Because Reaper dedicated phone companies had yet to figure out how to control skellyphone text spam, it seemed every so often a spam message would just pop up in inboxes or even Critter. Said text would read the following for anyone who had, or were within skellyphone range:

AN IMPORTANT TEXT MESSAGE
COME JOIN US FOR THE MAGIC OF HUMAN WORLD MOVIES

Prizes to be won! Magic to be made! RVSP. Amityville Academy Auditorium, Sometime Tomorrow After 2nd Lunch

It didn't exactly say how to RVSP, but the Amityville Academy auditorium was indeed open the next day, and bustling with all sorts of strange DETH propoganda such as posters with Human-shaped cutouts done up in glitter saying things such as "A HUMAN SAVED IS A HUMAN LOVED" and "HAVE YOU HUGGED YOUR HUMAN TODAY?"

In the very center of the auditorium, between the hundreds of seats created (though only a small handful of them were occupied) was a film projector, and in the very front of the auditorium a very large projector screen.

"Votes up in front, votes!" A spherical sort of slime demon, dripping questionable substances, came around with forms and haunted pencils. The paper was listed as such:

MAGICAL MOVIE NIGHT PAMPHET

WELCOME TO THE MAGIC OF HUMAN WORLD MOVIES:

- In this seminar we will observe and educate you on a popular Human World horror movie and what makes it scary but human friendly. After that everyone will be assigned into teams to make their own horror movie (Humanly ethical) and potentially win a grand prize of 10, 000 silver pumpkin seeds as well as an honourary DETH member t-shirt! All movies created will be showcased in the Halloweentown Movie Frightfestival in a month! Good luck all participants!

Please select the very humane movie you would like to watch:
1) Addams Family
2) Beetlejuice
4) Cabin in the Woods
5) Casper
6) Coraline
7) Corpse Bride
8 ) Jurassic Park
9) Pan's Labyrinth
10) Shaun of the Dead

The movies are all very unfamiliar titles, but hey, whatever sounds best right?

OOC

About DETH: DETH is a fun-loving humane organization that LOVES humans and advocates all sorts of human loving! They are always seen organizing Human events! They're kind of like the kinder version of PETA in Halloween.

WELCOME TO THE MAGIC OF HUMAN WORLD MOVIES!

- Please feel free to have your student OR horsemen OR Hunter in a golem drop by! This is open for anyone with an open line of communication! Feel free to take a seat, mingle, talk to others and take a form and fill out the POLL icly. When your character is making movie choices, please post it in BOLD RED. At the end of Saturday, at 5 PM PST, I will compile all the poll forms and select one movie which will literally be livestreamed on Saturday at 8-9PM EST (5-6 PST) where we will literally play the movie
- The livestream is OPTIONAL but if you are coming to the livestream, a link will be posted in this thread during updates. Just click on the link and enter. During the livestream movie duration, please edit your screen name to your character's name. You will be live RPING in the livestream as the characters by posting any comments you post in the comments section as actual IC character dialogue
- So to repeat myself: if you choose to join the stream you will come in to the stream, watch the movie, and react by posting in the livestream chat as if it was your character talking out loud about the movie to others. Out LOUD, not text form!
- We will not be able to compile the stream chat, but hopefully some characters will get some fun RP an and experience out of it! For those who cannot join for this time that is no problem you will NOT lose out! A summary of the movie will be compiled and it will be ICly explained and mentioned, along with any "DETH" notes about the movie, so your student can ICly know what is going on 100%. Basically the stream is entirely optional but fun and the movie will still be outlined and explained to people who could not make the stream! You will still have plenty of opportunity to RP with your group/ etc afterwards!
- After the stream/ etc/ another update will be posted. This will assign everyone to film making groups. These groups will have to go out and make a scary Human-world movie with the props and items they are given. The goal is to film THE BEST MOVIE EVER. I will give more information on how movie filming works! Good luck all and have fun!
- Once again everyone with an enrolled character is invited! Yes you do get bonus rp points for doing this whole round of RP so please do come!

It filled Selene with pride to see her organization take up the mantle of research using the movie industry as their weapon of choice, just as she did with her own students. It further cemented her wavering assurance that she was a good teacher, making the right choices for her scarelings. Surely she was, if DETH itself took the same steps towards human relations! It simply overjoyed her to no end.

