xxxxxx»»Ninєvє Cordєliα Each day the morning rose, the sky was more red than anything else. Over many years, said the previous generation, the sky had purples and pinks and oranges. Now the sky was a tainted red that overtook the sky until it reached a poisoned blue-purple. Nineve liked looking at the sky, though, and kept her window open so she'd be awakened by swarms of red and gold.
Each morning, she began her routine. Nineve would open her blue eyes, get up, and do a once-over of the apartment - check the windows, check the doors. If everything is locked and untouched, it means this day will be a good one. Should any of the locks looked jammed or damaged in some way, she could expect an Escort (military-grade, that is) throughout the next couple weeks, if not longer.
Her apartment was small, as were all the other ones around her. In fact, this territory didn't allow people to live in quarters larger than so many feet. There were also few furnishings in any room. Just the bare minimum required, curtsey of the wonderful The New Government. Nineve, satisfied with her examination of three doors and two round windows, grabbed an apple. Not the apples from the 20th century. These apples were genetically altered and mutated. The apple tasted like nothing. Food was just substance, not for pleasure.
As the sky bathed her small living room in red, Nineve would get dressed. Usually her clothing were nondescript, non-attractive fabrics. She picked mostly monochrome clothes, since it allowed her to blend in quite nicely. Occasionally she'd have a red clip in her hair, maybe red socks. Red was Nineve's favorite color, but sticking out too much in a world like this can bring grave consequences.
Once, Nineve's neighbor had dyed her hair an aqua blue - a color that had to be acquired illegally - and she had been arrested the moment she left the building. Whispers passed through every hallway and under everyone's doors. No one can honestly say where she went or what happened to her. But that was the message, after all. We can make you disappear too, said the whispers.
With her dull dark purple hair (which she had just died black, but it was growing out again) tied up, dressed nondescriptly, she grabbed her bag and headed out. She locked her door and checked it twice. She moved the handle down a little, so it wasn't completely up, but she'd know if it had moved. Paranoia was a girl's best friend nowadays. As the saying goes, 'Can't be too careful.'
Satisfied, Nineve began the walk down five flights of stairs.

"Goooooooooood Morning, Ladies and Gentlemen, Ping here! Your Digital Heaven host and boy oh boy do I have some news." Pileng Park, or "Ping"(her online handle) spoke excitedly into her microphone sitting upon her computer desk in her rather small apartment. In front of her was a grade A super computer that she had netted off of the black market, illegal, very illegal but for Pileng, the reward was worth the risk. Using this computer and other resources she had help to set up a virtual get away from a persons everyday life in this repressive society that they were forced to live in. "Alright, tune your ears and pump up your volume for this peeps, I've got some bad news, followed by some good news, and then some more bad news, followed again by, you guessed it! Some good news." Pileng announced in a official voice. She turned in her clear plexiglass bowl like chair, another item that had been acquired illegally, the chair was very high tech, it had multiple audio ports and peripheral ports that were made too enhance the power of some of her gadgets, audio ports int he chair, connected to her headphones through the chairs built in audio system and offered her absolute euphoric surround sound, and an AV connector for her glasses basically put her directly into the net, it was an amazing experience. "First up, bad news part 1. DH5.6.7 is quickly becoming obsolete, as the whispers are learning of ways to circumvent the program, We have received reports of the whisper tracking component, going off late, and almost getting users, busted. So we warn all users to be very careful when using the program." Ping kept her voice upbeat and jovial, she had been doing this for years it was easy for her. DH5.6.7 or Digital Heaven 5.6.7 is the program in which all users use to access the Digital Heaven servers. Open source of course, and open to the public, anyone can access Digital Heaven, even those who look to shut it down, but the magic behind Heaven was the fact that everything about it was completely anonymous, there was no way of using it's data too track it's users. The program was a social media hotline where all sorts of information and common chatter was shared, videos and games could be viewed and played all without regulation. "Good news part one, is that despite the breech in security no one has been caught and obliterated by whispers, and we plan on keeping it that way, but in order to do that..... And here comes bad news part two. We are going too have too take DH down for the day, just for today, because. Here comes Good news part two. We are updating the program! Yes that rumored patch you all heard was coming! Faster firmware, and more data, yes yes yes, folks that means better load times, more slots for friends and more room for messages, Digital Heaven 5.6.8 will blow you away. Welp folk that ends today's broadcast. Ping, signing off!"As soon as the broadcast ended ping let out a long sigh, she was tired, she had been working all night getting DH 5.6.8 ready for launch, all alone. In her broadcast she used the word "We" alot, and while she did work with a few different people to insure that DH ran smoothly she was the only one who saw the code. She didn't trust anyone with her baby, she was an overprotective parent. Disconnecting from her chair, Ping decided to go for a shower, and then she would head out. She needed to test 5.6.8's mobile application, and whisper alert system, and what better way too do that than in the field? _______ Ping stepped out of her small apartment about thirty minutes later, she was dressed as casually as it got for her. Blank tank top, white pants and shoes. Wrapped around her waist was a black hooded jacket, something she would need in public, because she was a bit over geared for the public eye. She still had her headphones on, although a little less bulky without the chairs add-ons, on her wrist was a phone port, which her phone was securely strapped in, it too was connected to her headphones. 5.6.8 already booted up, and feeding her information through her headphones, she was currently listening to her morning broadcast. She heard footsteps approaching and turned her head, too take in the sight of one of her building mates....she couldn't quite recall her name, something with an N....hmmmm Ninielva? Noooo..... Ahhh whatever. "Hey Nini did you catch the broadcast of......" Pileng stopped mid sentence as three quick beeps sounded in her headset loud and clear over everything she was listening too. There was a whisper near, but it was moving, moving and gone. Pileng deiced to continue on like nothing had happened. "Ghost in the Shell, last night? That movie is a classic, I tell ya."(Just needed to get this written I will format a post style later I pwomise!!!)

