It was Naevius' first journey into the forests of this mysterious land all by herself. Previously, she had been accompanied by the rest of the army, and there was safety in the masses and out here alone, there was none. Armed with only her practice whip, as she was still a "prentice" and they would not allow her an actual beast tamer's whip no matter who she was. But, it still suited her fine. Nae always felt better with a whip in her hand. Fear buzzed in the back of her mind but she dare not let it spread to the rest of her body. After the great battle, Naevius became fairly curious about these people they were going to enslave. Was it even worth the effort to enslave them? Or would it be better to just kill them all? It wasn't her decision, of course, she just followed orders, but one had to think. No, their king was right, they should be enslaved and serve the higher race, the Obans. Her mind rambled on as her eyes were wide as she tried to see in the dark forest. She was used to the bright desert conditions of Oba, not this moist, thick air of this dark place. Naevius' nose wrinkled in disgust, how did the keep their clothes dry? Her own clothes hung limp on her body, her shirt tight on her torso and her pants big that helped keep any shrubbery from rubbing against her skin. Taking deep breaths, she reminded herself why she had decided to adventure out by herself: to find some of these Tendajian beasts. Nae took great care to try and remember exactly where the army was, this land was unknown to her but she knew animals were likely to stay far away from that mass of earthlings. Checking her waistband, she made sure her small knife was still there just in case. It had been urged upon her to wear one just in case anything were to happen. The Oban's always treated her with respect, and any disrespect or harm to her could be dealt with harshly. But out here was different. Nae stuck her sharp chin forward defiantly and marched onward. a pet dino Whoops, I guess Nae really wanted to talk! XD

Lasarra left most of her creatures at home, but only because they weren't really trained for war. Izsha knew commands such as stay and attack, so she was useful at war. At that moment Lasarra was climbing through the trees, swinging from branch to branch. They had lost the war, but Lasarra hadn't been able to think of anything other than the giant beast she had seen at the war. She had never seen anything like them, and she wondered what other creatures were over there beyond her grasp.
As Lasarra went from tree to tree Izsha followed slowly on the ground. Izsha wasn't worried about anything, and was mostly scavenging the ground for fruits. The two of them would be going back home soon, but Lasarra wanted to make sure she couldn't capture a Oban beast before heading home. Lasarra whistled and Izsha's head perked up and the animal headed towards Lasarra's location.

The young Oban had been lost in her thoughts as she continued her own little march through the forest. Naevius was keeping her mental map yet still preferred to travel in, what she hoped, was a straight line. So far, the forest was devoid of life! She had traveled quite a ways yet she had still seen nothing. Could the Tendajians have killed all the animals in this area so they would have no food? It seemed like the barbaric kind of thing they would do. That thought made her furious, not only because they needed to eat (even though they brought plenty of provisions and had supply trains going already) but the thought of the mass killing of animals infuriated her. As her thoughts started turning angrier, so did her steps. Her dainty shoes left soft impressions in the forest floor. It was then, when she thought about giving up and heading back to camp where there was likely a general there to scold her (kindly) for wandering off alone she heard a faint whistle. Her head snapped in that direction before other sounds came from her left. She crouched down to watch a magnificent creature cross right in front of her. It blended in so well with it's surroundings had it not been for the foliage moving she might not have even seen it! Wow.. She thought to herself. She started slowly following it, her curiosity getting the better of her even knowing the whistle meant a Tendajian was likely nearby. Knowledge was power though...she HAD to learn more about these animals, and this one was the first she had seen. Nae would NOT let this one go without studying it. She kept herself pressed to tree trunks, avoiding their flowing fungi as if they were the plague as she followed the beast thinking that would shield her from any unwanted eyes. Naevius hadn't even thought that the barbarians might take to the trees better than the forest floor.

