The slums were once a bustling metropolis for the humans, filled with people going about their daily lives and spending their time in peace. Now the buildings and skyscrapers were left in ruins, the mark of the four clans painted everywhere the eye could see. There were humans still here, though many were chained and under the ownership of a horsemen or halloween denizen. The ones were did not have a owner were in serious danger of being killed. The horsemen would of course ignore these killings, and sometimes even encouraged such acts of brutality. It kept the FEAR going, after all.

It was a gruesome place, but one which Zanthvos frequented regularly. Humans were always being brought here and taken away, and the fallen angel was hoped that maybe, just maybe, one of those humans would be him. He didn't care what everyone else was telling him; Jason had to be alive somewhere.

But if he couldn't locate Jason here, he might be able to find someone else that could tell him. a demon perhaps, or maybe a human who had seen him around. Bad odds for sure, but he wasn't going to stop.

His blood red eyes roamed the streets, taking in the details of the ragged humans who ran at the sight of a FEAR-based creature. Some didn't even both to run, to tired or just not caring what happened to them at all.

Desidero had to admit, having a body was nice. The ability to feel, to breathe, to eat-to drink, to exist again with all those lovely perks of having to experience the growth in power he had as a weapon? Delightful. Now returned, he was slowly building himself up again. Raising himself to become higher, to gathering more in his ever persistent hunger for all things.

Much to his 'companion's' chargin.

Marcus had become something grim and altogether the very thing Desidero had wanted- something that was utterly his. Cass and Nicodemus had vanished- not known to be alive or dead, a thing that Dis held over Marcus to keep the ex-hunter from death's embrace- and now he existed to be a source of amusement for the vampire.
A source of pride.

He held Marcus's leash, literal and figurative. And it wasn't uncommon to see him staring knives into the back of the sharply dressed vampire as he was pulled after by the chain around his neck. Dramatic flair- Dis even made Marcus dress up for their 'excursions' to the slums. Slums where Dis would go to feed, to beat and torment humans unfortunate enough to cross his path.
All while making sure Marcus was forced to watch, unable to do anything.

So when a human ran towards Dis, not knowing just who they were fleeing from to who they were running to- The vampire saw an opportunity.
And the scream as the human's arm snapped in half echoed off the tall brick walls of the once well cared for buildings. "Now what would make little broken thing like you come running into my arms sweetblood?"

It wasn't uncommon to hear the screams of a tortured soul, and the dried bloodstains on the building walls were a testament to how often these things happened. So when he heard the human who had run away from him scream he merely shrugged it off. There was no reason for him to play the hero anymore; he would make as much difference as a drop of water on a raging inferno, so he might as well just let everything burn and carry on with his own desires.

He kept walking though, towards the shrieks of pain. He needed to go in this direction anyway. And he would have kept walking had he not seen just who the perpetrator was.

It was a shock to see them standing there. Zanth had been visiting this place for months and hadn't seen anyone he knew, and yet here these two were. Desidero, Marcus. Appearing out of nowhere. It was a strange sight to see, to say the least. He considered Marcus a pretty cool guy, he helped Jason out a few times and wasn't afraid of anything. Although now he was sporting a nice looking leash, and Dis was busy occupying himself with a human.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

"Perhaps it's because of how charming you are?" He spoke out, waltzing towards them at a leisurely pace. "Although I'm not sure how charming she would think you now." He stopped once he was closer, his attention directed at Marcus for the moment. "That is a very nice leash you have there. Very kinky. I think a ball gag might go well with it."

"Ah, so that explains it then!" Desidero laughed as the human limped away, sobbing, fleeing. Marcus's gaze following each step they took as they fled as if waiting for something to happen. To see yet another be picked off by others who had gleefully begun to prowl the slums in search of 'prey'.
"Zanth, my old friend." The vampire's words a purr, they didn't match the look on his face. Predatory, sadistic and unafraid to show it.

Marcus remained silent behind the vampire, twitching into scowl when Zanth made the remark on the leash. "As for my Marcus don't mind him. I need it else he'll go running off to look for things that no longer linger. Isn't that right my Marcus?" A tug on the leash sent Marcus forward to the touch of Dis, forced into a bow while his head was pet- not much unlike that of a dog. When he failed to reply however, Dis pulled back sharply on the former hunter's hair, making him face Zanth, face ugly with a raw bitter anger. "Better die free than live under you." Was the burning remark, and yet Dis didn't lash out only smile and let him go, resuming the petting of hair.

"He keeps things amusing. Anyway it's been a while- where is your pet? With how skittish he was I would have guessed he'd have stayed loyally at your side."

"Desidero!" He called back to him, laughing in the face of such brutality "It is such a joy to see you again!". He was quite familiar with a vampires 'blood lust', though he did raise a eye at the retreating human. He would of expected him to latch on to her throat and suck her dry.Perhaps that was what he intended to do with him? He couldn't help but smirk for it sounded like a fantastic idea to him. He'd have to consider a new change of clothes though, blood was a pain to get out after all.

He then watched Marcus as he was forced to bow for his 'master', intrigued by how much he resembled a dog now. He was even being petted! "Oho!, may I pet him too? He look so cute!" By cute he meant "ready to stab him in the back." Perhaps it wouldn't be such a smart thing to get on Marcus's bad side by adding to his torment...eh, oh well, he couldn't resist, "Does he like dog treats? We should feed him dog treats, then maybe he wont be so grumpy."

His laugher at his own joke quietened down when he was asked as to the location of his own pet. "Ahh~ the million seed answer, my friend." He sighed, and merely shrugged at the question. "I am not sure as to his location. I thought the same to his loyalty, but a certain someone had to appear and demand my presence elsewhere, and Jason being the emotional sap that he is handed me over."

