This thread is reserved for Sajhiri to RP with and maintain a diary for, her Silva Regia Fey, Cervus. Thank you to Anya! for her permission to use her diary concept. DO NOT POST HERE UNLESS YOU ARE SPECIFICALLY INVITED TO BY SAJHIRI! Violators will be reported to a moderator.

Background: The son of King Scopulus and Queen Hinnuleus, Cervus was 7 years old when he was trapped by the curse. He was betrothed to Lilium, the daughter of the Archduke upon her birth, her parents and the King and Queen having been close allies for many centuries. He was the first Fey to be freed from the curse, and is heir to the Sun Throne. He quested to find and merge with his totem spirit, and ascended, gaining the legs and full antlers of the stag, but losing his wings.

Personality: Cervus is very serious and often inward turned as he ponders the fate of his people. He is rarely seen as outwardly happy or exuberant, but does evince his joy in private with those close to him. He is a calm and precise man in his adulthood, the weight of his kingdom upon his shoulders. He is as strong as his totem though, and a brave fellow in the face of adversity. He is a good and compassionate leader.

Session Plot: Sajhiri and Cervus run into Neith, Filix, Ahnna, and Rosa at the tower, conversation ensues.

Participants: Sajhiri, Ahnna, Neith-Kia, Cervus, Rosa, and Filix.

Setting: Sajhiri's study in the Silva Regia Tower on Gaia.

Jhiri strides into the tower and moves to her desk, Sedare and Saevire in their carrier and quickly deposited into their play pen. The woman settles down at her desk and begins to go over the ledger Cervus has helped to compile of all the Fey children he could remember. As he was just a boy when the curse struck, it has been difficult for him to remember names so much as totems.

Ahnna looked over after her 'extencive' observation of Rosa in her smaller fey state. "Oh, doctor." She chirped for a greeting with a rather big smile. "How are you?" She asked, standing up and starting to walk twords her until she blinked a few times and walked back to go retrieve the little fey. "And your thule?" She hadent noticed Cervus yet, for the distance and his size.

Jhiri looked up as Ahnna approached and smiled. "Busy as always, but doing well. As are the girls. Well mostly. We had a bit of a situation at the zoo the other day, but I think they're over it." She tilted her head and squinted to glimpse little Rosa. "And how is that little darling doing? She's so pretty."

Cervus descended from the rafters above, where he'd been carving what looks like a tiny bow from a twig of maple Sajhiri snapped off a tree outside the tower. He alighted on her desk and gave a regal nod to Ahnna and her charge.

"How is the bow coming, Your Majesty?" Jhiri asked, gesturing to the makeshift weapon in progress.

"We shall know better the next time we cross over to Tir Nan Og. If the weapon remains a useable size for me there, this will be an invaluable way to conserve the forest there, by using what is basic deadfall here."

Neith and Filix wandered in... or rather... Neith walked in, and Filix was clutching to her ear with both of her hands, balancing on her shoulder. Waving to people around and mumbling hellos, Neith sat down on a cushion, while Filix started to swing on the blonde hair, Neith's hand underneath her the entire time.

"Oh did you? I have yet to venture to the zoo with my thule.. Aikaz is sick, you see. Kuya's thule.. the uhm.. sickly looking one, sort of.." She shrugged, "Well, its good to keep that one in one place anyways....Rosa is doing very well!" She said all of a sudden, rather enthusiastically with a smile. "Shes managed to get on Aikaz' good side too, which suprised me enough, since Aikaz really only takes to her sister if anyone.. Whats more I think shes overjoyed in the fact she can now -sit- in the roses, literally. It takes hours to get her out of my flowerpot.. do you think.. sitting like that, and just.. staring and.. singing to those things.. is healthy?" Ahnna asked, her face frowning somewhat as she thought of it before she nodded at Cervus. "Thats a great idea, King Cervus.. I would of never thought to try that out. We can only hope, I guess.."

