Things had been wonderful since finding his friends again. Yet... nothing could change that Kole could see the humans outside of his windows all the time. They were everywhere! And, though he preferred the night to the day, he couldn't hide inside the house all the time. He was used to being able to wander; and not be stuck within such confining walls with fear. And he didn't dare leave a window open without someone else home, lest some human climb through for... something.
So, as the sun began to sink low, and the outside crowd thinned out, he slipped out the door and ran for the woods.
He ran until he couldn't hear the noise of the city anymore, and let out a breath of relief. Free! He wiggled the grass between his toes, inhaled the damp spring air, and smiled brightly. It was so nice to be outside.

Chayy had been growing steadily used to life in the city after his changes. He had (with plenty of help from Trace and Arashi), learned to spot the good, edible food and to push past the inedible. How to forage through the dumpsters behind various eateries...and how to run like hell when it looked like they were close to being caught.
It was an interesting life, this city. Nothing like the trees and bushes of the forest, but the city was certainly a lot less scary now that he was no longer pokemon sized.
Still...there were some days...like today when the others had seemed preoccupied with stuff, and Chayy had felt stifled by all the noise where he longed for the forest. He did promise to take Trace.
But maybe...he should investigate it first. There had been that fire after all. He didn't want to take Trace to some withered husk that hadn't regrown...and so he made his way there when everyone was busy with things he didn't understand. ...and breathed a sigh of relief when he finally saw all the green.
It was so nice to be back here! A tension he hadn't realized was there, began to loosen a little in him, and he smiled as he surveyed the surroundings through his cracked glasses.

Kole waited a moment, letting the feel of the ground under his feet and the breeze in his hair and the quiet in his ears sink in. Ahhhhhh. This was the place to be! He felt safe and calm in the woods.
Still wearing that relieved and content smile, he went on further into the woods. By now, he knew where he was and where he'd been. He often traveled to where he'd woken up, but never found anything new. Today wasn't that kind of day though.
He pushed through some bushes, swung under a low tree branch, and nearly crashed into another boy. A human out here?! Panic gripped his chest as he propelled himself backward with a yelp until he hit the branch he had just swung under. Then he got a better look. Another half human like him and his friends! Oh... Warmth rose in his cheeks, as did an apologetic smile. "S-sorry."

Chayy had been lost in thought as he closed his eyes, head tilted backwards a little as he let nature surround him, and relax him in ways he hadn't realized he'd needed since he'd found himself looking like this in the alleys of the city.
In fact he was so lost in thought he hadn't sensed in any way that there was anyone else out here. Not until he was crashed into anyhow which sent him stumbling a little even as he whipped around to see who, or what had hit him, surprised Italian coming to his lips in response.
"Quello che il ...!?" (What the...!?) he took a deep (and calming) breath realizing it wasn't a Growlithe like he'd momentarily feared but another person like him and his new friends. It brought a smile to Chayy's face, and the surprised note melted away, as did the Italian (he had quickly learned that not everyone spoke it, or understood it, but it did slip out quite often, especially when he was surprised by something).
"It's alright it was an accident. You okay? You ran into me kind of hard." which was fine, he was okay. He just wanted to make sure the other kid was too!

Brushing the seat of his pants, Kole pushed himself up and nodded. "I'm okay." The other boy looked okay. That was good! And he wasn't mad either! The smile was reassuring.
"I was just going too fast. Not used to other bein' out here." He smiled bashfully again, and gripped the ground with his toes. "I never seen you before. You live around here?"

There was a shake of his head at the question, Chayy looking around the forest again, a sort of wistful tone entering his voice. "No...the forest I used to live in had a big fire awhile back, and I got rescued and dropped in a park in the city. This is my first time here actually. What about you? Do you live around here?" Well if the other said he hadn't seen Chayy around, it did sound as if he might live close. Lucky kid... oh sure Chayy liked being around the guys, having his friends but he did miss the forest at times.

Kole's eyes widened with sadness and empathy. "I'm sorry to hear that. I'd be so sad if these woods burned.." He pursed his lips slightly at the thought. Where would he be able to escape to if the woods weren't there?
Kole cocked his head slightly. "..Around. I used to live out here, but then I changed... and now I live with my friend in town." He smiled softly. "I don't like living in town, but I'd rather be with my friend than be out here alone." His little black ears twitched, and he stuck out his hand. "I'm Kole. I don't mind if you move here."