Izsha was almost under Lasarra when Lasarra noticed that someone else was on the floor. Her eyes narrowed, there hadn't been anyone out there eariler unless she missed them. But she rarely ever missed noticing people, and if she did Izsha heard them. The person couldn't be from her side of the war, which meant it had to be a Oban! She waited for a second, not making a move. This girl didn't look like a fighter, but she did have a whip on her. That meant she was a beast hunter, right? Or did Oban's use that as a normal weapon? She hadn't seen anyone use it on the battle field, but that didn't mean anything.
Her first thought was to attack the girl, but than she thought better of it. If this girl was a beast tamer than she would know about the Oban beasts, and that was something that Lasarra wanted to know about. After fighting with herself for a second Lasarra dropped down in front of Izsha, her eyes where Naevius was hiding. "Come out of hiding. I saw you from up top the trees. And Izsha can attack you if I command her too, so don't think of running." and with that she made a clicking noise with her mouth and Izsha was at her side, her teeth bared. This was going to be interesting.

Unfortunately and fortunately, Naevius didn't follow the beast for very long. Fortunately because she didn't wander too far from her path. Unfortunately, because a girl dropped from the trees and made a clicking noise bringing the beautiful beast to her who started baring it's teeth. Well, it was over, and she had been spotted. There was no point in running, as the other had surprisingly stated, but she would not be taken prisoner. Folding her hands in front of her, Naevius made sure all her hair was parted correctly, she pulled herself up to look as big as she could before stepping from behind the trees. The Oban's expression was hard to read, if anything, she looked bored, but inside, she felt defiant...and scared...and regretful. The girl in front of her had skin almost the same color as the beast and she didn't wear much clothes, which made sense since it was so hot. She had an even cooler whip than she did. Nae stepped forward, her chin up and standing tall. Her steps were precise and measured. While she didn't want to make herself seem noble, she didn't want to seem weak either. "You are Tendajian." It wasn't a question, just a statement. Gesturing with her right hand, she pointed to the beast, Izsha, "The beast belongs to you? It's magnificent." She supposed playing nice would be the best option...for now.

As the Oban came out of the shadows Lasarra looked her over. She had not seen one that looked like this before, on the battle field, but there were many people so it was possible that she just didn't see the girl. When she said that Lasarra was Tendajian Lasarra smiled. "And you are Oban." she said with a smirk. The girls face was not one that she could read. Was she scared? Happy? Maybe the girl was against her own kind and happy to find someone else? Lasarra couldn't be sure really, it appeared as if the girl was bored if anything.
She walked with an air that was unfamiliar to Lasarra. Who was this girl? When she pointed at Izsha pride filled Lasarra. Maybe she was a fellow beast tamer, that would mean she could answer the questions that Lasarra had. It was just a matter of if she wanted to or not. "Her name is Izsha. And yes, I got her when was just a pup." and with a click of her tongue Izsha relaxed, though she still kept her eyes on Naevius. "What brings you so far into the forest? You must be... Hot?" she said as she looked at the other girls outfit. It wasn't very practical.

Naevius still couldn't believe that the Tendajian had come out of the trees. Did her fellows know that they were in the trees? This could be very bad for them. The forest was all around them, right now, there could be a bunch of them around her. That thought only put her on edge that much more. The Oban's eyes flicked back and forth between the Tendajian and the beast. The other smirked when she stated that Naevius was Oban. Was there something funny about that? Or was she just reveling at her luck to find an Oban by herself with relatively no protection. She must not let the Tendajian know that she was here by herself. Likely, the other already knew she was by herself, but in the chance that she didn't, she had to do what she could to not let the other know. When she had mentioned the beast, the other had swelled with pride. It seemed the other was a beast tamer as Naevius had thought. It seemed the beast's name is Izsha whom the other had raised from a pup. The Tendajians must do that to make it easier to tame. Abducting animals from their parents would figure for them. "I wish to know more of your beasts. I find them interesting in their own way." Nae said nothing about the heat. It was sweltering, though it was the humidity that was getting her. Was it really that obvious?

