Goretti had been practicing for a long time for this; he had ranked up to super senshi a while ago, and for the longest time all he could think about was showing off his new skills—trying to make Lenka proud. He had almost run there the night Julienne upgraded him, but it was already late and he didn't want to get anyone in trouble. And then one day passed, and then the next.
And Goretti had a goal.
He couldn't show Lenka his awesome new power (and attack) until after he'd gotten a mastery of it. Which, he was still sort of failing at, but he was trying. And he basically had it mastered. Mostly. Sort of.
Well, the point was, he couldn't keep it to himself, and with school so close to being done, he didn't want to wait to talk to Lenka until summer. So, he'd called her, and was waiting at their rendezvous point. It hadn't occurred to him to stay unpowered and then surprise her with a burst of super power; instead he was playing hopscotch by himself with the leftover chalk outline from some kids who must have been playing earlier that day. He was by the fountain, adding a little extra twist to see how long he could hold his breath while playing hopscotch, but he already had too much energy that it was probably a good thing he was trying to work some of it out.

Lenka had known Goretti had gone to super stage, Julienne had ruined that surprise about a month ago, but this was going to be the first time she got to see her best friend as a super senshi…and she felt so proud.
So stupidly proud.
The chibi made her way to the area and beamed when she felt it, the power of a super level chibi nearby. That was her Goretti all right, she knew it. Now that she wouldn’t feel so pressured to take care of him, they could do a lot more patrols this summer…now that school was finally almost done, she could justify being out all night again. It was mind boggling that she would be going into eighth grade this next year…and after that, it would be high school…
Lenka sighed heavily, though put on a smile when she finally spotted Goretti. “Well hey there stranger. You’re looking mighty amazing right now. Did you change your hair or something?” She wasn’t going to ruin his surprise for her…and she wanted him to tell her he was super. Because…clearly she was learning the art of tact. And that was a good thing.

Goretti loudly released all the breath he'd been holding and spun quickly. "Lenka! You made it! I haven't changed my hair in a while," he said, mussing it up to try and get it out of his eyes. He needed a haircut but probably hadn't noticed.
"No!" he blurted, far too excited, "No, it wasn't my hair that changed, though! Look!"
He trotted closer and gestured towards his outfit. "Isn't this awesome? No wings yet, but I'm working on them! And I figured out my attack and everything! So we can go out and patrol more now together, right? —I mean, I was thinking, it's summer, and if my dad and your mom are fine with it, we should have sleepovers or go camping or something! Julienne can come, and we can roast marshmallows and hunt tons of youma! And I mean, I hope I can spar with you some more, and train to get stronger because," he shrugged and seemed almost slightly sheepish. "Well, I mean, you're the strongest, most awesome senshi I know, of course."

Lenka blinked, grinning. “Oh! Oh look at you! You’re a super now!” Man she was good at this. She moved towards the other senshi and hugged him, laughing. “I think that would be a very good idea. All of it.”
She blinked, looking down at her friend. “’retti…you need to grow some. You’re so short!” Either that or she was just freakishly tall…which was true. She was taller than almost everyone in her class…and she was thinking of going out for the basketball team next year.
“You look good though. As a super…and now we can fight together some more…but you know, you know there are worse things out there than just youma. The people are worse than youma, and you have to get used to fighting them, because they’re not going to have any issues fighting you…or hurting you, or even killing you. You know that right?”
Lenka sighed. “I don’t want anything to happen to you. You’re my best friend, and I like you a lot.” And she kind of had a crush on him, but that didn’t matter right now. Seriously.

Goretti watched the girl and smiled again. "Well, good, because I like you a lot, too. And I'm really happy I've got you as a friend! And I'm going to try my hardest to grow bigger! You're so much taller than me, it's like talking to a giant," he laughed, but rocked on his heels shortly after. He knew she was being serious about the people worse than youma—about the people that might actually want to hurt or kill him.
But that wasn't something he spent a lot of time thinking about. The youma were easy to fight, and he'd met a few Chaos people who he was a bit confused about because they didn't seem so bad.
But he'd met others, some that worried him. Some that gave him nightmares.
But none of them had seriously hurt him, and now he was just worried it was only a matter of time before he got into a real mess.
He sighed and then looked back up at Lenka. "Hey…I have a question. Have you ever been seriously hurt? Like, the type of hurt where you had to go to the hospital? Or where your mom noticed?"

Lenka shrugged. “I mean. I don’t let my mom notice. I don’t want her to know that I do this, honestly if she ever found out…I have no idea what I’d do…” She swallowed and pointed to the area of her arm between her gloves and sleeve. There was still the mark from the attack that the evil version of Princess Iris had used. “I wear a lot of long sleeves now, mostly sweatshirts so mom doesn’t find out...
She sighed. “It’s so hard to hid it all, but I don’t want her to worry…and she just thinks it’s me growing up, you know? No big deal. No big deal at all.” The chibi shook her head. “I mean…it’s so hard to keep secrets, honest…but it helps that I have Julienne with me. She makes sure to take good care of me…and that’s what matters, right? I can tell her all of my problems, and she knows just what to do. She’s like a second mom. One that knows all of my secrets.”
She tucked some of her hair behind her ear and looked up at the sky. “I haven’t had to go to the hospital yet, so…that’s a good thing.”

Goretti listened and nodded, looking at the mark on her arm for a long time. "I'm happy you haven't had to go to the hospital, but that doesn't look very good," he said, chewing on his lip. He didn't have any scars, but all he could think about was what would happen if he had been attacked and got an injury like that—what would he tell his dad?
He couldn’t hide it. And he probably couldn't lie. He'd probably have to go crying to Lenka and Julienne, or Caelian—or Tortali.
He paused, and then just seemed to relax.
"You know," he said after a moment. "Even though it's dangerous, I'm really happy I got to be a senshi. I've met so many wonderful, nice people. People that I really trust—and that I really like. I have more people now than ever before that I know I could rely on. You're one of them," he said, though figured Lenka must know she was on that list. "…If you ever get into trouble, you can call me or something. I'll be around to help you, if you need it."
He almost seemed sheepish at the last part, but looked up to meet the girl's gaze. "Always."