Rosa was examining her surroundings again, and let out a big smile and baby coo when she saw the other fey. She greeted him with 'ello' and waved a moment before she looked at Jhiri and grinned again, "Pretty!?" she -screamed- at the top of her lungs, granted rather small at the moment.

Sajhiri looked over at the arrival of Neith and Filix, and she smiled. "I swear, if that one weren't a count's daughter she'd be pulling on breeches and swinging a sword at the front of your army, Cervus."

Cervus grunted slightly and just shook his head. "There is no harm in play at her young age, Revered Daughter. There will be time enough later for courtly manners and fancy gowns. Let her have her youth for the short time she may.

Jhiri nodded a bit sadly, but her expression became concerned at Ahnna's words. "Moros made Aikaz ill? Heavens, I'll have to steer clear of him when I have the girls with me. I don't think I'll handle their getting sick very well. But I suppose that's one of the regular trials of parenthood, eh? She grinned over at Rosa's outburst. "yes, you are very pretty, Rosa dear!"

Neith listened to Filix for a few seconds, then stood up and wandered towards Sajhiri's direction. Filix still clutched to Neith's hair with one hand, but the other hand was waving towards Sajhiri and Cervus. Filix beamed at them, happy to see others. It had been so long! And besides, she was sure she'd heard a yell from another, and hadn't the big woman just said the magic word, 'Rosa'?

Neith tugged a chair over, and sat down, while Filix crawled down her arm and sat on Neith's wrist. She peered up at them both, not sure if she should come closer while quietly telling them both, "Hello!" Once she had said hello, she crawled onto the tabletop, and wandered over to sit next to Cervus, the hyperactive side pushed down in front of the adult. Adult, and king. Wriggling till she was comfortable, she asked, "You said Rosa?"

Ahnna waved with her free hand at Neith a moment before she smiled, "Indeed it is. Im afraid I am not intact with much protectiveness though, with that sort of thing. I mean, kids are going to get sick - and honestly if I were to protect Aikaz from every one she picked on.." She trailed off then smiled, "You didnt awnser my question about Rosa, Doctor. I wouldent be so persistant with this, its just worrying me.." She said, referring to the staring/singing/obsessing over flowers thing with Rosa.

Rosa grinned again, she flopped over backwards seeming to fall over in pure joy over the thought of -her- being pretty. "Meh?!" She screamed again, as if to make absolutely sure she was getting this right. She started to sit up when she saw her sister and seemed to get even happier which was begining to seem near impossible.

Jhiri chuckled a little at Rosa and cooed back, "yes you!". She looked up at Ahnna with as much reassurance as she could muster. "I don't see anything odd with it. Cervus was constantly running through the forest scraping his antlers against trees as a teen...it's no odder than that, surely."

Cervus turned scarlet for a moment at the revelation of his brief and boisterous youth. The fey Kings wings flutter with an indignant buzz as he folded his arms over his chest and gave the doctor a stern look. It softened, however, as Filix sat nearby. "Good day to you child. I do hope you are well. And I believe your sister is nearby as well..."

Filix was already standing up by the time Cervus had spoken, peering around for the source of the sound. It didn't take her long to notice the younger girl, who really was quite obvious. Filix beamed, and rushed over towards Rosa, sitting down next to her and holding out her arms. "ROSA!"

Neith grinned at the sisters, and looked up at Sajhiri and Ahnna. "The most Filix has done is try to ride a snail and climb up the flowers..." Neith paused, realizing that that didn't sound as normal when she said it out loud and added, "As well as going for walks in the gardens. She has more energy than I do, sadly enough. Filix is going to make me fit if we keep trying to find things in the gardens."

Ahnna blinked a few times when she discovered she had two fey in her hand and shook her head, moving them back to the table and meaning to usher them both back onto the tabletop, not feeling quite comfortable with the two precious lives in the palm of her hand. "Yes, well, I have little minature shackles I chain her and my Aduthule in every day." She said sarcastically, before she looked up and nodded. "Kidding." She reassured.

