. But until I can make contact with my father.. I won't know for certain. With something like this.. usually a note would have arrived before hand.. To make certain that I knew to watch for it.. Being my jewel.. it's only proper. The only alternative is that some one stole it and brought it here.." Her pink eyes flares with a slight glow all their own. "Being able to hear the songs of gems isn't quite common among my father's kin.. It's rare in fact.. Much like..." She searched for a rarity among humans that would explain it better. "Much like some one having one eye blue and the other green. Among humans it's almost unheard of but there are those that posses the trait all the same. "
Sighing, she could feel her blood beginning to boil. Touching a dragon's hoard of any kind usually meant bad things to the offender. Touching and stealing meant worse. Her father was usually a very kind person.. but she knew her own darkness. What that darkness was capable of gave her cause to shudder and check her emotions with busying herself. Setting her plate down, she reached into the bag pulling out the box inside. Opening the box, she set down the strange looking cake. "It's monkey bread coffee cake.. though I don't happen to have any coffee brewed.. it's good without it.. It's one of my favorite treats.. so I thought I'd share some with you.. As a token of friendship.. I hope you will.. Share some that is..." Pulling one of the round pieces from the mound, she plucked it into her mouth as she thought. Still her mind came to but one conclusion.. it had to have been swiped..He wasn't sure what to say, he wasn't entirely sure what it meant. However, he could tell it was something that meant a lot to her and whatever the story was there was definitely more that she wasn't saying. "I see.." Was what he had managed to mutter. "If there is anything that Ana or I can do to help, let us know." He frowned, not sure why someone would steal something like that. It definitely seemed to mean more to her than to whoever took it. He wasn't certain how it ended up here though, was someone flaunting it in her face? It seemed too much of a coincidence. As they started to eat the bread, Ana took in the flavors. The construction seemed simple enough. She could taste the different elements and she squeezed some of the bread in her hand, pulling it apart to see how the consistency worked. "I think... I could duplicate it..." She said quietly, trying to not make her voice sound challenging. "It might take a couple tries, but I'm sure I could figure out recipe... If you would like me to make it.."She thought long and hard. "The stone's rather rare... but that still doesn't explain why some one would steal it only to bring it to me..." She sighed in her thoughts, distracted and exasperated. There had to be a reasoning... why?
It was Ana's voice that brought her back, grounding her some. "Ah." She smiled at the other woman. "I think that would be splendid Ana, I'm sure with your skills you could make it ten times better no doubt." It was flattery she knew.. but it was truth. Ana had a way with food. Her eyes flicked to Lucian and she smiled once more. "Thank you Lucian.. I think.. I'm going to steal it back.. The trouble is.. not only is it in the museum.. it smells like a trap of some sort..."
Her eyes hat that look, the sort of look one only gets when something has struck an idea. perhaps the answer. It could be a trap.. fbut built by who? The only one she knew of that might want to lay a trap would be the family that lost everything when her mother went postal. Her grand parents were dead.. but not her aunts... and certainly not the house hold her mother had stolen her father from.
She had a moment to go very still and very quiet. Her hands grew cold. Would they? She knew of a lesser member from that clan that had escaped to these lands.. but he had only made contact with her once.. to tell her he was aware of her and to leave him be.. She'd done as he'd asked without question. So why would there be a trap laid for her now?
Lucian frowned. This was usually Jaron's thing. He wasn't all that great at stealing, though he figured if he put enough thought into it that he could come up with something. "Can you figure out who did it? And if so, could you let me see them somehow?" Or if not, he supposed he could find someone who deserved to be put away and pin it on them. Regardless, it would take time to figure out a good plan. Anastasia looked at him, almost knowing what he was thinking. She frowned, "You know I can't be a lot of help with that.." He nodded and she mused, not liking the idea at all, but she knew her brother wouldn't sit by and let it happen."It's mine.. either way I'll get it back." Her jaw was set in a stubborn line. It was that aristocratic statuesque look that she some how made look completely attractive. "This is likely a trap.. only way to figure out who did it.. is to spring the trap.." It was a logical thought. At least it made sense to her.
