Al left a single trail of prints in the sand as he wandered aimlessly along the beach. He was here to clear his mind mostly. A lot has happened in just a few days. He felt exhausted but at the same time, he couldn't avoid it. Avoiding is what got him in this mess. There was no rest for him, not any time soon anyway. He had a lot to consider. Things were... awkward. So awkward. He didn't want them to be and yet there it was until things were figured out.
He paused and glanced out at the water, a strong urge was swelling inside him to just roar out all his frustration at the waves.

Another day, another bar of soap found along the beach. With a wry grin, America dropped it and a pretty little shell into her back. Glancing toward the water, she considered going in for a rune dive or maybe just a nice swim. It was hours until her next shift and her swimsuit was cute as hell for just lounging around on the beach for awhile.
Her eyes landed on a familiar back and moments later five feet, seven inches of redhead was jumping on his back. "Heeeeeey, stick boy," America laughed. "Haven't seen you in awhile!"

Al gave a loud yelp of horror and flailed his arms, "GET IT OFF!" This was evidently his idea of a manly war cry. But as the horrible evil creature on his back spoke, it occurred that perhaps he only succeeded in embarrassing himself. He settled down and cleared his throat, "I mean, I'm not a stick. Or a boy."
He he tried to stand a little straighter with or without America still clinging on, "I'm a man."

The girl hung on, wrapping arms around his neck and knees about his waist. "Ohhhhh, I don't know," America began with exaggerated doubt, "I'm pretty good at telling boys from men, honey. Is that what you've been up since I saw you last?" The idea of Al, the floppy, half-trained puppy, as a man, had her grinning widely.

Despite his best efforts, Al failed miserably in keeping the whine out of his tone, "but I am a man." He slumped his shoulders like a scolded puppy. God she was heavy. He was not dumb enough to vocalize that last thought.
"What do you mean?" He glanced over his shoulder at his assailant, "what do you think I've been up to?" He hooked his arms around her legs for support before resuming his walk a bit. If she's going to stay up there, might as well be productive in doing so.

America soothed his boyish ego by laughing at his claim to manhood. "Maybe one day, honey, but at least you seem a bit taller. Bit less of a princess, though," the disappointment in her voice her was clear.
At the question, she leaned forward and rested her chin on Al's head, and grinned. "Ohhhhh," America drawled playfully, "maybe you went on an adventure or two. Went into the woods to find yourself? Maybe wrestled a bear or chased squirrels. Maybe you got shot at and tortured because your boss is a d**k. Ohhh! Maybe you followed some girl home and shacked up with her for awhile." Her tone had taken on a teasing leer, "Is that what you've been up to, hmm? Breaking some poor girl's heart?"

Al hunkered down at the laughter and again at the demeaning use of 'honey'. He looked thoroughly scolded, like a dog caught stealing food off the table. "I'm no princess," it was said softly, more like a suggestion than a statement.
He turned his gaze upward at the uneven load. It wasn't even fair, you can't even begin to try and argue with America. Before he knew it what she was saying went extremely south and he quite clearly shook beneath her with embarrassment as the rest of him turned as red as his scarf. "N-no! I didn't do any of that!"
He looked back down at his feet, still trudging along.
"I like someone but I don't think they like me anymore," it was said with a little squeak of dismay.

"Ohhh nooo!" America cooed, "You're such a good little cutie, that can't be right." She leaned forward further and tightened her arms in a hug, smooshing Al's head against her tits and rocking slightly. Being Leslie's comfort pillow had encouraged habits. "Have you been taking romance tips from Scotland? Cause I gotta warn you, he's not the best source of romantic advice."

Al went really quiet and stopped walking for just a second as he felt something warm smooshing against his head. Was that?... Yeah... It... it was. He puffed up just a little bit and started walking again with a slight swagger.
"Naw I have not. I've been going at that part alone. I just... made a really bad impression. I think."

"Yeah?" She asked thoughtfully, remembering the first time she'd met him. Al wasnt really great at being impressive in any way. "Was it the boy smell or did you do something stupid." America sniffed his hair and it wasn't Maebe-good, but not as if he'd spent a week joyfully rolling in his own boy-filth either.

Al had most certainly taken a shower recently, so at least he got away on the smell front for now. "I think they like how I smell."
His pace was slowing down again, "it's just..." At least America made it easy to come right out with it, "the did something stupid thing."

One hand reached up to pinch and pull at Al's cheek, "Oh yeah? So what was it? C'moooooon, tell me. Tellmetellmetellme!" The girl was clearly eager for a bit of gossip.

Al yelped and squirmed away from her pinches. "Aw c'mon, don't do that," he whined pitifully. His face hurt now, which wasn't a half bad distraction from other pains.
"I just... I sort of got scared by the idea of that sort of relationship," he was still rubbing his cheek. "So I ran away and hid. But I thought about them every day and I just." He was interrupted by a long drawn out throaty sound of dismay. "I really like them and I want that now but now they're dating someone else."

"Ooooh," America began, ignoring his complaints. "Seemed like long-term, huh? Well I don't blame you for hesitating, that s**t's scary as ******** when you're all young and cute and want to like, sample all the things before settling in with just one person." There was a distinct possibility that America was projecting at this point as she thoughtfully kneaded the boy's scalp. "But y'know, even relationships that seem all long-term serious business end up pretty short at our age. Just sayin. So if they're young too, chances are they'll break up with this other person soon enough anyway. Still figuring out what they want an' all."

Al bobbed his head enthusiastically. See, she understood it. There was just one finite point he was still holding out on. "I just don't want to like. Be in the way if it is like... true and s**t. I want hi-'her' to be happy. Just I... I dunno. I want to be happy too, but I'm trying to leave it up to them?" His face was almost long enough to drag along the sand.
