It hurt like a b***h. He couldn't remember the last time he got punched in the face, and he forgot how much a swollen eye hurt.
I keep telling you. Less yappin. More shootin. But you keep going. It's like your mouth is a windup toy that never stops.
"I can stop." He corrected her, dropping more eye cubes into the plastic bag before wrapping it up in a clean cloth and setting it on his eye. Oh, that felt MUCH better.
He sat down in a chair in one of the smaller kitchens, adjusting the bag and hoping it would at least calm down the swelling. He had been lucky he didn't take his goggles off before fighting or else he would probably be missing an eye. Thinking about it made him wonder how he hadn't missed a limb or some other vital body part by this point.
Dumb luck. You're dumb and have luck.
"Doesn't feel that way."

In a daze, Otto had walked into the wrong room. He felt a little off kilter lately, ever since having a rather rough time with Maebe. Tenya, having been a bit miffed at the encounter, failed to properly heal his scratches and hickies right off the bat. They'd heal eventually, but the female in his mind was having a teenage tantrum of her own. He blinked sleepily, looking around the kitchen until his blue eyes fell to Melvin looking... odd. He blinked again. "Oh.. wrong room.... uh, you fall on a doorknob oorrr...?"

He watched Otto wander his way in, looking more asleep than awake. He wondered if someone was even getting enough sleep, especially when Otto was probably still growing, but then reminded himself that Otto wasn't that young. He just had the sort of baby face a lot of hunters he saw had. It didn't help that Otto also dressed like someone still in high school, but considering it, he doubted the blonde could wear much without still looking as if he was late for class.
At the question, Melvin had to just blink with his still good eye. "Do I come off as that clumsy?" He asked. "No. I got punched." He didn't need to elaborate much on why.
"Can you tell me if this is looking bad?" He said, pulling the wrapped bag of ice from his face and revealing a swollen eye that was nearly swelling his eye shut and a mix of off-yellow, black, and purple in color.

"Oh. Yeah, that makes more sense." Melvin getting socked in the eye didn't surprise him at all. In fact, he wondered why it didn't happen more often. Hell, if Otto had to spend more than an hour with the man, he'd have two black eyes and kicked knees. Of course, Otto's patience was thin. Melvin removed the ice pack, and Otto didn't hide his reaction at all. His lip curled, his posture flinching as he regarded Melvin's swollen eye. "Yeah wow.... no. You look, like... gross." He waved at his face in general. "Might wanna... tape that s**t to your face." He said in regards to the ice pack.

"Damn. Thanks for not softening it." He said, and actually meant it. He didn't need anyone lying to him or buffering how bad it looked. Without his glasses, he wondered what he could do to make his face look less awful. "Guess I'll see if I can pull off a eyepatch until it heals."
He adjusted the ice bag and placed it back on his face. "Lesson learned. Don't upset someone with brass knuckles." He watched Otto and leaned a little, having a harder time trying to make out details without his glasses. "Are you...okay?" He could only make a dark shape on the blonde's skin and wasn't sure if Otto was wearing some sort of dark jewelry or had hurt himself.

It was a loaded question to be sure. Did Otto still look miserable, or did Melvin know about Nevada? Wa it the new bruises, or was it because he was looking tired? Too many things that it could mean. The teen lifted a sleepy brow high. "Uhh... depends what you mean?" His voice ripe with uncertainty. He wasn't in the mood to share his feelings as much as he had been when he was drunk for a week. Being sober felt better, but it also closed off his inhibitions some. "I mean... things ain't peachy, but when are they ever..."

"I mean you don't look good. Are you managing?" He asked, guessing specifics were needed.
Haven't you asked enough questions for today? Have you forgotten what that girl said already? Do you want to make another girl cry?
Otto isn't a girl.
Well he doesn't eat enough to be a man.
Melvin decided laughing for no reason would have been a bad mood, but Saliva did have a point. "You..don't have to answer that." He guessed, as much as it pained him to say that.
"I guess peachy is what you consider it. Not missing an eye is what I consider peachy, but being punched still sucks. Peachy in living. Not so peachy in being miserable. Just..." He didn't know where he was going with this. There were reasons why he asked more questions than just talked. "...yeah."

