Name: Alec Scott
Age: 15
Gender: Male
Facial expression: Easily flustered, a blush dusts his pale cheeks from time to time even as he stares ahead seriously. Not one to smile to wide, a determined look would suit him well I think.
Hair: He’s a red head, and wears it medium length. It’s generally a ruffled bed head in need of a brush style that hangs down just past his eyes and frames his face. Slightly shorter in the back.
Height: 5'3"
Eye colour: Blue-Grey
Skin colour: Light skinned
Outfit: Standard outfit including the Jacket and a button down white t-shirt.

Personality:

Outgoing: Friendly even when unsure of himself, he is warm and accepting. Alec doesn't mind making it his personal mission to make everyone feel welcomed. Caring of others and their feelings.

Loyal: Dependable, he will have the backs of those he calls friend. Faithful to his allegiances, his fidelity is unwavering.

Creative: Alec is isn't afraid to reinvent the wheel, he like solving problems even if the methodology isn't always conventional. If one needs a creative spin on something Alec will gladly take a shot at it. Good at thinking on his feet.

Nervous: Easily agitated, he is a worrisome boy and over thinks things. Irrationally paranoid about death and extremely superstitious.

Predictable: His reactions and actions are easy to assess, and are consistent. He will do what he thinks is the 'right' thing to do. Alec is quick to jump to conclusions, and will follow his heart in the pursuit of the greater good.

Dyslexic: Both writing and reading give Alec a regular amount of trouble and finds it extremely frustrating. Dropped out of school at age 12 due to this issue. Has difficulty with accurate word recognition, decoding, and spelling. His speech does not suffer, as he's practiced that a great deal. Enjoys stories themselves, and excels at listening to verbal storytelling. He has terrible penmanship.

Alec is good at listening to orders, and carries them out to the best of his ability. He is able bodied, efficient, and unspeculative. Most importantly he is reliable, and can be trusted to do as he’s told. He tries to predict what might come next, and is observant. He is quick to fluster, but does not give up nor in easily. Alec is predictable and otherwise notably pessimistic teenager when a situation turns for the worse. Alec hates to see some one crying, and feels compelled to try and cheer them up with encouraging words, and attentive listening. Usually outgoing, he'd rather break the ice then sit back and watch people flounder. A courageous youth, he believes strongly in the human will and that everyone is capable of great feats if their hearts are invested. He tries to cheer others up when they are down, offering calm and patient smiles.

Being only 5’3” Alec isn't as large as some of the boys nor girls his age. Quick on his feet, he makes up for his lack of size with his agility. Use to taking charge as he's a responsible older brother, he genuinely cares about other human beings. He does not always know how to express his desire for human connection, and sometimes comes across as awkward and soft spoken. Alec covers it by pushing himself forward, going out on a limb. He is encouraging, and will rally behind what he feels is a good cause. Alec goes with his gut feeling, and once focused is rather relentless.

He has a tendency to stress over the negatives of a situation, however and fears any looming threat of an early death with a great deal of seriousness. Alec has a hard time believing in himself, and lives in his own self made shadow of his deceased biological father as he regarded him so highly. He’s a nervous boy and is easily agitated. Alec doesn't like being stared at directly, nor does he often look others in the eye when speaking to them. He’ll avert his gaze. Jumpy, his uneasiness stems from the fear of dying without having a chance to make a difference in what’s left of the world as mankind knows it. He is superstitious, and wears a good luck charm around his neck under his shirt at all times, morning, noon and night. See more information in history. Alec tends to take the stance he’d best live in the moment, or die regretful.

He adores animals, and is easy to distract. He'll follow around the local street cats and dogs trying to find ways of feeding them if possible. Taking walks also clears his mind. Loves throwing games, or any chance to improve on his aim. Alec enjoys a good challenge, and if spurred on will part take in competitive games that test ones skills. While he is primarily left handed, he does like to occasionally test himself with the use of both.

Alec is reserved when it comes to fighting, and doesn't like getting into physical confrontations. That does not mean however he won't engage. Especially given the right motivation. He'll watch and observe before taking action. As the fear of injury and death is a real threat, he thinks people who resort to violence are overly pretentious and petty. He's level headed, and doesn't mind joining in the fun. Alec is a mostly polite teenager who doesn't really stand for bull crap and will find his own way as needed. His smiles are genuine, as he has a big heart. He likes a good challenge, and is happy go lucky type for the most part (despite his gloomy outlook and realist attitude about death).