Rosa went to cling to her sister. Mainly going for any of her limbs, and if she had it her way she would be pinned to her oldersibling within seconds. "Filix! Meh pretty!" She informed, triumphantly, brightly, and more then anything joyously.

Jhiri groaned a little. "Tell me about it. Saevire and Sedare run me ragged, not to mention all the dragon and gryphon hatchings, and giving therapy to the Mendels. I'm grateful Cervus is an adult and can control himself."

Cervus let out a small chuckle at the exasperation in Sajhiri's voice. "Why thank you, Revered Daughter. I shall take that as a compliment."

Sajhiri smiled and looked at the pair of sisters. "They are very close, aren't they? And I don't envy you Ahnna. Aikaz looks like as much of a handful as Saevire."

Filix giggled when she found the younger Rosa clinging to one arm and her waist. She patted at Rosa's hair, tugging her into her lap to hold her there while she looked up to listen to everyone.

"You pretty... and so is everyone." Filix whispered to Rosa quietly, patting at her hair some more.

Neith stayed quiet, but she knew how the others felt, so just listened quietly and sympathetically, adding quietly, "They don't look so bad? Not to me, anyway, I don't live with them. I worry about Filix the most out of the ones I take care of. She's so tiny and easily hurt around here."

"Indeed Cervus, I imagine that antler thing in the forest was quite unnerving." She half teased the king before she gave a slight huff at Jhiri, "Well, not really.. I think you have it tougher with Saevire. Aikaz wont really let me connect with her too much, she goes off and goes her evil ploys on her own. I just have to clean up the mess and apolagize after. Rael is my miss attention needer.. Rosa even more so. Actually, Im hoping those two dont start to get jealous of each other.. im begining to think that was Aikaz' plan all along.." Ahnna furrowed her brow as she thought about it, little pieces evolved from the days prior begining to fit.

Rosa shook her head, "Nuh uh." She half muttered, knowing full well that there were plenty of things that certinly werent.. pretty. Or what she considered pretty. Once she was settled she immidiently began to nitpick her sisters appearance and fuss over anything about her that was inneed of proper grooming of a soon-to-be-countess. She even looked over at her king once and seemed to be ranting to him in jibberish, while pointing and complaining about her sister's hygiene(sp).

Jhiri smiled sympathetically at Neith. "That's why I make sure much of Cervus' time is spent in Tir Nan Og. There's just too much that can harm him here. Saevire's frog I got her almost ate him one night..."

If Ahnna's comment about the antler rubbing didn't make Cervus stiffen, the frog incident certainly did. He ahems quietly. He then sits down crosslegged with the two children to watch them with a small smile and a gleam of pride in his eyes.

Jhiri grinned and looked to Ahnna. "Sometimes I swear Saevire is doing things just because she knows they irritate me. It's as if she wants to make me, and everyone around me, angry. But at the same time she's needy. But Rosa won't be so little for so long, so enjoy it while you can.

"Yea, lots of pretty things." Filix squirmed at the sudden rush of sisterly preening, trying to escape Rosa's fussing hands that were starting to tug at her clothes and hair. She looked up at Cervus, with a face that was literally pleading for help, while Rosa tugged her hair into strange shapes and looks... She felt like a doll sometimes with Rosa!

"Frogs? ...She's not allowed outside unless it's in Tir Nan Og..." Neith muttered, shuddering and looking around the room for anything that would see Filix as a tasty treat. "Horrible... hungry creatures."

For a baby, Rosa was unhealthly clean with the exception of dirt smudges from sitting in flower pots on her behind, which she obviously hadent noticed. "Nu! Filix hair no pretty." She mussed, she was indeed shaping Filix hair, and seeming to pull the pigtails into proper alignment while fingering out tangles. She seemed to be scolding and huffing all the while in her little baby tone.

