The rain started sometime last night -- coming down hard enough to wash fresh flower spouts from their soil, and to remind some of the older kin of hard days past, when such a storm cause a catastrophic flood. It is not that bad this time, though it has hardly slowed since then, has soaked the earth and drowned much of the greenery.
The ground has been turned to slush and mud, making finding ones way through the swamp a difficult matter. Here and there, what looks like it's solid terrain gives way and a hoof sinks deep into the mud --
Or worse.
Mechanics for WP03: Stuck!
This WP involves two or more players!
One character has somehow managed, through clumsiness or bad judgment or simply poor luck, to become mired in mud or trapped in debris. The other players are tasked with extricating the victim from her unfortunate circumstances.
Make a new thread in the RP forum labeled [WP03] (KIN1, KIN2, ETC).
To begin with, the stuck victim rolls 1d100 to determine exactly how stuck they are, one being "not very stuck at all and could probably get out on their own if they weren't being so helpless" and 100 being "call in the backup this is an ugly situation." If the roll is under 30, you have the option of either rerolling, or adding 25 to your roll (gambling!).
To begin the rescue, each rescuer rolls 1d10. A low number is not much help, a high number is a major breakthrough. The goal is to match the victim's number or exceed it. You will keep track of your rescue rolls in a running tally.
If the victim is not unstuck by the time eight rescue rolls have been made, the situation worsens, and she will need to roll 1d10 and add that to the goal number. Eek! Alternately, the victim can gamble, and roll a 1d20 instead. A roll of 10 or less, and the victim's roll counts as a rescue roll! If it's higher than 10, bad news--that's a lot more work to undertake. You only have to make this additional roll once, but if you WANT to gamble again after eight more failed turns, you are welcome to!
When the victim's target number is matched or exceeded, she is free!
This prompt does require two players or more, but if you want to play a rescuer AND a victim in one thread, that's fine! You will just need to recruit another rescuer as well.