He's known nothing but peace, and ease of living. He's rarely had to go without.

History:

Alec's father Edward Scott was once part of the Scouting Legion. He viewed the man as his hero, and misses him dearly. While no medals could be spared for his fathers service as it was a waste of tax payers dollars to begin with, and metal was needed for the canons Edward is instead recorded as having been responsible for the survival of over half his unit. Given it is notably hard to track titan related deaths outside the walls, he served as he lived. Honorably protecting those he could at all costs. For protecting the lives of so many, Edward paid his price in blood. Memories of seeing his father on horseback still haunt him. Who better to take his place, then his own son? Thoughts like these keep the young teenager awake at night, troubled and restless. Even in a time of peace, he is aware of the danger beyond the safety of the three great walls. He has felt the terror of loosing some one to those monsters and the destruction they leave in their wake. The concept of titans is mostly white noise still to him.

Despite the tragedy of his past, Alec is excited for a chance to properly learn how to use the equipment his old man once wore so proudly. He has high hopes of Garrison's Stationary Guard, yet still finds himself wanting to follow in his fathers footsteps. Alec feels conflicted, and is torn between the two branches. He shows no desire nor interest in joining the Military Police.

For the last two summers Alec would argue with his mother about trying to sign up. Until recently Marissa had vehemently denied him each time the subject would come up. With his 15th birthday having gone and passed, so too had the 10th year of Edward's passing. One evening, while sitting outside with Alec, she quietly yielded to her son. Alec was quickly becoming a man, and wouldn't be a child forever, he could make his own choices. If he some how managed to get himself accepted, he had her blessing.

He now wears his father’s ring around an old silver chain. His mother parted with both items when he turned 13. Alec has not gone a single day without both ring and necklace on his person at all times.

After the first day of the oncoming Parade and talking with his friends Axel, Farvardin, Cyril and another named Shun; Alec had made up his mind and would go through with signing up. For all he'd argued with his mother, he'd been afraid and stuck in place with actually committing. It meant they needed to hire some one to take his place delivering. Yet he could better help his family, and it would at last fulfill his child hood dream to have some day been with his father in the military.

Alec is an active youth, and helps out his mother as an errand boy delivering goods from her shop Supply Goods. They are a well known business, and pride in dealing in only the finest goods. He knows how to ride a horse and control a wagon. In particular, he loves horseback riding. As the family only owns one horse, this happens infrequently. As he is a delivery boy and merchants son, Alec knows his way around town. He has accompanied his step father on a few trips into other walls to do business. Alec isn't as familiar with the other two walls districts, but wanders around wall Maria on a regular basis looking for things to do.

He has a little sister named Ashley who is 6 years old. He regards her fondly and is incredibly protective of his half sister. His mother Marissa remarried not long after her husband Edward passed, as she could not care for then a young son on her own. Remarried too Samuel Carlton, Alec has elected to not use the older males last name as his own. Alec holds a great deal of resentment for the merchant. He is rarely at home and travels through the districts. The two fight often, and are not currently on speaking terms. They moved back to Wall Maria several summers ago and setup a store front. Due to their moving around between Rose and Maria Alec lost track of his cousin and friend Rachel Mathiews. The pair are close in age, and got a long well in the past. The families had a falling out after Marissa remarried to Samuel, and the two now grown children haven't had a chance to speak much until recently.

((OOC: He is a fairly privileged middle-low class boy and has led an otherwise comfortable life with his family. He comes from the Shinganshina district within Wall Maria and is currently living in his home town. His only desire is to see more than just the small closed cage-like world they live in. IF the wall really does fall, the effects of loosing his home and risk of his family dying would be utterly devastating and propel him into putting everything into the military without question. While he complains about them from time to time, Alec's family is the center of his world currently.))

I find it odd that he "loves reading" but dropped out of school due to his dyslexia. I'd have thought that at that point, any form of reading would frustrate him? Perhaps it's simply that he enjoys stories themselves, and would excel in listening to verbal storytelling? (yee olden audiobook format!)

Approved.