Ahnna smiled and shook her head, "Yes I suppose your right. Do think she will be more demanding or less as a teenager? You know, anything I do with my twins Rosa makes me do twicefold with her, I have to read to her that same stupid book every night. The swan princess? Ugh. I hate that book. And all she does is stare at the pictures..."

Jhiri stood and patted Neith's arm. "You'll stop being so worried in time. It's a motherhood thing I think. After a while you'll realize that a bump or bruise goes away, and that they'll forget the fall long before you do." She chuckled to Ahnna then. "Who can say? Even as an oracle I can't see everything. Patience, dear, love comes no matter the turns and twists, they have part of our souls afterall..." She moved to gather up the twins. "I need to get some sleep and tuck these two in. You all take care, ok?"

Cervus patted the heads of the girls then launched into the air himself. "I have to rest as well. I need to return to Tir Nan Og tomorrow, as I feel the pull drawing me. Good eve fair ladies."

With that, they depart.

"You're right, of course... And I know it, but I still have to fuss. It's apart of the job, I think. Rest well!"

Filix got a 'deer-in-headlight-look' when he left her to the fussing of her sister, trying to gently push down Rosa's hands. "It ok hair! See? Shiny hair. Hair not matter anyway, so it's ok." She didn't wince much, for a baby, Rosa was surprisingly gentle. Maybe her little fingers made up for it.

Rosa's eyes seemed to be very strict and stern. "Filix." She said, closing her eyes and sticking her nose up in the air. "Need pretty!" She all of a sudden yelled, opening her eyes, trying to wiggle her hands free and go back to her original mission.

Ahnna nodded as Jhiri made her exit and took a seat. "Well, are they.. fighitng?" She asked with her eyebrows raised.

Filix jumped, and let go of Rosa's hands for a second. She grabbed them and scolded Rosa, "No! I pretty without looking like doll!", trying to wriggle away. Why did she tug Rosa into her lap? Now she was stuck!

Neith shrugged helplessly and looked up. "Looks like a sisterly debate to me. But we should keep a close eye... They arn't going to do this forever, are they?"

Ahnna snorted, "Well, dear Neith. Rosa is an extreamly persistant and patient little girl. She will persist for hours if need be.." She trailed off then shook her head, "Its okay, I have a solution." She took off a ring she had on her finger, that was compiled with a single rather small but still 'shiney' diamon and plucked it down next to the two fey.

Rosa continued to fight incessantly, until she stopped. She seemed to be drawn to the sparkly diamond like a magnent, and all the more jumped out of her sisters lap to tackle and covet the ring. "Filix!" She yelled, trying to get the ring into her lap, while showing off 'her' new possession.

Filix relaxed when her sister jumped off her, tugging the half-done hair down until it was wild and untamed. She stared at the sparkly ring, half-mesmorised herself. She did like nice things, after all, but she loved things that weren't so nice as well. Filix just smiled at Rosa's new prize and told her, "It pretty."

"That was a good, good, good idea." Neith grinned slightly, watching the girls. "I know what to bring for Rosa now..."

Ahnna snorted, "All trial and error my friend. It was many days before I discovered that little trick." She said, shaking her head slowly. "Does Filix have any weaknesses like that?"

Rosa seemed to fall into a trance for quite sometime until she scooted closer to her sister while lugging the ring along aswell, fluttering her wings happily. "Filix me share." She said, as if soothing her sister, thinking she must be jealous. In truth Filix was probably the only one she would share such a 'GREAT THING' with.

"Filix tends to love going outdoors... animals. Zoo trips, she loves. But my home can be a zoo at times, so she tends to just need to be bribed with a ride on one of the creatures." Neith shrugged and added, "Nothing like a sparkly eyegrabbing moment like that."

Filix stood up, and helped Rosa in the last part of it, relaxing and tugging her sister and the ring into her lap as best she could. She pretened to be soothed, hugging Rosa and telling her, "Rosa good to share. Sharing is good."

