Expanded from the tent village that once sat here, the villagers have built a number of houses out of bamboo, and occasionally some stone for flooring or foundations. With the construction of homes, the paths throughout the area have also become more defined, creating the look of a proper village with houses lining the roads. The area currently consists of two main roads lined with houses. Tents are still present as newer arrivals have yet to find time to build their own huts, but are mostly relegated to the open areas behind the huts. At the center of the crossroad sits the village well, a simple hand dug well, lined with stone to keep out the dirt, and topped with a ring of stones rising three feet from the ground. A simple crossbar taps the well, holding a rope and weighted bucket for drawing water.

Player houses may be customized and designed by the individual players. Simply PM a crew member with your house description and it may be added to the first post under a spoiler.

Michiko hummed as she hop-skipped down the path between homes. She had just left her house with a basket full of hand-made confetti. With nothing immediate to do, Michi was bored and ready to make the settlement a brighter place. She didn't know where exactly she would make brighter, but she figured she'd be struck by inspiration when she discovered the chosen place. Times like this would be when Michi would take on a mission like the other genins, but her older sister was still adamantly against any sort of out-of-settlement mission.

Exit to somewhere… (if no one talks to her now)

Alise walked for a couple of hours the village, but dared not ask anyone where the storage place was, hell, she forgot what she was looking for twenty minutes in. Eventually she stumbled her way into the residential area without even knowing, and saw a young girl, clearly not much older than herself, a few inches shorter, nothing too grand. “Uh, excuse me?” She tried to sound as innocent as possible, put up the act of someone that needed help, that could usually get people’s attention, right? “I’m new here and uh-“ She spoke and was interrupted by her stomach growling, as embarrassing as it was, it would be of some use for her. “Sorry about that…” She chuckled nervously and scratched the back of her head. “I’ve been walking a lot… I’m new here, I’m looking for the place where you buy a tent or something like that? I don’t know, the guard at the gate was a total jerk and didn’t tell me a single thing.” She wasn’t exactly lying, but it wasn’t the total truth, one of the guards was indeed a total jerk and hardly spoke, but the other one was a sweetheart. “OH! And some food! I could use some food! I don’t even remember the last time I ate!” She moved her hand from the back of her head to her stomach. “Please, I could really use some help… I’ll even pay you, I don’t have much to offer, but a few copper coins should do for your time.” What started as an attempt to take advantage of someone else ended in a cry of desperation, she was weak and needed food in her system ASAP, she was even willing to pay for the help.

Arriving at the housing district, as he called it, Shikaku made a beeline for his hut. Somehow Timmy had managed to claim a lot right next to the village well, prime land by this place's standards, and between them they had built one of the most bizarre looking buildings Shikaku had ever seen. It was honestly beyond description, but already it was more like home than the orphanage had ever been.

On the way, he spotted Michiko and waved, calling a greeting, glancing curiously at the girl who was with her, since he didn't recognize her, and moving on with a shrug. Michi was one of his favorite people around here, though he was a bit nervous about trying to interact with her much outside of class. Not because she scared him, but because her sister scared him. Rin was one of the council members, but had managed to disguise herself as just another student for weeks before she revealed that fact, and for some reason she seemed to hate Timmy, and he was pretty sure she hated him by extension. Add the fact that she also seemed incredibly protective of her sister, and it was easy to see why Shikaku was a bit nervous about being caught around her outside of class. Of course, that didn't stop him from being friendly when they did run into each other.

Finally reaching his hut, Shikaku dropped his bundle of rabbit on a block of wood he'd managed to drag out of the forest, and sat down next to it. "Timmy!" He shouted out. "I need your knife!" Hopefully the other boy was actually home, because Shikaku really did need the knife. Kunai were fine for hunting, and his stiletto was great for a quick kill, but neither worked very well for skinning. Kunai were just too bulky and mangled the skin, and the stiletto, well, it was hard to slice without a blade. As he waited for Timmy to appear, Shikaku sat and rested, watching the road where he could still see Michi and the rather dirty looking stranger. Maybe she had just arrived and was dirty from the trip through the forest? But why would she be? Everyone came in with guides since the council had gotten things cleared up after the fiasco with them and the Uchiha kid, and the guides didn't let them get lost bad enough to get that filthy...

Just as Michi was about to exit, she met a girl, ragged, hungry, and apparently lost. Michiko's mind bounced to the most random topics as the new girl talked. When the unnamed female finished her story, Michi was left in charge of a decision. For a moment, she seriously pondered on the choice, eyebrows furrowed, arms crossed, and chin held in her hand. The moment didn't last ver long, though, and Michiko soon grew bored about deciding.

