Nuru whined and moaned annoyingly. He couldn't return to the pack without lunch, that was madness! Thankfully for him this minty colored girl named Euanthe decided to assist him, even after he may of sort of accidently caused her to get a possible, highly unlikely, itty bitty concussion. Wasn't his fault the stupid cliff was there. Why couldn't they be like flies and just move out of the way when Nuru bit at them. Oh wait, that wouldn't have helped, they still would have just fallen flat on their faces.
But now at least that wasn't a problem. Bird catching was easy, fun even and- "Three!"
Wait what?! "Uh... Uh, three! Nuru pounced up from the spot he had been sitting and very inelegantly started to prune himself from any lively bug infestations his fur might contain. When Eua started counting down, the male wasn't even looking in the proper direction. So when she said "three!" the signal to pounce, suffice to say he wasn't prepared. He ran awkwardly, nearly tripping lousily over his own four feet, and jumped while making chomping noises to try and crunch down on a bird's wing.

Nuru made a humming sound as he himself tried to calculate the exact amount of birds they needed to return to his pack. There weren't that many hyenas for a pack per say, but there were quite a few mouths to feed. Oh, and some puppies had been born recently, that was always exciting. Puppies automatically increased the amount of mouths they needed to feed by... A lot more. He honestly didn't know by how much more, he only knew it was obviously more. Like anyone of the street couldn't figure that one out. "Um... Err... Fifty two... Hundred. Million. No just a thousand is good." He started mumbling incoherent speak as Nuru's hyena brain attempted it's bet at math. "No, no, just one hundred. For just fifty." In terms of feeding the whole pack, Nuru deduced that fifty birds would be enough. Oh.. But he couldn't catch even one bird, how was he suppose to catch fifty?
"Just three more and I'll be able to go home." He nodded to Eua confidently. He had seen one of the other hunters return home once with half a gazelle carcass and the whole graveyard shrieked with pleasure. If he brought a couple birds, in his mind, it equalled out to the amount of half a gazelle carcass. Even if it obviously wasn't even beginning to equal out to that amount.

As the day had longed on Nuru also did not take notice to the amount of birds they had managed to capture. Although, it was perfectly understandable that dusk had begun to crawl its way across the landscape by the time he did take heed of it. The birds were so darn hard to catch, and birds weren't completely stupid like Nuru had imagined to himself quietly. They were smart, and no same flock was going to stick around while two deadly -and hungry- hyenas lurked around every corner. It would have been suicide to do such a thing, with the dark pelted one jumping like a cat and the light colored one lunging by surprise.
That wasn't to say they wouldn't find luck elsewhere. In fact they had collected six more birds from varying areas.
Nuru would leave first through the day long hunting session. Already by this point afternoon had peaked and shifted on it's way, so the hyena had to be quick in his efforts. He would slither through the grass trying to be as inconspicuous as possible with his black neck fur sticking out amongst the cool green savannah grass. Finding a small group of three or four straggling birds sticking by Nuru would pat on the ground to earn the attention of them, being awkward in all his gesters as he was. Euanthe would then take from behind, hidden as well as lizard on a leaf she would spring through the air and tackle one to the ground. Nuru would then come charging out and n** on any birds who still happened to not take flight.
Rinse and repeat.
Now he tired looked at Euanthe. He was panting between breathes, utterly exhausted from his effort (however little) he used throughout the better part of the day. Ah yes, it had truly only been a day. And yet he felt as if he had known her forever. In reality he knew next to nothing about Eua as did she about him. Yet... Yet.... "Let's go see the moon." He suggested. When she looked confused he rose from the grass and shook out his fur. He was dusty and didn't like being dusty since it made him sneeze.
"I mean when it finally comes up. I've never seen a moon not in the graveyard before." It was pretty sad now that he thought about it. Only had he ever viewed the orangey yellow blob softly resting on a endless fog littering the skies above him. Never had he seen how big the moon really was, nor how beautiful it was often praised for being. Oh, except for maybe once when he was little. The fog cleared enough that night to see a star twinkle along with it's brightness. Hmm, oh well now he was attempting to fix that wrong.
"So what you say? Let's go do that?" Of course, he knew what her response was going to be.
Leasano Good spot to end it? If you want to add one more post feel free.
