Practice. The normal activity was soothing. It was almost as though things were normal between him and Zuri. And things had been normal ever since he had gotten home, or so he'd thought. There were always the little flashes of paranoia: Does she still love me? Does she forgive me?, and Biroki still felt on edge.
Still, things had been calm, and today he could pretty much forget his argument with her. He could never actually forget it, of course. It was burned into his mind.
He leaned on his staff in the clearing just outside their home. "Zuri?" he called, "Ready?"

Things had gone back to as normal as they could. They went back home and lived their life as they did before, but that didn't mean that everything was okay. Honestly Zuri had been thinking of going to Zena with the girls, taking a break from being around Biroki and everything. Maybe that was what she needed. However she couldn't just take the girls and leave. She had to give him the option of coming with them, even if she really didn't want him to.
"Coming." she said as she grabbed her spear and walked out of the house. She would tell him today, tell him that she was going to go and he could do as he pleased.

"All right." he said, watching his wife walk down from the house, spear in hand. She was still as beautiful and graceful and powerful as the day he had met her, in those trees so long ago. He smiled as she approached. She was powerful in many ways - physically and in will - but he thought that he might well win their practice duel. He had been getting stronger himself. He had not been out in the battlefield, blasting away enemies like she had (without the blasting part, obviously), but it was harder to mend than to break, and he had been doing a lot of mending. He felt pretty good about his chances.
Then again...
He had lost every fight from before. He smiled warmly at her, and was glad he wasn't a betting man.
"Are you ready?" he asked, letting his magic surface in a warm haze that swirled nebulously around him. He was ready. He was ready to put their trouble behind them and move forward.
And ready for this fight, of course.

The smile that he held for her she returned. The two of them had grown so much in the last few years, he wasn't the little stammering boy from back than. Their fight was enough evidence of that. He would have never done that before, but that was the new him.
"Always ready." she said with a nod before heading towards him with her spear, she miss stepped and the spear didn't even come close to hitting him. "So I've been thinking lately..." she started. She needed to at least start the conversation.

He knew her movements. He knew every curve of her body, ever secret it held. He might not know the woman inside completely, but who could? That was what he loved about her the most, her mystery. But her body... he did know. He moved slightly, concentrating as he sent lightning towards her. The air sparked, then vanished, as if in a missed attack.
But it was only waiting. "What about, Zuri?" he asked, watching her closely. She had missed but, if she hit him, he knew that she could be devastating"The war?" The war certainly was a lot to think about. He himself thought about it often.

As the lightning came towards her she knew that it wasn't going to hurt her. He was testing the waters, getting ready to attack. She knew the way that he acted, the way he fought. They had done this enough times that she knew everything about him. Well she thought that she knew everything about him. Now she wasn't so sure.
"No." she tried not to think about the war, or anything like it. "About home." she moved towards him with her spear, sure this one would hit. "My home."

The momentary distraction was costly. Sharp pains seared through his side, and he held his hand to the bleeding wound, wincing.
But it was not unplanned. His hand, tight over his wound, clenched as he pulled his magic out in all its full, firey force, launching a barrage of searing heat at his wife, focused into molten orange lances.
The air shimmered in its wake, and he felt that he should smirk, show her that he was, indeed, not the stammering boy of before. But something did bother him, aside from his new injury.
"About Home?" he asked, stablizing himself again, "Is it too s-small?" He had been thinking... since things were approaching normal, and since Ikkio and Ikuri were growing up, that perhaps he should add new areas to the hut. And, of course, he was hoping they could try for another child. That would require more space too. "Should I see if I can find a b-builder to help me build another room?" he found himself a little out of breath at the last line, the injury taking its toll. "Because I can. If you want." he watched her warily. What would the spearwoman do next in their duel? Would she use her poisoned spear on him? He hoped not. It hurt.

Fire, it was something that she didn't care for in any form, and coming at her was one of the ones she hated the very most. Zuri moved out of the way as much as she could, but she was still hit by some of the flames. If she hadn't been so fast she was sure that would have hurt way more than she would have liked.
"I mean Zena, where I grew up. Our house is fine." she looked back at it for a second before going towards him once more with her spear. The house was more than fine, they had a wonderful house actually. She just felt trapped in in recently. "I know you have your hands full here with your mother waking up, but I was thinking of taking the girls to Zena for a little trip." she said as a matter of fact. She didn't count on him coming, but she also wouldn't tell him no if he wanted to.

Biroki Uses Full Defense (Defense is 26 for 1 turn, Takes Half Damage for 2 turns) Wait Zena? What did she mean, Zena?! He was so puzzled by her statement, that he was unable to avoid the grazing strike of her counterattack. He hissed in pain and entered a defensive stance, holding up his staff protectively, ready to block her hits.
"What..." he managed, through clenched teeth. His injuries hurt. They hurt a lot. He knew it was temporary, but right now... ow. "What do you mean?" he asked, "Why go to Zena?"
Why now, when we are still at war? he asked, but not out loud. He didn't like that people - including himself - had returned home, when it was clear that the war with Oba was far from over - it had only just begun. He thought it would be more rational to block the pass - or, better yet - to strike back.
But he didn't make the decisions. Not yet. Perhaps one day, he would. But Not yet.

He needed to pay more attention. Even though the two of them were talking, this was still a battle and she wasn't going to go easy on him just because they were talking about a sensitive subject. "Well Zena is my home, I want the girls know more about their heritage. I mean that was why I ended up coming down here. They deserve the same right." she said as she moved to go and trip him up.
"They are getting older, I rather take them with me than risk them running off." he girls had a lot of spirit in them, both of them, she wouldn't put it past the two of them to run off together if they wanted too. "It would be safer if they went with me, people still remember me and my father's name still holds weight. Plus Alek might be there. We could stay with him."

Her home?! Hadn't they made a home here? Wasn't this home? Jahuar? He didn't like this, not at all. Distracted, he didn't see the trip attempt until it was nearly at his feet. He hopped back and away, biting back an unmanly yelp as he restabilized his fighting stance. He wasn't the yelping sort anymore.

He noticed the shimmer of electricity around her and, not wanting her to try another trip on him, he let loose with another intense blast of lightning, setting off the trap around her. he held back, catching his breath as he waited for the flashing lights and ozone smoke to clear.
He also took a moment to think. "T-thats fine." he said finally, clearly not fine with it at all. Going away? Like this? So soon after the fight? "I guess it is their... heritage." though he hadn't ever thought of his little girls as anything other than shifter, like him. He wished it wasn't so unsettling to be reminded of their foreign heritage. It didn't bother him with Zuri - obviously - but...
"What makes you think that they'll... mmm" he stopped. No, no questions until he knew the results of his spell and made sure she was all right... because it occurred to him that a lot of power and impulsiveness had just barreled towards her.