The easily distracted girl's gaze wondered everywhere-abouts and she saw Shikaku pass and wave. Michiko, in turn, returned the greeting. She had entered the academy shortly after Shikaku after much nagging and begging directed at her sister. Rin didn't seem to like Timmy, who Shikaku roomed with, and Michiko could only imagine that dislike probably extended to Shikaku by some amount, but Michiko's older sister had yet to tell the younger blonde to stay away from either Shikaku or Timmy. Michiko lightly guessed that it was because she enjoyed their company too much to force her sister to give her the very sad order to stay away from them.

As Michiko turned away from Shikaku, she realized something. She made an on-the-spot decision based on the realization. Michi's sister had forbidden Michiko from bringing strangers into their house, and Rin's word was the closest thing to law for Michi. However, Rin never said anything about bringing strangers into Shikaku's and Timmy's home. Granted, Rin had no reason to decide the rules of another home, but the logic was good enough for Michiko.

Grabbing the white-haired girl's hand without another thought, incidentally with the arm that held the basket, Michi only gave one small warning, "Follow me," before darting off in straight line to Shikaku's home next to the well. "SHI-KUN!!!" Michi yelled, in too much of a rush to bother with using Shikaku's full name, as confetti scattered behind her as she ran, "Rin-nee said no strangers at home, so can I leave her with you?!". She wants food too, but I can bring that from home." The blonde stopped abruptly in front of Shikaku's home as she talked about food, her signature infectious smile dancing on her face. Chances were, even if Shikaku didn't grant her request, Michi would still have her new companion wait in front of Shikaku's home before promptly setting up a picnic right in front of said home.

(OOC: Wait… I need to buy a cooking knife eek ? Uh-oh. Better get on that…)

Alise’s wrist was held by this strange girl and then she was pulled, she had no choice but to walk with her, she was probably going to help; she just wondered where she was being taken. When the other girl called a name she looked around and saw another kid, shorter than she was. ‘What does this place have with short people…’ She wondered. Hearing what this girl had to say to this new character, Shikun, she was hopeful for food, she didn’t care who gave it to her, she was just glad that the people were nice enough to help her out. She stood in front of the home next to the blond. “Sorry if I’m being too much trouble…” She looked over at this girl, Michi, seeing the smile on her face that forced her to give a weak smile for reasons she couldn’t understand; there was something about her smile that seemingly genuinely smile, it was odd for Alise, not once had she met someone like this, she just hoped that this Shikun character would be a nice guy, or girl, and allow her to eat, hopefully good food, but she wouldn’t be picky. All in all, so long as he was better than the guard, she would be pleased.

Timmy had been more or less, but mostly less, cleaning their brand new top of the line loih Xisa inside and out. It was a difficult chore, the house had a very peculiar shape compared to the rest of the homes as the building had begun to twist a bit under its own weight. Noone else was brave enough to make a two story building out of bamboo. Timmy had heard someone talking about the idea, but they had decided that it was impossible without proper exerience in construction. Few were brave enough to enter, and even Shikaku had refused to go to the second floor. That suited Timmy plenty however. It was nice having his own room for once.

Timmy was taking a break from his most recent chore, cleaning the aftermath of a certain produce based prank, when he heard Shikaku calling from outside to borrow his knife. Which was annoying, because Shikaku had a whole bag full of knives and other implements of destruction. Still, it was his meal ticket, so he would tolerate it for now. Timmy had tried hunting several times in his time here, and people seemed to dislike his methods. that section of forest would eventually grow back after all, and the fire wasnt close enough to the village to cause any real damage. The council didnt seem to care about that. Instead they forbade Timmy from leaving the village until after his training started. Something about "lacking common sense". But the classes began soon, and Timmy had learned that such long-cons as this required some sacrifice. He would follow their rules for the time being.

Timmy left the buiilding, taking care to replace the bamboo panel that served as their door, and approached Shikaku. As he approached, he noticed Michi and listened in on what she was calling out to Shikaku. Without even letting Shikaku respond Timmy shouted cheerfully. "Well I'll be damned, I was just hoping someone was hungry. You see we have a lot of vegetables and such from the forest, but me and Shikaku could never eat it all by ourselves! We could feed the both of you, though the two of us would have to miss out on the bulk of it. We can just eat the rabbit this time around and let you both help yourselves." They truly did have a lot of food from the forest. some lettuce, potatoes, a few berries and mushrooms. Shikaku seemed to think they were edible, but Timmy wasnt completely convinced. He knew only one way to be sure!

Shikaku blinked in confusion as Michi suddenly ran up to him and asked him to, babysit? "... What?" he got out, just in time for Timmy to finally pop out of the house, tower really, and start trying to pawn off their meager supply of vegetables he'd managed to gather while out hunting. He wasn't sure why Timmy was so adamant against eating them, for the most part they weren't anything they hadn't had before at the orphanage. Maybe it was the fact that these ones had come from the forest instead of the grocer?

