Rene ran over the mental checklist he had stored away in the recesses of his mind. ...It looked like he had everything... Soda, popcorn, various bits of junkfood. He glanced to the side where there where a pile of blankets and pillows set up, just in case they decided to stretch out on the floor ended of the futon. It still felt like he was missing something though... What was it... His sister was leaning against his door frame watching him after having grown curious as he darted back and forth from his room and the kitchen.
"What am I missing..." He mumbled, hands on his hips. He had it all right? The movies sat next to his entertainment center so it wasn't those. ....Maybe it was just his imagination? Ah well... if he was missing anything, Rene was sure Mikhail would be the one to notice.
The dark haired teen flopped on the futon and pulled out his phone. It was almost time. Mikhail would be getting here soon. Rene's gaze traveled from his phone to Thea. ...Movie night was great and all, but he just hoped Mikhail survived meeting the family.

Mikhail walked down the sidewalk in a nicer neighborhood similar to his own, though some distance from his own little suburb. The same multiple story homes, some with high security fences, others without. he adjusted the strap of his backpack, his fingers fixing the sunshine bright bowtie at his throat. His backpack was stuffed with a few necessities, pajamas, an extra change of cloths, toothbrush, and some exotic junk food his housekeeper sophia brought him home from her last vacation. standard overnight things that anyone would bring to a friends house. He couldn't help smiling happily, even though he was more than a little nervous. It wasn't exactly like he was nervous about spending time with Rene. He had been spending a lot of time with his tiny little friend. Like a lot. Which made him happy, really, but he tried not to think about that to much.
That was just to much in depth thinking and he had no one to talk to about it.
So he pushed those thoughts to the back of his mind, even though his face still had a very silly grin on it, and his cheeks were tinged with a faint blush that was almost completely camouflaged by the natural darkness of his skin.
Today would be officially the first time he would meet Rene's family. He had had some minor interactions with his sister Thea over the phone, but he had never actually met her or his younger sister in person. And he had never yet met his parents, which was a little bit of a daunting concept. Most of his parents friends did not have children, and so did not bother to talk to him, treating him more as part of the home decore then a person, simply because the did not know how to interact with someone less than a third their age. The others treated him as if he WERE their age which made him horribly uncomfortable and out of his depth.
The idea of walking into a full family setting was akin to walking into an alien world. He paused at the front of the walkway to Rene's house, adjusting that eye meltingly bright bowtie one more time, before resolutely walking up the the door and ringing the door bell. Which was answered with a high clear voice like the sound of a hyperactive chiming bell.
"ILL GET IIIIIIIT!!! " which was followed by the furious pounding of tiny booted feet on hardwood floor. It was then followed by some thuds and an " IM OK. IM OK. " and more stomping as someone made a mad dash for the front door from the second floor.
Mikhail felt his eyes going wide as he just stared at the closed front door as if it were the most fascinating and horrifying thing in the world.

Oh god oh god oh god no.
Rene darted out of his room and down the stares in a fury, nearly repeating his sister's earlier process of falling down the last two stairs. "FRANCESCIA YOU GET THE HECK AWAY FROM THAT DOOR." Rene screeched. This in turn only had the tiny girl wriggling her brows furiously at her older brother as she grinned widely before reaching for the door.
Rene just glared and growled at the tinier girl before launching himself over the coffee table. The little girl gave a shriek and darted for the door in a last ditch attempt to get there before her older brother. Too bad for her the two collided and ended up in a heep on the floor. "s**t...." Rene grumbled as he rubbed his head, having knocked it against the wall.
"OOOOOOH! YOU SAID A BAD WOOOOOORD!"
The dark haired boy just groaned and continued to try and free himself when a third set of feet joined the group.
....s**t. Again.
If Rene though Francescia answering the door was a bad thing, he forgot to take into account Amalthea. "You're boyfriend's here." She muttered as she glanced through the peep hole, which earned a flustered noise from Rene. "THEA." The door clicked as she twisted the handle.