"Oh, you can try. He's really quite unpredictable, likes to bite- A habit he picked up from me I think. But usually he behaves its just a matter of if." Marcus's eyes had rolled up, hate filled, angry, and yet at the same time challenging. Daring Zanth to push him, to test him. Give him reason to fight.

"Sorry, I'm not into poultry, more red meats." His voice was the same as it ever had been. Hard and reserved, yet laced with just enough emotion to betray himself. Betray his loathing for his own situation.

Humming that Marcus had even bothered to talk, Dis motioned for Zanth to join him walking. "A pity. Jason was... ideal. A ripe thing who was so..easy. Mailable it seemed. Have you looked in the markets? The dens? Jason was a fine fine specimen. I wouldn't have been shocked to see him captured and sold... But then-" Violet red eyes flicked up, looking for the ever common horsemen that would occasionally swoop down for prey.
"He was much more compliant. FEAR generating or not, well behaved humans tend to be treated better. At least by most with long term plans." Dis reached back, his hand going to Marcus's neck- and the various holes decorating it.

The minute Dis said he was allowed the fallen angel was virtually sparkling, eyes lighting up with delight. "Why thank you good sir!" His hand was held out ready, but he paused upon looking at the rage filled eyes of Marcus. Wow, he really was furious to the point of loathing.

"Oh...I see..." He nodded solemnly, eyes closed and arms folded. He appeared to be thinking about something, before opening them and with a sudden burst of speed, leaped at Marcus and ruffled up his two toned hair. "Aren't you a cute widdle doggy poo poo. I will feel you all the red meat doggy treats you want you precious little thing!" At this point he had both arms around the hunters midsection in a bear hug, cackling like he was a five year old.

He soon stopped when Dis motioned for him, and he moved to walk by the vampires side. "He was. It was stupidly easy to influence him. He was so gullible I could tell him there was a insanity titan under his bed and he would believe it! Ahh, the amount of times I told him something only to watch him end up in strife. It was hilarious to watch him scream! Oh, I wouldn't lead him to any real danger if I could help it." He added as a afterthought to Marcus. "But with our occupation, half of the time it was inevitable."

With a glance skyward, listening for the sound of rustling wings, he continued. "I have. Many, many times, I can't tell you how many times I've tracked down a 'blonde haired blue eyed human', only to find it wasn't him. I would imagine he would fetch a high price for his personality as well as his looks, but it seems he has managed to dodge the markets."

Zanthvos watched the vampire place a hand on Marcus's neck, and whistled at the amount of tiny holes littering the area. "I'm impressed Marcus. You certainly have a lot of stamina don't you?" He turned to Dis. "Are you giving him iron supplements?"

The reaction was near instant. As soon as Zanth touched Marcus the Vampire was holding the former hunter's neck while Marcus snarled snapped his jaws towards them both- his eyes filled with hate and disgust. He'd been so in control once and now? Now he was unhinged.

Still, he was once more reserved when let go, when Dis pulled on the collar. To walk behind them wanting to hurt them yet knowing he couldn't. Not anymore. Not as a human.

"I'll say it again- a pity. I keep an eye on the markets at times but ex-hunters are rare. Those found to be such..." His eyes went down a larger street, a pile of corpses rotting in open daylight, reeking of rotting flesh while crows picked at them.

"Marcus will die. That is something I have accepted. Yet as he once put it, I am greedy." The hunter now pet started to fume, fist tight and wanting to last out as Dis went on. "I will bring him over and remake him, make him forget that hus-"
"Don't you dare insult her." Marcus hissed.

Dis just smiled. "It's the last thing he fears now- the last thing he truly is afraid of." Somewhere in Marcus's eyes was a flicker of sadness. That horrible sadness of the reality.
"He'd afraid that he'll forget about her. Tell me, do you fear the same now, that he might have been..changed?"

Perhaps there was some relief at Dis holding back Marcus while he fulfilled his desire to treat the poor human like a adorable puppy. But that adorably puppy was most likely stronger then him. Zanthvos was not the fighting type of boil. His wings could be broken, as could his bones, with less force then some humans. Of course he had his own FEAR attacks, but they were more of a supporting and deceptive role then any brute force.

But he did note, as he pulled back to see Marcus snapping at him with teeth bared, that it probably wouldn't be a good idea to tell Jason about Marcus. Or Dis for that matter. Not that he disliked Dis, but he couldn't be sure the vampire wouldn't harm Jason if he wasn't around.

The smell of the rotting corpses reached Zanthvos long before he saw or even heard about them. And as suave as he liked to be he couldn't stop the cold feeling of dread in his stomach at the sight. Not that he liked to show such emotions, but his eyes did roam the pile for any signs. No, there wasn't any, good.

"Hmm" He nodded, raising a eye at the sudden vengeance Marcus had over the mention of what he assumed was his lover. Although Dis didn't seem too impressed either. Best not to pry into a lovers quarrel.

"Changed, you say? Perhaps..." Deep down inside he knew he was afraid. Jason could barely face his fears when he was around. Now that he was gone...if he ever found the ex-hunter alive, all he might find was a living corpse. "It's hard to know how he would truly fare in the outside world. On a emotional level..." Something he would rather not think about it. "However, if you are talking about a different kind of change...Well I have heard rumors. Some humans wanting to escape their fate. Or some horsemen wanting the ultimate source of irony. Changing humans into some grotesque monster so they could be used as tools until the end of time. Or until their fear runs out." He laughed. "If such a thing happened to Jason I don't think his heart could take it."