Sighing, Shikaku turned around to face his adoptive brother. "Timmy, most of those are no good raw, and they were going in the stew anyways. Knife?" he requested, holding his hand out for the implement even as he turned again to face their guests. "She can hang out for awhile, sure. Maybe even get something to nibble on, but, well, the stew's gonna be a few hours." he said, picking up one of the rabbits by the legs for emphasis on the fact that it still had fur. "At least."

"Thanks Ti-nii, but Rin-nee said no more food from you after that one day I got stomach flu," Michiko bluntly refused, shaking her head and waving a hand in front of her face to emphasize the refusal. She didn't know why Rin had forbidden her from eating Shikaku's and Timmy's food after the flu incident, but she trusted her sister. "Ah," she added with a large smile, "but I could bring some of the food I prepared earlier today. I have some rice and I think I got the hang of pickling things, now! I swear I didn't mix up the salt and sugar this time around! You can trust me!".

Her position on the matter at hand made clear, Michiko turned to Alise and set to introducing the others in the fastest manner possible, which meant just pointing at everyone and saying as much of their name as Michiko knew. At least, that was what Michiko had planned to do. She naturally started with Alise, seeing how she was the new one, but as she smiled and pointed at the white-hair girl, Michiko realized she did not know Alise's name. There was an awkward moment where Michiko was just pointing and smiling at Alise with an open mouth before she decided she would move on to the people who's names she actually knew. Michiko pointed to Shikaku and proudly announced, "Shikaku No-last-name," then she moved her finger to point at Timmy, "Timmy the Quirk-who-also-doesn't-have-a-last-name," and finally Michiko pointed to herself and introduced, "Michiko Yamanaka, I do have a last name. Eheh! So you are?".

She was overwhelmed by the people that came out speaking at once, first this Timmy kid offering food, then the white haired one saying it would take a long time. All in all, she didn't mind how long it would take, she just wanted food, the sooner the better, but she wasn't going to complain. She looked at the two of them and placed her fists on her hips, but then, the other girl ruined it; Alise was not in the mood of dying to food poisoning, she had only gotten here and was too tired to keep the quality of the food in mind, nice save Michiko. "Hehehe..." She laughed nervously while looking at the other girl. "Y-yeah I think that you should bring the food you have ready, no offense guys. Maybe after I get settled in I can treat you to some food from the east. Finding the ingredients may be a bit hard, but your palled will thank me for it." She laughed weakly from hunger.

Alise's eyebrow raised as she was pointed at, but the other girl said nothing, she figured Michiko was planning on introducing her to the group, but she did not know her name. She introduced the white haired one first, Shikaku, he was probably this Shikun person, probably a pet name that Michi had for him, it seemed like a fitting name, but nolastname? What kind of a name was that? "... Nolastname?" She inquired outloud, but heard what she had to say about Timmy, how he also had no last name, and it all made sense at that moment, and boy did she feel stupid. "Oh... Don't I feel stupid..." She chuckled nervously, slamming the palm of her hand against her forehead, closing her left eye as it was covered by her palm. The girl's name was revealed: 'Michiko Yamanaka, the girl with the infectious smile'. "Pleasure to meet all of you." She bowed her head lightly to the three of them.

"As for me; my name is Alisse Donyestk. I arrived here today from very very far away, and again I say, pleasure to meet you." She said offering her hand to all of them for a good shake. To any that would accept her hand would feel soft, but her skin would feel sticky from the fact that she hadn't bathed in almost a week; it would also feel bony and her skin elastic from the lack of food and water.

((right, we should probably get somewhere or noone will join in soo..))
Before Timmy could respond a small hand shoved him to theside, as Rin entered the circle of would be ninja. "You must have forgotten what I said about talking to my sister." Without even a second glance toward the boy Rin spoke once more. "And the rest of you seem to have lost track of time. You are late for your lesson with Segare, if you are serious about joining the village i recommend you forget about food." A part of Rin wanted to let her sister eat from her own lunch, and she would gladly do so if Michi would only forget about ninja school. It seemed however that stronger motivations were needed before she would quit. When did you become so stubborn sis?

((Sorry its super short, i didnt have a lot of ideas. New job is a bit... tiring, but hopefully ill get the hang of it soon.))

Shikaku lifted his hand in greeting as the newly identified Alise offered hers to everyone, but made no motion to grasp her hand. He'd probably picked up the habit from watching Luo and a few of the other higher ranking ninja in the village, but most of the older ninja, especially Luo, seemed to go out of their way to avoid any physical contact with other ninja, and that didn't seem like a bad policy to him. You never knew when one of them would turn on you. He'd started to trust the other villagers for the most part since they'd arrived here, but even so he didn't trust anyone but Timmy completely. heck, he didn't trust Timmy completely either, though that distrust was born of experience.