"I see." Ahnna said with a smile. "I dont think Rosa is the animal lover type. She seemed to get along with Equus well enough, though, and Cervus and Alces and there all totem-based on animals. Not that I expect her to blackmail half of her kind because she doesnt like true animals, though... Eh. What am I saying? I just think she doesnt like getting dirty. Isuppose if the animal were pretty or fancy enough, like a proud white stallion upposed to a short, dull chestnut, pack horse. And I imagine Filix would just like whichever horse could run the fastest, hmm?" She asked with a grin.

Rosa shook her head not neccisarily agreeing that sharing was 'good' but at the moment she didnt feel like arguing. "Pretty." She stated again, staring at the sparkle. "Filix, pretty." She reconfirmed in a coo as she leaned backwards and seemed to snuggle.

"Yes, I think Filix would love the horse for the spirit, not the looks. She'd make a wonderful countess, independent and intelligant. And Rosa would be beautiful... they'd be quite a pair." Neith signed slightly when she glanced at a clock and held out her hand to Filix. "We have to go, Filix."

Filix pouted, hugged Rosa and wandered onto Neith's hand. Neith put her up on her shoulder and waved goodbye. "I'll speak to you both later!"

Ahnna smiled, "Good timing, I need to go home too. Im afraid my sister is getting tired of Aikaz and her mischeif, I shoudl go relieve her of her inflicted duties. Take care, Neith and Filix."

Rosa was very much upposed to this, and seemed to be rather offended in them leaving. She made a face that was a cry-threat, and even more so when Ahnna plucked her ring back. "WAAAH!" escaped, it had become a demand for her sister AND for 'her' ring.

Ahnna had her hushed soon, as Rosa was a rather easy baby to cheer up, after all. She had soon exited the area aswell.

6/21/04: If I never see those two Adulthulë monsters again it will be too soon. I shouldn't say that. The silvery one, Sedare, is quite pleasant. Her sister, however, is a tyrant who has tried to dismember or do away with me on several occasions now. Thankfully, Revered Daughter Sajhiri is quite vigilent where the twins are concerned, and she has saved me on numerous occasions from certain mangling.

Lilium seems more beautiful by the day. We have agreed that once several of our freed kin grow out of their childhood state, we shall hold our wedding in the ball room. It will be a most joyous occasion, and one I've waited so very long for. As I suspected, with her advancement to adulthood, she has matured into a serene, graceful, and well learned woman, who shall excel in leading our people as their Queen.

To see the Count's daughters breathing and moving once more is a great joy to me. I remember when little Rosa was born, the younger of the two. I was too small myself to remember Filix's birth, but I remember her climbing trees in the forest with Aescelus and I. Poor Aesculus. I so sincerely hope we find his kithain soon. I am somewhat at a loss without the counsel of my dearest childhood friend. Were he here to advise me, I think I would be less worried about the prevelance of dangerous beings in the forest.

I would also be less worried if we could find the kithain of and free Papila. Her mother was my father's court magician, and surely she would be able to understand and refresh the protection spells that have warded the palace for so long. Even now I can feel them weakening, and if they should fail, I don't think we can hold out long against the forest beasts.

I will end this entry now. I still have much to do and think on.

6/25/04: I swear that Aduthulë child has Moon Court blood in her! She is persistently trying to kill me! Revered Daughter Sajhiri insists that she is doing no such thing, that she is just a baby and not capable of plotting my demise. I think Sajhiri is slightly naive and deluded where that little monster is concerned.

Good fortune has smiled upon the Sun Court once more, however, as my dear cousin, Alces, has made the painful transition from childhood to his adolescent state. He is a handsome and talkative boy who is very reminiscent of his father. I have elevated him to the rank of "Crier of the Court", and shall rely on him to deliver messages and announcements. From his eager outlook I can see the makings of a fine herald in him.