Mikhail blinked as he heard something that sounded akin to someone taking. Shrieks, and thumps... growing? The distinct sound of people hitting the floor. Good god, were they being murdered? Should he do something? He raised up a bit on his tip toes, taking advantage of his great height to peek in through the tiny decorative window set into the upper most part of the front door.
He had just enough time to see what he assume was Rene fighting a giant ball of curly hair through the distorted wavy glass, before he heard a familiar, yet somehow not, voice ring out. Your boyfriends here.
His face flared to a bright red, regardless of his dark coloration, to were anyone with eyes would be able to tell he was blushing. And a pair of eyes did find him. In act the face that eyes that studied him a bit to carefully for his comfort were set into a face that he knew very well. Sure, the hair had a bit more of a blue cast to it, and the shade of the eyes was a bit different, and there was a slight swelling along the hips and chest that his friend certainly did NOT have. But for all intensive purposes it was Rene's face who looked up at him with a smirk, looking all to pleased with herself, like a feline who knew she had just in fact caught the canary, dressed in an oh so short miniskirt and button up white shirt, and big fluffy house slippers.
Mikhail didn't think he could blush any-brighter. But oh look, he was wrong.
" Uh. Um. U-uh... " He just kind of stood there, suddenly completely tounge tied and embarrassed, he couldn't seme to get any words out, his stutter killing the words in his throat as the short little Rene look alike watched him with a very predatory (although not entirely unfriendly) look.
" R-r-r-rene? " his voice came out as a choked squeak.

While Mikhail might not have noticed, Rene was just as red in the face as he was from his sister's comment about Mikhail being his boyfriend. "Down here..." He sighed from his position on the floor as he willed the damn blush to die down. ....And for his little sister to stop using him as a chair, and kindly climb off him. "Hey man..." He said softly to catch his friends attention and help him focus. "Did you have any trouble getting here?"
He grunted as Francescia finally bolted off him before hauling himself up. "Uhm... My room's up stairs..." He murmured, jerking a thumb in the direction of the stairs. The question was, did he want to subject Mikhail to his parent's now, after literally just getting a crash course introduction on how the River's children answer the door. ...Mikhail wasn't even in the house yet!
"I'm uh... sorry about uh... all that.. Runt can get a bit too excited when people are suppose to come over..." Even if the company wasn't for her.

" no, none at all. I googled the directions, its p-pretty much a straight shot from your house to mine, just a bit of a w-walk. "
Thea was still shifting those shrewd gray eyes between her freakishly almost identical older brother, and the tall boy at the door. And she was making Mikhail very nervous. Francescia scampered out of the room with the dainty sound of teeny tiny feet in pink combat boots stomping on wooden floors and up the stairs. It was then followed by a " Ooooh, Makeup. THEA LETS DO MAKEOVERS " and then a clattering of what sounded like plastic compacts and tubes hitting the ground.
Thea's face seemed to lose all its color, and she bolted for the the staircase, hesitating only a moment at the first step, as if she were reluctant to miss out on a good show. But then then a small clatter of things sounded from upstairs with an "oops" following right behind, and the short girl scampered up with the slapping of her soft slippers on the floor.
Mikhail gulped as both females disappeared " Uh.. I-its ok... You alright? " He leaned in a little bit into the house, as if not sure if he should actually step inside or not. He had missed the majority of the scuffle between the oldest and youngest river offspring, but there had been some definite crashing going on before the door had been opened.

"Ah, sorry. I probably should have wrote you some directions before hand... I can give you a ride home tomorrow so you don't hafta walk all that way." Rene ran a hand through his hair slightly. It was getting kinda long now... The dark haired boy glanced at it for a moment wondering if he should keep growing it out or just cut it short again. He then grinned devilishly at Thea as their younger sister called for her. "Go on Thea. Go have a makeover with your sister." He hissed quietly before his voice suddenly got louder to remind Francescia not to forget the Nail Polish.
"Hmm? Oh I'm fine. Like I said, she gets easily excited so this is kinda a normal thing for us. Our parents have long since stopped answering the door." They only needed to get bowled over by their children once to learn that lesson. "You can come in you know." Rene teased as he glanced at Mikhail.
"Did you, um, want to let my parents know you were here or would you rather go hide in my room where it's safer?"