"Uh..." He watched Melvin has he rambled, the slow blink coming back into play. Maybe that punch to the eye came from asking questions again. "Yeah, sure. Managing." He responded, uncertain what Melvin was talking about specifically. It wasn't as if Otto was any stranger to scars, although the marks from Maebe would likely fade within a couple days. "Who did you piss off?"

He was slightly reluctant to admit he was beaten badly by a woman, but he then reminded himself that he didn't exactly have a winning streak of any kind to give him any sort of pride to then be hurt. He sucked at fighting. From Peyton's speak, he sucked even worse at talking.
"Peyton." He adjusted the bag. "I asked her something when she was already upset. Thus.." He pointed to his now swollen eye.
He'd leave out the part about making her cry. He already felt like s**t.

" Oh." Otto whistled. Who knew Peyton could pack such a punch. Then again they were all hunters with significant power. "She's my cousin." Because small talk was better than no talk. "I can see her gettin' pissy though." She seemed the pissy type. Heaven knows why she tried so hard to be nice to him. He certainly didn't ask for it. "But uh... yeah. Don't be you when a girl is pissy."

Melvin just looked at Otto. "Really? That's some great advice, Otto. If I could not be me and just turn that off, I think I would have done that ages ago. Maybe in several parties and meetings or even with people I'm close with." Rin would probably enjoy a Melvin personality off button. " I'm not saying everything about me is bad, but..." He adjusted the ice bag and decided maybe he really shouldn't be talking about this to someone who didn't even know him.
He just sighed. Maybe he was just getting worse at this. Much worse. His reputation as the worst person to talk to was going to stick with him to the point that he wasn't going to be able to talk to anyone but Rin and Rep. "..forget it."
There was one thing he could at least do.
"Because I doubt she wants to see me and I don't want to damage the other eye, can you tell her.." He had to take a breath to say it. "I'm sorry."
"I may have accidentally pushed her about her sister."

Luckily or not for Melvin, Otto wasn't giving real advice. He was being blunt, as usual. The poor guy seemed to deflate after attempting to defend himself, and Otto almost felt bad. Almost. The teen nodded anyway. He'd pass on the apology to Peyton if he saw her within enough time before he forgot all about it. However, Melvin's tidbit made Otto's brows lift. " Ooooh.." Another knowing noise left the teen. "Family is a hot topic for her. She gets all... weiiird." Otto grimaced. "Like really weird. I don't get the whole fascination at all."

He looked up at him. "Well, you are her cousin. Maybe you should talk about it. She seems really....really broken up about it. She was beating the pulp out of the training dummies when I found her."
He looked down at the table and then to the side wall. "She...did tell me a few things as to why she's upset." He wasn't sure he should be saying anything about it, but wasn't Otto family in a way? Then again, Melvin only asked questions so he would know. He never really shared what he found out with other people. Wasn't that just gossiping at that point.
He bite her lip, wondering if he should admit something. "I...might have made her cry." He glanced at Otto, worried.

"Ehhh...." Talking? Consoling a broken heart? As if he needed that baggage. He himself was still reeling. He'd be no help. He didn't want to get involved. He could still recall the awkward memory of himself and Peyton having lunch with empty space. "Maybe..." He grumbled. Otto was sure Melvin was going to elaborate as to why she'd been upset, awaiting the information patiently. But he didn't. "Cry? How?" Otto asked, "Did you like.. make fun of her podded sister or somehin'? And I thought I was insensitive."

"No! I didn't make fun - I didn't do that. I was asking her why she was upset, but she wasn't really saying why she was upset, and then she finally blurted it out and then started crying." He said, trying to defend himself and paint a better picture. "I wouldn't make fun of something like that." Well, not on purpose anyways.
"I thought since you her cousin, you might know more about it."
