I got to thinking this morning GCA. Should the Gaia Casimir Alliance be confined to just Porta Denia or should it have branch offices in all of the known towns on Gaia? If we went with the GCA having local branch offices then Porta Denia would be the headquarters and there'd be the Barton branch, the Durem branch, the Gambino branch, and so on. This way people with a strong affiliation with a particular canon town can be members of a local branch. It would further strengthen the image of Gaia not only bringing together people of all different species and races but also people of all different town affiliations. So what do you think, a one town organization or a Gaiawide organization?

We should be a National Organization with offices Gaia-Wide.

Maybe a witty spin to it would be to, rather than letting the Alliance be branched, have it be branching only now. Of course we don't want to bite off more than we can chew, but there it is anyway. I guess it comes down to dependence on how much we want this to be a tidbit of background info as opposed to a proper approach to RP. Either way I'm all for it. WE KNOW NO BOUNDS.

Have it spread out and grow like the roots of the banyan tree that keeps the floating island of Denia afloat now because Gaia is in danger of plunging into eternal darkness. It would still fit in with our goal of trying to show the GCA is an equal opportunity all inclusive organization. 3nodding

I had always assumed there was some sort of presence in the Gaian towns for Port Denia. After all, if one wishes to visit without an airship, a air-taxi service is certainly a possibility. Not to mention multi-town chain restaurants, stores, etc.

Not to mention multi-town chain restaurants, stores, etc. Oh most definitely there would be a presence for Porta Denia in the four towns just like there would be for Dref Dur in some of the towns (my guess would be more Durem and Akea seeing as Gino knew nothing of it before). However, would the GCA be simply an organization that's known only in the floating towns or would it be known on the mainland as well? Because it's more than just an alliance of airship captains. You don't have to own an airship to be a member. You can cultivate casimir trees or simply study them and be a member. All it takes is a shared interest in what powers the airships and a desire to protect them to join. And with the recent need by the Goddess Gaia to bring together those who support her we're looking to expand our ranks with those who align with the Temple of Gaia. That's why it's important to begin establishing branches within the mainland towns.

As I have begun re-writing my character profile, I've already incorporated Nhimic's interest in plants (specifically casimir trees, but not solely) and maintaining them in "inhospitable" environments (like Aekea)... I would certainly be open to seeing, say, a test lab of some kind dedicated to the studying of them in similar situations. So....BRANCH! 3nodding

I have an idea to incorporate the colors for each town into the basic logo for the GCA.

So a question here gang. We all know the four main towns have colors that represent them. In doing this little additional project for the GCA I got to thinking about what colors could be used as the official town colors for Porta Denia. So what two colors do you guys think would best represent the town the main HQ for the GCA is located?

If I were to guess, I'd say the GCA could be 'known' on the mainland, but rather obscure. Sure, it's open not just to airship captains but also to anyone else with an interest in Casimir trees...but Casimir trees themselves were kinda obscure knowledge before Xmas 2k9, so even if people had heard of the GCA they wouldn't understand what it was about.
Regarding colors, it would probably be best to pick colors that aren't similar to the established colors of any existing town. That means not yellow/orange since that's Barton, not blue since that's the Isle, not Black/White since that's Aekea and not Black/Red since that's Durem. What does that leave...green? Purple? Pink? I wasn't here in 2010 so I don't know, is Green already a prominent color for Porta Denia? Even if it wasn't, of course, it wouldn't hurt to make it so now since we're allying with Gaia.

Green and silver, or silver and purple. Addendum: maybe even purple and blue.

Green and silver, or silver and purple. Addendum: maybe even purple and blue. Hmm, those are definite possibilities. I am digging some shade of blue to represent the sky and maybe either a white or cream to represent clouds.

So my towns branch logo idea didn't quite work out as I had thought it would. The brush I made of the leaf just doesn't work with certain colors and no matter what I did the Durem one looked bad. It's a shame because it would have been a good idea too if I could properly execute it.
