Background: The son of Lord Aper and Lady Baca (Sister to King Cervus' mother), his father was the court herald of Cervus' father. By blood Alces is Cervus' cousin. Alces is the 5th child freed from the curse. He was given the honorary title of "page" to the King, until he aged enough to fill the shoes of his father as Court Herald. When he reached his teen years he was elevated to "Crier" then, as an adult, to full Herald of His Majesty, King Cervus.

Personality: Alces was a loving child who craved and demanded attention much of the time. He liked to be cuddled, but liked even more to be shown off to others. If ignored, he would result to vocalizing his displeasure (crying loudly) until someone paid attention to him. Fortunately, his voice is pleasant even in wailing mode, so it didn't tend to grate too much on one's nerves.

Alces grew into a talkative and energetic teen of about 13 human years equivalent. He was charming, kind hearted, and not the least bit shy. He loved to speak and especially to tell stories. He didn't like to be alone, and would seek others to be around. He also relished being paid attention to.

Now as an adult, he is more mature and less dependent on others, but still loves to be social. He is very skilled in courtly behavior and voice heraldry, and very much an entertaining showman to boot. He is a charmer and an actor at heart, loving to perform for an audience. Good natured and kind, he is a gentle soul.

May 31st - Discovered that I am a Kithain.
June 2nd - Traveled to Tir Nan Og and released Alces from the curse!
June 3rd - Alces met Rosa. It wasn't the best of beginnings, but it went fairly well.
June 4th - Alces met Equus for the first time. He seemed to like him a great deal.
June 6th - He met Filix for the first time. They seemed to get along just fine.
June 24th - Alces transformed into a teenager! He is now 13 years old.
He also became the Crier of the Court.
July 4th-Went to round up the horses with King Cervus, and Equus.
While there, Equus transformed into a teen!
July 8th - Meets Aesculus for the first time! He seemed to like him immediately
as he has with all the others.
July 20th -Meets Ursa for the first time!
August 2nd -Meets Muris for the first time!
August 9th -Gets his horse Orin with Muris' help.
August 25th -Witnesses Rosa grow up into a beautiful adult!
August 27th -Witnesses Filix grow up into a beautiful adult like her sister!
August 28th -Alces grows up into a handsome young man eek !

June 3rd, 2004"Later in the day I decided to take Alces out to see the gardens in the courtyard. He has been inside most of the time for the past two days or so. We found our way there rather easily. At times it was as though he pointed me in the right direction. I'm sure, even though he may be so young, he remembers a bit about this castle.

Once outside the two of us went for a walk through the gardens. I'm sure he enjoyed being outside and getting some fresh air. He seemed to like getting down and crawling through the grass. For a while we sat down near some bushes and he crawled through the grass and stopped to look at a few of the flowers as I watched. On our way back to his chambers we discovered Ahnna was in the rose garden with Rosa. Alces hadn't said much. He smiled a lot though as she was 'talking' to him. After a while he began to say a few things to her. I'm not sure if they understood one another all that well, however, through body language they seemed to get what the other was talking about. When Alces had pointed at a rose as she had done, Rosa seemed to get a bit defensive of the rose. He seemed a bit surprised at first, since I think all he was trying to do was show it to her. I don't think he had any intention of hurting the rose, but Rosa wouldn't have known that. He seemed to understand her though, and left the rose alone after that. When we left he seemed sad that he had to go. When the two young Fey spend more time with each other I'm sure they will get along great. Both of them seem to be quite friendly. It will be nice that Alces will most likely have a friend.

After we returned to his chambers I read to him for a while from one of the books I had found for a while before he finally fell asleep. I think he enjoyed going outside for once and meeting another Fey. It was most likely just the fact that he was able to interact with others."

June 6th, 2004"Alces has been his normal self, very loving and quiet for the most part. I bought him another stuffed animal to put on his bed with his other plushie. He loves this one just as much as he enjoyed the first one. If all goes well he will soon have a decoration to put somewhere in his chambers. I have not taken him with me to Gaia at all; for now I think its best if he were to stay here. He's used to it. Once he is a bit older I will take him to see Gaia. I'm sure he might like seeing something new eventually.

Yesterday, he met Filix. Such a sweet girl she is. Alces seemed to like her right off. I'm sure that in time, the two of them will become friends. He also liked her Kithain, Neith. He greeted her with 'goodbye,' and although I corrected him he repeated that. However, earlier this morning he did say 'hello' for the first time when I walked into the room to check up on him after coming back from the store with his newest toy. The young boy still has the flower Neith gave him, however he seemed a bit hesitant at first while looking at it, due to the experience with Rosa. Once he knew he wasn't going to get in trouble for having it, he waved it around, and decided he would put it on the small table by his bedside. He looked at it a few times today, but other then that did nothing more with it. I can see why Alces likes both Neith and Filix, the two of them seem to be very nice. Hopefully we will both get to see them soon.

Nothing much happened today. I read to Alces again, and as usual, he enjoyed looking at the pictures in the books. After reading he ate a bit, and tried to walk back over to me as I was sitting down near his bed. He managed to take a few steps before falling over. He laughed it off though, and got up to try again. This time, I was next to him, helping him along by holding onto one of his small hands. He did much better then, and walked a short distance with my help until he felt like sitting down. Alces also tried to fly, however, that didn't work out nearly as well as his short walk did. He fluttered his wings a few times, and managed to get less then an inch off of the ground after several tries. In time, he will learn how to fly I'm sure, and get better at walking. But hey, you have to start somewhere."