So of course she was there, supporting her community and her cause with great fervor; her DETH button was half the size of her chest, so large it looked more like a top than a button. She fluttered down the aisle of the auditorium, heading straight for the projector and the helpful citizen offering his services for the evening.

"Hello hello my fellow human aficionado, what a pleasure it is to see a fellow DETH associate out doing the good work, yes! Such a pleasure, indeed! My name is Professor Selene Apophis, an employee of this fine establishment you find yourself in, and oh, oh is this the list of movies that the students will be voting on? How lovely, I'm so terribly curious to see what you've chosen - "

Selene had done extensive research in the human movie industry in order to prepare herself for her classes, and almost all of the names on the pamphlet were familiar. Familiar, and in some cases, remarkably disappointing. Oh, there were perfectly fantastic choices of course, such as the Addams Family, Casper, and Corpse Bride - but Selene's critical eye was focused more on the bottom of the list.

"My dear, may I have a word," She whispered, leaning in close to speak without causing a stir. "Have you actually pre-viewed these movies in advance before offering them to the students as humane options? I feel compelled to warn you, those last two - why, they're positively ghastly portrayals of humans terrorizing our kind. I dare say they'll advocate the opposite effect you're hoping for! There's mass killing of zombies by humans in that last one! No, no, you simply cannot - oh, what has my beloved DETH come to?"

Was she crying?

Yes.

Yes she was.

"Look," said the round (very circular) slime demon, huffing angrily. They began to sweat globs of slug-shaped slime balls and took out a pink handkerchief to dab at their single eye, "this, this was hours of time and research. Also I have watched Shaun of the Dead several - not once, but several times. It is totally about the empowerment of Humans over their Fears and knowing that even in despair, Humans can help themselves, those brave, ferocious, wonderful humans, bless them."

A single slug slid out of their eye.

Tears still flowing, Selene stamped her tiny foot in what should have been a sign of determination, but just looked pathetic and sad. "Shaun of the Dead is propaganda created by the go-" Her voice squeaked, and she looked around warily, before waving her hands in the air. "Created by the man - " A term she'd picked up from dear Argyle, "-to brainwash scarelings into believing that humans are destructive hating machines by nature and we should.. we should.. we should just.."

But by then, her ability to speak had been overcome by her tiny, hiccuping sobs, and she put both of her hands over her mouth, trying to hold them in as they bounced her body up and down.

Between a hiccup, she managed to squeak out a faint, hurried, "Well it's just not right, I say!" before another hiccup took her. "I believe in peace between the - " Another hiccup "- between the -" She wasn't going to get much else out now. She was distraught.

Andrew liked movies. The sound of movies was great. The little text message manage to lure him out and about. Especially the part about silver seeds. yes. He sat and waited with the others and stared up at the list.

He didn't want to see Jurassic park he saw that one in the human world already.

And not Shaun of the dead, Olivia was a zombie. He didn't need to watch them die. He could do that well enough thanks.

Andrew picked one that sounded relevant to his interests. Maybe it could give him some tips. (Maybe dealing with his own love problems)

Corpse Bride

This was secret ballot right?

Llyr wandered in looking vague and thoughtful and picked the first thing he saw.

Movies were...kind of a 'meh' deal with Kane; hit and miss, and the guy didn't even really know what his "taste" was since he didn't really go and watch all that many to begin with. The teen wandered into the auditorium not knowing what to expect, but certainly he wasn't expecting to see a teacher crying near the front where the event's apparent frontman was.

He blinked at the sight, then quickly went on his way after giving a slight nod at Prof. Selene and the round, slimy demon. Half of his brain was wondering what exactly had gotten the professor so upset, and the other half was soon pouring over the list of movies that he was supposed to pick for the...event...thing. Yeah.

Of course he didn't know what any of them were about, so Kane ended up picking the one that his eyes landed on first (Coraline). After handing in his vote, he set his eyes on a seat near the middle of the auditorium and made his way slowly toward it. There weren't too many students yet, so with any luck he'd make it to his would-be seat without any trouble.

His eyes widened at the movie that Llyr had picked up and he nodded enthusiastically at the choice. That would be a great way to see how people reacted to large reptiles right?! Or at least… maybe the picture was a very strange sort of Dracolich.
He was so picking it anyhow.

"Professor, are you all right?" a solicitous voice inquired. If Selene looked, she would find a tall, hooded figure offering the end of his scarf and trying his best to look concerned rather than lecherous.