With Alces' transformation, I think perhaps some of the other young ones may follow soon. The sooner the majority of them can wield bow, sword, or staff, the sooner I can relax some. The forest and it's dark denizens are encroaching further every day. I worry than in short order, even traversing the meadow to the fairy ring to cross to Gaia will be hazardous!

Syrenrei
Outside the door a carefully wrapped treasure in a piece of black cloth and a note pinned to the top is found. The note on top reads:

Scribbled on the back is another note: This orb is said to be used to gaze into past and future lives. I thought you might find this interesting- and the colors seemed to suit you.

7/29/04: I know it has been some time since I have put quill to parchment to write in this journal, but the duties of a King have kept me away from reflecting on my life. I fear they have also kept me from properly helping Aesculus adjust to his return to life after a thousand years in that wretched window. He left me a lovely gift though, which I wish to thank him properly for. I want to find him a special gift as well, as I fear he is not adjusting well. He seems stressed and tense, which is only natural when you best friend is suddenly so much older than you remember them, and you yourself are the same way you were so long ago. I am hoping it won't be much longer before his transformation is upon him, though I suspect we'll see Ardea grow first.

Revered Sister Sajhiri says she has leads on two more possible Kithain. I am overjoyed at this, as the lines she has been researching are for Muris, the daughter of my Father's stablemaster, and Pappila, the daughter of my father's court mage. Both are badly needed at this time, the former to tend to the newly re-aquired stable of steeds, and the latter to bolster the magics which have kept the dark creatures of the wood out for so long, but are now slowly weakening.

I pray that both will be freed soon and up to the tasks. I should go check on Lilium now. We don't get to spend as much time together as I'd like, and we should set a date for the official wedding and her coronation as queen soon.

Session Plot: Cervus is visited by a concerned Aesculus.

Participants: Cervus and Aesculus.

Setting: Cervus' chambers in Castellum Argentus.

Cervus sat at his desk in his chambers, scouring documents which sat in stacks. The stag king's brow furrowed at the lists of inventories of food, clothing, weapons, and goods, weighing the need to replenish against the risk of bringing such young fey out into the woods to harvest and hunt. He sighed and rubbed at the bridge of his nose in the candlelight.

Cervus sighed as he paused in front of the king's chamber door. Mind you, it wasn't a long walk back to his own chambers, so the temptation to turn around and walk right back was quite high. He laughed inwardly at himself... how silly he was, standing here like conflicted. Perhaps... he would just casually see how his friend was doing, for he was as concerned about the king as his own matters.

Yes. He need not bring his troubles on the king unless, of course, his friend offered such or he seemed to be in good enough moods to aid his younger comrade.

Now quite assured, Aesculus rapped on the door and waited patiently. The light under the door assured him the king was in- now he just hoped for him to be in a good mood.

"Enter..." Cervus called, and at his words, the magics on the chamber swung the chamber door inward. The regal head lifted from the papers being perused and turned to regard the person at the door. "Aesculus...?" Cervus seemed momentarily surprised, as if he had not expected his old...well...young friend to pay him a visit. "Do come in. It is good to see you, dear one. Can I get you something to drink?" He rose and left the desk to cross over to a pair of more comfortable chairs set at a small table.

"I'm not old enoguh for that yeat, dear friend." Aesculus says, his voice level and serious, not resonating the sarcasm or jest in his comment. He walks inwards and his gaze falls upon the large volume of papers on Cervus's desk. He can't help but feel a little guilty he was unable to aid his king and friend as of yet and that Cervus was bearing so much on his shoulders.

"I'm not interrupting anything too urgent, am I?" It was because he didn't want to distract Cervus from anything important he was hesitant to take a seat quite yet.

"Nothing which outweighs the importance of time spent with a dear friend. And I do have some water and I believe some pumpkin juice in here somewhere...I brought some up from the cellars. Do you remember how we used to drink it all the time as kids?" He flushed a bit, realizing Aesculus was still just that.