At the prompting from their older brother, Franky gave a delighted squeal as if has indeed forgotten the fact that her sister had a proverbial treasure trove of nail polish. There was suddenly another crash a sound like a small glass jar breaking. A sound very much like an over heating tea kettle sounded from upstairs ( Probably made by Thea ) and the door slammed, muffling the sounds of young high pitched feminine voices.
Mikhail only cast one more way glance at the staircase before stepping carefully into the house, only having to duck slightly to keep a low hanging, which probably wouldn't have even touched a head of any of the rivers family even if they jumped, spider plant from catching in his dreadlocks. He gave a shy smile, finally starting to relax now that it was just him and his best friend " Well they probably got tired of getting run over. " He teased lightly and only half-halfheartedly.
" Um... What do you t-think? Should I meet them now, if I don't, will they c-come looking for us l-later? " Mikhails stutter was suddenly worse, made more prominent by nerves. He was used to meeting adults, but almost never were they the parents of a friend. Usually just business associates of his fathers. It made it a much more important even to Mikhail then usual. The last thing he wanted was to offend them and not be allowed to come back over. The thought made a sharp wrenching pain go through his chest.
Yeah... " Probably best to try to make a good impression r-right? "

Rene just continued to grin devilishly as he listened to the clatter his sisters caused. "Oh, yeah... Sorry about the plants." Rene chuckled lightly as he rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. "My moms kinda... big into them.. It's a little embarrassing sometimes." It made her happy though, and that was all Rene cared about. "That is exactly what happened and that is also the story I'm sticking with." Rene commented. He was not about to tell his friend about the time both he and Thea had almost taken a serious tumble down the stairs before them in an battle of epic proportions to get to the door first. Nope. Certainly not. "It's up to you. We can always skip it for now and go find them if we need an intermission from the movies?" It would be a good excuse to go restock on junk food and soda anyway. "Seriously man, don't sweat it. My parents are easy to get along with. You'll be fine. Heck, mom will probably try to adopt you at some point..."

Mikhail smiled, turning to look at the plant. He was just a reminder of how very tall he was, he was eye level with the plant, looking at it curiously. There were not plants inside his home, and he found them charming. Mikhail's home was all modern lines. Lots of white and cream walls and stainless steel appliances, but not so much in the green growing things. The only exception being the little herb garden growing in the window of the kitchen that their housekeeper had planted and maintained.
" It's alright, I think they are nice. Like your house has more life to it b-because of them ' he turned his head, looking at Rene from over his shoulder, the small smile still on his face as he adjusted some of the hanging plant life that he had disturbed.
Suddenly Mikhails brows furrowed. He swore it felt like the floor was shaking. What the heck...? Was it an earth quake? Like the scene from Jurassic park, the water in a vase of flowers on the side table started to shake, and suddenly a large mountain of flying fur came barreling down the hallway, barking.
On a collision course right with Rene, who was standing in the only path for a creature of that size to get through at that speed.

"There are a lot of them so... There's your warning I guess. However, my room is plant free." For now. Rene often wondered how long it would be before his mothers other babies invaded his room. Rene blinked before a sudden realization came over him. "Uhm... You may wanna move." The dark haired boy had just enough time to turn and face the rapidly approaching wall of fur before the thing leapt into the air, tackling Rene right back to the ground. Rene grunted loudly, the air knocked from his lungs. "D-down Hammy!" He wheezed as he tried to shove the colossal beast off him. Eventually Rene managed to shove the dog off, and grabbed it's collar before it decided to turn it's attention on poor Mikhail. "Mikhail, meet Doomhammer. Also known as Hammy."

