Vollyballrocks91 It was the first truly warm day of spring. Heat was radiating from the sun, the sky was a clear blue and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Cole and his companion, Nevara, were off wandering to whatever destination they came across next. He figured with the heat beating down on them a break was probably needed soon, so he motioned his head off to the side and headed toward a small stream. "Need a drink?" bella dea Nevara had to admit, his suggestion sounded great. She was feeling a bit peekish. And with a slight nod she turned to follow after him. It was nice, this change between them. Cole seemed to be opening up more, speaking more freely with her and looked to be relaxing more. And it wasn't just him, she found herself letting her guard down more now that he was around, found herself leaning on him not only for protection, but also for comfort.
A small smile formed on her mouth again at the thought of how much she'd come to enjoy days like this. With him.
"Vat's sounds vonderful! Especially vith how nice vhe veather has been." she couldn't wait for summer to come full swing. Quote: They stopped at the stream and took a long drink, immediately feeling refreshed. "It has been nice. Hopefully it stays like this. I prefer the warm to the cold and rain." The cold also made his chains ache more but that was his own problem to deal with. "Any place you would like to go?" Quote: "Me too. But ven, a varm summer rain can be refreshing in vhe heat." Her gaze sought him for a moment, watching as he drank his fill. The slight awkwardness his metal band seem to cause. Nevara had always wondered how he's gotten them and why he still continued to wear them even though it looked as though they caused him a great amount of discomfort. And before she could stop herself, the words rolled off her tongue. "Where did you get your accesories?" Quote: Cole paused. As if he froze for a moment. Images flashed through his mind, familiar and painful ones. He blinked and regained his focus, something he'd really never done before on his own. This mare never asked for anything, only gave. Perhaps he could give her something in return. His gaze sought hers briefly and then flitted away. "I.. " He cleared his throat. He'd never told anyone what had happened. Not even his family. "I was.. captured. By humans. I was still pretty young. Not a colt but not old enough to know any better. They had tasty food, that was all I really seemed to care about. And before I knew what was happening they had attached.. these. Kept me chained up. I don't know how long but.. let's just say they weren't nice about anything. They tended to hit me with whatever they found nearby and they were.. creative." He took a deep shaky breath. "Needless to say it messed me up. I managed to break the chains one day but these parts aren't able to come off. The spikes dig in and reopen the wounds everytime I move, but I've learned to ignore the pain. When you live with something long enough, you get used to it, I suppose." Quote: How could anyone go through something like that? Much less become such a wonderful stallion like himself. Tears welled up in her eyes as she listened intently to his explaination. And by the time he was finished, she was at his side, some of the tears had broken through, leaving a stream of wetness running down her cheek. "Oh Cole.. " she whispered softly, gently nuzzling his cheek in a comforting gesture. "No one should HAVE to get used to it.. Least of all, you." She just wished there was something she could do.. anything that would lessen the pain that he felt.

"Enough of that. I'm alright." Quote: Smiling weakly she nodded, blinking quickly trying to rid herself of reched tears brought on by her emotions. But,, did he just say that she... helped? No, that wasn't right. If anything, he helped her. More than he'd ever know. "Me? No Cole.. don't you see. Ve helped eachother." Quote: "How have I possibly helped you? Besides scaring off a wolf. You put up with a lifeless.. somewhat creepy stallion who was a stranger to you." Quote: Sighing, Nevara shook her head. He wasn't in the least bit creepy. Different in ALOT of ways. But she knew there was more to him than just his exterior. She'd learned that many times over again. "You veren't creepy. Just.. exccentric?" she teased, grinning up at him. "And besides, everyone is a stranger the first time you meet vem. If you don't take vhe time to get to know vem, you could be loosing out something truly great" Quote: "There are many who do not think like that. I suppose that's why you're so special." She was definitely special to him at least. Anyone who said different would meet a very angry stallion. "I hope.. I hope they do not bother you." He sighed a bit. "I'm usually always bloody somewhere. I'm sorry if it.. offends you in any way." He would never want to see her bloody, even his own blood. Yet she still insisted on touching him so hopefully that was a good sign. Quote: She blushed slight and shook her head. She didn't matter what he looked like. It was the stallion inside that seemed to have snuck his way inside her affections. "None of it bothers me. In a way.. it makes you the stallion you are today. And the stallion I admire and like so much." Quote: What did you say to that? She never ceased to amaze him. "Thank you.." He nuzzled his nose to her forehead, ruffling up her bangs. Quote: Closing her eyes she smiled and nuzzled him back. "For what?" she asked, genuinely confused. Quote: "Well just... for being you, I guess." Quote: "I'll always be here, Cole. Anytime you need me. You don't have to vank me for vat." After all, she wanted to do it. Quote: "Always huh? That's quite the commitment. Are you sure you're up for it?" He smiled at her. Quote: "Well then the same offer goes for you as well. Whenever you need anything, I'll be there." Quote: "Vank you.." she whispered, as her chest tightened for a moment with emotion. Giving him quick nudge with her nose, she bent down to drink her fill. This was definitely starting out to be a day that would stay with her for a long while. And one she hoped would stay with him as well. -- END
