When Wildland had heard the call of gathering oranges she jumped on her feet and the next second was ready to collect said fruits. It wasn't hunting -- not by a mile but it was a contest, it was something to be won -- and anything that can be won must be her victory.
Beast was flying steadily above her, watching his master run determinedly until they had arrived where the numerous trees had shed their bearings. Wildland made a face at the sweet scent that was in the air, she hated sweet OR sour things, meat was always the best meal and she wouldn't settle for less.
She pushed a large orange with her hoof, shrugging. It wasn't challenging at all, this prey was just... on the ground, but she'd make do with it anyway.

Bare Trees was mostly unnoticed trailing behind her sister, the lighter doe was graceful in her walk but slower than her strong sister. She sighed, Wildland must have forgotten or not heard her when she wanted to go with her, she knew her sister as well, very determined and won't even listen or look at her when she had something she was going after.
Sprig was slightly in front of her, leading the doe to where the garden of oranges were and making sure she wasn't going to get lost. Bare Trees was thankful at least for her loyal companion.
"If only they understood me as you do, Sprig." She murmured mostly to herself before finally arriving at the field of oranges.

Wildland was already pushing oranges in a pile, Beast pushing and pecking at the oranges (tasting them as well). The dark doe looked at him like he was crazy for tasting the fruits, rolling them up in a corner just so that she could get this over with.

She spotted her sister rather easily, immediately impressed at how much work she had done in a couple of moments. The doe just really wanted to help, winning was not in her mind at all -- plus there would be food for her tonight with this harvest.
"Sister." She called out, pushing the oranges out of her way.
Sprig was rather excited with the scent in the air, going nearby best and pecking at the ripe oranges.

Bare Trees started to push the oranges to the side, nosing them as she walked towards her sister.

Wildland turned her head, unsurprised her sister was there and not really caring at the same time. She nodded her head in acknowledgement though, but focused on her task.
But wait -- did Bare Trees want to win this contest over her? She had always tried to push her to strive for excellence... so perhaps? Strangely enough the other doe seemed like a natural at this! Wildlands had never really gathered fruits before unlike her sister who was almost a herbivore.
Her movements became more frantic then, rolli1ng the fruits and growling at Beast to help her.

With widened eyes she watched her sister move faster, a slight snarl on her face.
"?" She tilted her head to the side, a little bit worried. Granted, she was a little used to her sister being .. distant but still the actions affected the gentle doe.
"Alright well ... I'll go here and you tell me if you need help, alright? I know a great way to have these oranges!" Her reply was enthusiastic, hoping that Wildland would take her up on her offer.
Sprig continued pecking at the sweet juices, Beast watching her a little enviously before flying to grab more oranges with his claws.

Oranges sounded delightful. As the Swamp went through phases of heat, the idea of chomping down on a juicy gem of fruit was more than of interest to the buck, so when word reached his stretch of territory about the great collection of fallen fruit, Herald was only too happy to comply. All he'd have to do is fashion some of the low hanging vines around the spring puddles and with some fronds, he could carry a sizable amount home. Maybe even try to cultivate one or two trees...
With this happy thought in mind, he picked his way to the sea of orange with ears held high, blue eyes surveying the landscape of fruit. Not too far, he saw two beautiful does in the midst of collection themselves, making the buck smile faintly to himself. Some company, while unexpected, was most welcome.
He didn't want to intrude, of course, especially since it seemed the two were under heated conversation. Instead of introducing himself immediately, he kept to the outskirts of the mounds of oranges and nosed a few aside, mindful of the other two's presence and demeanor.

The arrival of a new kin was not lost on Wildland even though she was preoccupied with her work, after all she had the ears of a hunter -- sharp and attentive.
"Mm." She responded to her sister even though she didn't really say anything at all, grabbing the oranges in between her teeth and carrying them ungracefully into her pile. She would absolutely not ask for help! Especially that it was just fruits.

Sighing she walked over to Sprig who was still happily pecking and tasting the fruits she had collected, making a happy sound at her master who was approaching.
"Find some good ones?" She remained upbeat, smiling.
Sprig's attention was on something else though, flying above her and behind her. This confused Bare Trees, turning her head to where she was going and finding that Sprig had perched nearby another kimeti. A rather handsome one in fact! His chest glowed brightly, Bare trees thought that was very lovely.
"H-hello?" She walked towards him carefully, a little cautious but even a little excited to see another face!

Ah, one of the does seemed a bit...standoffish. Definitely wise not to intervene there.
Herald had only managed to mouth one more orange to his pile before he noted a large, impressive eagle near by, watching him keenly. The Kimeti, though having no familiars of his own, recognize the bird as such and dipped his head in polite greetings. "A feast for you, hm?" he queried, even knowing the bird could not respond.
A timid greeting tugged his attention, realizing the other doe had come a little closer. A smile returned to his dark face, bowing his head to her in similar greeting as he had the avian. "Good day. I hope I am not intruding...I simply must help with all these beautiful oranges. The sight, the smell -- it's intoxicating, is it not?"

When the buck bowed at her-- she literally did not know how to react to that, obviously not used to others outside her siblings.
"Oh, you're not intruding at all! In fact, it's wonderful that you're here!" She said all too enthusiastically, bowing her head just like he did. Sprig ruffled her feathers at the white buck, head tilting to the side and observing him before she pounced on a nearby orange, pecking at the insides.
"I do so love how there's like a field of orange -- and with the scent -- it's comforting." She smiled gently, "Ah, are you harvesting them as well?"

Herald lifted one ear curiously at the enthusiastic greeting. That was as new to him as the bow was to her, but he rather liked the warm reception. Not wanting to be rude, he kept his attention mostly on the doe, filtering two oranges towards his pile with a hoof and directing him with his striped tail. "I am here to claim a bounty, yes." His affirmation was punctuated with a nod. "I could not resist the temptation to partake in the riches of the Swamp. Generosity of the land is a thing to celebrate."
Two more oranges were added to his small group. Noting the bird, he moved one of the oranges back to himself, lowering his head and using his teeth to tear the rind from the flesh. Once at least half was free of the bitter shell, he nosed it towards the avian. "There you are, friend."
To the doe, he smiled again, tail curving in a slow, curious manner. "Is this lovely bird in your company? And perhaps...the quiet lady yonder?" Herald tilted his head towards the grumpy doe. "I am Herald of Dawn - Herald, if you please."

All this time, Wildland was ferociously gathering fruit, sometimes breaking them with the tightness of her jaw -- the juices exploding in her mouth and giving her a burst of the sour or sweet taste. She--wasn't doing a particularly great job of it but in her mind she was winning.