xxxxxx»»Ninєvє Cordєliα The walls were completely white, and the wood was a default tan tile that made Evie's shoes click each step she took. Every door looked the exact same, made of wood but painted white. Numbers were placed in a small sign next to it, representing a person instead of their name. Under it, a person could have an Identifier (such as using a finger print or eye scan) to get in. Whispers and Escorts had complete access to everything, though, so nothing was ever truly safe. Thoughts like this occurred to her often, but then again, it would probably end up helping her in the long run. It might even come in handy as a skill.
Reaching the end of the hall, Nineve was already in her own little world. She tended to do this quite often, actually. She was thinking of her plans today, especially because for her, at least, it wasn't a designated work day. She was one of the lucky ones - Nineve had a job that let her have two days off, and extra benefits on the side. Yes, illegal benefits, but as long as there was no trace, no one had to know. What was that old saying? she pondered, until she was startled to hear someone's voice.
Nineve blinked, then smiled at the nickname and nodded. "Hey, Pileng," she said, recognizing her immediately due to the headphones. While many people had them, Evie really liked those ones. Plus, she had an almost freaky ability to see someone and remember all their basic information in that moment. "And yeah, that movie was actually good. I hear they might do a spin-off series since the audience seemed to like it so much," she replied, switching her shoulder bag to her other side.
Sighing at the fact there was technologies beyond any imagination yet the government still made their citizens walk down regular stairs, Nineve tried to focus back on her conversation with her building-mate. She hadn't watched a lot of movies lately - at least not approved ones - but she had seen quite a few in her twenty year lifespan. "I have to say though, I liked that actor just as much in Fairy Tail." She pulled out her phone to check her alters and any important news she may have missed in the few hours of sleep she managed. She had another phone that wasn't registered, but she definitely wasn't going to take it out in front of her neighbor.

"Hey, Pileng," Ahh yes her government name, only those on DH knew her as Ping, to Nini and everyone else in the world she was simply Pileng, Pileng Park the computer technician, "You got a problem with your computer? Well, I've got a fix." Yea, something like that. "Oh really? A remake? I wasn't expecting that." A lie, Pileng knew, hell she knew the people working on the project, ghost in the shell is a controversial animated movie, it has been viewed by those in power as a tool that can be used to cause a uproar in society and thus banned, those making the remake were risking their lives. But more power to them, she knew the remake was gonna kick a**. I hope it turns out well, and I'm not much a fan of fairy tale so I can't really say the same...hmmmm Where are you heading today?" Ping asked, slipping her jacket on. She herself was going to spend her day on the roofs, she need to hack into a com uplink to get some more data for her program update.