Before anybody could say or do anything else though, Rin showed up. Shikaku didn't know whether her opening words were directed towards Timmy alone or the both of them, but he ducked his head anyways, avoiding looking towards her. Shikaku was paranoid and nervous around most people, but he wasn't really scared of them. That couldn't be said for Rin though. The girl was barely taller than he was, was younger than Timmy, but something about her scared him. And honestly, he figured that was probably intentional on her part.

When Rin said they were late for class, Shikaku's eyes jumped first to the sun, the only way of telling time around here since there was no clock tower like in their old home, and then to Timmy. "I thought you said there was no classes today?!" The words came out in a quiet hiss, and then Shikaku jumped up, grabbing his rabbits and hanging them on a nearby rack. Hopefully they'd still be usable when he got back to them. He wouldn't have gone hunting if he'd known there was class today. It was lucky he'd gotten back in time then. Quickly patting his pockets to check he had everything he might need, Shikaku started walking in the direction of the academy building, eager to put as much distance between himself and Rin as he could. She seemed a bit upset today, and that made her even scarier than usual.

"Awww...," Michiko showed her disappointment at her older sister's decision to break up their party, but didn't disagree, "Okay then. Classes are good too! Bye bye, Rin-nee!". Before skipping away, Michiko gave Rin a big hug and peck on the cheek. Personally, Michiko was hungry, having decided to wait for her older sister before eating, but the prospect of classes was a happy thing in itself. After having fought so long and persistently for the permission to attend the academy, Michiko very much appreciated the school even when on an empty stomach.

Her mild excitement at the upcoming classes didn't lead to Michiko completely forgetting about Alise, though. After skipping about ten meters away, she remembered Alise and turned back around to shout to her sister, "Alise is hungry!!!". With that, she decided that she had done enough and continued on her way, this time running to catch up with Shikaku, "Shi-kun, wait up!" even as she shouted back at Timmy, "Ti-nii, hurry up!". Such loud words were uncharacteristic for a ninja, true, but Michiko felt safe in the settlement. At least, she felt safe enough to not need to control the volume of her voice.

Alise stared blankly as the three other people left her behind heading to some academy thing. " ... but... " She sighed and followed defeated as her stomach growled. She couldn't believe that they left her behind, such a sweet looking girl would leave her hungry behind. She was hungry for god's sake and these people, at least this Michi girl, said she would help! Now she was basically forced to go to the academy. Because she didn't know anything about anything here, she would follow them.

"You can always choose your actions...

Walking down the simple dirt road that ran through the heart of the residential district of the village, Athran noted how quiet it was. Few children played in the streets, most of them would be at the academy, all but the youngest. For the most part, the only people he saw were women hanging clothes out to dry, or perhaps beating a rug free of dust. Most of the men would either be shinobi, presumably performing missions or guarding the village, or craftsmen, and so were most likely working to expand the village in some way, by either crafting goods or helping in the construction of new buildings. Rounding a corner, Athran made his way down an impromptu alley towards the newer, and poorer, side of town. The houses here were not so much smaller than the houses closer to the heart of the district, but they seemed more hastily constructed, many of them made from what looked like scraps of wood that had been tossed aside. Stopping in front of one such dwelling, not so much different from the ones to either side, Athran walked up to the door and lifted the simple wooden latch that served as a door handle before stepping inside.

The interior was dim, the only light coming in through a rice-paper window on the far wall of the one room building. A fire pit occupied much of the center of the dirt floor, a small lidded pot hanging over it. Later in the day there would no doubt be something bowling inside, but for now it hung over cold remnants of the previous nights fire. On either side of the room was a futon, perhaps the two most luxurious items there, each of them set on bamboo mats to keep them from getting too dirty. In the corner of the room nearest his mother's futon were her most important possessions, which consisted mostly of the items she used to cook and serve their meals with, a large wooden spoon, some wooden bowls and spoons to go with them, two pairs of chopsticks, and a single knife, nearly too worn to be re-sharpened. His mother was nowhere to be seen, no doubt cleaning one of the wealthier villager's houses for a few coppers in order to buy their supper.

Sighing, Athran walked to his side of the room and grabbed his bow and quiver from the corner, strapping the quiver around his waist and re-stringing his bow. He never left his bow strung when he wasn't using it. A new string was an expense they could ill afford. It had taken them nearly half a years worth of saving and scraping together coin to buy the weapon, but Athran knew that he would need it to become a shinobi, and if he couldn't do that then he'd never be able to pull his mother and himself out of poverty. With his bow re-strung, Athran slung it across his back and headed out the door, hoping he could bring something home to eat and contribute to the meal.

...what you can't choose are the consequences."