June 11th, 2004"These past few days have been rather uneventful. Nothing out of the ordinary has happened. Most mornings Alces continues to practice walking, and flying. However, he has got quite a ways to go with flying. He is now able to stand up by himself for the most part, as well as take a few steps. I have noticed though, that Alces still seems to like to crawl. He's still quite young, and I'm sure that once he gets more comfortable with walking he will do just fine. After all, walking is quite new to him. He is turning out to be such a sweet little boy. Alces has remained a kind and caring little Fey since the moment I met him. I am almost certain he will have good manners once he is older.

Neither of us has run into any of the other Fey and their Kithain, most likely due to the fact we haven't left Alces' chambers all that much in the past days. I am quite reluctant to take Alces to Gaia just yet. King Cervus is such a tiny Fey out there, and I wonder how small that would make Alces if I were to take him there. I don't know what I would do if something horrible were to happen to the poor little guy. Perhaps I will take him into Gaia for something to do anyway. Of course, I will have to make sure I have a safe, comfortable place to keep him while we are there. That way, I can hopefully prevent him from getting hurt or lost as best as I can. Before I take him though, I will have to be sure and find a tiny stuffed animal. Something that a doll might use might work. That way, he will at least have something to hold onto in his tiny form for comfort if he gets scared.

Every afternoon and evening before putting the young boy to bed, I read to Alces from the books we find around his chambers and in the library. He enjoys listening to them a great deal, and has now taken to looking at not only the pictures but the words as well. Although I doubt he can understand what the 'scribbles' on the pages are; but I'm glad he is at least showing some interest at such a young age. Alces also continues to enjoy his walks in the courtyard and through the halls of the beautiful palace. His vocabulary has also grown a bit larger, not much; but it continues to grow slowly but steadily each day."

June 21st, 2004"A few days ago, while visiting Gaia, Alces and I ran into Rosa and Ahnna. Alces, as usual, seemed quite happy to be with others. He did his usual wave to them, and his smile grew even larger once again. I had been reading to him, and when Rosa had asked him to come over and sit with her, in her own little way, he had seemed delighted to. Seeing as how he is very small in that world, and cannot fly as of yet I carried him over. When I hadn't set him down in the right spot Rosa seemed to be somewhat demanding and pointed out the exact spot she wanted him to sit at. As before, he had no way of getting from the arm of my chair to the arm of Ahnna's chair, so once again I moved him, and was sure to put him exactly where Rosa had wanted him.

When she had gone to hug him, he seemed surprised and somewhat uncomfortable at the whole thing. However, that soon changed when he realized that he was getting attention and instantly became happy and content. Rosa is a sweet little girl, and I'm glad Alces will most likely soon find she is a good friend. Alces seemed to enjoy the little Fey's singing, and I have to admit it wasn't all that bad. It looks like Ahnna is doing a wonderful job and Rosa is learning quickly. After we had left and returned to his chambers he asked where Rosa was several times. When I answered him he seemed content with that and fell asleep shortly after.

Since then he has learned to say a few more words, just the simple ones though. So far, he hasn't said any of the 'larger' words. I'm glad that he enjoys reading so much; or rather, enjoys me reading out loud to him. Alces has carried a few books over to me a few times when he wants to be read to. He has also improved greatly with his walking. He can't walk for a long period of time yet, but has managed to walk around his chamber for a short while, moving things here and there, as well as carrying the books over to me. "

June 25th, 2004"Now that I have time to finish up the previous day's entry, I shall. Shortly after Cervus greeted me, he appointed me the Crier. So now I am no longer a page! I told him I shall do my best, and that's exactly what I will do. My kithain says I'm already on my way. I had been shouting to her from across the coutyard to come over and see a certain flower. When she had come over she laughed and gave me a pat on the back, then told me I had a powerful voice. I suppose that's a good thing, after all, I'll need to make sure I speak loud enough as well as clear to announce important news and the likes.

A great thing happened this evening! On our way back to my chambers, after one of our frequent walks through Gaia we saw Rosa! I found it much easier to fly in Gaia, perhaps it is because I am so much smaller there. I was able to fly from Xannyia's shoulder down to the seat Rosa was half-asleep on. The young girl seemed happy to see me as well. I was so glad that I was able to talk to her for once. I can't wait until she too grows up. I'm sure she will be a very beautiful young teen. Rosa sure likes shiny things. She seemed to like my bracer around my wrist, especially when it sparkled in the light.

I'll have to be sure to get her a present soon; something shiny and very beautiful. Next time I head into Gaia I'll have Xannyia take me shopping for something like that. Hopefully I'll be able to find the right gift without too much shopping. Rosa wanted me to sing a song to her, however, I don't know the song she had hoped I would sing. Perhaps Xannyia will be able to teach me, that way next time I see her I can sing it with her. Also, I'll have to find a good story to tell her since I sort of promised her that I would tell her a story. Tomorrow I'll head to the library and go through a few of the books for the younger children if I find any. If not, I'll have Xannyia take me shopping for some books as well.

I haven't gotten the chance to see Filix recently, nor too much of Equus. Now that I think about it, I haven't had the honor of greeting the queen either. She'll be very happy that another one of the Fey has grown up. I'll have to remember to try and find her one of these days, the sooner the better. Same with Filix and Equus."