Lasarra looked at her for a little. Just staring, weighing her options and what she should do. She most likely could capture the woman, with Izsha by her side it was possible... But if there was one thing that she knew about the Oban it was that they were tougher than they looked. Plus they could trade information. Well that was if the girl had any information for her. Maybe it was best to find out that first before she decided what to do.
"I want to know more about the large beast you use to attack us. And if you had many other animals there. Maybe we could exchange information?" she asked with a raised eyebrow. As long as something was gained from this whole thing than she wouldn't feel bad about not attacking the girl. She realized that neither of them had introduced themselves... She didn't want to be the first, but if the girl did have information for her maybe she would give it up.

Perhaps things were not as bad as they seemed. The Tendajian seemed to be in deep thought, no doubt trying to figure out which way to skin her. It would be unlikely that Naevius would be able to get away without getting mauled by the beautiful creature (the beast not the girl). It was now Nae's time to weigh her options as the girl suggested that they exchange information. Ah, how interesting. Though, it made sense seeing as how they probably hadn't seen as magnificent a creature as the ones that the Obans had used in force. Nae knew she just couldn't give a Tendajian this information...the the other had said exchange... Giving the other girl a once over, and then looking again at the beast Izsha. "Perhaps we could come to some...arrangement." Was all Naevius said. She definitely wouldn't be the one to go first even though she had the lower end of the deal. Maybe if she even just drug this out for long enough some of the generals would notice her absence and send soldiers looking for her. That was always a possibility. But one step at a time. Nae leaned delicately against a tree, the toe of one of her shoes set lightly into the ground in a very relaxed looking pose.

She watched the girl relax and smiled. "Well it is clear that I have the upper hand here, after all you are alone and Izsha isn't the only beast I have here with me. I could just take you back and get information from you, or let the less kind ones do it..." okay so in reality there was no way that Lasarra would do that. It was just cruel, and other than Izsha all her other companions were at home. Still these were things that the other girl didn't know, and she looked far to comfortable for Lasarra's liking. She had to shake things up.
She looked around for a second before sitting down and leaning on a tree that was close to both her and to Naevius. "So I think that arrangements will be made." she took out three fruits from her pack, handed one to Izsha and than offered one to Naevius. "My name is Lasarra." there was no harm in offering up her name. Plus she was curious if the Oban's names were all similar to her people's.

Naevius' face was devoid of emotion until the other started speaking again. Her eyes narrowed slightly at the other's threat. But, unfortunately, she was right. The other did have the upper hand and it was very disconcerting for her. Growing up in court though, taught her to keep her cool in situations like this, even when they were dangerous. When the other, Lasarra, sat down on the floor and took fruits out of her pack, she had to wonder if she was trying to poison her. Figuring that if she handed one to her beast they must not be poisonous she sat down against the tree she had been leaning against, folding her feet under her even though it would mean she wouldn't be able to get away as quick. "Nae." She said curtly, figuring not offering up her full name was a good option as she didn't want to Tendajian to know just how important of a person she is. Eyeing the beast again, Naevius sighed. "We'll alternate then." She couldn't even know where to begin. She didn't want to say anything about their grand beasts that were their secret weapons. "We have other beasts in Oba. In the few water sources found throughout Oba, the fish that reside in them can grow to massive sizes. As well as on the southern coast. There has been talk of a giant water beast fisherman have taking to calling the Lenal. It has been spotted in the ocean on the southern most part of Oba and is thought to be the cause of recent disappearances of fishermen and children who play in the water. Fishermen believe it may be a species of fish we call Lenos, a fish that doesn't normally grow too big but is fairly intelligent but isn't known to attack Obans. Only one of these Lenal have been spotted, but it isn't unusual for fish to grow larger than an average man. What is unusual is it to only be one of this giant size." Nae stopped, hopefully that would be enough for the other to tell her of some of their beasts. a pet dino Just making stuff up, XD basing the names off of their gods and making variants of them. Lol