Mikhail had never had a dog before, and it took him a moment to realize that is what it was. He didn't know they could get that big. He couldn't say for certain, but he bet if he put the dog on a scale, and then Rene on the scale, the dog would probably out weight his friend. " D-doomhammer? " He wasn't quite certain he heard it right. They had given their dog a name from World of Warcraft?
Mikhail had taken a couple of steps towards them, concerned as Rene had just hit the ground a second time in less than five minutes, but his friend was swallowed up under the mass of wiggling fur. Attention drawn by the other boys movement, the dog looked up and eyeballed Mikhail for a moment, before its mouth opened in a big doggy grin, it let out a happy bark, and proceeded to lick all over Rene's face, seeming to completely disregard his command to get down.
She was down silly human. He was just further down than she was.
From down a hallway a feline stalked quietly, before hopping up a few steps and turning to perch, watching the whole show from slited eyes, as if the whole lot of humans were amusing, but only just barely tolerated. After a few moments of watching the boys struggle with the pony sized dog, it turned and slinked up the stairs with a swish of its tail, letting out a plaintive meow at the uppermost stair. Doomhammer sat down, ears perking to attention.
Because she happened to be looming over Rene at the time the feline meowed, she also happened to sit down right on Rene, looking up to the staircase. Another demanding meow had Hammy give a happy mark and stampede off of Rene up the stairs.
Mikhail watched it all with wide eyes, but as the dog scampered up the stairs after its feline friend, he darted over to help Rene get up. Or at least make sure he hadn't been crushed to death. " U'uh, are you ok? "

"Don't let the name fool you. Hammy is the nicest dog you will ever meet. I would bet anything on it." Rene grunted as he tried in vain to get the dog to sit. "The name? Well... We play just a weeee bit to much World of Warcraft. I think Frankie was the one to suggest the name though... She also named the cat. He kinda fits his name more then Hammy does..." Rene squawked as Doomhammer sat right on him. "No. Hammy! Off!" He whined trying to shove the dog off him. God she was heavy. When had she gotten so heavy! "You know... It's a sad day when the cat has the dog trained and you don't.." Rene grumbled from the floor. "That was Doombringer. And I am okay." He said, smiling as he picked himself off the floor, again. "Lemme show you were my room is so you can put your stuff down."

The fact that the younger sibling was the one to name the dog doomhammer brought a startled laugh from his mouth. The dog was full grown, at least he hoped it was full grown, so it was at least several years old. Which mean if they had adopted it as a puppy, Franky couldn't have been more then what... five? The thought of a freckled face curly haired little girl looking down at a small baby ball of fuzz and deeming it to be named Doomhammer was probably one of those most hilarious thoughts in his mind.
" Well she certainly has a flair for dramatic names " Rene said softly, more to himself that Rene, this time helping his friend up with one large hand on his friends arm to help him get up. It only served to remind him how much smaller Rene was than him. Now that he thought about it, he would guess that even thought the dog seemed like a living natural disaster made of fur and muscle, she probably took great care not to hurt her humans. The proof that Rene just seemed to have had the wind knocked out of him was proof of that in his mind, making him believe what he said about Hammys good nature.
" Oh well, you know what they say. Cat's don't have families, t-they have servants. " Mikhail seemed to notice once again the close proximity, and let go his Rene's arm, sense there was no reason to keep holding him upright. " O-oh, right " Mikhail took a step back, turning to grab his bag from were he had dumped it by the door when Rene had been tackled, picking it up and slinging it over his shoulder. " Lead the way! "
His cheeks were still blushed faintly darker than the rest of his face, but paired with a happy grin, he just looked like any other teenager excited for a geeky movie marathon. He really needed to work on getting this damn blushing under control. But that was an issue for a different day.

"She use to sit in our laps when she was younger and watch us play. She dressed up as the Lich King one year for Halloween." That had been pretty cool. They had all dressed up as various characters of the game, even going as far as to drag their cousin Haunye in on it. "It's never a dull moment with her around, that's for sure. And the cat totally walks around here like he owns us all so I believe it." Rene just laughed and waved a hand, signalling Mikhail to follow. "I know we've got a bunch of junk food for this but we can get some decent food if you really want." He said as he walked up the stairs before turning a corner. Rene pointed to a few doors, and explained what each was. Frankie's room. Thea's. His parents and a spare room that was occasionally invaded by Hauyne when she was over. "And this, is my room. It's not much but I like it."
