Shock. It was the feeling Cami had every morning she woke up with the sunshine on her face and the lamp next to the bed glowing. Shock when she cuddled down into her warm bed without having Mimsy's stone face looking down at her, a place where she didn't have to worry about accidentally harming something irreplaceable, and it was all a gift. It always took her ten minutes to get over it, ten minutes where she curled up against her pillow and tried not to cry. Smiled because that's what ladies did instead. Got up, hugged Otto, and they went about their day. Today there was a rap on the door while Cami was curled into the couch, perusing recipes on her phone as to what she would make for dinner tonight for the brood she'd somehow gathered around her, causing her head to perk. Without thinking she answered it to see a perky blonde outside. "Hi?"

When Maebe knocked on Otto's door, she hadn't actually expected an answer. She expected to have to open it on her own, and come in to find a still moping pile of hatred locked away again. Enough time had passed since the last time she'd been here, to warrant another visit. But she did not do encores. She'd gotten exactly what she wanted from Otto, and she knew she'd left him just a little more broken than he'd been before she'd come. He'd drowned his sorrows in her carnal delights, and now he lived with the knowledge that the first thing he'd done after his girlfriends demise was sink himself into another woman. All in all, it had been a great day. But she was back, and she'd spent a little time reasoning with herself as to why. In the end, she decided she didn't really care why she made the choices she did, and just went with them regardless of whether they worked in her favor or not. So, when the door opened, and she saw that pretty little head of bright hair bobbing at her, she sucked in a small breath, and readjusted her priorities entirely. She wasn't here for Otto at all, obviously. This made perfect sense again. And that felt very, very good. "Hi." Maebe smiled, her bright grin growing with delight. "You're Cami, right? From Twitter?" She had so much to be thankful at Otto for. She'd make sure he got a little something for his troubles.

At first Cami had felt hesitant about opening the door to the incredibly pretty girl on the other side. It didn't take much to add up extreme attractiveness to a level that was blisteringly hot, blonde hair, and blue eyes. "Maebe, right?" It wasn't hard at all to smile back but, unfortunately, this very pretty lady was potentially going to be very disappointed. "Sorry to say that Otto's not here right now." Was it rude to check out attractive people standing at your front door? Cornflower eyes did it anyway, giving her an appreciative once-over as she tried to think of what to do. Invite her in? Otto hadn't seemed terribly unhappy about his relationship with the bombshell but neither had he been especially happy or forthcoming. Not all was well in hookup-land? Well. When was it ever? Shifting her weight the former student leaned backwards so that the door opened another fraction of an inch, giving the other woman an in if she decided she wanted it. If Maebe pushed past her then, if Otto showed up and was unhappy, she could simply helplessly shrug. Dishonest? A little. Not terribly, though.

In the sum of a few seconds, Maebe calculated exactly what Cami was doing, and how long it would take until she was on the bed screaming. She was happy to note that the estimation seemed less troublesome than some other recent acquisitions. Maebe did not like to waste time. The door was opened further, and Maebe understood that this was Cami's way of inviting her in without taking the blame for it. All too happy to be the bad guy, Maebe slid very closely past her, making sure to remain face to face. She paused when she was exactly across from Cami, and shook her head. "Don't be sorry about that. I wanted to meet you." She wanted many things. "Finding you here instead of him was a blessing in disguise." She continued to slide by, and finally turned towards Otto's room. It looked a little less like a bomb had gone off, and she just assumed he had Cami to thank for that. But she remembered that couch, and what had happened - or at least started - on it. So she moved to it like she owned the entire room, and flopped down against it. Her legs lifted up to lounge, and her arms rested on the back of the couch. This was hers, her body language said. And soon, so would Cami be, her eyes said. "Sit down. Let's chat."

Out of practice at playing this game Cami couldn't help the grin that split across her face at how very close Maebe got on the way into her shared apartment. The islander didn't consider herself a poacher or a thief, actually finding people in concrete relationships that didn't discuss the possibility of an open relationship with their partner despicable. But just because she wasn't about to shut the door, throw the lock, and tear off her clothes didn't mean she couldn't have a little bit of fun. Eyes a little wider than normal she turned towards the obvious vixen, settling down just out of Maebe's reach. " Did you? I was concerned after you were so brief on Twitter that you were just sort-of humoring me. Not everyone's very big on technology though and I can see you as a more face-to-face sort of person." Oh lord there was the accent coming out to play. It was a bit like a train wreck in slow motion and Camille could see it coming. It started with the accent, thickening because it was her Number One attraction, the thing that made her stand out. Then she'd start to lean in closer. Perhaps laugh a little more, until she was all but in the other person's lap, but the last move was always theirs. She didn't have a whole lot of time or energy for somebody who wasn't willing to take that tiny extra step to seal the deal. Crossing her legs up under her lotus-style, to make that shimmying move across the seats of the couch that much harder, Cami smiled again. "Chat sounds nice. You're my first guest, yanno." Guest was perhaps a little generous a term but she didn't mind it. It was exciting in and of itself!