xxxxxx»»Ninєvє Cordєliα Yawning a little, Nineve shook her head to wake herself up. It wasn't that she was bored of the conversation; rather, she just never slept very well. Sneaking out of your fifth story window would do that to you, I suppose. Turning back to the conversation, she said, "To each their own." As for her plans... well, Nineve would've sliced her fingers off than tell her the truth.
In fact, Nineve was on her way to an illegal gathering, masked as old friends talking about how great The New Government was and making pretty drawings. They met often in small groups - always five and under - at all hours of the day. People took turns being in charge and spreading the word of the next meeting. Sometimes, late at night (or very early in the morning), they listened to Ping, from DH5.6.7, one of Nineve's favorite illicit station. Other times they wrote to other regions using 'alternatives' of contact.
The most exciting thing about her group was when they broke out prisoners in The Cube. That's why Nineve worked there. To free her fellow rebels after they'd been captured.
"Oh, well, I figured I'd go see some friends and do some shopping. Maybe I'll find another pair of shoes," she chatted, thinking about how she lost the last ones at The Cube. "What about you? Is it a working day, or are you off?"

Pileng smiled warmly at Nini as the girl gracefully accepted her opinion, on the net it was hard to find people just willing to accept that people may have differing opinions, but that wasn't much of a shock. There was no limits to what people would do or say behind the safety of anonymity. It seemed that Nini would be hanging out with her friends today, perhaps doing a bit of shopping. Pileng had expected such an answer, the girl seemed innocent it didn't look like she would be up too something shady like Pileng, the girl was going to be safe from whispers and the cube for the entirity of her life, while Pileng, wasn't sure if she'd even make it back home today. She did envy the girl. But not much. Minor freedoms were worth the major risk. "Yea today is technically an off day, but I'm still going out to do a bit of work. It doesn't hurt too put in a few extra hours right?" Pileng said happily slipping on her jacket, covering up many of her devices, before making her way down the stairs.

xxxxxx»»Ninєvє Cordєliα For a moment - a very miniscule quarter of a second, that is - Nineve thought about inviting someone along to their meeting. It happened occasionally; if someone was invited, it was taken very seriously. Doubts within the group would have killed itself and therefore trust was an absolute. And Evie hardly knew anything about this girl! They were only neighbors. Not even quite friends, really.
All this ran through her mind as she headed down the steps. "Someone's a workaholic," she replied teasingly; since her body had its own autopilot, she could have her mind on various unrelated matters and still keep up the conversation with whomever she may have been having a conversation with. This worked well at her job and when she had to chatter with the mindless drones in stores and whatnot.
Nineve was starting to get really excited. Hitting the last flight of stairs, she was practically bouncing. Trying to relax herself so as not to attract attention, she took long breaths as quietly as possible. Waving to another building-mate, Nineve headed towards the electronic doors. "I'm headed towards the Field," she said, not sure where her neighbor was headed. If they were going the same way, they could walk, or her neighbor might just wave and hope Nineve leaves her alone.
The Field was like a park, except there were no real animals or birds (just machinery meant to look like it) and dead, yellow grass. Homes littered the streets nearby. The park seemed like a random place to put things, with how organized things were supposed to be. There were also picnic tables from the Old Days, and some newer looking benches. There was a tack with a robot that timed you if you set it up, a swing that automatically "pushed" you, and a more modern game of Horseshoe. The at the edge of the park, the pier had long collapsed, the water below it had been drained. It was more of a ditch where a stream had been. But people went there for competitions and lunch anyway. Plus, the more public the meeting during the day, the better.

A workaholic? Yep, yep, yep that was a very accurate description of Ping, she devoted her life to her craft, day in and day out, she has often lost multiple night of sleep for her work, skipping meals until she realized she was on the verge of passing out, just because she needed to type in just one more line of code, just another value needed to be entered, just one more OB1 error to correct..... Pileng smiled at Nini, the girl had no clue. "Yea I get that a lot, but I enjoy myself thoroughly, so why not throw myself at it head first, and just go all in right?" Pileng asked as she and her neighbor descended more stairs. Ping raised an eyebrow at the intended destination of her neighbor Ping was heading towards that area, the field itself had many com links that she could tap into easily all connected, and with it being a park, it's simulated forestation would add for a lot of cover. "I will actually be working in that area today. Ha. Smell world eh? Maybe when I'm done, and if you haven't already moved on, We can hang out a bit?" Ping asked sounding a bit more hopeful than she would have wanted, to be perfectly honest. Ping was a bit....lonely. Sure on the web she was famous, but that was just on the web, in real life her fame would get her killed, "Obliterated" was the obligatory term that they used on DH, and she spent so much time working on DH that she had very little time to socialize, so whenever she spotted someone she knew, she tended to stick too them, for as long as possible, and today that certain person could be Nini. "I mean...if you want."

