            History:

Willem is the third youngest of seven boys. Both his mother, Klara, and father, Ivan, as well as the lot of sons they've reared are alive. Despite three generations having passed since their settling in the country, and the contribution both father and son have given to the district of Karanese, the general public remains skeptical and distrusting of the Puskin men—and rightly so.

They are considered 'middle-class', and live rather comfortably in the scope of the setting.

Ivan, owner of a builder’s shop, a stern parent, crafty businessman, and a blatantly unfaithful husband, has made friends with members of the Military Police Brigade, among other high-ranking individuals. The relationship is a rarely seen one, and Willem suspects it is out of fear (and perhaps jealousy? Desire?) that his father obliges to the commands of the military. Still, because of it their family receives little open negativity or push back when Willem's father, or eldest brother Viktor, throw their hands into district duties they have no reason to. Ivan makes fast friendships with the willing women of the district, and due to the power of ‘friendship’, few are willing to say anything about it. In truth, most have lost interest in the Pushkin drama over the years. They won't tolerate it in their face, but his escapades are his own to deal with. And for Klara to suffer through.

Klara is a hard woman to get along with and incredibly stubborn. Her primary occupation is to Mother her youngest children, and to nurse her ill boys to health however she is quite the jack of all trades when necessary. She cares only for the preservation and security of her family, particularly for her youngest boys, and due to social exclusion she has become jaded and disinterested in forming relationships with the other women of the district. She is an exceptional mother, although some view her parenting style as harsh and primal. She is also a good wife, who tends to her husbands needs regardless of his adultery and enforces respect for him from all of her sons. She'd likely stand up for him in public just as well, if it came down to it. Willem believes this has a lot to do with her unfortunate isolation from the townspeople, and her fear of not only being alone, but also having to face societies ridicule if her husband were to leave her.

The family knows only as much as their individual connections allow when it comes to the Titan's. While they are, as a whole, given the typical history and information that passes from parent to child, the degree of belief varies. Klara, for one, insists that the Walls were erected for an entirely different, and highly political reason. All the scandals! Ivan's knowledge is purposefully kept under wraps, although he shares most of it with his pride and joy Viktor-- who has every intention of joining the Police force someday. The rest of the boys exchange their views on the matter discretely, if ever, and as far as Willem is concerned; so long as the Titan's never come back, he's happy.

Willem's relationship with his mother is decent enough. He wishes she'd get out more, but doesn't push the issue very far. He loves her, and despite their differences of opinions, the two often get along fairly well. (People need friends, a woman shouldn't subject herself to abuse in any form, Titan's DO exist... ect.)

Willem's relationship with his father is strained. He can see both the good and the bad in Ivan, but struggles to look past the overwhelming amount of BAD there is. He wants to be all that is father is not, and inherit the good that his father is/can be.

His father forbid him to work in the family shop after Willem threw around accusations involving Viktor and another male member of the militia. While both parties (Viktor and Ivan) dismissed the claim, both took to ignoring Willem for several weeks. So at present he assists a local baker in the transportation of, you guessed it, baked goods.

Willem suffers from impaired vision and Asthma, or whatever the equivalent title would be during this time period. Neither of these are debilitating, but in his youth the illness nearly killed him and in his teens he struggles with overexertion and sight at a distance. That being said, Willem pushes himself to the point of asthma attacks, eager to prove to both himself and others that an illness will not stifle his capability. He was the only unhealthy son until Boris, whose illness is unknown and progressively getting worse. Willem has taken a great interest in the medical field because of this, and aids his mother in the care of his youngest brother. When the Wall falls and his youngest brother's survivability plummets-- he, along with Viktor, Pavel, and Mikhail, enlist.

-Pavel (Third born, twenty-two) The opposite of Nikita, a smutty charmer much like his father. Fear of commitment. Is open about being a total d**k head-- like it or leave it attitude. Enlists, but immediately regrets the decision.