Maebe's lips tilted downward quickly into a very pronounced pout. "You were the only person concerned about me. I appreciated that." But the pout was gone, wafting away as if it had never been there - which, if one were speaking in terms of actual emotion, it really hadn't. "But no, I wasn't humoring you. That implies I wasn't interested in what you had to offer." As she said this, Cami was leaning in, crawling closer to her lap. She watched the slow and careful movements, a too-obvious dance that reminded her of her early days, when she was seducing people for fun, and not to turn the world as ugly as she was. For a moment, Cami reminded her of America, and the carefree joy of touch and taste for nothing more than its original intent. Pleasure. How nice, it must be. Maebe's arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her hard until Cami fell into her lap. She giggled; the lightest, girliest sound, but inside she was laughing the ugliest of laughter. Pretty little things like Cami did not get ruined by her. They were immune, but no less desirable. She was being offered something sweet, and felt the ache of cavities warning her that there was an abundance of sweet in her life already. Then she remembered whose couch she was about to take Cami on, and smiled genuinely as the sour taste flooded her senses once more. "That's a genuine honor, being your first." The giggle that escaped now was softer, more knowing. Being Cami's first visitor would be the only first she was going to get. "I'm aching to help you christen this place as home."

If, even for an instant, Cami had been good enough at reading people to realize the spider she'd just gotten entangled with she would have done something different. Something like gone straight for the Raid, perhaps, or thrown the unfairly-attractive woman out of the room on her incredibly nice a**. Never would she mind being someone's treat or even a cavity that would require work later, everyone needed something sweet every now and then. Being used to leave a message or make a statement that would hurt someone? No. She'd done that all of once, unknowingly, and never wanted to be in that position again. Unfortunately Maebe was far too good at what she did to blip off of Camille's rusty radar. Here was a woman who had perfected everything that Vanessa had tried to teach her child. Smile through everything, be pretty and perfect, no one would ever suspect you for anything but what they wanted you to be. Cami wanted her to be friendly, wanted her to be fun, and that was precisely what she got. She hadn't expected to be spilled out into the blonde's lap but she didn't resist much, draping one arm around Maebe's shoulders, the other casually resting on her own knee. Unable to resist the hand across the other woman's shoulders lightly toyed with a curl of her hair. " Aching? That just makes me worry even more. Like you said, I'm concerned for your well-being. Is there anything I can do to help?" Cami's own laughter was a bit fuller than before, the tingling rush that came with flirting making her want to wiggle and curl her toes. This was problematic. It was also Maebe's first, middle, and last names: trouble.

"I like when you worry about me." Maebe's voice was soft, and slithered across the skin in front of her, as she leaned in to breathe against Cami's neck. "You hardly know me, but you were worried for me. I notice these things. I don't take them for granted, like other people. And I reward them, too." She was laughing now, a gentle shake that bounced the girl in her lap. "Don't worry about helping me. I want to help you. I want to help you out of that shirt, for example." She leaned back, just enough to give Cami a bright, almost cheerful grin - as if she hadn't just said something wicked. "But some people wouldn't consider that very helpful. So tell me something, Cami." Her eyes wandered again, distracted by the visual orchestra of the girls lovely features. "Cami, with your dazzling hair and your playful little smile. With all your thoughtfulness and that little mischief hiding behind those eyes. Tell me." Maebe's hands dropped just under the hem of Cami's shirt, brushing her fingertips under the edges. Skin, glorious and warm, waited beneath to be touched. "How can I help you?"

Immediately Cami remembered that it had been almost six months since she'd last gotten between the sheets with anyone but her own faithful, battery-powered, friend named Jimmy. Fingers against skin with all-new nerve endings from where they had grown back from being burnt tingled from the sudden contact of fingertips that were not her own. Eyelids closed halfway for a moment as she gave up trying to be a good person, gave up doing anything but enjoying her ten seconds of pure physical pleasure. One nail, perfectly rounded to a dull edge, skimmed across the top of Maebe's collar beneath her hair as the fluffy-haired trainee made a thoughtful sound. "How can you help me? Hmmm..." Openly flirtatious, clearly interested, the finger ran down over Maebe's collarbone before stopping. "Tell me what the deal is with you and Otto and we might be able to play. But, you see, I'm one of those people who doesn't like to poach on a friend. So as very pretty, and very interesting, as you are I'll have to settle for treating you to ice cream if you're tied up with one of my best friends." And it was killing her to say it. Yet the last thing she wanted was to put a fresh layer of hurt-lacquer over the chips she'd been making in Otto's shield. He was deeply important to her, the first friend to openly use the word in relation to Camille, and not even what was likely to be fantastic sex could make up for such a transgression.