Either this girl was fearless, or just good at hiding her emotions. Either trait was one that Lasarra respected. Part of her expected the girl to run, or even just talk her way out of it. But when the girl sat down and started talking. Although Nae was a short name, it was one that Lasarra would expect a Tendajian to have. It was strange to see that a place that everyone on both sides saw as different, really wasn't that different at all.
As the woman talked Lasarra listened intently. Although she personally could care less for anything that lived in the sea, she knew that Ray like to hear about the sea creatures. It was enough for her. "Animals evolve, but fishers also tell tales. You can't always tell the difference." she said with a shake of her head.
"Well Izsha here is known as a Radaku. She is tame so if you want to touch her you may." With that Lasarra made a hand signal and Izsha moved towards Naevius, waiting to see if Naevius would reach out. "They can be trained as companions for war, or just companions. They are extremely intelligent. Izsha knows more than ten verbal and physically commands." she was proud of this fact, especially since she was the one to train Izsha.

Naevius' long winded response left her somewhat breathless. Being of the station that she is, she was more used to listening to others talk that much and having to say very little in return. Sure that sounded kind of stuck up, but it was just how things were. Taking a bite of the fruit she had been offered, she took a moment to determine the different flavors to make sure she didn't taste anything off. Quite the opposite of what she was expecting, it was amazing! It was juicy but not too much so. Nae made sure to eat it fairly daintily to make sure not to get juice on her face or clothing, which was a difficult feat in itself. She had to nod with Lasarra's response to the Lenal. It could just be a fisherman's tales, but when there were things you wouldn't want to believe in Oba, they were probably true. The other began to talk about an animal that was called a Radaku, which was the breed that her beast was. Izsha, Izsha was it's name. Hearing that it was tame was either a point for the girl, or the Tendajians as a whole for figuring out how to tame animals. As Izsha moved towards her, she had the momentary reaction to grab her whip, but the fruit in her hand forbid that. Reaching out, she touched the Radaku's soft side and then it's crystal like horns. It would definitely be fearsome in battle. When the other finished talking, she learned that Izsha had learned more than ten verbal and physical commands astounded her. They must be intelligent in that case. "That's quite a feat." Nae offered. Studying Izsha, she took in every detail that she could. And unfortunately, had to think about how they might be beat in battle. "In the deserts of Oba, there are also small dangers. A small reptile called the Tunnal buries itself under sand waiting for it's next victim. It's skin is scaly and thrives in the intense heat of the desert. It's scales have two layers, one for protection and defense and then a normal layer to act as it's skin. It's protective layer can stand up on will and has some sort of poison that it secrets. Victims are found with small puncture wounds, normally on their feet and lower legs. The poisons effects are unknown at this point. I'm sure you can imagine why most are weary to study it. The largest we have seen and recorded was as large as a man's forearm." Naevius said as she gestured to her own forearm in example. a pet dino I'll have to do that! I'll start making a list. LOL

She smiled when Naevius at the fruit. That was good, that showed a little more trust than just the exchange of information. She was surprised at how the girl was eating it though. That was just odd, than again they were from different parts. Maybe it was normal to eat so carefully? Or it could just be Naevius that ate like that. Most likely she would never know, she didn't see herself conversing with any other Obans ever.
When the other congratulated her, or well Lasarra took it as a congratulation, she smiled. It was a feat, most people couldn't do what she did with Izsha. She would be the best beast tamer in all the lands, even Oba. That was her goal and in a way this girl was helping her. She would be the first that knew about the beast over there. That gave her an advantage.
Her eyebrow shot up. "We have deserts too." and plenty of dangerous animals that lived in. Seems like it was something they had in common. However poison? She had never dealt with an animal like that, and she really didn't want to. She would be careful when going on their deserts, and she would tell her people to do so as well. "We have a creature called Suhurama that live in the deserts, they are the most fierce of creatures. They are very large, we call them fire birds. Few have seen them, and from those that have seen them fewer live. We find people killed by them more often than we have people talk of seeing them." she frowned for a second. That was one creature that she didn't want to deal with.