She had an idea.."Would you some how be able to see an image in my mind?? I'm not sure just how your abilities are.. or really what sorts of abilities you two have..." She looked at both of them and it dawned on her... They really both hadn't shared much beyond what she knew.. and that really wasn't that friendly a topic... "I'm sorry.. I guess I never thought about it till now... I can try to see about getting an image or something..""Actually... bare with me... I have an idea." Anastasia spoke up, looking back and forth between the two. "That is, of course, if you trust me." She looked directly at Delphi as she spoke. "Its honestly the best idea I can come up with.."
Not waiting for the answer, she chewed on her lip. "I can change into a form identical to my raven for five minutes. I just need to be able to get in. In that form, I can change back and forth at will, as long as its within that five minutes." She looked to them both, making sure they were with her. "Once in, I can Glitter Dust.. That will blind everyone in the room, including any sort of security." She motioned to Lucian, "I'll need you to create a duplicate of the stone. I'll switch the stones and leave. If I get caught I can Evanesce which will make me disappear for a few seconds, or I can Memory to Mist... I just hope it works." He let out a breath, "Are you sure you'd want to do that? You are putting yourself on the line Ana..." She nodded slowly, "If I don't... you will... And if one of us deserves to go to jail its definitely me.." She said soberly, a frown on her face."Glitter dust? You mean materialize into something.. lesser? like.. SMOKE!" She hadn't thought of this.. why hadn't she? "Smoke.. it's been AGES since I played at smoke.." She giggled lightly. "Ana.. I do trust you.. but I think.. If this is a trap it'd be better for us both to be there.. Two are better than one and.. if you'll bare with me.. smoking through would allow me to help you do what might need be done.. I can't hold anything as smoke.. and well.. " She flushed deep red admitting this before Lucian. "I'd be without a stitch when I re-materialize.. but.. if it means helping you thwart off any would be attackers.. I'd gladly be there to help you.."
Her eyes darted from one to the other. "I don't need weapons to fight.. so.. that wouldn't be an issue.." The only question was.. would Lucian allow them to go about the plan? She shakes her head back and forth, "Glitter dust... Its a dust.. It basically makes everything so bright that you can't see through it. It would likely blind me, as it would you... That's the problem. So I have to be right up to the stone and ready to grab it immediately.. it'll only last 6 seconds at most." She looks at Lucian. "I think it'd be best if you disguise yourself as one of the guards, just in case." Looking at Delphi, she just grinned, "If they want to attack me, they'd have to catch me first. And that's where my actual familiar would come in.. it could help deter anyone looking for me.. Ravens don't seem to be that uncommon here.. So if they're prepared to look for every raven they see.." Letting out a breath, "I honestly think it'd be better for you to stay back, but if things get harry I could definitely use the help. I just don't want the Glitter dust to effect you too, because that would be more of a detriment than help."She took a breath as if to object. The problem was that she didn't want Ana to suffer from any slip ups. "IF this thief.. if he or she is one of my father's people.. they'll know how to trap me.." She looked to her home and stalled her vision on it. "Did you notice that not a draft blew through my home? Most of the fairy dragons that know how to shift to smoke can vapor through a small crack as long as they can see what's on the other side.." She paused. "Like me how ever.. they're left completely devoid of anything covering them.. They'd be just as vulnerable coming into my home as I would be smoking about in the meuseum.."
Still she couldn't think of why not to heed Ana's warning. The woman was trying to actually help.. which was a refreshing change from her earlier display of anger towards her. "I'll stay... I'll stay within a good distance and keep close by and safe.. If you two need me.. then send me word.. I'll be there in a flash.." She looked up at the clouds rolling in over head making the skies turn dark and ugly. "This is either a good omen.. or a bad one.. stormy skies before a heist..""Well, its a good thing we're doing it then, right? He won't be expecting us, and if he is.. he doesn't know what we can do." She stated, folding her arms across her chest. "That said, there will be a brief moment I'll need to be humanoid to pull it off.. So a disguise would probably also be good. I don't want to use my morphing ability unless I absolutely have to since it takes so much energy."Lucian thought for a moment, a hand pressed to his chin. "That could mean that they might come for you while we get the stone..." Tilting his gaze to Ana, "We might want to keep your raven's eyes on Delphi. I know that makes more of a risk... But we don't want them slipping something past us. So you might only use your raven if absolutely necessary.." She frowned, chewing on her lip. That made things even more difficult. It was possible she could keep her minions here to watch her, but what would Delphi say if she found out that she had undead at her disposal? Lucian looked pensive. The skull was one thing, but Mirrikh? He didn't trust that undead creature.. not even for a moment. He wasn't even sure how Delphi would take a talking skull anyway, and she'd probably have to carry him around or keep him close to keep an eye on her. He thought back, knowing she could sense whatever he was thinking.