Amarus was not bored so much as she was actively looking for something to do. As a result, though she had neither Critter (as far as she knew) nor a skellyphone (she wasn't sure what had happened to the one she bought with Mac, but since she no longer had it that didn't seem to matter) she managed to spy on someone who had opened their skellyphone to the message. She read over their shoulder, hardly bothering to seem inconspicuous.

"Who do you RSVP to?" she asked the student, who idly replied that they didn't know, it was spam, before they realized she was a stranger asking them about their texts. They objected, audibly, but she was already on her way off somewhere.

Deth. Deth was behind this? Amarus tried to internalize the grimace and ignore the sparkles and posters.

Still, movies sounded good. She wasn't sure which sounded better. For a moment, she smiled, thinking about Enzo when she mouthed the word beetlejuice. But the smile turned sad at the edges, remembering he wasn't going to be at movie night.

She ticked off Cabin in the Woods, pretty much at random, wanting to get it over with as fast as possible so she could sit down and go back to doing nothing.

Hamika had heard of DETH some.... ages ago now it seemed. She wasn't all the rage about it, but they didn't seem too crazy. (Not that she'd ever hug a human. Gross.) Besides they were showing movies! Movies were good right? Yes.

She was really just here for the movies. Actually making one of the things was a bit... beyond Hamika's scope. Perhaps she could document the process instead for someone?

She made her way up to the table and picked a movie. None of them made sense but at least four of them started with Cs. Clearly one of those was the best idea.

Coraline it was then!

---

Spiridon, on the other hand, did not know what DETH was. He really didn't understand why you'd want to hug a human (not that he could, being a ghost). What was the point of huggging a human? Or loving one? What was love anyway? And what would happen if they took his shiny!? THEY'D TAKE HIS SHINY YES THEY WOULD.

It took him a good five minutes, given the others around the table, to actually go up and pick one. He fiddled with his stone half a dozen times. The titles made no sense to him, at all. So he picked one at random, because why not, and high tailed it out of the crowd and up against a wall.

He really hated crowds.

Spiridon chose: Jurassic Park

Harrow was trying -- emphasis on trying, yes -- to be more active, to do more extra-curriculars, to put some real effort into his studies. He was trying to put himself out there, even if that hadn't actually resulted in any friendships or real progress. Not yet, anyway. There was still time.

So he was here: here as a sign of progress, sneaking in quietly to stand in the back of the classroom and flushing, just faintly, when someone approached with a sheet of paper with a pen. He'd take them, somewhat instinctively, with a thank you that was barely audible and sideways flicker of eyes left and right before focusing fully down on the page.

The words there were -- unintelligible titles for movies he knew nothing about. Harrow's eyes scanned down and then back up, around the room again, and then he nervously made his way to a seat to make his selection. The pen skipped around a bit, crossing out a couple titles decisively before he made his decision.

Addams Family

There had to be something there, at least, that he could identify with.

Mayaa was here because glitter. Maybe also movies. And maybe the possibility of making EVEN MORE NEW FRIENDS because making movies together was bonding material, right?

Considering she had no idea what the movies were about, she only picked the one that sounded kinda fun. Because Juraasic Park was totally about parks and having fun.

-------------------------

Mia had been rather fed up with the spam messages, hence why she hadn't bothered with her critter account in forever, and while movies weren't really something she was looking forward to, she was lured by the mention of prizes. Because really, 10k pumpkin seeds could buy her like, 10 outfits ok.

She picked Coraline, because it was a pretty name which automatically won in her books.

--------------------------

Jalaja didn't care much about movies or prizes or humans, but, well, movies were a decent way to pass time she supposed. And bother other students. And make inappropriate comments.
And so she picked Corpse Bride because weddings meant ROMANCE and steamy stuff which was all she was interested in, really.

He was delighted to see his new feathered friend at the gathering.

"Pachua," said Llyr happily, gliding over to the boil and wrapping his hands around his arm (clearly he still hadn't learned the concept of personal space), smiling brightly at him before letting go. "Did you see all of the things here? There is a dragon on one of these things, what do you suppose that means..."

"Llyr!" He returned the greeting, fluffing his feathers slightly at the embrace but not REALLY shoving it off. As soon as he had a wing free he wrapped it lightly for a moment around the other Boil's shoulders.

"I'm not sure. I don't know what to expect from human movies. But it looks like they rather upset the teachers."

He glanced anxiously at them and back to Llyr.
