Social Life
Family History: His father, Hiroaki, grew up to a wealthy family in Okinawa whose fortune came from their stronghold in the fish processing industry. At a young age, Hiroaki learned kendo from his father and was put into competitions at an early age to increase publicity. While competing in Osaka, he met Kiri, the eldest daughter of a wealthy Chinese restaurant chain owner and a senior in culinary school. They fell in love after a few chance meetings following their encounter at the tournament, and their marriage was sealed when Kiri realized that their fish came through Hiroaki's father's company. However, tragedy struck when Hiroaki's father died at sea, leaving the management of the company's multiple factories and fleets to his son. Due to the increased stress brought on by this work, Hiroaki requested to take some time off before having to run the company. His request was honored, and the couple decided to spend Hiroaki's vacation in America, where Kiri gave birth to a son in Pennsylvania. By the time their son was in 8th grade, Hiroaki decided he was ready to come back home to lead his fishing company and get back into kendo. While searching for schools to send Clover to, Kiri came across Ouran, and decided to enroll Clover. Unfortunately, due to her restaurant being in Osaka, she would have to leave her son by himself in Tokyo, so she bought him a house by the school, where he currently lives. During Hiroaki's comeback, Kiri's mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Thankfully, the diagnosis was caught early and treated. The restaurant is still in Osaka, and Hiroaki continues to manage his father's fish processing company. However, his kendo endeavors have dropped since he suffered a heart attack recently.
Personal History: Due to his love of clover honey, Ritsu earned his nickname, Clover. The name has stuck since he was able to talk, and he even prefers it to his real name. Despite repeated protests from his mother, Clover learned kendo from his father at a young age. However, Clover lacked the competitive spirit his father had, so he didn't want to partake in tournaments. Because of that, he fought with his father occasionally, but things never got too out of hand. Instead, he spent a lot of time with his mother, helping her around the house with chores and making food. Due to his more feminine hobbies, boys at school in America made fun of him. This only got worse when they decided to move him into an all-boys private school, thinking that he would find a male friend who liked cooking and other so-called "feminine hobbies". It was during his middle school years that he realized that he was homosexual, having had his first relationship with a guy named Jun in seventh grade. So far, Jun is the only person other than his family who he lets call him Ritsu. The relationship ended when Clover moved away at the end of ninth grade. He was enrolled in Ouran at the beginning of the new academic year after he was moved into the house his mother bought him. While he was enrolled, he joined the kendo club. During a scrimmage, an upperclassman made a careless move and fractured the right orbit on his skull, requiring him to get surgery to prevent any damage to his vision. Thankfully, the surgery went well, and no damage was done to his optic nerve. From that point on, he began to cover the scar on the right side of his face with his hair. Recently, he had to be pulled out of school for a while to help his father run their multiple fishing fleets and manage deliveries to other countries while he was being hospitalized for his heart attack.
Hobbies: Drawing, writing, kendo, cooking.
Special Skills: Handling and making kendo equipment, cooking, baking.
Primary School, Middle School, and Extra-School Activities: He attended a standard American public school until grade 6. By grade 6, he transferred to an all-boys private school that went from grades K through 12. After they moved back to Japan, he was enrolled at Ouran mid term in his second year of high school and has remained at Ouran since. He joined the kendo club at the school a few days following his transfer to Ouran.