xxxxxx»»Ninєvє Cordєliα Nineve smiled when she heard Pileng say she enjoyed her work. Not many people did. After all, when the government is the one assigning jobs, not many people end up happy. And no - Nineve wasn't just lucky when it came to her reassignment to the Cube. One of her bosses managed to change the files. Nineve didn't ask too many questions either.
Happily trotting on the sidewalk, Nineve let out a cheer. "Hey, that's great!" She was always happy to meet a new friend, even if she wasn't part of the rebellion. And besides, her neighbor seemed really nice. She couldn't remember why they had never talked so much before. Maybe the timing wasn't right or something...
Well, here they were, right? "But, um, yeah, I'd love to hang out," she added excitedly, dodging a few people on the sidewalk. It might actually be nice to have a regular friend, not mixed up in jailbreaks and crazy break-ins for paperwork and other craziness. Jin will never believe this... Jin was her partner in the rebellion. He was older, and like a big brother.
"I should be set by noon, if you want, like, a lunch break," Nineve offered, cooling it on her excitedness. She could be like a little kid sometimes, especially when it came to the little things.

Ping smiled a bit sheepishly at Nini's excitement, she wasn't as expressive as the other girl in the moment but she was equally as happy for the coincidence as Nini was, as the two walked together Ping mad sure too keep her eyes out and her still headphone covered ears open. Every so often slowing her pace or perhaps steering the conversation a bit when a whisper was near, until they reach their destination. "Awesome," Ping sounded at Nini's approval of their planes to hang out, it would give her the chance to cool down a bit after doing what she was doing, and incase the actions could be tracked back to her, she could always use the girl as a cover up, it never hurt to have contingency plans. "So I'll meet up with you again around noon, for lunch? Got it, ok Nini. I have to run, but I'll be here for sure, Yea? See ya!"With that Ping turn and took off at a bit of a sprint, her tracker had just given her another signal meaning for a short time the area she needed to reach was whisper free, but that wouldn't last for long. If she wanted to be alive for her meeting with Nini, she would have to hurry. (Time skip?)

xxxxxx»»Ninєvє Cordєliα Nineve, in a fantastic mood, hummed the rest of the way to work. Every once in a while she would wave to someone she knew at the Cube or from her building. It was always good to look friendly and carefree. After all, that's the way the government wants its citizens. Appearances were everything to every one.
Finally hitting the park, Nineve waved to a small group right in the middle. "Hey guys!" she shouted, smiling. Jin waved at her a bit, but some of the others were more enthusiastic. Once she joined them on the bench, one of the girls her age smiled, but it meant something different.
"You all ready? We have a plan. Tonight." Her grey eyes were bright and narrowed in mischievousness. "We meet at three," she whispered. "Another BO."

Ping was sitting on a park bench in the fields relaxing her hands clasped behind her head and soft music playing through her headphones, she had an accomplished smile on her face as everything seemed to be working right for her. Her tracker was pinging when it needed too and she had been able to get into the com link she needed for DH 5.6.8, the update for the program was going so swimmingly that she was seriously contemplating patching the client patching the client and just updating it now. But she was still out in public and updating right now on her mobile device might get her tracked and subsequently obliterated, not worth it at all. Besides she had a date. Ping grinned widely at the thought, and what a cutey she was. Ping didn't know if Nini even liked girls really, honestly she probably didn't, in this day and age same sex relationships was little more than a taboo, it was practically a crime. Why was she thinking about this now? This was just a gathering between friends. They were friends right? All relationships started between friends right? And who's to say Nini wasn't gay? Coincidences happen. "Heh.... If I want to stand a chance I should probably get to remembering her full name, cause calling her Nini probably won't cut it forever." Ping sighed.