She guessed by that reaction it was fine if she had Alfred stay with Delphi. Though bringing him up in a conversation wasn't exactly the easiest thing to do, and she didn't have him with her at the moment. "When do we want to do this..?"
She looked at him, searching his face for something that might give way to what he might be thinking. "I hadn't thought about that.. I figured any traps would be around the stone to be honest.." She frowned at the twins, chewing on her bottom lip as she thought. It'd be hard for the thief to trap what he cannot find though..." She thought about it some more. For all she knew, her home was still a secret. And at the very least it was secure...
Sighing, she rubbed her temples. "It looks like the safest spot for me would be trapped in my own home.." She frowned once more.. "I don't like the thought of you two putting yourselves at risk though... I'm not sure who this thief is.. but.. should anything happen to the both of you, I'd never forgive myself." Her gaze held a heavy weight to it as it passed from one to the other. "You two are after all.. the closest thing I have to friends in this land.. It would be ill mannered of me to let you risk what I myself am not willing to risk myself.. I'm going.." She looked directly at Lucian. "Before you object, I'm going and there's nothing you can say to keep me from it. I won't have you two risking what I will not myself."
Ana frowned, looking back and forth between the two before holding up her hands to silence her brother. "I mean no offense Delphi... But I'm the one putting my life on the line. This isn't a challenge.. It's just that if whomever this is is looking for you, to do you harm.. than having you there puts me in greater peril." She chewed her lip, knowing that she'd feel the same way if she were her. "If I'm going to be the one doing it.. then I need to know that there isn't going to be some unexpected problem because I need to watch out for who might come after you." She looked at her again, sincerity in her eyes. "I promise, I'm not doing this to upset you, and its not because I don't think you can do it.. I do.. But I can't be looking over my shoulder. It needs to be a simple in and out. I don't even want Lucian there with me. But the truth is.. they apparently know you and are looking for you. It'll be sending you to slaughter if you come." She said the last part where only she could hear her.
Lucian sighed, leaning back to look up toward the sky again. It was almost a moot point to have the umbrella now. The clouds had deeply overcast the sky into a perfect grey. "To be honest, I don't want to do it this way." He stated, hesitancy in his voice. A stray wind whipped his hair behind him. "I know Ana's abilities, I know she can handle herself. And I will know immediately if something goes wrong because of our tattoos. That doesn't mean I'm okay with this plan." His eyes veered toward his sister. "And don't think I don't know you're trying to sacrifice yourself. If you get hurt.. if you let yourself get hurt I'll hunt your spirit to the ends of the world, Ana. I will hunt you." There was a flash in his eyes, a warning that made her blush as if he had figured out a secret she had been hiding. "I hate this ******** plan as much as you do, Delphi.." There was a growl in his voice as he swore. "But its the best one we have."
Delphi sighed deeply and looked to the sky. Her hands were tied. There was nothing she could say, no argument she could make to be one of the ones to go on this heist. "Alright.. I relent.." Her gaze found the two twins once more. "Let it be known, I am trusting the both of you beyond measure.. And if anything should happen to you.. either of you.. The thief will Wish he'd never invoked my wrath." It was the closest she'd ever come to a blood oath. She'd never allowed herself to be so attached to anyone to cause her vengeance.. but both of them were her only friends.. She had already come to cherish the both of them and the truth was.. part of her would shatter if this went a wry.
"I'm not the most pure creature... I know.. " She shook her head. "We should get inside.. it'll rain soon.. Besides, we need to hatch this plan were nothing can over hear us.." She stood, helping to pick up some of the dishes. "Ana.. Thank you.. What ever happens when you go... Be careful.."
Lucian nodded in agreement. He stood up and pulled down the umbrella, folding it and snapping it shut. He picked up the pillows as the girls stood at the same time that his servants began to gather up the plates. He was deep in thought though, if things didn't go precisely well he knew that Ana would be in danger. He was sure that he could save her, but that meant moving again and he wasn't too fond over the idea. That just meant he'd have to make a few wildcards... Just how was the question.
