Of course Anise knew that Gypsy and Kwatoko loved each other. That was the whole reason she'd become the Combusken's trainer, after all. The two pokemon also spent almost every moment in each other's company, so it was also no great surprise that one day Anise saw Kwatoko carrying around a pair of eggs, whose shells bore a suspicious resemblance to her pokemons' species and markings.
She was of course happy for her pokemon, and helped rig up a sling to allow Kwatoko to carry the eggs while keeping his hands free. (She'd suggested Kwatoko continue to carry them instead of Gypsy, since as a Fire-type he'd likely make a better incubator.) But the soon-to-be baby pokemon posed a difficulty for Anise: what was she to do with them? She didn't want to just take the children away from their happy parents, but she also didn't want to have so many pokemon traveling with her. As it is, she now had six pokemon, which was the usual team size for pokemon trainers. Most of them were relatively large too, and she kept them out of their pokeballs as much as possible. Any more and her party might become unwieldy, and take more time and resources to care for than seemed reasonable for a traveling healer. It was a dilemma.
By the time the eggs began giving clear, periodic twitches, Anise had come up with a proposed solution. She gathered Gypsy and Kwatoko and sat them down to explain it. "I know you two are proud of your children, and with good reason," she began. "They's beautiful eggs, and you'll be wonderful parents. But it's not practical for me to have eight generally large pokemon around me at all times. I don't want to have to start keeping you guys in pokeballs some of the time, so I have to limit how many stay with me." She paused to gauge her pokemon's reactions. Thankfully they were both calm and level-headed pokemon, and they simply watched her, waiting for her to finish whatever she had to say. So she continued. "So pick one of your children to keep. We'll make sure they other one finds a good home. You don't have to decide which one now, but soon after they hatch we'll start looking for a home for one of the babies. Understand?" The two nodded, and that was all. No disdain, upset, disbelief, or anything of the sort. Thank goodness she had such reasonable pokemon. As she stood up to go check on her other pokemon, the pair started discussing the matter softly among themselves.
In time the eggs hatched, as expected, into a Torchic and a Blitzle. They were near the Howling Forest at the time, and Anise gave the young family some time together as they made their leisurely way towards Katarina. But when they reached the city, she had to ask the pokemon.
She gathered the four of them up again and asked, "Have you decided?" Kwatoko and Gypsy nodded, though not without hesitation. Anise waited patiently for them, and after a moment Kwatoko picked up the Torchic, while Gypsy nudged the Blitzle forward. Anise nodded, then gave them all hugs. "Thank you for being so understanding. We'll find your child a good home. In fact, the decision will be all yours. Whoever wants to train him will have to convince you first." With that assurance made, they headed off toward the Pokemon Center to make good on her promise.
