'There is nothing like a spring day..well, except a summer's day I suppose..' Sati was looking out at the vista that was before her, rolling fields of grass dotted with small white flowers that bobbed in the breeze, and she shook her mane out, the gentle winds catching the ringlets before they settled again around her head and neck.

She realised that talking to oneself was a bit..well, it was okay when she was tucked away in the small copse of trees she called home, but out here in the open someone could see her. The mare shook her head again, chuckling to herself and trotted forwards, watching as a butterfly skipped ahead of her. She watched the erratic path of the flying insect, especially the wing movement and spread her own wings, giving a few flaps. She wondered if the Soquili with the flutter wings moved in such an erratic fashion, and made a mental note to ask the very next time she saw one.

Lost in that thought, she lost sight of the butterfly, and with nothing else to do, she went looking for it again, slowly walking through the long grass, her ringlets in tail and mane swishing gently back and forth as she moved, scanning for a glimpse of the pretty little insect she'd seen before.

What she found instead of the butterfly was something much larger, though it was brightly coloured as well as winged. Nestled in the long grass was a large stallion, not quite a draft or a war horse, but large nonetheless. His coat was a rusty orange donned with black spots and his mane and tail were black as well. A pair of powerful wings were upon his back, reminiscent of angeni wings, though he only had one pair not two. He was a handsome boy, and while one could tell he was aware of that fact, it certainly hadn't gone to his head.

Upon hearing the footsteps of someone approaching, he turned his head in her direction, expecting to see his mother or perhaps his sister. The footsteps were much too dainty to belong to his brother or his father, after all. Instead he found a strange mare though, and his eyebrows rose.

"Hello," he called out to her in greeting. She seemed unaware that he was nearby.

'Oh! Hello..' Sati said, stopping at once at the greeting. She had indeed not noticed the stallion, so intent was she in tracking down that now wayward butterfly. She looked at him slightly warily at first; she was a little mare, and although she possessed a fine, pointed horn, she was just about adept enough with it to spear an overripe fruit (which was a sight to see, and something she only did once as it took an age to get that apple off again!). She had no fighting skills, unless you counted running..or flying away.

He was resting though, and had greeted her genially enough so she didn't back away, just stood there, a quite open look on her face as she regarded him thoughtfully, taking in his wings, the patterning, the rich of his pelt and his quite striking eyes.

'You haven't seen a butterfly have you?' she asked, thinking that if he hadn't gone anywhere in the last little while he may just have.

"A butterfly?" Pyrrhus repeated, looking up at the sky. "No, I can't say I have. Not today at least." He looked back at the mare, a little smile on his lips. "Is it a particular butterfly that you're looking for, or will any butterfly at all do?"

Chasing butterflies, now was that quaint. Pyrrhus tried to think of Atlas doing the same and couldn't help the chuckle that passed his lips.

'No? Oh that is a shame..' Sati wondered where the little insect had gotten to. Had she mistaken which direction it had flitted off to? It seemed that she may have done, and she gave a little shake, worrying no more about it. There was little she could do and she was sure she would come across another one at some point.

'I was fascinated by how they fly was all. I was trying to work out how they did it, I heard there were Soquili that have butterfly wings, and I sort of wondered if they flew in the same haphazard manner.' she said with a soft chuckle.

'But, I seem to have disturbed your solitude. Which I apologise for.' she added with a little apologetic bow.

"Oh, there certainly is no need to apologize," Pyrrhus told her with a smile as he got gracefully to his feet. He gave his wings and mane a shake, letting them settle back down before he resumed the conversation. "I was having a moment to myself, yes, but I certainly don't mind having company for a moment or two." He gave her a reassuring smile, the corners of his lips turning up with ease. He smiled a lot, this one.

"Of course, as long as you have time to stay. My name is Pyrrus, but please, don't let me interrupt your butterfly chase."

When he shook himself after standing, Sati caught sight of the pendant around his neck for the first time.

'Ohh, that's pretty.' she said with a smile, motioning towards it with her head.
'Where did you get it from?' and then she added.
'It's very much the same colour as your eyes. Those are striking as well.'

'Well, as you've been kind enough to allow me a bit of your time, I certainly wouldn't want to be rude and rush off after a butterfly that I may never find again.' she chuckled.
'I'm very pleased to meet you Pyrrhus, my name is Sati.'

Pyrrhus bowed his head low politely as he'd been raised, the corners of his lips still turned up in a soft smile. "The pleasure is all mine, Miss Sati, I assure you." He meant it too; he really didn't get out as much as he should. He was always too busy worrying about his sister or trying to help out his parents around their home.

She mentioned the trinket he wore around his neck and Pyrrhus looked down at it, his smile widening. "Thank you. It was a gift from my parents," he explained. "I have had it for a very long time. They gave each of us, my siblings and I, something. I got this pendant." He was very fond of it. "The pearls are from a sash my mother used to wear. The string burst when she was pregnant with us and together she and my father used the pearls to make new adornments for us."

She smiled as he bowed; handsome and well-mannered, she certainly would have to thank that butterfly if she ever saw it again. Or maybe just the very next butterfly as she was fairly certain she could not tell one from another.

'Since your birth at any rate, and I can't see you being too much older than myself.' she said with a little laugh.

'It suits you very well, and I can see you treasure it. And siblings? Do you have a particularly large family?' she asked and then added.

'If you don't mind my asking that is. I have no family myself, beyond a mother who is..somewhere and I've always enjoyed the thought of what it might have been like to have a brother, or sister.'

"No, I do not mind at all." Pyrrhus gave Sati a reassuring smile. It certainly didn't bother him in the least to talk about his family. He loved them very dearly. He couldn't even begin to imagine what it must be like to not have siblings.

"Our family is not large, at least not yet anyway. I have a brother and a sister, and of course my parents. My mother also has a familiar, a crow named Paean. He is family as well." He nodded his head as he spoke that last sentence. He mustn't forget Paean. If it weren't for him, his parents might not have stayed together.

She was pleased; she knew sometimes Soquili didn't like discussing family, or thinking about it because there was strife between members, and it was nice to meet someone who obviously felt and got a great deal of love from his family - not that she knew for sure, but there was something in his voice and expression when he talked of them.

'A brother and a sister? Do you get on well? What are they like?' she asked the questions and then gave her wings a little flap, laughing at herself for how nosey she must have sounded just then.

'Forgive me for my curiosity..but as I said, no siblings here.' she was aware that her mother could have had more children since she last saw her, so it was none that she was aware of, but as she wasn't very maternal, Sati thought that it was probably unlikely.

Pyrrhus smiled. While other Soquili might have found her many questions irritating or annoying, he found them quite endearing in fact. The fact that the thing she was curious about was his very family most certainly helped. He could talk for hours about his family.

"Oh, I don't mind, not in the least," he assured her, his smile widening even more. "Think nothing of it. My siblings are quite different. My sister, Atlas, is the baby of the family and she certainly acts like it. She has quite a sense of humour and she can be quite loud and brash." He spoke very fondly of her. They were so close. "Now, my brother, Ignatius, is the opposite of Atlas. He's the quiet, stoic type. A good stallion though." He wasn't as close to Ignatius as he was to Atlas, but he still loved him very much. He couldn't imagine his life without them.

Sati was pleased that he didn't find her annoying in any way, as it was there was probably much more questions she could pepper him with, but she would let him talk about his family first, as she was interested in hearing about that before anything else.

"I can tell your family are very important to you." she said, having heard the tone of his voice as he spoke about his siblings.

"Your siblings sound like complete opposites. Where do you fit in between them then?" she asked with a little chuckle.