"Don't worry." He heard his own voice say, "If they hurt either of you they'll have a fight they weren't prepared for." He began heading toward the house, his back showing to both females.
Anastasia let out a breath, moving closer to Delphi after she helped her fold up the blanket. For that brief moment Anastasia let herself walk beside Delphi as if she were an equal.
She mulled this over. Hell fire would be the least of worries for the thief if anything went wrongly. She'd personally see to it. If it meant tapping into that inner darkness.. she'd do it. Her face was shadowed by her hair as she walked, the wind blew at their backs and the thunder rumbled in the distance. This was proving to be quite the storm brewing.
She found some comfort in Ana's words. Watching the man before them walk ahead.. she had to wonder.. would he forgive her if anything should happen to his sister in this stake? Was the stone worth that much to keep it's song and reminder of home? Her head was beginning to hurt and she had a feeling they were being watched by something unfriendly. "We should hurry.. No telling what the storm could be hiding..." Her pace quickened, reaching out, she grasped Ana's wrist firmly yet carefully.
Anastasia tilted her head to one side, looking up toward the sky. This world's energy was still strange to her, perhaps that was why she couldn't pick up anything in the storm. Or maybe Delphi was just more in tune with the weather than she. Regardless, she hadn't noticed anything strange with it, but she kept her pace steady with Delphi's in case she was right.
Lucian had reached the house first, opening the french doors. He turned to wait for them though he set the umbrella just inside the door. "Is everything okay?" He asked when he noticed Delphi's frantic pace. The servants went straight by into the house not more than a moment after him. Still, he had felt someone's eyes on them just as Delphi had, which had made him worry more about the plan they had come up with. He had to make sure he changed it somehow to keep from something happening to both of them. He kept his eyes alert, watching the storm and the girls to make sure they made it in safely.
"Prying eyes.." She cast a scornful look about the openess of outside and the storm before entering the house. She waited for Ana to enter before closing the doors. She was careful to make sure nothing was left open before drawing thick curtains over the windows. She pricked her finger once more before drawing a rune, murmuring in a strange tongue, in the air before the curtains and walking into the living room. Locking doors and closing curtains, she repeated the process. Of course she'd lift the way for Lucian and Ana when they left.. but till then they would be secure.
Turning to face the two, she smiled and sighed holding a cloth to her finger to stop the blood. She'd been a bit hasty and pushed the knife bit deeper than intended but, at least they were secure. "Feel free to take a seat. We can discuss things in here without worry." As if to make her point, she took a seat on a comfortable looking sofa leaving the chairs for them if they chose. Unnerved, a little.. She usually would have been stroking her father's long pink hair about now, but without him or her siblings here to even provide that comfort, she found herself pulling hers over her shoulder and stroking it like it was some strange furry pet of hers. She's always been the more... cuddly of the three of them.. Comfort by touch.. her siblings didn't seem to need the contact as much as she had growing up. Perhaps that was why she'd spent most of her youth hiding in the pink curtain of her father's hair when he was sitting in his study. It was funny.. she hadn't thought about doing that in so long.. Flexing her fingers, she forced herself to stop stroking her hair and instead tucked her feet under her as she hugged a throw pillow.
He nodded, "I felt it too." He looked toward Ana and heard her curse under her breath. "It's fine." He stated, moving toward her and putting her hand on her shoulder. "You didn't know."
"How not?!" Her voice was angry, scolding herself for thinking that things would be the same in this world than it would be in theirs. "How did I not feel it? I even kept a look out with my raven. I was certain that no one was there!" She stomped her foot in aggravation.
"Not the whole time." He replied, understanding her frustration. She was the more magically inclined, so the fact that she couldn't tell made him wonder if somehow whoever the enemy was had gotten to her. In the museum maybe? Or had they tagged the bird? "They hadn't heard everything, at least. If they had I would have stopped you sooner. But we might get you to a neutral party, a healer.. someone who might be able to tell if you've been tagged." He heard her curse again.
Looking toward Delphi, he motioned, "Until I know for sure about what it is that stopped her senses, I don't want to discuss anything further. I don't think they can hear things through her, but since I don't know the magic of this place is capable of I want to be sure." He lowered his head in an apology.