He pulled out two goblets nonethless, pouring juice for them both. "What brings you here? Is everything all right?"

He frowns a bit, knowing there's no use to dancing around topics with his friend or being elusive, so he takes the time to be honest and frank, staring at the goblets a moment before he replies, trying to think of the most polite way to phrase his next question.

"Exactly how DOES one deal with a... how to put it kindly... someone who is of ill temperment and ignorant? It would not trouble me so if she would listen to reason, or at least listen at all."

A brow arched slightly as Cervus set one of the two goblets in front of Aesculus. "Were we all still under the age of 10, I'd think you were talking of Filix and how she used to tag along with us and nearly break her neck climbing trees like a boy. But as we're not, and Filix has matured quite well..."

He grinned slightly. "Let me guess, Lady Rosa? I must admit I'm somewhat appalled at the shallowness she seems to have inherited from her mother. I'd hoped that quality would have been bred out of their line and tempered by their father. But alas, she seems to be as self possessed as the Countess was..."

"Filix is a wonderful woman, but this Rosa irks me like no other has! She has openly accused me in front of your cousin of being a spy of the moon court, and then called me the greatest evil in front of the queen. Her absurd delusions are... they are just..." He seems at a loss of words and pauses to gain his composure. After all, this was just a woman, and he ought not to let her get under his skin.

"I don't dare ask what even makes her think I deserve such a title. I'm sure there's an even more whimsical answer for that." With that he nods to himself as he takes a sip of his juice, making sure in his mind he hasn't said anything too rash.

Cervus nearly choked on his pumpkin juice at Aesculus' words. "She said Wh-aaat?!" He slammed the goblet down with a rush of anger. "She should know better than to say such things. I think a week of washing dishes and tending laundry for the castle will remind her of her duty to the realm and her place in it. If she had any such suspicions of anyone being an agent of the Moon Court, she should have come to me. I'd have set her straight and stopped this nonsense immediately." Cervus stood and began to pace, scowling. He was obviously furious.

Aesculus puts down his goblet and blinks, not expecting his rant to actually get the king this angry. Now Rosa would hate him even MORE! As he was contemplating what the right thing to say was, there was the quiet sound of little feet scampering on the ground as the tiny mouse that had latched onto Aes scampered down his pants and to the floor. Aesculus was oblivious.

He then smiled a little bit, a hint of amusement in his voice. "Oh, but that would only reasurre her that I do, indeed, have you under my evil spell. Apparently, I am able to do many things I didn't realize."

Cervus scoffed. "Nonsense Aesculus. If she insists on maintaining such delusions I will simply have to declare her unfit to assume her mother's title. I will see her spend the rest of her days as a scullery maid unless she can provide me some proof of wrongdoing on your part. I know for a fact there is no such proof, but spreading dissension and false accusations is subversive behavior and can be construed as sedition. I don't take treasonous behavior lightly..."

"Well, be assured none of the Fey seem to even believe her more than a moment." He chuckles a little as he remembers little Muris' few first words to Rosa, and then adds with some thought. "Actually, Muris called her a mean lady for calling horses smelly and since hasn't listened to much of anything Rosa has said."

He takes another sip at his pumpkin juice, and almost chokes on it as he notices his tiny, furry friend investigating the floor. He goes to reach for the rodent, but the rodent is too far for his grasp, and crawling out of his seat would only draw attention to the fact that he had inadvertently brought the "vermin" with him.

Mercifully, or perhaps deliberately, Cervus doesn't seem to notice the mouse. He sips his pumkin juice and sighs softly. "I didn't anticipate being freed from the curse and having to tend to a gaggle of squabbling teenager and screaming toddlers. Although I don't wish the pain on you, I pray you at least come to your teen years soon my friend. I need you counsel and skills to keep the rest in line."

