Delilah -anon-

PostPosted: Fri May 02, 2014 5:36 am

Am I allowed to make a thread?

In front of you is a small child, one hand clutching what was once a letter, but now little more than a crumpled and slightly wet and blurred piece of paper, the other holding up an injured panda plush to hide teary grey eyes.

"Am I... Am I doing something wrong?" she sniffled.

"I've sent a few gifts... and I found a thank you thread for me the day before. I was very proud, because the person seemed very thankful for my gift. I went to see it today, to maybe find someone else to give gifts to, but at the end..."

"I know I am not a very good anon, and maybe I am not very clear with my name because I want my impact to be in the experience and not in my name, but... I think I count as a real anon. Don't.. don't I?"
here she paused to bring the panda slightly down so that she could more easily look at you. Her gaze could be described only as that of a heartbroken child, yet she seemed also pleading, as if hopeful that you could assure her, or help her fix her mistake.

----------------------------

[[My reaction when I read through the thread was actually pretty much like Delilah's. I mean, I'm aware that my English isn't the greatest, and my prose is pretty bluh, but that was really harsh, man.
It was late in the afternoon, and you were taking a walk in the park. This park was more like a small forest- trees every which way, and small clearings where various playground type amusements and picnic benches had been erected. It was in one of the smaller clearings where you found her- a little girl barely reaching your waist, on a swing which was the only thing in the clearing aside from the two of you. She looked lonely, so you approached. When you told her that though, she shook her head, dainty curls swinging, and corrected you. She was sad, not lonely. At further prompting, she revealed that she'd been thinking about bunnies. She had heard that for a while last month, people had been giving little baby bunnies as gifts to children. She remembered the survival rate of hamsters given to her schoolmates, and was worried for the little kits. Well, you assured her, bunnies are bigger and tougher than hamsters, and I'm sure the parents will make sure the bunnies are taken cared of. She still looked a little dubious but hopeful, and you had to repress a smile at how cute she looked like that. A noise suddenly sounded, making you both jump, and you remembered you had meant to meet with a friend. Pulling out your phone, you quickly apologized and excused yourself. You looked back for a final goodbye, only to find her...gone? Feeling an unexplained cold chill wash over you, you hurried away. Later when you went home, you would remember a little girl named Delilah, and not much else. (But you would be very concerned about bunnies for the next week.)

That was the message. I was trying to match it with the gift- a wishlist sort of bunny mood bubble? Everyone seemed to think it was pretty cute, but then this guy comes out and says she needs a REAL anon.
I don't even care if I'm not being manly I'm pretty sure this is as good a reason as any to turn out all the light and weep into my pillow.
But really, what am I doing wrong??? I really want to know so this doesn't happen again.]]

Honestly? I wouldn't put too much stock into what they said. Some people are just jerks like that.

[[You're probably right, but I can't help but think there must be something that made them think that way in the first place. Every smoke comes from a fire, and all that jazz.
idk, do you think maybe I should try to make the name more obvious? Or maybe I should try to make it so that Delilah directly talks to the recipient instead of the story? People like poetry and letters better than stories, right? gonk ]]

It really depends on the person, as everyone has different likes and dislikes. That said, I like the name, and the story was cute cat_4laugh . Stories can be just as good as Poetry and Letters, and I've seen a few anons who do really well with stories (The Horror Twins are an example). Just do what you love and you'll find people who appreciate it. I know I appreciate what you and the others do. cat_3nodding

People are such butts, they get on my friend for not saying hello to them in like a fishing room.

So don't taking what a few people say, because they are self entitled little twats with nothing better to do than berate others. Just don't take what they say to heart.. sure it doesn't feel good. Some cannot be made happy no matter what you do.

//patpat

I know a lot of other anon's do stories and they are as just a big a hit as poems. Heh even I do copy pastah stories a lot because I can't come up with new things to say on the spot,
So I give anyone props on customizing a mini story to fit what they are gifting.
lol

Yeeeaaaah... This sort of stuff you just have to ignore. They have no business saying what's a real anon and what's not. You're gifting anonymously? Then you're a real anon. Well, not those jerks that gift with hateful messages attached (not talking about in-character messages). They don't count.

Stick to the message style of your choice. ^^ If everyone else likes it, keep going. You shouldn't haven't to change that over one or a few Negative Nancys.

I'm a massive hypocrite for saying this, but don't let criticism bring you down. Some people are just jerks. There's nothing wrong with your style, and there's nothing wrong with your writing. I wouldn't even be concerned about your English.

A sad thing I've noticed lately is that a lot of people have been being jerks to and about anons. It would be best to try and ignore this person.

{ 'Real' anon? What the hell? I've half a mind to find this person and give them 'real' with a side of duct tape and a cleaver through their thick head. I find nothing wrong with your message dear. You've taken the time and energy to create something and bring joy to people, which is far more than that ungrateful t**t's probably ever done, so they can stuff it. You're an anon and you should be proud no matter what anyone says! emotion_hug }

Honey, whoever said ya ain't a real anon can go stuff it. They ain't worth yer pretty words.

Yer bein' real generous by gettin' out there, an' you're showin' some real courage by givin' your written work ta strangers.

If that person has a problem with it, they can go gift themselves the pretties an' write their own pretty message if they even can. But since they'd say somethin' that rude, I'm guessin' they can't, so they double lost messin' with ya alone.

You keep writing, and keep sending letters. Ya got a wonderful story that people that aren't fishin' out sticks will love.

"Wh-Why would someone s-say that..?" questioned the mechanic. He was appalled at such behaviour.

(Sweetie... Ignore the jerk. That person is not worth your time. As for you having trouble with English, I've seen more native speakers make typos than a non-native speaker. Myself included there. Your writing is very good! Don't let one person discourage you.)

The small child's eyes widened at all of the positive attention she was getting.

"Th-thank you all so much!" she giggled, though it was interrupted by a hiccup or two. Her eyes still held remnants of her tears, but they were now filled with happiness rather than the sadness of before.

"U-um, I suppose, maybe I was a bit silly to question my being real before. As Miss RandomKate said, since I gift anonymously, that should be enough proof that I am a real anon. But, thank you all for the words of encouragement!

I, um. I am actually a git guilty, as I stopped gifting for a while after this message. When I tried, I would be scared that maybe my story would not be good enough. But, you have all put in the effort to say such nice things, so, I will go back to gifting immediately!"
she finished with a happy beam in your direction(s?).

[[adsdafsdfggfd so many people saying such nice words
thankyouthankyou guys so much >////<
ahhh now I feel pretty silly for being so hung up over this. thank you guys for dealing with my stupid silly self u////u
I probably won't reply to all of you one by one since it would all just be me saying thank you over and over again ._.
yosh! now I have an even bigger resolve to make people happy with my gifts!
I'm sticking to my little stories, but from now on I'll try harder to get better at English, and ignore people like that guy!I want to make people happy, so I'm not going to quit being an anon or anything like it. I'll just have to work on being a better anon until the next event!]]

honestly this person sounds like a jerk... I'm sure everyone has had something like this happen to them at some point... someone told my friend cause she was an anon she doesn't deserve gifts... People can say the meanist things... the way I see it you have a whole anon community behind you to back you up, people who complain are either just asking to be shunned or trolls... so I tend to ignore them.