"Don't worry.. I figured they'd smoked them self and been in the clouds.." She sighed lightly. "Sadly.. I don't know of any healers or I'd call for one.. The only healer I know of is well.. far from here.. " She chuckled and shook her head. "If you'd like to wait out the storm a bit.. maybe see if it disperses or lessens you're welcome to stay a while.. I've got cocoa... and we can talk.. about I don't know.. something else maybe.."
She wouldn't stop them from leaving right away if they wished, but she hoped they'd stall their departure a little while longer.. At least till what ever curious stalker they seemed to have got bored...
Lucian nodded slowly as he went to recline on a couch. He wanted to get his sister taken care of as quickly as possible, but he had to admit that riding out into the storm, while whomever was watching was still there, wasn't probably the best idea. He held out his hand, palm up, fingers spread. "Wine, please." It hadn't taken long for one of the Unseen Servants to obtain a bottle, pouring the red liquid into the goblet and putting it in his hand. "Thank you George." He replied. "Would either of you like some?" The servant paused as if waiting for an answer.
Anastasia glanced over at Delphi and sighed, she looked weary and still frantic from the sudden knowledge that she had been played. "I think I'll take some of the wine too. Sorry, I think I need something stronger than cocoa.."
She shook her head lightly. "Don't worry about it, Ana.. I'm actually holding it together better than I'd thought I might.. The last time I got this frazzled.." She shook her hands in the air to signify disbursement. "Poof.... Smoke.. It some times takes my a bit of concentration not to just... go to smoke and drift out into the skies away from it all.." She looked at both of them before flushing lightly.
"Ana.. did anyone .. besides myself or your brother touch you at the museum?" She was trying to figure something out.. if she'd been touched to be tagged.. maybe.. just maybe she could identify the person.
She was now leaning against the wall, her hands against it, her head hung low. She was still, other than the tapping of one foot under her dress. "I don't think so. I don't remember anyone touching me.. And I know I'd remember that..." She didn't exactly like people touching her, not that that was really a surprise to anyone in the room. Her mind was racing though and she felt like the room was closing in on her. It wasn't long, however, that one of the servants brought her her own goblet and she began to drink.
Lucian watched both girls. He found the thought of what Delphi said to be entertaining, but there was too much on his mind to think about it for too long. "So, that probably means we're either dealing with something you touched, someone changing your memory or someone having got a hold of your familiar." He deducted. He supposed there could have been other methods, but those would have been the easiest. Still, if it was the familiar, it would have been much harder to get it to travel to her, and since she could see everything it could, she would have seen it. So that more than likely meant it wasn't the familiar. He needed to see if Alfred knew what it might be and how to remove it, but as long as they were here it he couldn't reach him.
She frowned. "I don't recall anyone brushing past us.. And you never left my side.. even when Lucian was flirting with Clara.." She snickered some. "You must have touched something.... though the only thing I remember you touching.." She racked her brain. "The tree... but then.. hadn't Lucian touched it too?" If Lucian had touched it too.. then why hadn't he been affected as well? And she touched the tickets... "Is it possible.. to do a spell so it effects only a certain type of person?? For instance.. A woman with magic in their blood?" Her eyes fell on Lucian as she asked this question. This wasn't boding well for her... "I think i need something with more kick.." She wasn't going to be able to sleep well with her nerves strung like they were.. "Could I possibly trouble you for a glass? There's wine glasses in the kitchen.. and I've got a couple bottles of fine wine still.. It beats the scotch I have tucked away..."
"I suppose.. but to do so you'd usually have to have the person's blood." Anastasia was the one to speak up, knowing much more about this stuff than Lucian did. "And I seriously doubt that's the case. It's more likely that it was something placed there with incredible odds that I'd touch it, or that one of us would touch it." Her grey eyes shifted. "It's even possible that I wasn't the original target.. Or that all three of us were." She was trying to remember what it was that she had touched, but her brain was so fuzzy that it was giving her a headache.
"However.." Lucian pulled the glass to his lips, peering out over the rim. "It's also possible that this is a side effect of coming here and wasn't an attack at all. I'm not sure why it'd effect just you then." He waved two fingers in the air and the servant instantly went to retrieve another glass and Lucian's own bottle of wine for Delphi.
A groan came from Ana's lips. "It could be something as simple as the one that brought us here is playing a game.. He likes entertainment, does he not?"
