This thread will be used to continue or play events outside of the main Kingdom Academy story line, mostly during times glossed over in the many, many, many time-skips. Basically, if you and/or some other folks want to do something and you can't figure out where to put it in the RP, put it in here. Example: Shion and Zack sparring on their first day of class. Totally skipped that in RP, but since it only affects those two and didn't get a good shot in the main timeline, that's what this thread is for. ATEs don't even have to be between multiple people. Have some solo training your character plans to sneak in after curfew? Put it in here! Clear as mud? Good, moving on! Please tag your ATE so we can differentiate between them. For instance, we may have a time-skip so as to speed things up. If you wanted to explain what your character(s) were doing during the skip, you would make an ATE. What can I do during an ATE?Well, it sort of depends on the amount of time it was supposed to take place during. If you make the ATE occur while everyone in the actual RP is taking a 30 minute nap, then you only have 30 minutes in the ATE to do something. I did something in the ATE that drastically changed my character, but nobody noticed!Something important to note: ATEs do NOT affect the overall character standing/continuity in the actual roleplay plot! ATE's are NOT a requirement to the roleplay! If you want other characters to react to something, then either they need to be in the ATE, or you need to do it in the actual RP. Basically, ATEs are things that should only affect the characters who are ACTUALLY in the ATEs themselves. Picture them as the 'side quests' in Kingdom Hearts or Final Fantasy. When you did a Side Quest, it was almost like the entire plot was at a standstill. Plotwise, you're about to face the final boss, but you head somewhere else in order to unlock a secret weapon. At the end of the 'Side Quest', you're still right back where you started plot-wise, about to face the final boss. To expand on the last bit, if anything happens in an ATE that you want to carry over to the main RP, just link to the first ATE post in the first relevant RP post by the character(s) affected. Crossing the open space for the 4th time in an odd pace, the knight in training was completely confounded by why she had agreed ot meet here. What if this was some sick prank and the fool wasn’t going to show up? The more and more she thought about it, judging from the setting of the Academy she figured it was most likely everyone was some level of respectability- and yet- glancing to the vacant open space where they had agreed to meet, Shion couldn’t help but imagine Zack somewhere else laughing up a storm on how he duped her.
Her hands gripped the hilt of her swords and then relaxed again. Turning she walked to the ledge that over looked the mountain side. It was lovely under the stars. The moon was a half, like a jellyfish in the indigo of the night sky.
It was quiet romantic if you were that silly sort.
“hmmm…” she blew a sigh and ran her gloved fingers through her moonlit hair and decided to give the man ten minutes or else she was leaving.
No. May be she’d stay.. this wasn’t a bad place to practice now reconsidering.
The hiss of metal rang out into the silence as she pulled her two rapiers. They glinted a faint teal under the natural lighting, and taking her first stance, Shion pushed off into a charge against an invisible enemy.

{Zack .:. Kingdom Academy .:. Cliff Top} "I'm heeeeeeeeere!" could be heard echoing from the cliff walls, getting slowly louder as the sound of running feet grew nearer. If she were to look, Shion would be able to see Zack rounding the last bend in the trail leading to the cliff top, waving one hand wildly over his head as the other held his Buster Sword in place. He came to a halt a few feet away, and doubled over to brace his hands against his knees as he tried to catch his breath. "Sorry I'm late," he panted, grinning at the knight-in-training. ...Squire? What was the official term, anyway? "Had homework. Got distracted. Sword heavy. Whoo!" With a final huff, Zack straightened up, and immediately went into a sequence of his signature crouches. "So Shion, you ready to spar?" he asked between grunts, an anticipatory gleam in his sky blue eyes.

~~ Shion: Kingdom Academy:: Top of Cliff~~~
The girl had only gotten a thrust in before Zacks boisterous voice rang loud and clear through the night air. Turning from her upwards gaze to the moon, the squire turned about and stood there regarding the young man before her. His breath was hitched from all the running, and she smiled ever so slightly giving him a moment to regain his breath.
“Tis fine. I understand.” She did not mention her intension to depart no soon later. Shion eyed the massive sword he was indeed dragging about, sizing it up this time. It was a horse slayer if she was correct. Not the sort one would expect for single combat-
“Heavy indeed.” She admitted-“the only place I’ve seen those swords were at the front lines of an army, used to cut down enemy riders.”
Assuming her own starting position the young lady gripped the hilts of her twin rapiers on either side of her hips and crouched. “I’m ready to see how they will act in a spar like this one-“
A split second later- “ Show me the voice of your metal Zack!”
-and the girl was a blurring streak of moonlit hair and blue tinted armor, launching herself like a loosed spring directly at him like a beeline from the front. She’d make contact instantly if he was not quick.

{Zack .:. Land of Departure .:. Cliff Top} "WHOA, HANG ON A SECOND! I WASN'T READY, I WAS JUST ASKING IF YOU WERE!!!" Zack shouted, waving his hands frantically in front of him to show they were still empty. He threw himself to the side at the last second, drawing the Buster Sword and holding it in front of him defensively. "But bring it on anyway!"He lunged forward, blade leading in an overhand arc, aiming to knock her lighter rapier from her right hand.