Just the flutter of closing eyelids was enough of an answer for Maebe. She was already sliding her gentle hands up Cami's soft back when the girl tried to respond with words, causing her to pause and listen as carefully as she could. Which wasn't very carefully at all - a woman's skin felt so silky smooth, and impossible not to touch. But she listened. And when she heard Otto's name, she imperceptibly stilled. She'd already guessed that Cami was Otto's lover, from the simple fact that she lived here now. She had been so pleased when Cami seemed receptive to her regardless of this fact - it made her tingly to think of Otto's face catching them locked together, writhing in the desperate tempo moments before a grand finale. Yes, that would have been ideal. But instead, Cami was asking her if she and Otto.. Warning bells went off in her head. They were best friends. It still turned her on to know that she was about to take his best friend, but it also made her wonder why the question had even surfaced. Why Cami would ever think that Maebe and Otto were anything at all. Did Twittertalk do this? Or had Otto said something she couldn't have expected? "I can tell you exactly what me and Otto were." She breathed out in an exhale, shifting to get comfortable against the couch while pulling Cami down on top of her. The soft curves of feminine bodies felt delightfully warm and comfortable against one another. She knew she wanted the girl in many varied ways, and that was comforting. Arousal was important. "His girlfriend died." Straight to the point. "I found him, drunk and alone. I gave him what he needed, and he gave me what I needed." Her lips turned up in a smirk. "And then I gave him what he needed, again. And he gave me - you get the picture. There was a lot of giving involved. We're both such selfless individuals. But that's the last time I've seen him. And clearly, if he's managed to acquire such a delightful best friend, he's doing better." Maebe made it sound like she'd been giving herself out as thoughtful charity. The truth couldn't have been further from the opposite. "If he wanted more, he certainly hasn't made a case for it. You're the one sleeping beside him every night, not me. Does that answer your question, I hope?"

Woah. Woah.Should she have been letting herself be drawn down? Sometimes the redhead thought that she was just a little too accommodating, a little too willing to be drawn into the web that Maebe was weaving. Yet there was still room to say no, still room to disentangle herself, and should Otto come home and see her laying on top of the blonde...it was easy enough to explain away. Or so she was telling herself rather strongly through her teeth. Kidana was blessedly silent having fled the moment sex had even been put on the table -- Cami wasn't sure what she'd do if she had a second voice in her head next to her conscience. Especially if Ki had told her to just go for it. Her mind reeled through several thoughts and emotions rather quickly. The first was rather akin to OH NO! Otto had had a girlfriend?! She was dead?! No wonder he was so hard to chip into, so closed-off, if he'd lost someone so close to him as that. The second was a misplaced kinship in that what Maebe had done for Otto, in Maebe's description of the event, was something Cami herself would have done for a friend who was receptive. Being the rebound was never easy but it didn't seem to have harmed the girl in any appreciable way. "Almost beside him." She murmured. "Separate beds." Wiggling her hips slightly she settled down more comfortably against Maebe, lips curving in a smile as wicked as Lilith would have worn at the beginning of time. "But if you don't have an understanding..." Now it was Maebe's turn to feel fingers against her skin, only at the edges of her clothes, hardly daring more. Cami, after all, let her partner make the first move.

Jesus. Separate beds? They were practically an old married couple. Maebe started to wonder about Cami's experience level with boys, when she felt the knowing tingles of nerves brought to life by gentle, playful touching. Her hands responded instantly, still resting on Cami's back. "It's sweet, that you're worried about intruding on him. I hope he appreciates what a good friend you are." He probably did, because he was Otto, and despite the seeds of malice she'd tried so very hard to plant inside of him, his heart still shone a particularly blinding shade of gold. This, she realized, was why she came back for more. She wasn't quite done tarnishing him, yet. But Otto was a thought best left for another day. Right now, there was a beautiful, willing woman in her arms, and she was ready to show her exactly why letting Maebe into this room had been the best choice she'd ever made. "And now, I think it's time I get a taste of what that boy's missing by sleeping in a separate bed with you." Her hands were on the shirt, pulling it off over Cami's head a little rougher than she might have expected. What could Maebe say? Waiting to clear up the situation had turned her a little.. impatient. Her face was buried in moments, and her hands were soon lost in places as mysterious as the couch cushions, but hiding much better treasure.