"Could be." He agreed, filling his own wine glass again. It was surprising at how quickly it had become empty. "Though I'm not sure why he would. I don't think we'll know for sure until I find someone who can take a look at you."
She sighed even more frustraited. "My wards... Malice.. ill intent upon me.. It's possible it's affected her due to my wardings.. I'm sorry Ana.. I never thought they might act so... And I had lifted them...." She stopped speaking, listening for a moment. "Maybe some one tampered with my wards... I should have felt the difference.. but.. I thought It was a side effect for having the two of you here.." She frowned furrowing her brown. "I hope that's not the case... Be careful who you call for this.. I sure I don't have to caution you but still.. We wouldn't want to call in some one who's foe rather than a sincere friend."
She felt terrible.. All she'd wanted to do was to have a nice outing and build a friendship... She was being rewarded with a massive headache in return. Resting her head against the back of the sofa, she closed her eyes. "I'm sorry.. I've pulled you into quite the mess.. and the worst part is.. the only tip off was that stone today..."
Lucian had meant coming to this world, not Delphi's house, but he supposed he hadn't been incredibly specific either. However, as he thought about what she said, it was possible and made a lot more sense than anything else he could come up with. "Then you're a lot less safe than I originally thought." He stated, "And its also possible it has effected either of us too, just in different ways than it had Ana." He chewed his lip, his fingers dancing against the glass in his hand. "I have an idea of who can help us. Someone I've met before. But I think you should meet them first just in case. I think Ana can look at your wards after she's been looked at, but you and I might need to see her too."
To the statement, both pairs of eyes looked toward her. "Its not your fault." They both said almost simultaneously.
"Besides.." Anastasia replied, still leaning against the wall. "It beats staying at home while Lucian goes clothes shopping." She shot him a look and he just laughed.
She frowned even more. "Danger..." Sighing she opened her eyes. "I thought.. that everything would be good here.. no danger.. no worries.. except for maybe normal ones.. not.. well this.." She chewed her lip some. "I guess it is a bit of a difference and something to do.." She chuckled lightly and smirked at Lucian.
"When you go to see her.. let me know.. I'll try to meet you both there.. that way we can just get it done at once.." the wind roared against the windows outside, blowing in gusts and asulting the house with rain. "It doesn't sound like it's going to let up any time soon does it.. If you guys get tired.. I can set up a couple of cots.. or pull out some spare pillows and blankets. The couches are more comfortable than the cots.." She tapped her lip in thought. "I suppose this is why people have guest bedrooms."
He couldn't help but chuckle just a little as he sunk deeper into the couch. "I have wine, two beautiful ladies and servants.. What else would I need?" His pale orbs settled on Delphi, "Besides.. you shouldn't have much to worry about as long as we're here. We'll protect you. I promise." It was apparent he had probably been drinking too much as it was, since he seemed a lot more complacent than he had only moments before.
Anastasia, however, sighed. She didn't like the idea of being this far from where everything was. She hated the idea even more that she was stuck and couldn't get the things done that she needed. There was no telling what was wrong in the first place or how far it had been spread. "Fine." She finally replied, frustration in her voice. "But we leave first thing in the morning to find your healer, Lucian. I'm not going to sit around while someone blocks my magic."
She flushed rather red at his remark. Clearing her throat, she looked at the other woman. "Ana.. if it'd be more comfortable.. You can share my room.. It'd be like a slumber party." She chuckled merrily. She hadn't waited for any form of remark. Standing, she went to the same closet that had held the picnic umbrella and cusions. Pulling a few pillows down, she walked to another closet fetching a set of sheets and a quilt that was ornately designed.
Returning, she started to make up the sofa she'd been sitting on. Carefully she tucked the sheets into the cushions, takign the back cushions off, she set them behind the sofa. Spreading the quilt over the sofa, she stepped aside to put the pillow case on the pillow. "I'm sorry I don't have anything you can sleep in Lucian.. But I should have something that will fit Ana.."
Putting the pillow on the sofa, she stepped aside. "I'll unlock my room and let you skim through the wardrobe... " Walking down the hall, she motioned Ana to follow her. She didn't wait to see if Ana would follow just simply figured she would. Unlocking her door, she traced a rune before blowing over it and muttering something. This had been warded too. the runes gave a shimmer a brief moment and she pushed the door open. Walking into the room, she pulled the screen around her own altar to hide it. She didn't need Ana seeing in and becoming in a more foul mood.