He raises a brow. Keep the rest in line? He hoped that he woudn't spend most of his time as an advisor tending to just the Fey, although it might be a worthy task. With all their quabbles, it was something not even he was sure he wanted to take on, even though he did like a good challenge.

"Good things come to those that wait," he remarked calmly, sipping at his pumpkin juice as the mouse, thank the heavens, skittered back to his feet and started scaling him like he was a great mountain.

"I didn't anticipate being needed to help keep order with the others, although if you wish it, I shall try my best when I do age. All the others listen to me save Rosa, and Muris has even come to visit me and invite me to 'play.'"

"Enjoy your childhood, dear friend, for we are cursed to have it wrenched from us much too soon. I don't anticipate us forever having to worry about raising children, but with no nursemaids about, I need all the help I can get." He turned to look at the moon's position outside his window. "I'm afraid I must retire for the night, Aesculus. I have an early morning, I must inspect the castle defenses. Do forgive me, but I must get some rest before then."

He nodded and stood. He bowed politely, for even thought Cervus was a close friend, he was constantly reminded by the age difference and his speech that Cervus was in fact now an adult and a king. Seeing as how upset Rosa's words had made the king, he was now glad he had not mentioned to him that Syrenrei was also missing, haven gotten lost somewhere on her way to Tir Na Nog.

Still a bit conflicted he turned and went to the door, opening it and turning. "Good night, and sleep well. Try not to worry yourself so." With a bare hint of a smile he closed the door behind him. With the doors closed he rested his back against their crevice and sighed.

Growing up too fast? True, he didn't know what it was like to be alone, one of a sparse three or so Fey and to grow rapidly, but neither did the king seem to understand what it was like to be so painfully young, to be so needed, and to see your peers more than a head taller than you, older, more mature. Shaking his head he paused his silly fretting and walked down the hall to his room, tiny rodent swaying on his robes.

8/23/04: Something rather odd is going on with Sajhiri. She had previously told me she thought one of her friends, some Imperial Admiral or nonsense like that, might be a Kithain. When I asked her today about it, she looked at me like I was nuts. She said, "Who Em? No way, not her. Why would I ever think she was?"

It was strange, and uncomfortable in the moment. Just a week or two ago she'd been so excited about it. Now she's behaving like she never mentioned it, and I can't seem to discern any willful lying on her part. It's almost as if she's lost part of her memory.

I'll need to keep a closer eye on her. She's been spending a lot of time out in the caretaker's cottage near the tower. She's made it some sort of tavern for that strange tiny Feien Fairy, Averno, and her kind. She doesn't strike me as particularly pleasant. Maybe she's a poor influence on my Kithain.

8/30/04: A truly eventful week this has been. My dear Aesculus has come into his adolescent years and moved away from childhood. I had been worried for him, for the pain of seeing those he grew up with almost in the guise of strangers in bodies so much older than he remembered. Seeing him, my best friend in this world, suddenly a young man and a far cry from the child I knew, was unsettling to the core. Now I know how he must have felt. We are strangers still in so many ways.

The sisters, Rosa and Filix, have grown into adulthood, and I have handed over their due as Countesses of the Court. I hope they can live up to the burden of their nobility. I am still a touch perturbed at Rosa, but she seems of late to be on her very best behavior, so we shall see. If I get another complaint from Aes, I'll have her muck out the stables for a week. Filix seems distant from us at times. She used to climb trees with Aes and I, but adulthood, and her nobility, are a strain on her tomboyish tendencies. I hope she doesn't do anything foolish to cling to childhood fantasies.

My beloved cousin Alces has also grown into a fine young man and assumed his full rights as my Herald. He is a good and steadfast young man, and I am very proud of him.

With the advent of these transformations, I hold hope that before long, Aesculus will also reach adulthood. Once he does, I believe it will be time for Lilium and I to officially wed. I wish him to be in his adult state to handle the burden of the full Crown's advisement, however.