“Awww- but then I wouldn’t get to see your reaction time.” She crooned standing there where he used to be. The girl had a little smile on her face-, quite the treat compared to her usual neutral or serious expression.
‘He’s good at fast reactions. I better try and keep one step ahead.’
As he brought out his sword and made his first charge Shion immediately evaded, but not in the way one would expect. She braced- made to side jump, and instead lunge forward ducking under his strike right into his close space! She could have head butted him at that distance- if she had been tall enough. But instead she pivoted so her body would turn and simultaneously rotate around to be behind him. Once there Shion made to use the butt hilt of both her blades to strike at his lower back – intent to make him fall forward if they hit. With some luck the weight of his sword being already in the front would send him falling on his face.
That move was so fluid it could have been a dance move! It was.

{Zack .:. Land of Departure .:. Cliff Top} Zack didn't respond to Shion's sally, mostly because he was already in the middle of his attack. She dodged in a completely unexpected direction and danced around him, causing Zack to stumble under the weight and momentum of his blade. Combine that with her butting him with her hilts, and he tripped, nearly landing on his face. He managed to turn the fall into a roll, and came up on his feet again. He turned to face her, swinging the Buster Sword in a wide arc about waist-high to her, though it was slow and clumsy. He hadn't been expecting her to dodge like that, and it had thrown him off a little bit.

Impressively Zack was quick to not end up landing flat on his face. For that Shion was glad, otherwise she’d begin to think this wouldn’t be much of a fight. But he was a higher year then her for a reason- and the knight in training was hoping to soon find out why.
As he swung his blade at half her height, Shion jumped straight up into the air, her body twisting over his head, the height she reached was impressive and something to note to the trained eye. The moment her feet touched down she started in a dash to circle him. She was amazingly quick and seemed to pick up speed, watching him- looking for something.
A weakness?
Was this a skill of hers?

{Zack .:. Land of Departure .:. Cliff Top} Zack was able to track her movements, but before she completed even one loop in her circling, he struck, lunging forward with his blade leading. The Buster Sword wasn't really meant for stabbing, so the lunge was slow and clumsy compared to the moves he'd been pulling off so far.

As Zack made a stab lunge for her with this blade-Shion jumped again, this time towards him, skimming under the blade. Taking her blades out it looked like she was finally going to strike him with the blunt side of her blades somewhere around his middle. If he didn’t move she was going to slam right into him.

{Zack .:. Land of Departure .:. Cliff Top} Zack hadn't expected his attack to hit anything, but once again Shion surprised him and dodged in a direction completely opposite what he had anticipated. He grunted as her blades impacted his midsection, and doubled over instinctively. He turned that doubling over into a somersault to get out of the way, and swept the Buster Sword out behind him in a wide, low arc, aiming to trip his opponent up. One hand pressed to his bruised stomach, but luckily he was strong enough in arm that he could wield the sword one-handed for moves like this.

The squre was fast, but not fast enough to roll over Zacks sword in time. He was too close and the sword had too far a reach- and thier speeds were nearly matched. The side of the blade clipped her leg armor and she lost her footing falling over. The sound of clattering metal hitting soft earth was abrupt. Her breathing hitched form the sudden impact of her head on the hard ground. She was down, the wind knocked out of her for a precious few seconds before she recoiled and rolled away as quickly as she could. She rolled onto her feet and jumped away, once at a distance she took a few deep breathes, allowing her partner to do the same before preparing to strike again.

{Zack .:. Land of Departure .:. Cliff Top} When Zack saw Shion pause to catch her breath, he lowered his guard just a trifle and grinned at his new friend. Anyone he sparred with was immediately a friend. Then again, anyone who spoke to him for more than three minutes was a friend to him. "Need a break?" he asked. His breathing was heavy, but not particularly labored. So far this had been an excellent workout. She was fast and agile, just the sort of opponent he needed to practice against. Shion didn't seem much winded either, but since she'd paused he figured he'd better check.

"Funny- I was going to ask you that." Shion breathed, half laughing as she straightened up.
"I mean, you don't seem too winded, but I am a woman of honor- " she continued, an air of feint pious in her tone as her brow arced. "- tis my responsibility as your partner to be courteous. But if you are fine, so am I- shall we continue this dance?" A knights daughter indeed.
With a flurry of her hand her rapier slashed to her other side and she re-pivoted her feet in advancement posture to his direction waiting for her friends que.
"I must say, I do wonder where you get the strength to wield that blade for as long has you have. Such a thing would kill a man from where I'm from." Wielding the horse slayer was something only a crazed man on the front lines of war would do, and after one strike that would be the end of them. Their arms would be torn asunder and they'd be useless from then on. If they lived to see the end of battle though, their sacrifice would be honored.
How was it this young man could swing that thing like it weighted no more to them, then her rapier did?
Perhaps it was magic?

{Zack .:. Land of Departure .:. Cliff Top} "Well," Zack said, hefting the Buster Sword and regarding the blade fondly, "I've been training with it for a long time. I may not look it, what with my devilish good looks and all, but I'm a lot older than most students here. I'm probably the oldest. But don't take my word for it! It's not like I know everyone in the Academy! I was training to be a Hero on Olympus. Learned a lot there. Eventually they ran out of things to teach me, and I came here." He shrugged and sheathed the blade. With a grunt, Zack dropped to the ground and sat cross-legged, looking up at his sparring partner. "So what about you? What's your story?"