"Nah.." He said, his eyes half closed as he waved her off. "I can sleep in the nude." His lips lazily formed into a grin as he took another sip of the wine, not seeming to have a care in the world. He propped his legs up on the armrest, his hair drifting behind him as he laid his head down.
"...I think not..." Anastasia glared in his direction. It wasn't that she hadn't seen him naked before, but they were in someone else's house and she knew he wouldn't be acting this way had he not drank as much as he had. Tilting her head toward seemingly nothing, "George... make sure he doesn't do anything stupid..."
Looking back at Delphi, her eyes narrowed slightly as her head shifted back and forth. "I.. would prefer to stay down here.. I don't exactly get along with other females very well..." And well, to be honest, she was use to sharing a room with Lucian on most days. Usually it was because they were forced to share a room due to not enough living quarters. However, she wasn't sure if she trusted Lucian on his own right now. Still, she wasn't going to tell the other female this, for whatever reason Lucian liked her.. And he wouldn't forgive her for ruining any chance he had, even if she knew he didn't understand how it could be taken out of context.
Anastasia followed behind Delphi reluctantly. She was sure that Lucian had his wardrobe with him, he always did. He had always managed to keep a couple of outfits in there for her, just in case. However, in the state he was currently in, she wasn't sure if she could reason enough with him to grab her things, especially if that wasn't his first reaction when it was mentioned.
She walked over to her wardrobe and opened the ornate doors carved with dragons and griffens alike. Inside was a selection of night gowns, some more provocative than others.. Just because she had no one to wear them for didn't mean she didn't like the feel of them. Reachign in, she pulled out a soft pink satain night gown that had a matchign robe. "I think I've got some white pajamas in here.." Walking to the adjoining bathroom, she ran the water in the sink to wash her face.. "It's been quite a day.. if you like you can shower in here before bed... there's the one upstairs of course.. but there aren't any towels currently in that bathroom." Shrugging, she used a wash cloth to wash her face and turned off the water.
Closing the bathroom door, she changed her attire. Opening it once more, she tied the sash around her waist and pulled her hair into a loose bun at the top of her head, securing it. "Find something you like?"
It shouldn't have been that much of a surprise when she pulled out a white lace nightgown. It, in her opinion, wasn't as cute as her own, but it still resembled something close to her own wardrobe. It wasn't the most modest, compared to some of the others, but being that she wasn't as well endowned as some other females and that it was her brother and another female, she cared very little about it. She pulled it out and showed it to Delphi, making sure it was okay if she used it. "Is this okay?"
To the question about the shower, she nodded slowly. "I'd like that." So yes, she could keep herself clean with her magic, but there was something to be said about the feel of water that just made you feel better.
She gave Ana a smile and nodded. "That one's fine to use.." She smiled broadly and crossed the room to her closet. Opening the double doors, she stepped inside and came back out with a couple of plush white bath sheets. "They're extra big towels.. I find they're better for wrapping up in after a shower.. cover more.." She offered the towels to the other woman. "While you're showering, I'll turn down the bed and ready you a pillow."
With that, she made to close the doors, pausing. "Do you think your brother would need a shower?? Or has he likely passed out after that much wine?" She figured the man had likely just gone to bed. She'd have to bring out some towels in the morning. Closing the closet, she crossed to the bed. It was a large bed, king sized and covered in satin and fur. Charcoal satin sheets and black, white cream furs and blankets. She even managed a bit of steel blue in the mix. Her room had been a drastic difference from the rest of the house and the smell of incense was still lingering in the room.
"I'm fine with the couch.." She said quietly, taking the towels before moving toward the bathroom. Perhaps it was a little selfish, and she knew, but she couldn't help herself. "No.. let him sleep." She was sure that he'd want to take a bath, but there was still a part of her that wanted to protect him, even if there was another part that was slowly accepting that he was finally growing up a little. "He can take a shower in the morning." With that she closed the door behind her and started the ritual for taking a shower.
Sighing, she let the subject drop. Discarding her robe, she left it on a chair beside the bed and slipped into the covers. Turning out the lamp, she eased herself. Closing her eyes, she soon drifted off to sleep. They'd have to talk in the morning, all of them.. and then they'd be able to get this whole issue... dealt with at the healer's.