Chayy couldn't help a soft chuckle and he shook his head a little. "It's okay, I was too scared to be upset, and I've made friends since I was dropped off in the park, so it's not all bad! I just hope too much of the forest didn't get burned." "It's good to have friends to stay with isn't it? I'm doing the same. I couldn't exactly keep living in the park given how big I am. I don't fit in bushes anymore!" Chayy gave a laugh, poking fun at his own height, he was a tall child! His hand reached out and he took the others awkwardly, this was his first time shaking hands! "I'm Chayyim, but you can call me Chayy...and thank you, but I don't think my friends would like me to come out here on my own, and I'd miss them!" what he wouldn't miss was that rival gang of Growlithes that liked to cause his friends trouble. "Looks like we both had the idea to escape the city for awhile tonight." Chayy grinned at Kole as he spoke. "I forgot how quiet it can be out in a forest!"

A smile rose, and he nodded in understanding. It was good to have friends. "I don't have my pumpkin to hide inside of anymore." Kole sighed wistfully. That pumpkin had kept him safe before. He missed his security blanket.
"I'm glad you have friends to stay with. I'm glad to be with mine, too, but I still miss the woods a lot." He frowned and looked out through the trees. "I miss the quiet."

"A pumpkin to hide in?" Chayyim looked curiously at the other, trying to place what sort of a pokemon he could have been. He knew there was new ones being discovered all the time, and there were so many he didn't know. "What kind of pokemon were you before you changed Kole? I was a little burmy. It's so strange being so big!" A nod of understanding was given as he settled right where he'd been standing, it was more comfortable really, and smiled. "I miss it too, but I have some really good friends that I'm glad I'd met and I'd miss them more than I do the trees and all." Cornetified Sorry for the delay in replying. Between painting my apartment and general exhaustion I've had little time to write.

Pointed ears twitching, Kole looked over at Chayyim's confusion and gave the boy a small smile. "I'm a pumpkaboo. Or, well.. I was one." He still wasn't sure how this whole part-human thing worked... "Strange, yes.. It's nice to be able to get around so easy now. I used to have really short legs and no arms.."
As the other boy talked, Kole's smile rose more, and it was his turn to nod in understanding. "I have my friends in town, too. They're the only reason I don't still live out here. I met them back when I was still a pokemon, and one of them got a house when they turned, so I get to live with him." Lirilei <333 No worries! The next couple weeks will probably see slow replies from me as well~

"Ohhh...I don't think I've ever seen a pumpkaboo before. I know there's a lot of pokemon I've yet to learn about. Humans are finding more and more of us all the time it seems." he listened to the other and gave a smile. "That sounds like a really big change! I was...this big." he held his hands apart to illustrate the size he had been. "So being this tall is strange..and now I have to wear glasses which is also weird." "Trace and his friends are the main reason I haven't come back out here. They've helped me so much...and still are. I don't know how well I'd get along without them. Though...I don't do so well in the city. So much to learn, more dangers to dodge." gangs to watch out for! "Oh wow a house! That was lucky for your friend! We live on the streets, but its not so bad if you avoid the morons in that other gang." morons indeed!

Kole smiled bashfully and nodded. "I used to live out here, so I guess any others like me would do the same." He paused and lowered his gaze. "Humans aren't so great to be around anyway."
"My friend is teaching me about living there. He knows a lot, an' we take care of each other." Brow rising, he looked over to Chayyim curiously. "Gangs? What's a gang?"

"These are very nice trees and all. I think it could be very peaceful to live here as a pokemon." He could see the beauty of the place very easily, and knew he'd have been very happy living here before he'd changed. "I have very little interaction with humans...which is probably for the best. The one time I did, I think they wanted to arrest me."
This question....how to best answer? He looked thoughtful a moment. "Gangs are....groups of people who in some cases tend to not be very nice. Or at least the one I've dealt with is full of not very nice pokemon. Trace and Arashi and their friends are a lot nicer...but I guess they're technically a gang too." this was harder to answer than he thought it would be!

"Arrest you?" Kole cocked his head. "I don't.. don't really know why, but I've never liked humans. They're dangerous."
With the explanation of gangs though, the confusion was clear in the boy's eyes. "So, it's a group. They could be bad, but could be good." His lips pouted out slightly. "How do I know which'uns to stay away from?"
